I hope you've all had a great weekend. It's my turn for the BWU, so I hope you'll grab a snack and a seat to join me. Let's get started!
Break Week!
It's officially the week before exams, so it's catch up time. For students, good luck getting caught up with lessons now. You've still got a little bit of time to help your house (and your character) Gryffindors, I'm looking at you.
Professors, by now all of your lessons should be posted. If not, now is the time to get them posted and to catch up on grading the lessons you already have posted Please do not wait until the last minute so that we can get this year ended and sorting started.
OWL and NEWT professors should feel free to start their exams any time after midweek to allow 5th and 7th year students additional time to complete their exams. Finally, if you're in the middle of any kind of punishment RP with a student, you should begin wrapping those up now to ensure that points are removed and punishments implemented as necessary.
Reminders!
7th years, if you haven't already, please check your PMs. Graduation is set to start on Friday, so your HoHs need to know who your characters are inviting to grad. PMs were sent out over a week ago, so if you haven't received one, please reach out to your Head of House for more information.
Additionally, if you have a club leader, please make sure you send me a PM to let me know a) if you will be remaining on as leader or b) if your character is graduating, who your character would like to take over.
Wheelbarrow Race
We want to offer a big thank you to Zach for organizing the wheelbarrow race. Congratulations to Professor Summers and Professor Frost for taking the victory. Thank you to everyone who participated!

The quidditch season is not done yet! After a suggestion made last year, a Beauxbatons team was created and has been practicing for this very moment.
Midweek, several Beauxbatons students will be making their way to HNZ to participate in a game against the quidditch champs, the Hufflepuffs! It should be a fun one!
You've asked for it
Believe it or not, an extension of the Electives Fair is something that site staff considered when we created the Electives Fair. We wanted to see how things took off first to see if it would be worthwhile to the site, and last IC year we began discussing actually implementing a new fair meant to connect people in certain wizarding careers with those who are interested in those careers. This year, several of you PMed me asking about this specifically, which was pretty funny because we'd actually already had things rolling on this.
This is how it will work: The Ministry will be funding this event, which is meant to connect working adults with students interested in certain careers. The event will be advertised in the newspaper, on the radio, and on posters around the local NZ area. It will take place during IC July and August.
If you are interested in having your character participate, please read carefully. I will be accepting PMs from individuals interested in having their character participate at the event until Friday, July 14 at 12:00pm EST. Please do not apply if you don't think you can be active during this event. Your PM should be from the character you're wanting to participate with and should include your character's age, occupation, length of time in that occupation, and 1 sentence explaining why that character should be chosen to participate. PMing is not a guarantee that you will be chosen to participate, but we will let everyone know whether they are chosen or not. We are looking for participants from different occupations (examples include ministry employees, healers, magizoologists, journalists, etc. ).
I look forward to seeing how this event shapes up!

If you haven't noticed, we have a new admin on the site!
Check out the post here to find out all about it, and once again, welcome to the admin team, Emzies!
July Character Spotlight
July's spotlighted character is Minerva Khulik! Please join us in offering congratulations to Linda for her Hufflepuff, and please take a moment to check out her questionnaire.
Applications Closing
As you all know, we typically close applications prior to sorting to help us focus our time on sorting, transferring, hiring, and other things that need to get done to begin the next school year. Things will be no different this year. Apps will be closing on Tuesday, so if there is something that you are interested in applying for, I encourage you to do so asap. Apps will not reopen until sorting closes. Further, we ask for your patience in hearing back from us if you've submitted an app or contacted us in any way.
OOC areas
This is just a reminder that the OOC forum doesn't only have to consist of topics started by staff. Have a TV show you just have to discuss? A book you loved? A competition you want to talk about (ex. Olympics, Eurovision, etc. )? A game you think will be fun? Start a topic. I'm sure you'll find several people also eager to join the discussion. As with anything else, site rules apply but we encourage you to create topics in these areas.[ul][li]Shining Light
