Hello hello! Welcome to this BWU and the first of this brand new IC year! We've a number of things to get to so let's just get started
Semester 1 Begins!
As of today we are offically now in the new semester. This is week 1, so the opportunity to try and get on top of things and stay on top. For this IC Year, do be sure to take a look at the calendar for when dates etc fall. Semester 2 specifically will end right at the festive period, so everyone should try their best (if they want to) to keep on top of lessons/grading. This won't be relevant to everyone at this point, but a good thing to be aware of/mindful of.
Welcome (Back) Professors
With it being a new semester, we've got a couple new professors to welcome. Professor Matt Alcott-Ward, Daphne, has obiviously now taken up the headmaster position and opting to no longer teach, so the History of Magic position has been taken over by Professor Killian Borisyuk, Kaitlyn. Professor Charles Abberline, Steven, who held the temp position for transfiguration over the last semester, has moved to take over DADA y1-4. And finally Professors Adorah Zumwalt (Kiersten) and Norton Gillespie (Emzies) have taken over astronomy for the semester. We'd like to extend a thanks and a welcome to all of the professor new and returning. The work the professors do is vital in keeping the site running.
New Prefects and Head Students
With a new semester we have a new set of prefects and a new head boy and girl. If you have seen them they are as follows:
Head Girl: Emmaline Hopkins-Vance
Head Boy: Ares Kuya-Tine
Gryffindor Prefects: Louis Alcott & Zephryn Spencer
Hufflepuff Prefects: Eugene Nestor & Nolan Burke
Ravenclaw Prefects: Xiuying Huang & Branson Archer
Slytherin Prefects: Ivelisse Burleigh & Celia Vuong
Sorting & Transfers
The window for transfer applications has now closed, we had contact our successful transfers (of which there were two). This is now closed until next sorting. Sorting itself is still open and will remain open for the next week. So any last minutes character ideas can be executed. Get them in before its too late!
House Meetings
Additionally with the new year, we'll start to see house meetings spring up. These are just a good way to have characters meet and know others in their house and of course for characters to meet/listen to their heads of houses. Some even might do less that traditional things with a meeting, so it's always a good idea to try and have characters go along.
The Restricted Section
If you didn't already know this, Hogwarts has a restricted section of the library. If you want to RP in it though there are a few things you have to do. They are as follows:
The Club Fair
The club fair will be starting soon, this is an opportunity to see what official (or unofficial) clubs are going on in the school. These clubs do then run events which members of said clubs have exclusive access to. It's just a good way to have characters meet other likeminded people.
Three legged race sign ups to open
Later today the signs up for the three legged race will be posted. This will be a fun little event to where two people get one leg each tied together and they race. It'll be a good way to pair up with someone and have a fun time at entering. Be on the look out for this sign ups.
Apps will reopen
All apps will reopen very soon (no later than mid-week). So you'll be able to go ahead and apply to your hearts content for all the ideas that you have. Additionally we still have some shopkeeper apps open for people who would like; https://hogwarts.nz/threads/shops-available.112548/ . These are just fun things to have open, which have the opportunity to give other characters jobs and can be really fun to run.
Holiday Areas
All holiday area will close by mid-week. So do be sure to wrap up any and all threads before that time. If you do run out of time, there is always the alternate section to finish time sensitive RPs, but also just aiming to have them be closed is as good a thought.
Raffle
Raffle! We love a Summer raffle! It's a low effort contest that anyone (but admin) can join, so head on over to this thread here to read all about it and sign up if you would like to.
Graduated students
If you have a student who graduated from one of the other schools and you'd like to add them to the graduates list, be sure to contact a member of staff with the name of the character and the graduation date. We do use the other students list to know who graduated but might not catch all of them, and certainly won't catch characters who've joined as adults and technically didn't go through the school system. We cannot add any character claiming to have graduated from HNZ in prior years, as that wouldn't be in line with the canon of the website.

3. After the roleplay has taken place and admin will need to be notified by PM so they can grant permissions for the area to the individual(s) who requested it. The area permissions will be cleaned up periodically. This is to prevent students from returning to the restricted area at their leisure.

- Looks so Good in Green - After a shampoo and hairdye accident a group of siblings is going to learn if kurmit the frog was right if "it's not easy being green" or if "It's beautiful, and I think it's what I want to be"
- I Hated you (I loved you too) - Tristan and Vivian bump into each other unexpectedly and are stunned by the changes in each other's lives. It's Trivian, it's angst, it's the vibe of the thing, Your Honour. Bonus points for the Wuthering Heights reference.
- Uncanny Similarities - Due to Connor desperately trying to impress his dad, he and Eric reluctantly end up looking after their younger half brother.
- Celebrating a Union - Odette and Harley reconnect at their brothers' wedding, and there's lots of flirting.
