Irene stood in her Ministry robes looking as poised as ever as she awaited the sixth years' arrival. Today, they'd finally get some practice in. She knew that some students had experience with side-along apparition, but doing it alone was a very different experience. They'd soon find that out for themselves. It was one thing to go along for the ride, and quite another thing to be the person who had to remember the 3 Ds and execute them perfectly.

"Let's go. You don't have all day and neither do I" Irene Finch urged the students forward impatiently as the first student walked tentatively through the open Great Hall doors. She took roll as they entered, shutting the doors from the distraction of younger students who wanted to see what was happening. "You don't need to be on top of each other. Space yourselves out!" she stated, exasperation in her tone. Irene gave her wand a small flourish and a large wooden hoop appeared in front of each student, falling into place before them.

Looking around at their faces, Irene stared at each student for the briefest of moments, making judgments about their ability to succeed at the task before them. She had been doing this long enough that she was rarely wrong. "Alright. Today, you will make your first attempts at apparating" she declared, her hands on her hips as she walked around. "Before we begin, can someone remind us of the three Ds?" she pointed to a student and nodded her head as they responded.

"Excellent" she stated. "Now that you've all been reminded of the three Ds, it is time to put them into practice. For your safety, one of your school nurses is here" she nodded towards the corner where the nurse was stationed. "If you splinch yourself, please remain in your spot and the nurse or I will come to you. No sense bleeding all over the place" she stated with a small shake of her head, not even thinking about how startling that sentence might seem to a muggleborn. She didn't explain splinching either. Sooner rather than later, she was sure they'd learn if they didn't already know. "Begin. I will be walking around."

Points will be given to the student who answers the question. RP the lesson. If you'd like your character to splinch themselves, please speak with me first.

Emily was fairly competitive and the fact Tyler was with her at these classes didn't make it any better. It was a healthy competition between them and she definitely wanted to win. She walked inside the Great Hall following her boyfriend Tyler. She smiled broadly and hoped she would find the secret to apparition first. Emily listened to the Professor and when she asked a question she was eager to answer it. A thing she wouldn't normally do, she didn't care for the house points anyway. ''Its destination, determination. and deliberation." Emily said clearly and when she was done she looked back at Tyler shooting him a wink.

Emily had no clue how to actually do this and thus she just closed her eyes envisioned that she wanted to move. It was pretty difficult and didn't feel very natural to her. She did feel her insides pulled inside out and when she opened her eyes she had actually moved. Not to the place she actually wanted to do, but it was something. She checked herself over and every limb and piece of skin was still with her. Since she felt pretty sick she decided to wait before doing it again.

Jasper was honestly kind of looking forward to the next school year. He was going to miss Arinna, really he was, he would miss her a lot, but he was kind of looking forward to the chance to hang out with Cyzarine more and spend some more time with her. It had been a good while since he'd really spent time with Cyzarine or Sierra, and he decided then that he would need to seek out the other Gryffindor, as well.

He came into Appartition without any worry. He understood the theory of it, he knew the risks, and he knew he could do it. He listened to the woman from the Ministry speak, letting another girl answer her question. He waited several moments, tossing over a few things in his head, before deciding he would just do it. He shut his eyes and focused. His stomach tangled itself in a knot, but when he opened his eyes he was exactly where he had wanted to be. He smirked a little to himself, and practiced a bit more, going back and forth between where he had started to the hoop and back again. He felt confident in his abilities.

Lily was... nervous. Apparition seemed like such a complex spell. Could they really do this? She bit her lip, working the fabric of her robes in her hands. Lily never had a problem with magic, when she was alone or in smaller groups. But this, working in large crowds of people, it always unnerved her. Normally, she would turn to Elliot, or even Lars or Jasper, but she was admittedly distancing herself a bit from everyone lately.

She waited a little bit, looking uncertainly at her hoop. She watched as more and more students managed to apparate, knowing she needed to be able to do the same herself. After what felt like quite a long time, Lily took a very deep breath, her entire body tense. She held her breath, shut her eyes, and tried to apparate to the hoop.

It did not go well. It felt like her entire body was tumbling, twisting, turning on itself, and there was a sharp pain in her shoulder and an unpleasantly loud ripping sound. Lily reformed inside the hoop, but immediately collapsed. Her face was pale, her entire body was shaking, and she couldn't help but let out a sharp cry of pain. She didn't dare move again. She could feel the pain in her shoulder, feel the dampness of the robes against her skin, slowly growing bigger, and she already knew it was blood.

Irene walked around the group, so she could get a look at what everyone was doing. If even half of them were successful, she would be surprised. Apparating was no easy feat, and she knew that it was only with practice that anyone would get it. So she wasn't terribly surprised when she heard the sharp cry from behind her. Spinning around quickly, the woman's blue eyes darted around until she saw the pool of blood. She sped, her heels clicking loudly on the wooden floor as she rushed to the girl. Thankfully, she always had a nurse for these lessons for this very reason. "Stay still, you've splinched yourself" she stated firmly, a note of sympathy in her voice. She'd never splinched but knew it was a painful experience. Once the nurse was with the young girl, Irene stepped back and returned her attention to the group. "She'll be fine. Continue " the woman encouraged the sixth years.

Aonghas was pleased that the last celebration of Hogwarts for the year was done. Anything else would be club lead and not school lead and he was thankful for that. He didn’t want to end up having to do much else with himself besides just finish his school. There was still a bit to go but he was closer than he had ever been and this would be true right up until he actually left at the end of the year. But it was so nearly in his grasp and he just couldn’t lose sight of it. He had come so far, stuck it out for so long that to fail now at this point would be pretty poor, it would not be good. He had managed to get good grades in the first semester in this year he really didn’t want to fail now. He was so close. Aonghas pushed aside those thoughts and feelings as he gathered up the next few items he would need for the day ahead, he got his books and notes. He made sure he had the homework he’d completed despite really not wanting to bother and once he all of that Aonghas got himself dressed and headed out of the door and to that first class.

Aonghas walked into the great hall with the rest of the kids from his year for the second lesson. He was quite keen to actually get the opportunity to apparate, keen to have a go at it. He didn’t mind that it could be dangerous he just wanted to learn it. He looked to the teacher, the woman and then took up the position that she told them to. He nodded as someone else answered the question since he hadn’t cared to raise his hand to answer. He nodded and then looked to the nurse before just nodding and then getting to it. He’d seen enough of his family members managing it that he knew what he was supposed to do. Enough of them had explained it too, so he could do this. He could definitely do this. The hufflepuff focused on the hoop in front of him, ignoring everything else and just focusing in on that. He nodded to himself, just clearing his mind, being determined of where he wanted to go. Then after a few moments he felt what everyone in his family described and with a loud crack he appeared within the boundaries of the hoop like he was supposed to. He smiled to himself, noticing there was a bit of drama elsewhere but mostly just focusing on what he’d managed to do. He didn’t have much opportunity to practice again, but he’d done it once and that counted for something.

Cyzarine was getting herself together for the day ahead, she knew that she had a lot that needed to get done over the next few weeks, including some work with the Heta Omega. She was rather pleased with how her first year of running it had gone. She was sure she could do more to engage people, maybe do more with the little sister big sister elements but she also knew that she had time to fix it, time to do more next semester, she’d be busy with her exams and her final year but Cyzarine would be damned if she didn’t find the time for the heta omega and having new and engaging events during it. She’d need to wait and see about having another blind dating thing since the leader of the brotherhood was changing but she’d need to see. For now she was looking to just finish the events of this semester before she started thinking about the next ones. CYzarine put away the heta things as she focused on getting her homework and notes together and getting herself ready to be able to head out the door and to the first class of the day.

Cyzarine walked into the great hall, with a nervous excitement. THere was so much that could wrong with this but it was so good to learn, she was so keen to be able to do it. No more floo network, no more flying, no more side along apparition, she’d just be able to apparate herself and though it might not seem like a big deal she was keen and nervous. Cyzarine stood in the room and then moved herself into a better position. She looked up at the professor as the woman got started, going back over briefly what they had learnt in the last lesson and then let them get to it. It seemed like both too soon and had taken too long to get to. She looked at the hoop focusing, letting her attention be on that and only that. She just had to relax her mind slightly and then just lean into where she needed to go. It took a while and on a few occasions as she tried, she just stepped physically forward, but eventually she felt something, leaned in, not actually moving and then with a crack was where she needed to be. She noticed then the slight drama elsewhere but having finished she just packed up her things and headed out of the hall.

Jasper was already worried about this year. It was going to be just as difficult as the OWL year, if not more so. Already homework was piling up, and the Slytherin knew he had to work hard if he wanted to accomplish his dreams. Why had he chosen to be an auror again? It was definitely one of the trickier goals. He hated having to do his best in classes. Though apparition was an exception, as it was new and pretty exciting. He couldn't wait to learn it, and it seemed like today was the day. He headed into the Great Hall after Miss Finch urged them to go inside a bit angrily. He headed over to Lily, giving her a reassuring smile before moving aside when the teacher told them to spread out. She seemed to be in a bit of a bad mood, he thought privately. A wooden hoop then appeared in front of everyone, and it became clear they had to apparate into them. The professor asked them a question, which Emily Underwood from Ravenclaw answered. After a quick recap of the theory, they were allowed to get started. Jasper wasn't entirely sure what to do, but he did his best to focus on the three D's. It took him a bit, but eventually he opened his eyes and found himself in the hoop, fairly sure he hadn't just stepped in. He was proud of himself and grinned, looking around to see if Nell and Lily had seen that. But as he looked at Lily, he realized that something was awfully wrong. Just as he looked over at her, she collapsed, and Jasper gasped at the sight of the blood. Oh, Merlin. She had splinched herself. Without thinking, Jasper moved to her side. "Lily!" He called, trying to reach her. But the nurse was in the way, and Jasper stepped backwards as he didn't want to be in the way. He watched anxiously as Lily was taken care of by the nurse, and was no longer able to focus on his own apparating. At least he had managed it once, but seeing a splinching happen in front of him was pretty scary. He hoped Lily would alright.

It had been quite a few years now since the last time something had gone wrong during apparition, but Josephine was still alert as she watched the lesson from the sidelines of the great hall. She spotted the girl splinching herself only a moment after it happened, moving towards her before it had really registered in her head. Irene Finch told the girl sternly to stay still, though Josephine highly doubted she had any plans to move around much. A boy was hovering nearby, clearly concerned, but Josephine had no time for that. She moved past him to reach the girl and started using spells to stop the bleeding first, the actual damage would have to be repaired afterwards. She'd take the girl to the hospital wing where there was more privacy. It couldn't be nice to have this happen in front of literally all your classmates. Josephine quietly reassured the girl. "I've got you, you'll be okay. Focus on me, you'll be fine." As she escorted her out of the hall, making other kids move out of the way with a single look.

Lars headed to the great hall for the second apparition lesson, feeling more than a little nervous about it. He really didn't know if he'd be able to do this, and found a spot in the Great Hall near the back. He hoped less people would be looking at him there. The teacher told them to spread out, and then hoops appeared in front of everyone. She told them they would be making their first attempts at apparating, though that wasn't news. He remembered how they had been told not to bring anything last time. The teacher asked them about the three Ds, and Emily from his house answered the question. Then it was time to try apparating, and Lars wished he had any idea what he was doing. He tried to focus on the three D's, but his mind kept drifting to Blake. It took all his willpower not to look at him. But soon enough, Lars was looking elsewhere as LIly collapsed. He froze in shock as he realized what was happening, she had splinched. He watched in horror as the nurse helped her and got her out of the room, but he was shaken by this happening. He couldn't focus enough, and in the end didn't manage to apparate this lesson.

Tyler had been excited about the next apparition lesson, though he was a bit nervous too. He knew apparating was important, and if he failed at it it would be humiliating. He arrived a little bit early at the Great Hall, then waited until they were allowed to go in. The Ministry lady seemed pretty impatient, and urged them into the hall with a sharp comment. Tyler found a spot near Emily, shooting her a smile as he saw she was looking at him too. He knew this would be a competition between them, as most things were. Though he also wouldn't hate losing to her.

The teacher asked them about the three Ds, and Tyler rolled his eyes fondly when Emily answered the question. She was such a typical Ravenclaw, even if she wouldn't admit it. She just couldn't resist the chance to show off. Then it was time to get started. They each got a hoop they had to apparate into, and Tyler tried his best. It was a bit strange to focus on something without knowing exactly what he was supposed to focus on, but he eventually managed it. He shot Emily a grin, though it seemed like she had managed it was well around the same time. Soon a commotion distracted him, and he realized that Lily Lockwood had splinched herself. He was far enough away not to see any details, and he ducked hsi head to avoid smiling too openly. He wasn't glad she had hurt herself, but he didn't like Lily and couldn't pretend he was very sorry for her.

Elliot had been trying not to psych himself out for Apparation lessons too badly all week, and had mostly failed. As excited as he was to finally learn how to do it properly, the lingering fear of messing it up still haunted him. He’d even foregone wearing socks today in some vague hope it would make it just slightly easier, but mostly he’d just succeeded in making himself uncomfortably aware of his own feet in his shoes all day.

Entering the hall, Elliot listened as Ms Finch got them started, eyes drawn immediately to the hoops in front of them as they appeared. It was crazy how something so simple invoked so much anxiety. When his turn came up, Elliot glanced around for Lily or Lars, though they both seemed as wrapped up in their own nerves as his, so Elliot soldiered on.

He had to close his eyes for a few moments to try and concentrate, trying to get to the same place of calm he aimed for when seeking or doing transfiguration, though it was harder to zone out the other students making their own attempts around him or waiting on him to move. Eyes trained on the hoop, Elliot searched for that tugging sensation, letting it pull him along. His eyes snapped back open and he was pleased to find that he had moved, though he was barely a foot away from where he had been standing, it was still a start. His success felt cut short though when he heard a cry, head whipping to see Lily on the ground. Elliot froze to the spot, watching vaguely as the nurse and Ms Finch checked on her before Lily was ushered out of the room, his heart sinking at the sight of her pale face. Distracted, Elliot couldn’t bring himself to make any further attempts, mostly succeeding in just standing and staring at the hoops until the lesson ended.

Sophie’s first week back had been frustrating to say the least. She wasn’t finding any of the things they were learning this year interesting and this definitely didn’t keep her motivated. Last year had been hard for her and if things this year weren’t going to pick themselves up then she wasn’t real confident that this year would be any easier, even with less pressure from the OWL exams. She just wasn’t seeing anything positive with attending school anymore.

Sophie entered the Great Hall with the rest of the sixth years for her second Apparition lesson, keeping to herself as she found a space in the corner of the room just as the Ministry person instructed. She was glad she didn't have to be around anyone for this activity. The teen was slightly shocked that they were already going to be trying to apparate, and when instructed she simply shrugged her shoulders as she tried her best to remember the three D's. Truthfully, Sophie didn't mind if she were to get splinched. Things like that happened when you were starting out, and so it wouldn't be a surprise to her. Thankfully however, this did not happen to her today, and whilst it did take her a long time to move herself into the hoop in front of her, she had eventually done it.

Selene made her way to the apparation class. She had spent the week focusing on being determined. focused on picturing a destination and focused on being deliberate with her actions. she took a spot at the back of the room. she didn't want people to be staring at her if she was unsuccessful. She listened as ms Finch explained on what thet would be doing today. it seemed that they would be practicing. She took her wand and focused. Bushing her mind out there and imagining standing in the hoop. She focused and made a step. She did move forward but only as much as the step took her. She stepped back and tried again. With the same result.just after her third attempt she heard a scream and saw Lilly, one of the hufflepuff girls lying on the ground a pool of bloom forming around her with an arm left behind where she had been standing before.
she quickly averted her eyes as her stomach began to churn and she watched as the nurse carried her out.
once things had settled down she continued trying but she had lost her focus and unsurprisingly didn’t make it but thankfully also didn’t splinch.

As excited as she was about Apparition, the more time that passed since the last lesson the more nervous Nell became. The entire discipline was based on focus, the thing she had never really been great at. Who could devote all their time and attention to one single thought, when there were so many other interesting ones to think about? She joined her classmates at the Great Hall, trying hard not to let her nerves show. All she had to do was focus and she would be fine. Nell listened carefully to the instructions the lady from the Ministry gave them, spreading out from her classmates when instructed and taking in every bit of information they were given. Only three words to remember, that was easy. She turned her attention to the center of her hoop and tried to focus on nothing else. Just the center of her hoop, easy as that. She would disappear from here and appear there and everything would be fine. It wouldn't be long before she would be popping all over the place, apparating anywhere and everywhere she pleased to go. Nell could just see herself apparating to work at an illustrious newspaper, popping down to the shops for a snack, all sorts of wonderful uses. It took several minutes of daydreaming for Nell to realise she wasn't focusing on her hoop at all. Oh dear. She tried to refocus her thoughts when a loud cry tore her out of them at once and she looked over in shock. Nell had missed what happened, but the blood soaking Lily's robes was impossible to miss and she covered her mouth in horror. Nell could do nothing but watch in dismay as the nurse tended to Lily and removed the Hufflepuff from the room. The poor girl. When they were instructed to carry on, Nell's stomach lurched as she looked back into her hoop. It had been like a preview of what her wandering mind could get her. Nell's tries for the rest of class were half-hearted, and by the end of the lesson she was no closer to apparating than she had been at the beginning.

Clifton would be lying if he said he wasn't nervous about Apparition. He had wanted to learn for a long time, but actually being here was another thing altogether. Clifton was here though, for better or worse, and he tried to just stay focused on the lesson and not think about what could go wrong. He listened as the Ministry lady told them to spread out, finding a good amount of space far away from anyone else. He listened carefully to the rest of her instructions, not wanting to miss anything. When the time came to practice, he took a deep, shaky breath and turned his attention to the hoop. All he had to do was focus, Clifton could do that. Destination, Deliberation, Determination. He focused on his destination and what he wanted to happen, and it was a surprisingly short amount of time before he felt a strange pulling sensation. Startled, Clifton broke his focus before anything could happen, but that was something. He tried again, determined not to chicken out this time, and when the sensation returned he chased it, beaming in pride as he looked around and realised he had landed inside the hoop. Perfect! Or... not quite. He looked back and saw to his dismay that a few ringlets of his hair had been left behind. Oops. Clifton resolved to focus harder as he tried to take a second go, when his thoughts were interrupted by a painfully familiar scream. Clifton looked over in horror to see the blood soaking Lily's robes. "Lily!" He cried out and took a step forward without thinking, pulling up short as he realised she probably didn't especially want him around right now, and even if she did, there was nothing he could do. Clifton felt unbelievably useless as he watched the nurse help Lily away, heart in his stomach. It was impossible to focus on apparating after that, and he left the hall after class both dejected and terrified.

Blake was happy about Apparition classes for a wide number of reasons. The further the year pressed on, the more it was starting to sink in that he was nearly an adult, that he had a future to think about. It wouldn't be long before he was out on his own, getting around under his own steam, and he wanted to make sure nothing would get in his way. An attitude he was beginning to realise he needed to apply to the rest of his life. He knew deep down that Lars was right, that this couldn't be a secret forever, and even deeper down, Blake knew who he would choose between Lars and his family. Every time, without question. But making that choice was easier said than done. Focusing on apparition was easier than thinking about his problems, and for once, Blake was actually glad to have class. Usually studying wasn't anywhere near his strong suit, but apparating was physical. This, he could maybe do. Once the instructions were finished Blake set his mind to his task, focusing on the center of the hoop. He was going to do this. It didn't take long at all until Blake felt a strange tugging and squeezing, and a moment later he looked around in elation as he realised he had landed right in the center of the hoop, just as he hoped. Delighted with his progress, Blake turned around and tried to apparate back to where he had been standing. Again, it didn't take him long to manage to apparate right back there. Delighted with his progress, Blake stayed focused as he practiced apparating back and forth. He was a few practices in when his focus was broken by a loud scream, and Blake looked up in alarm to see some girl bleeding. Oops. Blake had known there was risk involved in this, but there was risk involved in everything he did. He turned his attention back to the hoop once the girl had been taken away, and spent the rest of the class apparating back and forth and practicing his new skill.

Vi was ready for lesson two of Apparition classes. Much like all her other subjects, she was taking everything head on. Vi followed the witch’s direction, the woman was worse than Styx. So bitchy in her ways. Vi wonders what the heck crawled up her undergarment and died in there. Probably her love life. Vi rolled her eyes and spaced herself out from the rest of her classmates. She remembers the three D’s, she recited them silently in her head. Alright, focus. What else needed? She’s been doing this technique all year long, focus. Concentrate.

Destination: there. Right there, a few inches in front of me. Maybe a feet or two. Determination: will. I am determined to get right there. Right where I want to be. With or without anyone else’s help. Focus, Vi. Focus. Deliberation: After considering everything, I want to go there. Take me there. Now. Vi shut her eyes and did all of it inside her head, and...this feeling went over. It was super fast, too quick to describe it. Then she was where she was aiming for, all in one piece. Vi touched her face, touched down her body. Thank Merlin! She was okay, she had done it. Vi’s stomach didn’t appreciate the after feeling it left once it was done, but that would be something she had to work on. For a little while she practiced some more.
