Vivid stars twinkled through white wisps of cloud overhead of those entering the Great Hall, shining brightly against the velvet darkness of space that blanketed the entirety of it's ceiling, dominated by a single pale moon that bathed the room's entrants in a silvery light. The hall itself was further illuminated by flickering candle flames that appeared to sway and float in mid-air as if held aloft by invisible threads, bathing the building's lengthy tables adorned with shining dishes in a warm glow. Katherine herself stood positioned behind a podium at the forefront of the hall, greeting the youths who entered with a silent nod and a small smile. A sea of faces both new and old, from those here for their first year, to those here for their last.
"Welcome," Katherine began, her eyes sweeping over the sea of faces already gathered at the house tables, and those waiting to join them. "To those of you returning for another year, and to those of you joining us for the first time today. This day marks the start of your journey as young witches and wizards in the magical world. The castle and its surrounding grounds will be your home for the next seven years - a place for you all to live, to learn, and to grow. That being said, I must remind the older students, and caution those of you who are new, that the Forbidden Forest is strictly off limits to students unless supervised by a professor or member of staff. It may look enticing to some of you, but many dangers lurk within the forest. It is restricted for your safety, and any rule breakers will be punished accordingly."
The woman let her warning linger for a moment, eyeing those in particular who appeared more than willing to break that rule, before continuing on. "Now, let's begin. Each of you will be sorted into a house, which you will remain in for the duration of your time here. These houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, named after each of the original founding members of this prestigious school." As she spoke each name, banners rolled up against the farthest wall suddenly unfurled, depicting the colours and crests of each individual house, matching the silk cloths adorning each table. "First Years, as I call your name, step forward and seat yourselves here." Katherine gestured toward the short stool at the front of the hall, situated in perfect view of everyone present. "Once seated, I will place the Sorting Hat upon your heads, after which your future house will be decided and you are to move on to your table and join your new housemates. This decision is final, and houses cannot be changed once the Sorting Hat has made its decision. Now, let us begin." Ending it on that note, the woman unraveled the roll of parchment in front of her and called up the first name.

OOCOut of Character: Please Read
As stated in the Information about Sorting thread, you must fill out the sorting form entirely properly and then come here and post an RP. If you post an RP and then fill out the app or if your RP does not leave room for the sorting hat to sort you: you will not be sorted. If the sorting hat does not receive your sorting form first or at all: you will not be sorted. Follow instructions and: you will be sorted.

You can edit your post once you are sorted, but be sure that you only reply to this topic once. Thank you.

The time has come now once again,
To greet you all in song.
New year, new friends, and all new faces,
In amongst the throng.

But who am I? The Sorting Hat!
I'm here to sort you all.
I'll tell you soon where you should go,
Be you great or small.

The bravest of you might become
Old Gryffindor's new pride.
Your bold, courageous housemates
Will always have your side.

Or Ravenclaw might better suit
Those clever of the mind.
Your wisdom will grow far here
if you're scholarly inclined.

In Hufflepuff the fair and true
Will find their closest friends.
A house made strong by working hard
To achieve their ends.

In Slytherin a cunning heart
Will see your goals succeed.
Your ambitions will be fostered
All subtle in your deed.

So try me on! I never bite
And hardly ever dither.
Your house awaits, as does the feast
So call the students hither!

Sierra was beyond excited to finally be at Hogwarts. She had watched both her brothers leave and get sorted, and it was finally her turn! The train ride over was already fun, Sierra had made a ton of friendship bracelets, ready to hand out! She'd have to find Jasper and Luna as soon as she could to give them their ones - those ones she made at home. The biggest smile possible was on her face as they were lead to the front of the Hall, and Sierra stood, grinning at the Headmistress, but not entirely listening to what she was saying. There was too much to look at! All the other students, the ghosts, the enchanted ceiling - it was all so exciting! Sierra could barely keep herself still as she watched all the other students sorted before her. With a surname like Woodlock, she was one of the last ones, but she still cheered for every person who got sorted, the loudest for Jasper and Luna.
Finally, finally it was her turn. Sierra had to control herself from skipping up to the Hat, an unusual feeling of nerves settling in her stomach as she sat down. She didn't mind, really, what House she would be in, but the suspense was killing her!

"Don't worry, this won't take long. Better be...Gryffindor!"

Jasper was eager to get sorted. He had avoided his sister in favor of his cousins. He hoped for Slyhterin or Gryffindor- preferably Gryffindor so he could be with Onyx. He filed into the Great Hall with the other kids. He knew this sorting business would take forever. Micheals was pretty far down on the list. He wished Ember were here somewhere. But she had to go to Hogwarts Scotland. Lame.

Jasper passed the time by imagining all the adventures he could have. Amaya would be jealous and Onyx would be proud. He was so caught up in his musings he almost missed his name being called. With a large grin, he rushed forward. In his haste he stumbled a little going up the steps. But he didn't care. He sat down quickly, excited as the sorting hat slid over his eyes.

This was the moment of Truth. You know everything, he told the hat eagerly so help me shine.

"Shine, you say? Slytherin would help you on your way, but if you're sure...Gryffindor!"

Lars had heard things about Hogwarts from Fleur, but now that he was actually here he realized how little justice her words had done the castle and its atmosphere. It had been amazing to view it from a distance, and Lars was already planning to head out to the grounds as soon as he could to sketch the beautiful building. He wondered how many people would react weirdly if he put up an easel and started to paint outside, but he figured a few odd looks were worth it. He was pretty used to getting odd looks anyway.

Lars followed the other first years in the great hall, looking around with wide eyes. He hoped he didn't stand out too much in the group, though he was pretty tall for his age. He had grown a lot over the summer, which meant his arms and legs now felt too long and awkward sometimes, which was really strange. Nervously, Lars scratched his nose as he glanced around. He spotted Fleur at the Gryffindor table, as she wasn't easy to miss with her red hair. He was glad his own hair was more of an auburn. Not because the red was ugly, but it did stand out a lot. He smiled when he noticed his sister waving at him, and raised his hand to wave back, only to change his mind halfway through. Others would be able to see him, and they might think that was weird. He tried to disguise the motion by fidgeting with his sleeve, but he was sure he looked odd. He probably would have looked less weird if he had simply waved. His ears felt hot as he looked at the floor, listening to the hat's song without looking up. Soon after, students were being called. He looked up now to see the students make their way to the hat to get sorted. He was glad Fleur had told him about this process, though it did seem strange to him. When it was his turn, his stomach dropped. He took a deep breath before walking over to the stool and sitting down. Before the hat was placed on his head, the boy closed his eyes to block out the crowd. A part of him hoped he would be with his sister, but there was another part of him that wasn't so sure if he wanted that. Fleur was very protective of him, and it could be stifling. Besides, he didn't think he was much of a Gryffindor based on everything he had heard about the house.

"Ravenclaw!"

Mihail Styx finally entered the great hall, where he saw the familiar castle that his dad spoke much about. Mihail could feel the excitement in his bones, even though he kept a straight face. He had to play cool. He did not want to lose his composure. He got to meet a few others, one being Cya, though he didn't know her full name, and Jasper. He looked around for the two, but could not find them. Oh well. He could play catch up later. He waited for a while before his name was called, and he walked up to the front of the podium. All eyes on him. Another Styx. He felt the hat on his head, and waited for the verdict.

"Hufflepuff!"

Katia Hensel felt that she would do so much more when she was in the school. Her mom was in Ravenclaw, and while she thought that the house might have done well for her, Katia was not sure for herself. As much as she wanted to learn, she wanted it to suit her own needs. She could be a Slytherin like her uncle Leviathan. But, her cousin, Andromeda, was in Hufflepuff. Strange how things worked out. Soon enough, she heard her name and walked up to the front. She felt the hat on her red hair, and thought that it might have been probing. Yet, she felt nothing. What sort of magic was this? Something she had never read about.

" No, no, no. Slytherin is not right for you. Your thirst for knowledge can only be quenched if you're in...RAVENCLAW!"

Thyonia Snow had a lot on her mind, but sorting was definitely one of the top. Where would she go? Thyonia just assumed Slytherin because that was in her family. She walked into the Great Hall, hiding a yawn behind her pale hand. She waited patiently for her turn. Eventually, she heard her name. She walked up to the front, meeting eyes with her prefect brother in the meantime. She sat down and felt the accessory on her head. She patiently, somewhat, waited for the moment to be separated from the peers.

"Gryffindor!"

Maddy's head was whirling with a heady mixture of conflicting emotions. She was so excited to finally be here, where she would learn magic, in a castle just like the ones in Sebastian's stories. This was going to be such an epic adventure, she was certain of it. She couldn't wait to explore, to get in trouble, to discover all the cool things Wills had told her about, and even more of her very own. And yet, in order to do so, she had to leave one of her brothers behind. It had been hard enough when William went off to Hogwarts without them, but Seb had been distraught at the time, and Seb would have no sibling left to look after him, to protect him. It wasn't fair. Maddy had always been the leader, the most independent of the three, it should have been her that went to Hogwarts first . . . but then she would have been leaving both of the others behind.

Maddy looked around impatiently as she waited in the Great Hall with the enormous crowd of other first years. She had never seen so many people in one place. It was exhilarating, and overwhelming. She searched for Wills over at the Slytherin table, spotted him, and waved enthusiastically. He waved back, and she grinned. Maddy didn't pay much attention to the speeches going on, more interested in taking in all she could see of this cool castle and it's crowd of wizards, but she heard the annoying bit William had told her about saying they weren't allowed to go into the forest. What a stupid rule. Forests weren't dangerous, not if you knew how to navigate them properly. Maddy supposed it might make sense to forbid them to kids who didn't know what they were doing, but she and her brothers had been exploring forests all their lives. There wasn't any danger in that environment they couldn't deal with, not even magical creatures like Mum and Dad worked with. Surely that rule didn't apply to them. Well, rules or no rules, it was awesome that there was a forest near the school, and Maddy was definitely going to explore it as soon as possible.

She passed the interminable wait while other first years were sorted daydreaming about the adventures she'd have once she finally got let loose on the castle. And then, more suddenly than it had any right to, her name was called. All at once, Maddy felt the cold chill of panic that had been masked by her excitement until now. She'd been trying not to think about this moment. She drew up all the confidence she could muster and strode up to the hat on the stool. She couldn't let William see how scared she was now. Only a few hours ago they'd been joking about it, how weird it was that a hat could determine your future. She knew her brother hand found it unsettling, though of course he wouldn't say so explicitly, but she'd brushed it off then. She sat on the stool, and the hat slid down over her eyes, mercifully blocking out the expectant gazes of that staggering quantity of people. Maddy was very aware that it could see her thoughts. How worried she was about her brothers, how she wanted to be in the same house as Wills so she could stay close to him, but doubted she would fit there. Her dreams of adventure, and forests, and dragons. She took a deep breath and tried not to admit she was scared while the hat made its decision.

"There's no doubt. You're a... Gryffindor!"

Jasper was practically bouncing up and down as he made his way into the great hall, accidentally bumping into the person in front of him in his haste to see what the hall looked like. He was a little sad about his cousin Arkose, who had decided to attend Hogwarts in Scotland instead. He would have liked to have someone here that he knew, but he also knew he woud make friends soon enough. He already recognized some people he had run into before school started, like Sierra. He scanned the house tables for his older cousins, grinning at them in turn when he noticed them. Then he looked at he hat as it started to sing. It wasn't a bad song, but in Jasper's opinion it was a bit long. He was starting to grow impatient, which only worsened when he realized they were being called in order of their last name. Why couldn't he have a last name with an A? He watched impatiently as other kids were called forward and sorted into the different houses, looking at each table carefully and wondering where he would end up. He nearly ran forward when he heard a 'Jasper' be called, only to realize it was some other Jasper. He watched the boy carefully, memorizing his face so he could talk to him later. He was interested in meeting someone else with his name though he also wanted to definitely be the better of the two Jaspers. It wasn't long until he heard his name called again, and this time it really was meant for him. Jasper strode towards the stool confidently, though he was starting to feel a little nervous as he sat down. "Hi." He murmured as the hat was lowered onto his head.

"Ooh, interesting...interesting. Your ambitions will truly be served in one house: Slytherin!"

Nell felt so excited she could about burst. She was here, she was finally here. Hogwarts. After years of pestering Stella for every detail about the school, it almost felt like it couldn't possibly be true. The Great Hall looked exactly how Stella had described it, and Nell gazed up in awe at the ceiling stretching on above them forever. It was almost too much, and after struggling to tear her eyes away, Nell turned them to the tables, struggling to pick Stella out among the blue-clad crowd. She beamed brightly at her sister when she caught her eye, bouncing slightly with excitement. Stella was right here, and after waiting so long she finally got to be around her sister all the time again! They could study together and she could ask Stella questions about classes, and new friends, and everything else! Nell couldn't wait!

It was difficult to stay still as Nell watched her future classmates being called up one at a time, mentally cursing her own surname as they went. She tried to memorise as many names as she could, wondering which of these people would be her new friends. Everything was new and exciting and full of potential, and Nell was ready to get started on her new life at Hogwarts. Finally, finally, when the crowd of entrants had dwindled to almost nothing, it was Nell's turn. She grinned in excitement the whole way to the stool, taking her seat and clasping her hands excitedly in her lap as the hat was placed upon her head, slipping quickly over her eyes.

"Ravenclaw!"

Clifton was well aware that Hogwarts was big, but compared to his school in England it felt positively gigantic. The reality that he was going to live in a castle was only beginning to sink in, and the sheer amount of people he was surrounded by felt overwhelming. It was hard not to be nervous, thinking that any of these people could turn out to be a bully, but any of them could turn out to be a friend as well, and it felt better to focus on that possibility. As the group of new first years made their way into the Great Hall Clifton's eyes snapped to the professors table first, quickly searching out his cousin. Matt was easy to spott, to his relief, and he waved quickly, with a bright grin. He didn't remember which table April had said she would be sitting at, but after looking over the tables he quickly, spotted her, giving her a big wave too. There. Everything was going to be alright, no problem. He wasn't alone here, whatever else happened.

Heartened by the sight of his family, Clifton tried to listen to the Headmistress's speech, but only half took it in, nudging the person next to him at random when a comment popped into his head as she spoke about the off limits forest. "Spot on name, eh?" He commented, a bit louder than he intended. "Where's the Completely Welcoming Forest?" Not noticing any irritated looks at his interruption, Clifton listened to the rest of the speech, then waited for his name to be called, growing less and less patient as the time went by. As they worked down the alphabet, he nudged another person still waiting in the dwindling group. "Couldn't have done it by first name, could they?" The names just seemed to go on and on forever and Clifton eventually tuned it out, making faces at April to pass the time until finally, finally he was called. Looking over at the Headmistress, Clifton grinned in excitement and hurried over, stumbling over his own feet in his rush. As the hat sank down over his eyes, he chuckled. "Blimey, do kids over here all have enormous heads or what?"

"You're intelligent, no doubt, and would do well in Ravenclaw. But, oh, I see it now. It's your adaptability that will lead to your success. You belong in...Hufflepuff!"

When Sophie entered the Great Hall her eyes widened at the large ceiling above her that was bewitched to look like the night sky. It was then that she realised just how much she underestimated the power of magic. It would be weird not being able to use technology at Hogwarts as it was something that Sophie had grown up with and learnt to love, but she was excited to be introduced to magic and the magical creatures that lived in the wizarding world nonetheless. It would be a new experience and Sophie was ready to take it on. She didn't know much about the school but figured the whole sorting ceremony wouldn't matter that much in the long run. Everyone would still attend the same classes and eat all of the same food and so, despite the fact Sophie was nervous and could feel her heart beating strongly against her chest as she followed the other people in her year to the front of the hall, she was also feeling slightly comfortable about it at the same time.

The Headmaster looked strict and Sophie wondered whether or not that was a good thing as she began addressing all of the first years. As the names started being called Sophie watched them all walk up one by one to get the sorting hat placed on their head and then they would walk to their new house table. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin were the four different houses and Sophie wondered which one she would be sorted into. She didn't know anything about any of them but wouldn't mind being sorted into Slytherin as that was where her eldest cousin was placed, and considering the fact she had done well at school, Sophie's confidence would rise slightly. It didn't take long before Sophie's own name was called. Balling her shaking hands into fists, Sophie slowly made her way up the stairs and to the tiny wooden stool. She sat down, trying not to take too much notice of all of the eyes staring at her during that moment. She wanted it to be over with soon and flinched slightly as the sorting hat was placed on her head. I hope they clean this hat she thought absentmindedly, hoping that the sorting hat would know exactly the right place to put her.

"Ravenclaw!"

Lauren was too excited for this day. She had been looking at her calender everyday to see when it was finally the time. And now it was here! The blonde had packed all her things and she had been kind to her parents this morning to not leave with a bad feeling. But her father didn't even give her a hug or anything. He just said do you best in classes and don't dissapoint me and that was all. Lauren sighted and before she was gonna say something about it she looked to her mothers strict look. The blonde turned around and stepped into the train. It felt a bit to be free, and she didn't really cared what her father wanted from her. Gabriella did and why wasn't that enough? Lauren noticed that her sister Gabriella was already gone. She would run off to others she figured. Her father didn't want her to make friends, because they would distract her but Lauren thought differently. And she had a feeling that Gabriella couldn't resist either. And she wasn't gonna tell her dad ofcourse. Because when she did he would become really mad at both of them. The blonde looked through the window of the train and tried to forget home. This was gonna be her new home and it would be the best!

When they arrived at the school Lauren was one of the first to see the castle. A bright smile appeared on her face as she noticed the castle. It was so big and it seemed like it was full of secrets. Lauren always had a thing for secrets and she loved to search them and find out things. She hoped she wasn't the only one. There must be other parents that didn't pushed their children so hard right? Sometimes Lauren wondered if she wasn't born in the wrong family, it seemed like it was. Gabriella had told her about Hogwarts and the classes, but Lauren wasn't such interested in classes but more in people and the castle. And she couldn't wait to learn to fly and play Quidditch herself. Lauren smiled to several students that were walking along to the Great Hall. And when they entered Lauren almost jumped into the air from excitement. This place was amazing! ''This is the coolest place I've ever seen right!?'' She said to a student next to her. When they were all getting called to come to the front to be sorted Lauren looked around her. She almost didn't noticed that it was her turn. But the second time she got called she walked fast and smiled to the person standing with the hat. When the hat got placed on her head she laughed for a moment and a bit too loud she noticed while looking at the others. This was a funny thing a hat that talked and it felt weird too. Lauren didn't thought about a house specific but she hoped there would be fun people in it. That wanted to explore along with her.

"Hufflepuff!"

Aonghas Fergusson was pretty eager to be sorted, with his less than satisfactory summer holiday in scotland, he’d come to New Zealand on a slightly negative note. His family being at the forefront of his mind. He had not expected to leave for New Zealand with his brother having been kicked out of the house and family. He’d barely seen the older boy in the lead up to the school semester, which had only been a few days but he felt nervous, and Aonghas didn’t usually feel nervous. The train ride in had put his mind somewhat at ease, especially because he had spent the time with his brother, and asked about the school which had put him a little at ease. He wanted to be sorted, and he wasn’t sure where. He thought it would be best to follow the family and not Rory. Slytherin would be a fine option for him, but he didn’t think following Rory would be the best idea, especially if that path might lead him to also being kicked out the family and Aonghas was more loyal to his family than he was to one specific person in it. He would admit that while he would try and encourage his brother to see the error of his ways, Aonghas wouldn’t mind if he became head of the family. He liked what his family did, was proud of what they had created and very willing to continue it. They worked for their status, well, not the blood aspect, but everything else. His brother was throwing away a lifetime of security, Aonghas was just hoping school would enhance his skills and provide a seven year fun before he settled into life.
Aonghas walked into the great hall with the rest of his class group, and as they walked through the hall took the time to spot his brother at the slytherin table and give the boy a wave. Aonghas hadn’t had a whole lot of time to meet anyone else, he hoped he wouldn’t be the only one like this. Though he knew that it wouldn’t take too much effort to make friends. He knew he’d have to make a little effort and remember to not press too much on how much more important blood was and how his lot in life would be set. He would need to be friendly and he didn’t want to get into any trouble or as little as possible. He didn’t want to be too much in his brother’s shadow. Aonghas knew he could’ve gone to Hogwarts Scotland, his father would’ve let him, but Aonghas had decided he wouldn’t want to. Spending time away from home, making friends and having fun could be done in New Zealand, in Scotland there would be a little more pressure on him. He wanted the distance to give him time to grow. He wanted to follow the family, he wanted to marry a pureblood girl and have his life set. He liked what his family did, wanted to work to make it better. Aonghas looked towards the front of the room as the headmistress got started and the hat sang his song. It was exactly like how he’d been brought up to know. He listened as the names began being called and he was thinking about which house he could be sorted into. For traditions sake in his family he was hopeful of Hufflepuff but he knew no matter what he’d be fine. He find friends and he’d manage. He hadn’t interacted with this many kids before but he was confident and bold, home proud but never boastful, determined but realistic.
"Fergusson, Aonghas"
His name was called out and Aonghas stepped forward, holding his head up high and stepping towards the stool. He held his head high, he was upholding the family name, no matter how little that might mean to most of the people in the hall, he had to represent his family and he would work hard at this school to be respected for more than just what his name tended to bring him. He was nervous but excited, eager but tentatively nervous about what house he might end up in. But his father had always taught him to trust in the hat, and so he’d listen to his father as he always did, and trust it. Aonghas watched the hat be placed upon his head as his gaze lingered on the hall in front of him. He greeted the hat politely and would just let it do it’s thing.

"Your values do align well with Slytherin, but I do see, yes, yes, your family have mostly been Hufflepuffs. Alright, if you're sure, I'll sort you into... Hufflepuff!"

Cyzarine Haden was SO excited to be going to hogwarts. She had done a good amount of reading on the houses and the school, since she had originally been expected to attend the Russian magical school. The change in country and place had also meant she’d be going to Hogwarts which she was now at. It was very different from the russian school from what she had gathered in her books. Her mother had prompted her to write a report on it too, one she had done before she gotten on the train and headed to school. But the houses though pretty high on her list of things she was excited by was only beaten by the prospect of the people she would meet at the school, including her father. She didn’t know a whole lot about him, she had his surname and she knew he taught charms which in a school like hogwarts was certainly going to be easy to find. She was excited to make friends, on top of the ones she’d already made before school. Cyzarine was just so looking forward to the prospect of a school that was fun and exciting, with houses and extracurriculars and not trees for brooms. The russian school when she’d originally been going there had been interesting to Cyzarine, it had been interesting but in her report for her mum she could admit that she had become far more excited at the prospect of the Hogwarts than she had ever been for the russian school.
Cyzarine enjoyed the long train ride as much as the next excited first year, but she had to admit, it was nice to be out of the train and walking into the great hall. Her excitement over sorting had grown but so had her restlessness, as it would with any long train journey. She found herself stood near a few people that she knew, only because it was natural to gravitate towards people that you knew even if she didn’t know them all that well, there would be time to get to know them better over the years, whether they ended up in the same house or not. She followed the class into the great hall and glanced around the hall. It wasn’t too much different from what she had read in the books, the books were in fact exceedingly accurate. She looked to the professor table and glanced between them, the only thing she knew for certain without huge signs saying who was who, was the fact that her father had to be male, and well, around his mother’s age which eliminated some of the people but not all of them. She decided that could wait. She needed to focus on being sorted and then she had a whole host of other things to do. Like tell her mother which house she’d gotten and explore the house, maybe read over the house specifics in her books. Cyzarine was first to focus upon the sorting ceremony itself. The first few important bits, the introduction, the hat’s amazing song, which she decided she’d find out more about later and then the names.
Cyzarine listened and cheered loudly for the people before her, but then her name was called, and she stepped forward with confidence and eagerness. Not even thinking about if she should look towards the professors to see if that garnered a reaction from any, instead she sat on the stool with a bright and eager expression, she was eager for the hat to make its decision. She was determined to have the best years of her life at this school. Cyzarine knew that Hogwarts would bring her good things, it seemed like a warm and inviting place and she’d make the most of it for sure.

"Gryffindor!"

Alice was curious if the castle was really that big as what Therese had told her. She believed Therese but she had to see it with her own eyes for sure. But Therese hadn't lied at all. When Alice noticed the castle in front of her she smiled bright. This was where she could spend the next seven years. It seemed a bit scary too, like a big haunted house or something. But Alice didn't believed in ghost or scary stories. But when she arrived at The Great Hall she almost jumped when she noticed a ghost. Ok mom, you were lying. Perhaps there really was a ghost in my wardrobe. Alice thought and smiled while thinking or her childhood. She sometimes even talked towards her wardrobe. But that was stupid now she thought. Now she was eleven and full of life and ready for Hogwarts and to make friends. Alice couldn't wait to see her sister as a keeper in the Quidditch games. She also knew Gabriel played as a chaser and Liam as beater. She didn't knew if she had the passion to play Quidditch once, but she would sure learn what her talents were, because she really had no idea.

When the brunette listened to the people getting called, she noticed her cousins name Lauren. Lauren didn't even said hello yet, but ofcourse she didn't. She had the most worst father ever. But he had no control over her here. Perhaps they could reach out here and start to build up their friendship. She knew Lauren wasn't completly like her dad. Gabriella would just pretend that they were not there. But Lauren seemed different. Alice waved shortly at her cousin and hoped she would wave back. She was wondering where they would end up. It would be fun to be with one of her cousins, and that would sure happen since Beaubelle was in Ravenclaw. Her sister Therese in Hufflepuff, both Sofia and Gabriel in Gryffindor and Gabriella and Liam in Slytherin. But Alice didn't prefered Slytherin that much. It was just from what she had read. But perhaps it wasn't that bad. Alice could be lost in her thoughts for a bit longer, but she heard her name getting called. So she quickly walked towards the sorting hat and the professor and smiled. This was the moment she was waiting for and now she would know where she would end up. Alice had seen Therese on her way to the front and searched for her sister and was glad to see her smiling. She would not mind where Alice would be placed for sure.

"Hufflepuff!"

There was absolutely zero pressure, except there was all of it. Christian envied his cousin James as he had been the first bearing the Cade name (that he knew of) to set foot in Hogwarts New Zealand, there were no expectations on him and as a result he had been able to be his best self and be the awesome student he'd been. Quidditch captain, prefect, brotherhood president. That was what Christian had to live up to, that was what being a Cade meant. If the teachers weren't looking to James as an example of what a Cade could do at HNZ, his family certainly were. Christian had sought some advice from his now famous Quidditch player of a cousin before embarking on his school adventure and it had been simply to be himself, and to find himself a Maddie. Which didn't help, at all and if anything heaped more pressure on the eleven year old.

Despite all this running through his mind it wasn't nerves that Christian felt as he departed the train and made his approach to the school. It was a mix of excitement and something else, but he wouldn't describe himself as nervous. The young Cade waited outside the doors to the entrance hall and once they opened his he made his way inside to where a hat stood waiting. Christian had never put much thought into what house he would be sorted into. He had spent most of his young years enjoying himself and spending time with his friends. He hadn't really thought about Hogwarts until it was time to go. While others around him nervously waited to see where they would go, Christian was calm. He'd be happy wherever, he just wanted to belong.

"Cade, Christian,"

"You're easy to sort. Better be...Gryffindor!"

Mordred Cavanaugh was having a hard time containing all the emotions in his mind and body. He was nervous and ecstatic. These were the most intense emotions he was feeling at the moment. He did not know which house that he wanted to be in. Part of him wanted to be in Ravenclaw like his father, and another part of him wanted to be in Slytherin like his mother. Mordred's relationship with his parents was strained. He was born from an affair his father had with his wife, which was something that was completely out of his control. The house he was going to be placed in was also out of his control, but he didn't mind the sorting one that much. However, he was wondering about his sisters, Kaye and Karli. He wondered if they were feeling the same way he was. Even though he was worried about them, he'd never be brave enough to admit it out loud. Their family was messed up, and that was just something that he was going to have to deal with. But, Mordred wanted to be able to change his relationship with his sisters, not only because he loved them, but also because it was the right thing to do.

The boy heard his name called, and he walked up to the stool and took a seat. He took in a deep breath and slowly let it out as the hat was placed on his head. He tried to push all the worries about what house he would be in to make it easier for the Hat. But, he could not stop thinking about making amends with his sisters and actually forming a healthy, familial relationship with them. He could not stop thinking about his mother, who despised his very existence. He wanted a family, if he was being honest with himself, and Hogwarts New Zealand was going to help him find that.

" You have a true desire to better and prove yourself to everyone. There's no better house to help you do that than...Slytherin!"

Lily supposed she should be excited to finally see the castle her mother had spoken so much of- but she was caught up in the book she was reading. She knew she would have seven years to learn the castle. Lily glanced up occasionally, checking to see where on the list of names they were. She almost missed her name when it was called. Clutching the book to her chest tightly, she walked up to the hat, a soft blush on her cheeks.

Lily sat down, feeling a little more reassured when the hat slid over her eyes. She liked the darkness. She waited patiently for the hat to decide where her new home would be. She knew it would choose well.

"You are truly a...Hufflepuff!"

Nova hadn't been sure what to think of everything when she had gotten her acceptance letter. She had known it was coming, but when it did it had still left her speechless. She had been afraid to leave her mother behind, but she had also felt excited to get out of the slur she had been stuck in for as long as she could remember. Saying goodbye to her mom had been hard, but with every second she had gotten closer to the school, she had grown more excited, yet also more nervous. The eleven year old felt like she was going into this completely unprepared. Her mother had never told her anything about her time at Hogwarts, or what it meant to be a witch in general, which left the girl with the bare minimum of knowledge about the school and what to expect from any of it.
As they entered the castle Nova was completely taken aback by how enormous it was. This was certainly a long way from her life back at home. Still astounded, the girl made her way into the Great Hall with the other first years, hanging a bit at the back of the group so she would be able to keep a low profile whilst observing the other kids that were about to start their first year at the school. Even though she felt like the hats song went on a bit too long, she was grateful that it at least gave her some usefull information. Once sorting started and Nova realized that it would be done alphabetically she could feel her nerves starting to grow once again. Not long after the ceremony started they had reached the 'B' and the girl carefully started to make her way forward through the group of first years, as she knew her name could be called any second now. She was only halfway when that happened, so she quickly made her way to the front and sat down on the stool. When she felt the hat being placed on her head the eleven year old tried to control her nerves and not let them get the better of ther, as she waited for the hat to call out its decision.

Ravenclaw!

Luna entered the hall with the rest of the first years, a slight frown gracing her features as she tried to distance herself a bit from her peers. While she understand, she was too tired to share the same excitement as the rest of the group. Nevertheless, she still scanned the area for familiar faces. It would be great to catch up with her friends before the classes start, but she didn't think that this was the proper venue for it. Besides, she rather just spend the rest of the day in her room to rest. Looking for her friends and familiazing herself with the castle can be done once she had been well rested.

Thee eleven years old turned her attention to the front when the headmaster gave her speech, listening carefully to her words. She had no plans of breaking the rules during her stay at the castle, she didn't want to disappoint her father. Besides, she rather graduate on time than be expelled. Although she was not too happy with being separated from her family for too long, she didn't want to waste this chance too. As much as she didn't want to admit it, she needed this.

Soon, the sorting began. Her father had told her stories about his stay at the school. She never understood why her father loved the school so much, but she hoped that she'd learn to feel the same. With her surname starting with "B", it didn't take long before her name was called. With confident, measured steps, she walked up to the stool and took a seat. She waited for the hat to be placed on her head, careful not to let any sign of nervousness be shown on her face. "I hope this is worth it." She thought, already preparing herself for the year ahead.

"Hogwarts New Zealand is one of the first wizarding academies, so it will surely be worth it. And so will this because I know just where you'll do best. And that's in...SLYTHERIN!"

Elouise nervously straighten up her hairband as everyone lined up to get ready to be sorted. The girl wasn't nervous about meeting new people or getting stared at by a bunch of people. She's nervous because she has to prove herself now to everyone, that she's not just a girl who grew up in a comfortable way. Her brother told her as he sat with her in the train before it went was 'Just enjoy everything and don't think of whatever would think of her'. Elouise wanted to follow what her brother said but it seems their parents are still on her mind.

When everyone was called upon to enter the vast dining hall, the first year students walked in pairs. Elouise was busy with her hair and what people might think of her. Her clothes was newly bought, her hair well maintained and yet, she thinks there was still missing. The group stop in front of a gorgeous woman who she thinks was the Headmistress and greeted them with welcome. Explaining the do's and dont's of living in the castle. It was then that legendary hat took over and sang a song everyone thinks was horrible.

The girl looked around and none was amused by it. At last, after the singing went down, the sorting began. It was her brother who told her how it worked from the original school. It takes upon your inner desire and personality. Elouise thought of it carefully, she wanted to be in the same house as his brother back in Scotland. She wanted to make him proud but then she's not as courageous and adventurous as her brother. He's an auror in training now and soon he'll be a full pledge auror. "Hastings, Elouise." called upon the Headmistress.

The British Vietnamese wasn't aware that it was her time to shine. She hurried up to the stool and sat there as the Headmistress placed the sorting hat upon her head. She waited until it started to move and it frieghtened her that it will put her somewhere she doesn't belong.

"Ravenclaw!"

Everything was much bigger than it seemed from the descriptions her family members had said when she entered the Great Hall. The candles floating above the tables and glancing around she found the banners hanging above the Hufflepuff today. Glancing through the faces as she moved forward with the rest of the first years she spotted Maggy for a moment before her sister’s face was blocked from view. November, taller as a seventh year, was much easier to see. Receiving a comforting smile from her cousin she looked forward towards the place she was moving and saw her mother at the table. The person with her mother’s face did not look the same the mother she knew at home. Her hair was pinned much more neatly and a lighter smile, not as real as on her face. Until they met eyes Everly felt nervous but catching her mom’s eyes she received one of her mother’s classic smiles and felt much relaxed. A number of students were in front of her and she waited patiently as different names were called and each was sent to various houses.

“Harrington, Everly.”

It was her time, it was finally here. She glanced up at the Professor calling their names to her mom and then back again before moving. Would everyone know that Professor Harrington was her mother? Was that a bad thing? Surely not that many students had parents that worked at the school. Most wouldn’t have to deal with their parents for extended periods of time. But she loved her mother, though Maggy was her best friend her mom was a close second. She walked to the front and up the steps turning so she could sit on the chair. She sat on the stool and closed her eyes waiting to hear the Sorting Hat as her sister said it would tell her the house she was going to be put into.

"Gryffindor!"

Audra hadn't said a word to any of the other students standing with her. She had sat on the train with her brother Gracen and hadn't even see the other first years until she had been separated from her brother. She then had moved silently along with the group. A Professor herding them together and she suddenly felt like an animal being sent to her death with all the other animals again. Of course, having a tons people staring her while wearing the most ugly hat in the world she'd rather be anywhere rather than there on the stool. Moving along with the others students they entered in the Great Hall. It was large just as her siblings had told her.

A bunch of names were called and it seemed like the hat nearly killed their ears when it yelled out the house they were sorted into. She glanced around the room, Fleur and Gracen were sitting at the Slytherin table, not together of course. Gracen seemed to be with students in his year and Fleur was sitting near the end of the bunch where a bunch of empty seats were waiting for the new students. She was a prefect, so she'd be in charge of helping the new first years. Audra was sure that Fleur hated helping others, but it must be different when the people aren't family. Her name was called and it brought her attention back to the front of the Great Hall. Her eyes grazed and she spotted her oldest brother Hudson sitting at attention under the Ravenclaw banners. She wasn't sure where she belonged, she hadn't even paid much attention when they were describing the houses to them. With two already in Slytherin and Hudson in Ravenclaw she wasn't sure where she'd want to be. Probably with Gracen but she waited for the hat to decide. The hat slid down her face and covered her eyes, being so large and she waited glad she couldn't see the crowd all staring at her waiting as well.

"Slytherin!"
