Vivid stars twinkled through white wisps of cloud overhead of those entering the Great Hall, shining brightly against the velvet darkness of space that blanketed the entirety of its ceiling, dominated by a single pale moon that bathed the room's entrants in a silvery light. The hall itself was further illuminated by flickering candle flames that appeared to sway and float in mid-air as if held aloft by invisible threads, bathing the building's lengthy tables adorned with shining dishes in a warm glow. Katherine herself stood positioned behind a podium at the forefront of the hall, greeting the youths who entered with a silent nod and a small smile. A sea of faces both new and old, from those here for their first year, to those here for their last.

"Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa. Welcome," Katherine began, her eyes sweeping over the sea of faces already gathered at the house tables, and those waiting to join them. "To those of you returning for another year, and to those of you joining us for the first time today. For many of you, this day marks the start of your journey as young witches and wizards in the magical world. The castle and its surrounding grounds will be your home for the next seven years - a place for you all to live, to learn, and to grow. That being said, I must remind the older students, and caution those of you who are new, that the Forbidden Forest is strictly off-limits to students unless supervised by a professor or member of staff. It may look enticing to some of you, but many dangers lurk within the forest. It is restricted for your safety, and any rule breakers will be punished accordingly."

The woman let her warning linger for a moment, eyeing those in particular who appeared more than willing to break that rule, before continuing on. "Now, let's begin. Each of you will be sorted into a house, which you will remain in for the duration of your time here. These houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, named after each of the original founding members of this prestigious school. " As she spoke each name, banners rolled up against the farthest wall suddenly unfurled, depicting the colours and crests of each individual house, matching the silk cloths adorning each table. "You will be sorted based on the values of each founder, and placed with students who embody similar values. First-years, as I call your name, step forward and seat yourselves here." Katherine gestured toward the short stool at the front of the hall, situated in perfect view of everyone present. "Once seated, I will place the Sorting Hat upon your heads, after which your future house will be decided and you are to move on to your table and join your new housemates. This decision is final, and houses cannot be changed once the Sorting Hat has made its decision. Now, let us begin." Ending it on that note, the woman unraveled the roll of parchment in front of her and called up the first name.

As stated in the Information About Sorting thread, you must fill out the sorting form entirely and properly, and proceed to fill in an RP as exemplified in the post. To be sorted, you must have submitted your sorting form, and your RP must leave room for the Sorting Hat to edit your post and sort you - you cannot roleplay the hat's decision in your post. You can edit your post to include a reaction once you are sorted, but be sure that you only reply to this topic once. Thank you.

It comes but once, but once each year,
When, I, the sorting hat appear.
I appear to sort the latest batch,
To look within and find a match.
To seek the person who does reside,
Beneath the skin, deep down inside.

Rest assured, I do take care,
To avoid mistakes and always be fair,
Because I know my duty is very great,
The decisions I make affecting fate.
So do not approach with a sense of fear,
Embarrassed when seated upon your rear.
And when I'm placed upon your head,
Your thoughts should not be full of dread.
Approach with confidence, pure and true,
Give me the chance to honour you.

Those who step forth brave with pride,
Likely in Gryffindor they will reside.
Fire and Lion, scarlet and gold,
A house of friends, strong and bold.

Hard working kids who value fair play,
May find that Hufflepuff is where they stay.
The Earth and Badger, yellow and black.
Loyalty and tolerance, keep them on track.

Creativity and intelligence will help some soar,
Above the rest to Ravenclaw's door.
Air and Eagle, bronze and blue.
The wisdom to make dreams come true.

And finally those, resourceful and cunning,
Ambitious and powerful are in the running.
They'll join the house of silver and green,
Where water and serpents stage the scene.

Now, one last thing, please take heed,
Here is some advice that you may need.
This school has grown in a short time,
So have mistakes and heinous crime.
A challenge to all present, to look within,
No matter the house I've placed you in.
To do your best and persevere,
To use your strengths and face your fear.

The time has come, no more delay,
I call you forth, come on, let's play

She did not believe in herself. Alli was afraid to go with her family, and she did not want to be here or far from her sister. With sister they both was like two apple halves. Like a tile with a lid. Only with her sister Alli feel brave. "I don't belong here and Black family to. I'm Alice Black" She take deep breath.

"You might not feel like you belong but you certainly do, and you'll manage this feeling best in......Hufflepuff,"

Andi could not believe she was here. And the fact that she was here with Doroteya...was just the cherry on the cake. To be out of that awful place...well Andi didn't realize just how awful it was until she arrived at Hogwarts. Hogwarts, a place where she and her best friend would be learning magic, just like the man had said. From the moment she stepped off of the train, it was like they were in a different world. Apart from the fact that they had to run at a wall to get to the train in the first place, but it was the quirkiest, and coolest thing she had ever done. She even had robes! They weren't brand new, but she had a bunch of things that were new to her, and were hers and hers alone. Everything about this new adventure was exciting and Andi was over the moon.
Walking into the Hall, Andi was amazed. Even more amazed, if that could be a thing. It was hard to ignore all the other students watching them, but there were so many new students with her, Andi could hardly care. Besides, she was a witch. She squeezed Teya's hand in excitement as the Head lady started speaking, and she listened as she explained things - listening wasn't a strong suit of Andi's, but this was far too important to ignore. The Forbidden Forest sounded like an idea she'd have to explore later, but Andi was distracted by the names of the Houses. The man had told them what they were, but Andi hardly remembered it. They sounded weird, but she supposed, what else do you expect from magic people? She watched as students went up before her, all being placed in different places, and she suddenly felt a pang of sadness - what if she was seperated from Teya? Finally, it was her turn. Excitement bubbled up in her stomach again, and she squeezed T's hand before making her way up to the front. It was so so weird, but so so exciting.

"This world is very weird...just wait till you meet some of the professors, they can be very weird....but you didn't hear that from me......For you, that drive would suit you well in Gryffindor, but your ambition destines you to.....Slytherin,"

Clara was so excited be here and she was sure that she got Slytherin house. "Are you done?" She asked the hat and she was sure that was silly old hat and nothing she know about her soul.

"You will know when I am done, usually when the cheering starts then I'm done. There's a lot here. You could do well in Slytherin, but I think you'll do better in.....Gryffindor,"

Giulia had been looking forward to today with equal amounts of excitement and apprehension, but now that it was actually here she mostly just felt uncomfortable. Her stomach was tied in knots as she stood with the other first years, looking around the Great Hall slowly. Louis and her uncle Kyle had told her all about it, the ceiling stretching on into forever, but the sight just made Giulia queasy. Not quite as queasy though, as she felt looking out over the swathes of students lining the tables of the hall. There were so many people, and she couldn't even bring herself to look for Louis or Uncle Matt. It felt like every eye in the entire country had to be on them, and she very much didn't want to be the one taking the turn in that spotlight.

"Alcott, Giulia."

Unfortunately for her, the alphabet was not on Giulia's side this time, and she froze with nerves as her name was called up. Learning magic, making friends, all these things sounded thrilling to Giulia, but standing in front of the whole school? That was a bit much, if she was honest. But there was nothing to be done, and Giulia couldn't help wrapping her arms around herself as she dragged her feet all the way to the stool, almost tripping on an uneven patch of floor despite having her eyes locked firmly downwards. As she sat down and faced the school she felt another thrill of terror for a moment, though that feeling was quickly relieved as the brim of the hat fell right over her eyes, knocking her glasses onto an uncomfortable angle as it covered them. She wiggled one hand under the hat to adjust her glasses slightly, blinking as she slowly adjusted to its darkness. It was only once she couldn't see the audience that it finally fully struck Giulia how odd this situation was. A magic hat was reading her mind. She wondered if it could hear her thinking about it right now. Did it have a brain buried somewhere in there? A magical nervous system? At what point of sentience did an object stop being an object and become a person? She wondered what it would be like, having not only all the thoughtfulness of a person but all the information read from thousands of students minds over years and years, but not being able to so much as move. How would a hat pass the time when it didn't have minds to read? Surely just by the value of the knowledge it had absorbed over the years, the hat had to be the wisest being ever to enter this building, it could probably answer thousands of questions if asked. It seemed a bit of a waste to just... unpack it once a year to sort some kids. Pondering the nature of the hat on her head made it much easier not to think about the hundreds of kids watching her sit here, and Giulia continued to think as she waited.

"I can hear you loud and clear. It is good to be curious, and certainly you've made this decision very easy for me....and as for how I pass the time between sortings...well really, what's 355 days when you've lived a thousand years...anyway...Ravenclaw,"

Molly finally made it to Hogwarts! All throughout the break, all she heard her brother yap about was Hogwarts, though when it came to her asking questions about Hogwarts, he would keep his mouth shut and wouldn't answer any of her questions. Deep down, Molly wanted to be in the same house as her brother. Hufflepuff. She knew her brother would be annoyed for a bit if she was sorted in the same house as him, but he'd eventually get over it.

Molly stood with the other first years, where they were all waiting for their name to be called one by one. She waved excitedly to those first years she recognised, whether it was from someone she met from the train or even before she came to Hogwarts. Molly even sent a huge, exciting wave towards her brother, having absolutely no care if The First Year was getting bored with the headmistress' speech and was wondering when it would end. The headmistress' speech was finally over and they were finally having their names called. It wasn't that long until Molly's name was called.

"Molly Burke"

Molly gasped excitedly and skipped towards the stool and took a seat. She then felt that hat being placed on her head. "Hello, Mister hat! Are you a Mister? I'm sorry if you're not! But I'm excited to be here! Will you be sorting me with my brother?" Molly said, not even realising how fast and how many questions she was saying. By the end of her sentence, she had seemed a little more nervous now. What if she wasn't sorted with her brother?

"I'm just a hat..that's all. Don't worry about your brother during all this, this is about you and where you will be best suited by your own merit, and for you that's......Hufflepuff,"

Gwen looked around with wide eyes as she followed the other first years into the Great Hall. She had always imagined Hogwarts would be beautiful, but even her imaginations didn't quite live up to the real deal. But once they entered the Great Hall, Gwen forced herself to stop looking around at the beautiful ceiling and the floating ghosts, but instead focus on what was important. She first scanned the staff table, taking in the different teachers. Of course, she had no way of knowing which ones would be teaching her, but she could at least take note of who looked nice and who didn't. Then, she moved her attention to the four house tables. But Gwen didn't have much time to see which of the tables had the best looking people, because the Headmistress started to speak. Gwen looked in her direction and listened closely, then listened to the hat's song. The hat then started to call out names, and Gwen watched her classmates sit down and get sorted one by one. She already tried to think of who would be good to befriend, but it wasn't very long until her own name was called. Gwen headed over to the stool and sat down, watching the crowd of students with a cheerful smile until the hat went over her eyes and blocked her view.

"Oh....you are interesting, but this is still rather simple. You'll be perfectly suited and find your ambition well placed in......Slytherin,"

It had taken a three-hour conversation with a witch at home, purchasing a wand, and seeing the Hogwarts castle with her own eyes, but Doroteya finally believed in magic. It was mind-blowing to think that this world had existed right under her nose all this time and made her reconsider everything she thought she knew about science. Was gravity a natural force? Or was there a little wizard in the middle of the earth, magically binding things to the ground? Was there really any such thing as the moon, or was it a magical projection thrown against a distant black cloth? Magic, and the knowledge of it, had already separated her so far from the ordinary world. She was not the same person she had been yesterday. There was no going back.

Doroteya gripped Andi's hand like a piece of driftwood in the middle of the sea. Apart from some old clothes, her cat, and a few battered books, Andi was the only familiar comfort she had left. Some sort of magical fate had thrown them together weeks before they had received their letters, Doroteya decided. She was glad she had decided to forgive her for being, well, a little bit stupid, but more than that, she was glad Andi had decided she was worth hanging around.

When Andi's name was called, Doroteya reluctantly released her hand - then gave her a quick shove in the back for good luck. Desperately she hoped they would be sorted into the same house. They were very different people from very different places, but perhaps there was something inside them that was alike - the same something that had brought them this far together. She was knee-deep in this thought when she suddenly heard her name. Already? She stepped up onto the platform and sat down, trying to spot Andi in the crowd as the Headmistress lowered the hat onto her head. Come on, she thought, in Russian. You are a magical hat. You know where to put me!

"That I do...and really this is a little hard. Your drive to read and learn would make you a mighty fine ravenclaw but you have an ambition that cannot be ignored....Slytherin,"

With his last name, Axel knew this was going to be a long wait. It would give him time to continue his observations. He'd already taken in some of his classmates. Some seemed very nervous, others confused, and Axel was entertaining himself by making up stories about them. The ceiling in the Great Hall was the first thing that impressed him and he walked with his neck craned until he banged into someone. "Sorry" he whispered, his cheeks reddening in embarrassment.

Axel tried to find his brother at the tables but there were too many people. This was all a bit overwhelming. Axel took another breath as the line dwindled. They were drawing closer to the end and his time. Finally, he heard his name. Axel let out a deep breath and then walked with as much confidence as he could muster. He was a Zhefarovich after all. Taking a seat on the stool, Axel had only a moment to scan the room before the sorting hat dropped on his head and obscured his vision slightly. The young boy waited to learn his fate.

"Hmmmm....your surname does bring a lot of weight at times, but you'll be just fine, and you'll manage just fine in....Ravenclaw,"

Was Tim worried about actually getting sorted? No, surely not. What bad could happen? Nothing! He was too excited to finally join his sister, he was absolutely sure that he will be in Gryffindor with her. "Hi JJ! Take a seat for me too!" he shouted when finally noticed his sister and then waved at her. Then he was trying to also see Remus but looked like brother sat somewhere where Tim didn't see him.

When started the real sorting, he was glad that he was one of the first people to get sorted. He fastly showed up on the stage, when the hat was on his head, he shook his head a bit to get it more on his head to be sure that it didn't read only the upper part of his brain and didn't put him in some weird house. "I am Gryffindor!" he tried to convince the hat so it doesn't make any mistakes.

"Now that's what I say....But you are right, you are indeed.....Gryffindor,"

Jackson was really excited about this. Since Aaliyah had come to Hogwarts that he hadn't thought about anything else but Hogwarts. The wait was long and the house had been slowly more quiet as each of his siblings, one by one, had left the house to come to the magical school.
He entered the Great Hall surrounded by the other students, soon to be first years, he was trying to get familiar with their faces so he could know who to pull pranks on. At the same time he was mesmerised with the room and the fake sky on top of it and he was also trying to find his siblings in their respective house tables, he was being overwhelmed with this amount of stimulus but he was loving every second of it. He saw his sister in the Ravenclaw table, who gave him a wave, but he couldn't really find his brothers.

Jackson got to the front of the hall and while the headmistress was talking he wondered if he could ever pull a prank on her... maybe as a senior prank and also as his last, he wouldn't mind getting on her bad side on the end of his last year, it was not like she was gonna see him often after that was it? He was slightly impressed with the hat's singing skills, Grayson sang better than that hat but he would never admit that to his brother. When the time finally came and his time to wear the hat came he thought that the odds of him being in the only house, Slytherin, that his siblings weren't was pretty low so no matter what he could always rely on them to keep him company right?

"You would make a pretty good slytherin, but the work put into your pranks, the meticulousness around them has me thinking you'd be better placed elsewhere.....Hufflepuff,"

Julie walked closer to sorting hat and she was looked so amaizing. But how she can do that all this thing every year? She was surprised how this was amaizing patient from her our he? She looked where is her sister but she was not so sure where she belong. "You doing amaizng job here. I wish you a good evening. But mayby Ravenclaw? I like books". She told her a compliment. "Mis, my name is Julie Drake" She was loyal as always she does.

"You want Ravenclaw? You would make a good gryffindor too, an adventurous spirit is lurking within you, but there is certainly a lot of creativity too....hmmm...okay....Ravenclaw,"

Maisie couldn't believe it! She was really here! She was looking around, excited, nervous, taking everything in. She had a small ruby fuchsite around her neck. It was for integration, friendship, and trust, and she couldn't think of a better stone to have with her for her sorting. She watched the other students go up to the front as they were called. It was so exciting to see everyone being sorted into their new homes. She was bouncing on her feet, excitement and nerves tangling together in her stomach. When her name was called, she rushed up and sat down. Hello, hat! You're really smart, knowing where everyone goes! I wish I could stay and ask you all about your life, I'm so curious! Can people send you gifts? Would you know? Oooh, I'm so excited to see where you place me! She giggled, swinging her legs as she waited.

"I appreciate the sentiment but I have no need for worldly possessions so...no gifts. I do know exactly where to place you. You would be a good hufflepuff, but trust me, you will be an even better Gryffindor!"

Maisie's breath caught as she heard the hat's voice inside her head. Her heart hammered, and she couldn't help but giggle as it called out for Gryffindor. As the hat was removed, she stood to the clapping and the cheering. She practically skipped over to the Gryffindor table, sitting down with her new housemates and turning her eyes eagerly back to the ceremony.

Jingyi was more than excited as he walked into the Great Hall for the first time, a big grin on his face as he made sure to stick right close to Xinyi. This was finally it, he was finally going to get to learn magic and fly on the Quidditch pitch and do all the really cool stuff he ad been dreaming about since he learned he was capable of doing magic himself. Of course, first, he was just going to have to get himself sorted and that was something he was just a little worried about. While he didn't care in the slightest what house he ended up in, he was worried about being separated from his twin. What if Xinyi didn't get along in his own house and Jingyi wasn't there to protect him like he always did? No, that just couldn't happen.

"Huang, Jingyi!"

He knew he would be called first, but it was still a surprise to hear it. "It's gonna be okay," he offered to his twin, trying to give him the best reassuring smile he could manage as he made his way to the front and perched on the edge of the stool. Then, the hat was lowered over his eyes and the boy's heartrate picked up. "Look, I don't care what house, really," he muttered, squeezing his eyes shut as he swung his legs under the stool, "Just please, put me with Xinyi. He'll be the identical boy after me. Please. I need to be there for him."

"Where your brother is placed will be up to him...but you...this is difficult. Very difficult. There's a little of most houses really, you'd manage fine in any of the houses...hmmm.....ah yes....Gryffindor,"

Preston Zhefarovich strolled into the Great Hall. His mother and father went to this school over a million years ago, and were both in separate houses. Preston was named after his father's best friend, who was a muggleborn from what his mother told him. Needless to say, he was taught not to care about blood status except for those that were not completely human. Preston saw one of his cousins being sorted today too. Axel. Their grandfathers were triplets, so it was hard to say what sort of cousins they were. First? Second? Preston tried to figure it out while the names were called.

Since his last name was Zhefarovich, he knew that he would likely be the last person to be sorted. Person after person went up, and Preston was losing his patience. They should have just been random or something. Maybe then he wouldn't have to wait long. Preston rolled on the back of his feet, staring ahead with his gray eyes. Finally, his cousin was called. That meant he was next. Preston watched him become sorted, and heard his name. He walked up to the stool and sat down. Now, he waited for his fate to be sealed. He didn't care what house he was suited for.

"Well..there's never just one Zhefarovich for me to sort...but this is an easy one. You've a good amount of Ravenclaw in you, maybe a little Gryffindor but overridingly....Slytherin,"

Akihiro was ready for this. He stood tall, the perfect picture of cool composure as he walked through the castle. It was grand, it was exquisite. It was the perfect place for him to go to school. If only for its aesthetics alone. He had his hands folded behind his back, his head held high and his back straight. He was obviously the best in his class. He studied the others in his year, looking for potential allies. He was unsurprised when his name was called sooner than the others. He walked up, sitting silently and crossing his legs. Alright then, on with it. He instructed blandly. He would have thought the sorting hat would be... more. Less dusty.

"I will get on with it...But I'll just ponder my decision a little longer, acculumalate a bit of dust while I'm at it........Slytherin,"

Akihiro rolled his eyes as the hat spoke. Of course it was dull and petty and boring. He was unsurprised with the hat's answer, standing and walking coolly to the Slytherin table as he was dismissed. He had already expected as much. He found a seat near Gwen and gave her a charming smile before turning his attention to the ceremony. This was a much better view.

Xinyi was nervous. How could he not be? But he stood straight, doing his best to hide it. He smiled shakily at Jingyi as they walked into the castle. It was so big, there were so many people, Xinyi already knew he was just going to be swallowed whole by this place if he wasn't careful. He swallowed nervously as Jingyi was called to the front, watching his brother be sorted. He was tense, his jaw clenched as his name was called. He already knew he was going to be separated from Jingyi. He felt scared as he walked up to the sorting hat. He sat down, holding his breath as the sorting hat slid over his eyes and blocked him from looking at his brother. Jingyi. I just want to stay close to Jingyi. Please, I need him, he pleaded softly, unsure if the hat would care. Xinyi didn't know what he would do if the house called out something other than the house Jingyi had gone to.

"You would be fine with out him..there's a lot here that would make you a good hufflepuff, but I also see a good amount of bravery, perhaps you don't always see it....Gryffindor,"

Xinyi held his breath as the hat spoke, sure he was going to be send away from Jingyi. It was just going to be that way, there was no way he would be worthy of his brother's house. But when the hat shouted Gryffindor, Xinyi sat there a moment, shocked. Wait, what? Had the hat gotten the right twin? It took him a split second to remember to move, but then he was up and he dashed down to his brother, sitting next to him with a shy smile. This was going to be a lot easier than he had thought originally.

Hamish was a little nervous about going to school, but mostly he was just relieved. He pushed his glasses up on his nose, strolling into the castle with Seamus by his side. "This place is huge," he commented idly to his twin, looking around. He stood with his brother as the other students started to be called up. He looked to Seamus with a small smile. "If they separate us, and put you in another house, just sit at that house's table and I'll come to you when the feast starts," he instructed. He wasn't sure what the likelihood of them staying together was, but he knew they could make anything work. Though he didn't know how he was supposed to sleep without Seamus nearby. He was drawn from his thoughts when he heard his name called. He gave Seamus an encouraging smile before walking up and sitting down. This shouldn't be too bad... right?

"Let me assure you, this really won't be too bad...you've a definite creative spirit, a desire to learn and a loyalty to at least one....but it's that creativity which defines this....Ravenclaw,"

Hamish was a little surprised to hear the voice in his head, but listened quietly as it spoke. Creative? He had never thought of himself that way, but he did want to learn and the hat was right, Hamish would die for Seamus. He blinked in the sudden light as the hat yelled out his house and was removed from his head. Ravenclaw, huh? That wasn't so bad. He smiled down at Seamus as he walked over to his new table.

Felix could not stand still. With one step to the right or the left or just bouncing in place, he could not seem to settle down. He thought the train ride had been agony but this was worse, and he didn't even have to wait that long for his name to be called. He felt immensely sorry for anyone with a Q or X at the start of their last name. He still couldn't believe it was finally happening. He was here at Hogwarts and would actually get to see Sawyer and Theia as much as he wanted, or as much as they would tolerate. Standing on his tip toes, he tried to see above the row of heads around him to try and spot them. After a few seconds he spotted Theia and waved wildly.

"Carnahan, Felix!"

He froze mid wave and started to scurry up to the front of the hall. Felix had been far too distracted to pay attention to the headmistress or the hat's song. Besides he knew all about the houses already. He was ready for this but he still couldn't help feel his palms start to sweat as he took a seat and for the first time realized everyone was looking at him. He tried to smile like he was totally cool with what was going on but he feared it might look more like a grimace. With a last deep breath he closed his eyes as the hat was set on his head.

"Don't worry about feeling a little nervous, lots of people feel that way. You've a good interesting in learning and learning for the sake of making people happy. A good amount of adventurousness and determination...but you'll do best in......Hufflepuff,"

Asteria was at Hogwarts, finally. She was gonna have a good education at least but this seemed a bit too posh for her, she felt a little uncomfortable but maybe that was just a side effect of riding the express with Hunter, she honestly just wanted him to shut up because boy, he felt like he swallowed a whole National Geographic documentary. They finally separated when the arrived at Hogwarts, which was great, and she intended to keep it that way for a long long time, the most she could, she was actually thankful the castle was so big.
A lot of kids were being called, she knew how it worked, the hat was placed on their head and he would decide where you belonged to, her adoptive moms had explained that to her at least ten times. Asteria didn't exactly agreed with those methods, seemed a little reckless to let you faith in the hands, or whatever hats have for hands, of a hat. A talking hat nevertheless. She was sure he had all the best intentions but how could he be one hundred percent sure of everything? There was something about losing the control of her life and path that unsettled the eleven years old girl.
Finally her name was called and she sit on the stool, she saw Hunter giving her a smile from the Hufflepuff table. A second ago, or any other time she would consider it pathetic but there was something comforting on his smile this time and for a second she felt a bit better than she wasn't alone in there. Of course that it didn't change the fact that there would be no way in hell that she would accept to be a Hufflepuff and be less than five feet away from Hunter. If the hate could really read her thoughts or whatever, for the sake of himself, he wouldn't put her in the yellow house.

"There is nothing wrong with the yellow house, and you'd manage fine there, but it's not for you. You'd do well in Ravenclaw but the house for you is.......Gryffindor!,"

Robina wasn't as worried as everyone around, who was standing and waiting for her turn to sort, so she could go put her hat on and tell the tower where they were destined to be. She was standing next to her twin brother that could even feel her hands tremble. Robin tapped him lightly on the hand, saying that everything would be fine and that everything would end soon. In the beginning, those whose names had the first letter of the alphabet were called. Until the last one, then followed their turn. It didn't take long for her name to be named. Without any worries, Robina went up the stairs, took her hat from her chair, then sat down and put the hat on her head. ''Hello, miss the hat! My brother was just here. He was in Gryffindor, but I don't want to be there.'' She whispered quietly. "I sincerely want to be Slytherin." However, she left the decision to her hat, because she knew better which house would be right for her. Therefore, Robina sat calmly, waiting for the final result. You will know what it will be in a moment. At least hopefully in a moment. The thoughts in his head were calm, because he could only think of the house he really wanted to be in and had already told the hat about it. All that was left was to wait.

"You'd be fine in slytherin yes and I do consider that that's what you want but, trust me on this...Ravenclaw,"

Ellie Tsai had never left the islands of Hawaii until just before this school year started. She never thought much about traveling and in truth it scared her slightly getting into the floo network to come to New Zealand. First they had gone halfway from home to stop and visit a family relation for a few days and then came to New Zealand where she and her mother took part in the school ritual of gathering all the supplies she needed in Obsidian Harbour. It had been a long day of shopping and at the end she found a stray tuxedo kitten on the streets that she convinced her mom would make the perfect school pet. Looking around at all the first years surrounding her she wondered where her cat was, if he'd be up in her dorm room waiting and if the staff had put out food and water for him during this ceremony and dinner.

Ellie was nervous about the ceremony, she hadn't ever been judged so thoroughly before and she knew that where the hat put her would say everything it needed to about her inner most personality. She watched as the large doors opened into the Great Hall ahead of her. Everyone seemed to start shuffling forward and all the current students were seated at their house tables and watching. It didn't make her feel uncomfortable having their eyes on her. She waited as words were said even though she hardly paid attention, glancing around the room and at the faces around her. Seven years she'd have to be friends or enemies with these people, she wondered how well it would go. Finally her name was called, "Tsai, Ellie." She lifted the robe that was slightly too long for her away from her feet as she climbed the stairs up to the stool where the hat and the person reading their names was waiting. Sitting down the hat came over her face, she was glad at least then she wouldn't need to see everyone's expression when it called out her house. It seemed to take a moment but then she finally heard the hat saying something....

"Most sortings take a moment, and for you there's a number of directions you could be pulled in. But, I see exactly where you should go....Ravenclaw,"
