Adorah was feeling a little more excited about proctoring the second round of dueling. She waited until the opponents were ready and then gave them a smile. "One of you go to that side and the other over here. You'll bow and then start. The person who wins will advance to the next round. Begin!" she said.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponent's post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitor's post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Ruth had had a tough duel against Amory and had been happy to get the win. At least, she thought, he could go get a neck rub from a certain Gryffindor and she could go on working on her heel routine. Of course, until she saw her next opponent was Sybil. They had shared the win last time and hadn't been able to duel for it, and Ruth knew Sybil hadn't necessarily been entirely happy about that. Ruth would've been fine letting Sybil take the win then and even now, but she also respected her friend too much to not actually try. She bowed, and opened fire with a leek jinx.

Sybil was reserved in her relief to have won her first duel. She still had a ways to go before she'd be able to claim the title but she felt good and warmed up. But she was less excited to be going up against Ruth so soon. She didn't love firing spells at her friend but she did want to win. She bowed to her roommate but was too slow on the draw but cast a shield charm quickly before returning a stunning spell back at her.

Ruth was a little unsure of how to approach this. She knew Sybil was smart and really good at magic so she didn't think she was really going to do her any harm, but she still wanted Sybil to like her at the end of the day. She blocked the incoming stunning spell with a quick shield charm then paused for a moment before settling on a jelly fingers jinx.

Sybil was impressed by how quick Ruth was but she shouldn't be. There was a reason they had shared the trophy last year. But she was quick too and cast a shield charm before casting another just a moment later. "Tarantallegra!"

Ruth's legs were still a little sore from that last duel. She'd tried to make it look intentional and relatively effortless, but it had been a huge workout. Needless to say, she was not intending to do a repeat performance just yet and scrambled to block the spell. She fired back a locomotor mortis, her brain stuck on the whole sore legs bit.

Sybil kept a close watch on Ruth's movements and noticed how the other girl seemed to fire back less gracefully then before. She took advantage of that and blocked the first spell before picking up the pace and fired off another spell. "Expelliarmus!"
