When Odette had received the news that she was going to be the new captain of the Slytherin Quidditch Team, it had been hard for her to believe. To be afforded this kind of chance had been beyond what she had ever hoped for. A part of her was nervous, particularly because she still wasn't the oldest person on the team by far. In fact, of all the people holding permanent positions on the team, she was the youngest. But she had worked hard and trained a lot over the past few years. Maybe that was why Charlotte had chosen her? If Asaiah had stayed around, she was sure he would have gotten it. She vowed to write him about this soon, including a play-by-play of the tryouts. The team was fairly empty and in need of replacements. Almost all the alternates they had were trying for the beater position, which she understood but was frustrated by nonetheless. They really needed some other alternates in case something happened in a match. There were quite a few permanent positions to be filled as well. A lot of members of the team had graduated or, in Asaiah's case, dropped out.

Odette held her head high when the team arrived, refusing to show her nerves. She half-expected one of the older players to demand her captain's badge, as a part of her didn't really believe she deserved it. That didn't mean she was going to give it up, though. She had been on the team since her second year and rationally knew she had earned her spot, even if she wasn't sure if she could do it justice. When everyone had arrived, Odette started to speak. "My name is Odette Harper, I'm a beater on the team and starting in this year I'll also be the team's captain. For those of you that are here to try out, please give me your name and the position you want to try out for. There are a few spots free on the team, but we also need a variety of alternates in different positions." Then she nodded at her teammates. "The current members on the team will practice and are available to help you with your try-out." She was aware that her speech was more formal than the ones she remembered Charlotte giving, but she was perhaps also more nervous. It wasn't always easy for her to be friendly. With her old captain in mind, she forced herself to smile at the people present. Maybe it would be less intimidating that way. "We can begin." She declared. Nervous butterflies danced in her stomach as she watched the people line up. She really wanted to put together a good team. The way they had lost last year still hurt, and now it fell on her shoulders to turn it around.

OOCOut of Character:
Players from the previous year are guaranteed their spot without needing to try out again - as long as attendance is posted before try-outs are over. Alternates, however, will need to try out again.

First years are required to PM me for approval before attempting to try out.

Rory was really glad to be back at school. As he always was after a break of dealing with brats and their wands. He looked up at the captain. He was not particularly happy with who had been made quidditch captain. He didn't like for the most part that she was younger than him. But then again, it wasn't like he was friendly to anyone and clearly talents didn't matter so long as you were nice enough to the captain. Clearly. Although Rory didn't care, he was just happy to be on the team, and continue to waste time with this team. Soon enough he'd be graduating and he would be glad to have been a part of the team. Rory got up on to the broom when he was able to and fly into the air to practice with some of the chasers that were trying out.

Sapph made her way down to the Quidditch try-outs. She wasn't sure about this, but she had made up her mind. She had been practicing must of the summer, and every chance she had found here at school. There was one thing she was good at, and she needed an outlet for it. And what better way to turn her fighting skills into something a bit more... constructive, than to be a Beater? She had attended a few games last year, though she had watched quietly. It looked exciting, she had to admit that.

She took her place with the others trying out. When asked for name and position, she straightened up and tried to look bigger than she was. Being small had always bothered her a bit. "Sapphire Michaels. I'm trying out for the Beater position."

She could be a beater, she knew it. She could be a good one, as long as she focused. She listened to the older girl- Odette, with her speech. Once she had finished, Sapph kicked off and went into the air. She was fast, and she had a strong arm. Her aim needed a little work, but she hoped her speed and ferocity would be enough to make up for that. She hadn't really practiced with anyone else before, determined to make it on her own. If she did manage to survive the try-outs, though, she would try to be more sociable.

A few months ago the idea of his ex girlfriend being his new Quidditch captain would have been Hayden's worse nightmare but he had moved passed the whole thing and hopefully Odette felt the same. Hayden took his broom and headed down to the pitch for the tryouts. When he arrived at the pitch Odette was already there, he kept his distance from the girl but he did shoot her an encouraging thumbs up. Even after all their personal drama he knew that Odette would do a good job leading the team.

Leda had waited ages for this day, and now it was finally here and she was going to make sure that by the end of it, the Slytherin Quidditch team knew who she was. Her sister had been on the team, admittedly for the wrong house although she'd never say that out loud or with Mervyn around, but she wanted to follow in Olives footsteps and besides, being on a team this popular would give her the best access to any juicey information flying through the school in the different year groups.

"My name is Leda. I'm trying out for Seeker." Apparently Slytherin already had one, but they needed alternates and it wasn't as though Lestat would be around forever. He looked as though he was one of the old students so hopefully he would be gone soon. When it was her turn, the third year mounted her broom, taking off into the skies to find the ball that everyone said was so impossible to locate. Clearly not. If Olive could do it so could she. She flew around in the air, careful not to go to fast, eyes narrowed as she looked for it. She had perfect eyesight and had even come prepared with lightly tinted sunglasses so that the only light reflections she would see would be coming from the small golden orb she was hunting down. She cleared her mind, trying not to overthink it or worry that she was being too slow. It would be a game changer if she caught it and it was supposed to be difficult, and that was why she needed the position. She knew she was special and she knew she could do it, not everyone had that luxury. After a while she noticed a glimmer, and wasn't going to let it escape until she confirmed or denied that she'd found the snitch. Pitching up the pace it did seem to be moving, and speeding up to catch up to it she grinned to herself as the realisation hit her. Now she just needed to catch it. Just when she thought she could reach out, it zipped out wide, moving almost outside the pitch and around the back of the stands. Not wanting to give up, the Slytherin followed it's path, never letting up until it was back into the centre of the pitch. Shed had enough chasing. She sped up, reaching out her hand and pushing forward as much as she could, aware though thst she was almost out of pitch in front of her. Before it had a chance to fly off again Leda closed her fingers around the ball, gripping it tightly and almost falling a few feet through the air in a very ungrateful landing. It didn't matter though, she'd caught it.

Moving back to the Captain at a gentle jog, Leda thrust the snitch towards her. Need she say more? She was perfect.

After missing the Slytherin try outs last year, Jasmine was determined to turn up on time today. Being on the Quidditch team meant a lot to the young Slytherin and she wasn't about to pass up the chance again. She arrived at the Quidditch Pitch as early as she could with Antonio and with her broom in hand she walked on to the Pitch and nodded at her other potential team members. When Odette finished her speech she stepped forward and cleared her throat "Jasmine Wolfe trying out for the position of Chaser!" she stated confidently. She was ready for this, Gray would be so proud of her for getting on the team again. She flashed a smile at Antonio and walked forward.

She marched into the centre of the pitch and kicked off from the ground and flew around the ground a couple of times to get warmed up. Soon the trial began and Jasmine instantly grabbed the Quaffle and flew as quick as she could down the other end of the pitch. She threw the ball through the left hoop and it actually went in and she scored! Jasmine grinned and only wished her brother was here to see her try out. She grabbed the Quaffle once more and teared down the other side of the pitch and aimed the Quaffle through the middle hoop but unfortunately missed. She cursed and flew around in circles a couple of times out of frustration but looked in search of the Quaffle in the attempt to score once more. She got hold of the ball and immediately flew down to the posts and launched it through the right goal post! She cheered and flew back down to the ground and went to sit on the stands to watch the rest of the try outs.

Liam was in a good humor today, but he kind of hoped Charlotte would be still around to be their captain, but she wasn't anymore she was gone. The boy wanted to make the Quidditch Team badly and thought people had an good image of him, because he made the team as an alternate last year. But now there were options for a actual spot to play at each game and Liam kind of liked that. He would like the attention from the girls no matter what, and that was worth it. It also made people hear of him more he figured. And next to that he liked playing Quidditch really much. When Liam made his way to the pitch he smiled as he saw a large group already. Ofcourse he wasn't the only one, that would try out. He heard that Odette was his new team captain and he kind of liked that. He had a spot for the girl, she was on fire he thought. Odette didn't seem like the regular girl and not someone who would fall for his charm easily he figured, but he liked a challenge. And he would adore her as a captain. He smiled bright as he looked at his new captain, or at least he hoped she would be if he made the team.

When it was his turn he smiled and looked around. '' Hi Liam, you know me.'' the boy winked shortly at Odette and continued. '' I'm trying out for beater again. But I think I can play any position.'' The boy said confident but friendly. Liam took his broom and kicked off from the ground. It was time again and he enjoyed flying in the air. He moved quickly and made sure he hold his beater bat tight. He went out looking for bludgers and quickly he saw one. He was shorly distracted by Jasmine a pretty girl from his year and smiled at her. He almost got hit himself by a bludger but was right on time with focussing again and took a big swing at it. He hit someone! He couldn't tell who it was, but he didn't cared at that moment. When he moved on he missed some bludgers or they went in the wrong direction but he found his good aim again at the end and hit a few people with bludgers. When it was time to get on the ground again he smiled and made a bow for Odette and decided to look at the others for a moment.

After being an alternate on the team for two years in a row, even if she’s got to play some matches in the past, Sara wanted to try out again this year, except the only difference would be to try another position. She was going to do her best, because Quidditch was important for her. Not doing too many other activities also helped with having more time for practice. And being in the air was a feeling Sara hoped she wouldn’t have to let go of anytime soon. When she arrived to the pitch with her broom in hand, she spotted some of the members from last year, but really few of them. She was surprised. She’d thought that there would be more demand for having a position on the team. But maybe, this would give her more of a chance to get a permanent position.

She lined up with the others, and noticed she was the oldest one trying out. When she reached Odette, she smiled and congratulated her on the position. She was sure the older girl knew her, but just in case she introduced herself. "Sara, trying out for Chaser," she told her, before she swung a leg over the broom and kicked off the ground. This was different from other years she tried out, as instead of blocking goals she was going to attempt scores. She took a deep breath, before flying to a hoop that was already guarded by someone. With the quaffle that she had grabbed earlier tucked under her arm, when Sara was close enough she swung her arm back as far as possible before she threw the quaffle, and cheered when it went right through the middle hoop. Some team practice had allowed her to observe one or two chasers. She caught the ball when the keeper threw it back out and she decided to fly in the opposite direction, ducking and swerving to the side to dodge incoming players (or bludgers). When she was close enough to the hoops she threw the ball as far as she could and cursed as it hit the pole. The next three she managed to get in, but the last one was caught by the keeper. She sighed, figuring she did as much as she could. When time was up, she flew back down to the ground and thanked Odette before leaving the pitch, pleased with how tryouts had gone and nervous at the same time.

Antonio had served as an alternate the previous year and now there was an open spot at beater he was confident he could take it. He had made his way down to the pitch with broom and club in hand. He was glad that Jasmine would also be trying out again, being on the team together had been fun in their first year and if the two of them could be starters together that would be even better.

Once he was on the pitch Antonio headed to the group and listened to Odette as she gave her speech. Once she was done Antonio stepped forward to introduce himself. "Antonio Rey-Martinez, trying out for beater," He said with a nod to the captain. Antonio had been part of the team for two years already and was hoping that experience would put him in good stead for the open spot. Antonio mounted his broom and did a couple laps of the pitch to warm himself up before he began trolling the skies for bludgers. Early on Antonio spotted a bludger heading towards Jasmine and he wasn't letting that happen. Antonio shot forward to intercept the bludgers path and fired it away from Jasmine. Antonio went after another bludger which was hurtling for a seeker. Antonio spent the rest of the tryout flying around the other players trying out. He managed to hit a few more bludgers before finally returning to the ground and finishing his tryout.

Zennon couldn't believe it, he was so excited. He'd wanted to be on the Quidditch team for some time and he couldn't believe that he was finally going to be doing it. He'd heard that Analei was going to try out for the Hufflepuff team, but he wasn't sure. They'd not talked about it. He supposed he could ask her later. Nodding to himself, Zennon headed out onto the pitch and made himself noticeable as he announced his intention to try out. "Zennon Baros, trying out for Chaser." He mounted his broom and took off into the sky.

Zennon had enjoyed playing quidditch with his siblings when he was younger, they made a full team with his parents involved. Zennon caught a quaffle and raced another chaser around the pitch before throwing the quaffle to the hoops, missing splendidly when the quaffle wasn't thrown hard enough to make it. Zennon headed for another quaffle and moved closer to the hoops again. He threw the quaffle, harder this time and managed to watch it sore past the keeper. Zennon whooped and clapped before losing balance and almost falling off his broom. He laughed at himself before he headed back down onto the pitch.
