If Angel was smart, he would have saved his energy and not agreed to proctor this year. But he had never really been that smart. He just hoped no one got too seriously maimed or injured in any of his matches, especially not in the first round. Once the two competitors seemed ready, Angel directed them up to their places at opposite ends of the platforms before address them and the crowd. "Welcome to your first round of duelling, let's have a nice clean duel today. The victor will be able to continue on to the rest of the tournament, and the loser will sadly be eliminated. When you're ready, please bow to your opponent and begin!" He said with a flourish, letting the students get started.
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

While Tilly was excited to duel, she dreaded the competition at the same time. It was a heavy burden to be last year’s champion. She did think she had won mostly by luck, which only made it worse. Tilly had accepted that she would likely not win this year; it would just be embarrassing not to make it through the first round.

The Hufflepuff stood across from Flynn North. She was sure he would be a formidable opponent. Hopefully, she could smack him with a few spells as she did with her bludgers.

Tilly bowed to Flynn and waited for Professor Castillo’s permission to begin. Then, she threw a decisive “Stupefy!” towards the Gryffindor. No reason not to start off strong.

Flynn didn't really want to get knocked out in the first round again but was aware this was going to be difficult seeing as he was up against the previous winner from their year. But still, he was sure he could do this and was not about to let the girl have it easy. "Protego!" He was quick to throw up a shield charm to deflect the stupefy which came right for him before following up with his own attack, "Expelliarmus!"

Seraphina had neglected to sign-up for the dueling tournaments this year, mostly because she had made a fool of herself during her previous duel with Tilly. Now that they weren't really fighting or dueling themselves, she wanted to sneak in and see Tilly from afar. Surprised to see the Gryffindor seeker up there with her, Seraphina sulked in the corner, watching as the duel began, admiring how powerful the Hufflepuff looked.

Tilly raised her wand just in time to block Flynn’s attempt at disarming her. She was happy she’d spent so much time practicing the Shield Charm during her years at school. The Hufflepuff took a strong stance, casting a particularly unpleasant spell she’d learned recently- the Jelly Fingers Curse. She knew it was a long shot, but she hoped she could render Flynn’s wand useless.

He didn't really expect his first spell to actually make any contact, so he wasn't so bothered when she managed to reflect it. He was also just as prepared for the comeback, managing to throw up another shield to protect himself before sending his own Stupefy right back at her.

Tilly steeled herself against Flynn's next Stunning Spell, throwing up a Shield Charm again. The Gryffindor really was not holding back. Oh well, more fun for her. Setting her jaw, she shot back with the Slug Vomiting Curse. She'd never actually cast it on anyone. Tilly was both eager and nervous to see the results.

Flynn decided that he wanted to try and save his energy for casting spells, so tried to go ahead and dodge the next spell Tilly sent at him. Which happened to be a bad move as he didn't avoid it completely. Not good. He managed to think quick, sending a Petrificus Totalus across at the Hufflepuff to cover himself before having to turn to the side as a rather disgusting slug forced its way up his throat and out his mouth. But he could still fight, he would just have to try and cast spells in-between throwing up slugs.

Jordie wasn't about to miss Tilly dueling. He watched excitedly as she fought a Gryffindor he didn't know. "Whoo! Go Tilly!!" He cheered as she landed a slug vomiting spell. That had to hurt.

A smirk curled Tilly’s lips as Flynn retched up a wriggling black slug. Perfect. She managed to sidestep his spell, just barely dodging it. The Hufflepuff returned with an Everte Statum she was sure would knock him off his feet. Feeling overconfident, Tilly shouted, “Had enough yet, North?”

Flynn was having fun, but now he was just having a no good very bad time. It was a blessing that there was a moment of no slugs so he could throw up a shield charm to protect himself from the next spell. He did go to try and hurl another spell across the platform at the Hufflepuff, but when he opened his mouth, all that happened to come out was another slug. This was a nightmare.

Tilly was ready to protect herself from Flynn’s next spell. Unfortunately, he didn’t seem able to manage even that. She waved her wand and cast another Stupefy. It seemed like the prime opportunity to knock him down.

He decided to quickly dodge the next spell she sent in his direction, actually managing to get out of the way of that one. This was still possible, he just needed one good disarm, and then he would win. This wasn't over. So, he quickly hurled another Expelliarmus across the platform just about a second before another slug forced its way out. This was one of the worst days of his life.

Tilly was quite perplexed that Flynn hadn't tried to use a reversal spell to solve his slug problem, though she wasn't about to give him the suggestion. The Hufflepuff blocked his Disarming Charm with Protego again. She had to admit she was feeling tired. But if she was anything, she was persistent. A little hard work was not going to take her down. She cast Expelliarmus, returning his spell and hoping she was just that much more on target.

The slugs were starting to come a little slower now, the spell finally starting to wear off. Which was something. He could still do this. Throwing up another shield charm to protect himself from the counter-attack, Flynn quickly went through the spells in his head before deciding on one, trying his own Jelly Fingers Curse. If she couldn't hold her wand, then she couldn't duel anymore and he would win.

Tilly was really starting to wish she could just knock Flynn out. The Hufflepuff was more than ready to take a break. She was slow as she dodged the Gryffindor’s curse, and it barely missed her. She returned with another Stunning Spell, hoping it would be the end of this.

There was a rather horrible taste in his mouth he couldn't wait to try and get rid of. Not to mention he was starting to get pretty worn down from all this action, on top of his throwing up. And the floor was rather slippery from all the slime which came with the stupid slugs. He really hoped he hadn't stepped in any of them by accident, that would be disgusting. He could almost taste victory (among other things), feet dancing out of the way of her next spell as he more spat than threw up another slug off to the side, before he decided to try and get a bit of revenge, sending his own Slug Vomiting curse right on back.

A horrible sensation twisted Tilly's guts as Flynn's spell slammed into her. She doubled over, puking up a fat, oozing black slug onto the platform. The Hufflepuff wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, glaring back at Flynn. She knew she was just tasting her own medicine at this point. If she could get herself together, maybe she could still win this thing.

The wicked grin which stretched across his face when his spell actually hit Tilly was something glorious. "Ha, how do you like that," he couldn't help but brag, the grin only widening as he watched her throw up a slug, "Not nice, is it?" He didn't bother sending another spell back, taking just a moment to try and get some energy back while he could as she also didn't try and attack him. For now, he was more than happy just to take this small victory.

Tilly narrowed her eyes at Flynn. She was surprised when he didn't choose to attack her again. Instead of replying to his taunts, she returned with a resounding, "Stupefy," timing it just before she hurled up another slug. She was very tempted to pick up the slug and throw it across the room at him, but that was probably against the rules.

It wasn't easy trying to cast spells while throwing up slugs, he knew that from experience. Hopefully, now she was suffering as well it might help tip the scale in his favor. She might miss a shield charm because she had a slug in her mouth. While he was still feeling the effects of all this spell casting, he managed to put up a shield to protect himself before quickly firing back with an Expelliarmus, hoping that she might not get the chance to block it properly.

Gritting her teeth, Tilly dodged Flynn's spell again. It wasn't as easy to cast with slugs in one's mouth. For half a moment, Tilly was tempted to swallow down the next slug that came up, hoping that would be the end of it. But no, that would just make her feel more sick. Instead, she vomited the slug quickly and pointed her wand at the floor. "Locomotor slug," she managed, flicking her wrist towards Flynn and hoping at the very least to smack him in the face with the slimy, wriggling creature.

He watched Tilly carefully, just feeling more and more pleased as she had to dodge out of the way of his next spell before throwing up yet another slug. But what he wasn't prepared for was when she decided to flick the stupid slug across at him. Flynn simply scowled as it smacked him in the face, using his free hand to try and wipe off the slime, "Cheap shot." He might have been more bothered about it if he hadn't been hurling up slugs himself only a short while ago. So, instead, he focused on the counterattack, trying his own Stupefy and really hoping he could just put this whole duel to rest sooner rather than later.

Tilly grinned wickedly when her slug hit its mark. She knew it was even more disgusting given that she'd thrown it up herself. Perhaps fighting dirty wasn't beneath her after all. "Thought you could use a new friend!" she taunted. She threw up her Shield Charm again. To be honest, she hadn't expected to be so evenly matched with Flynn. It was both exhilarating and infuriating. She shot back with another Stupefy and hoped to knock Flynn on his backside once and for all.

She seemed to enjoy hitting him in the face with a slug, which, he supposed he could understand. He'd find it pretty amusing as well. "I have enough friends already!" He shouted back, vague gesturing to all the slugs he had been throwing up earlier which were still milling about his feet. Protecting himself with another Protego, he tried another Petrificus Totalus to take her down. One of them was going to break soon and it sure as hell wasn't going to be him.
