Vivid stars twinkled through white wisps of cloud overhead of those entering the Great Hall, shining brightly against the velvet darkness of space that blanketed the entirety of it's ceiling, dominated by a single pale moon that bathed the room's entrants in a silvery light. The hall itself was further illuminated by flickering candle flames that appeared to sway and float in mid-air as if held aloft by invisible threads, bathing the building's lengthy tables adorned with shining dishes in a warm glow. Katherine herself stood positioned behind a podium at the forefront of the hall, greeting the youths who entered with a silent nod and a small smile. A sea of faces both new and old, from those here for their first year, to those here for their last.

"Welcome," Katherine began, her eyes sweeping over the sea of faces already gathered at the house tables, and those waiting to join them. "To those of you returning for another year, and to those of you joining us for the first time today. This day marks the start of your journey as young witches and wizards in the magical world. The castle and its surrounding grounds will be your home for the next seven years - a place for you all to live, to learn, and to grow. That being said, I must remind the older students, and caution those of you who are new, that the Forbidden Forest is strictly off limits to students unless supervised by a professor or member of staff. It may look enticing to some of you, but many dangers lurk within the forest. It is restricted for your safety, and any rule breakers will be punished accordingly."

The woman let her warning linger for a moment, eyeing those in particular who appeared more than willing to break that rule, before continuing on. "Now, let's begin. Each of you will be sorted into a house, which you will remain in for the duration of your time here. These houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, named after each of the original founding members of this prestigious school." As she spoke each name, banners rolled up against the farthest wall suddenly unfurled, depicting the colours and crests of each individual house, matching the silk cloths adorning each table. "First Years, as I call your name, step forward and seat yourselves here." Katherine gestured toward the short stool at the front of the hall, situated in perfect view of everyone present. "Once seated, I will place the Sorting Hat upon your heads, after which your future house will be decided and you are to move on to your table and join your new housemates. This decision is final, and houses cannot be changed once the Sorting Hat has made its decision. Now, let us begin." Ending it on that note, the woman unraveled the roll of parchment in front of her and called up the first name.

As stated in the [member]Information about Sorting[member] thread, you must fill out the sorting form entirely properly and fill in an RP as exemplified in the post. If your RP does not leave room for the sorting hat to sort you: you will not be sorted. If the sorting hat does not receive your sorting form: you will not be sorted. Follow instructions and: you will be sorted.

You can edit your post once you are sorted, but be sure that you only reply to this topic once and it is through the sorting form provided. Thank you.

The time has come now once again,
To greet you all in song.
New year, new friends, and all new faces,
In amongst the throng.

But who am I? The Sorting Hat!
I'm here to sort you all.
I'll tell you soon where you should go,
Be you great or small.

The bravest of you might become
Old Gryffindor's new pride.
Your bold, courageous housemates
Will always have your side.

Or Ravenclaw might better suit
Those clever of the mind.
Your wisdom will grow far here
if you're scholarly inclined.

In Hufflepuff the fair and true
Will find their closest friends.
A house made strong by working hard
To achieve their ends.

In Slytherin a cunning heart
Will see your goals succeed.
Your ambitions will be fostered
All subtle in your deed.

So try me on! I never bite
And hardly ever dither.
Your house awaits, as does the feast
So call the students hither!

Diana hadn't been that excited about arriving at the castle, not like some of the other kids she saw gawking like idiots. Of course, she was a little bit impressed, but she didn't show it. It was a lot like how Rose and Phoebe had described it to be. She followed the group of first years into the Great Hall, her eyes widening a fraction at the sight of it. She looked at the four tables, locating both of her sisters at different ones but quickly looking away. She didn't want Rose to start waving, or do something else embarrassing. It had been hard enough to avoid her overly eager sister on the train here.

She watched and waited as other students were called, and a little jolt went through her when it was her own name that echoed through the hall. She suddenly felt a burst of nerves, something she had been ignoring all day. But she tried not to show it as she made her way to the stool and sat down. She wasn't the biggest fan of the hat being placed on her head, as it looked smelly and old. She hoped this would be over soon, and also hoped she would be in a different house than both of her sisters. It would be easier to distinguish herself from them if she was.

The whole way to school, Acacia hadn't been able to help comparing everything she saw to what her brother had described of Ilvermorny. She had spent so long thinking about everything Cedar had told her, waiting for the day when it was her turn, but... here she was, on the wrong side of the entire world. No mountaintop school but a creepy forest instead. Travelling from a brilliant summer to a dismal winter. It was hard to stay positive when everything felt so strange and unfamiliar, and so unlike everything she had been looking forward to for the last five years.

Staying with the group of her soon-to-be classmates, despite all her disappointment Acacia couldn't help but be enchanted as they entered the Great Hall, and her eyes fell upon the beautiful ceiling. She stared up at the stars above, imagining what it would be like to eat in such a beautiful room every day. And there they were, the tables, and just like her parents had promised, they were separated into four houses. They weren't the same ones Cedar had told her about, but it was at least some small comfort. And surely the sorting ceremony would be just as exciting and dramatic as he had described.

Acacia watched with excitement as the first of her classmates was called to be sorted, wondering what would decide their fate in a place like this. Surely that tatty hat was going to make something thrilling happen. But instead after a pause it just announced the name of one of the houses, and the student went and sat at that table. Was that it? Cedar had talked about how exciting it was to watch an enormous statue move to announce that it wanted him as a student. This felt... anticlimactic. But before she had time to ponder it more, Acacia realised that the list of students had already reached the D-s.

"Dunn, Acacia!"

Steeling herself, Acacia held her head high and shoulders back as she made her way to the stool, very aware that the eyes of the whole school were on her. Acacia tried to smile to hide her nerves and worries, but it didn't come out quite as broad or strong as she intended. As the hat was placed on her head she closed her eyes and waited, hoping that at the very least her house colours wouldn't clash with her wardrobe.

Isla had been staring up at the roof, half in amazement of the stars in the night sky, and half using it as an excuse to not look at how many males there were in the large hall. Halting to a stop near the back of the first years who were looking eagerly around, she immediately lowered her head to look at the ground where her feet became suddenly extremely interesting. After hearing the funny hat sing to the echoing hall, Isla's eyes widened in fear when she heard her name be called out first to the hall. Keeping her head down, she made small steps up to the wooden stool to which she sat carefully on, already wishing all the eyes in the hall weren't fixated on her tiny body. She felt like they could all see through her robes to view her array of bruises and cuts that marveled over the black eye she wore at the time. Her palms sweating like crazy, Isla held her breath as she felt the weathered leather hat slip onto her head and over her dim blue eyes.

When Kengi Smile finally entered the Great Hall, he felt like he was going to pee his pants. However, if he had done that, his father surely would be disappointed. The boy was not nervous about being sorted, he was just very jittery. The decision was what was making him nervous, not the act of being noticed. The boy was not looking for acceptance because if he didn't accept himself, he would not able to truly accept the validation others gave him, which Kengi definitely did not need. He was the oldest, so he held common responsibilities on his shoulders, like cleaning, walking his sister to school, and making things easier for his father. Kennedy did not think that Kengi noticed how deep he fell after their mother's death, but he noticed and was always willing to make the necessary sacrifices in order to make life at home flow like a strong stream.

"Smile, Kengi."

Kengi heard his name called and he went up to the stool and took a seat. He sat up straight and made sure to not twiddle his fingers. He did not know what to do to make things easier for the Sorting Hat, so he just sat there and waited patiently as the Hat was placed on his head. It covered his eyes so that he was not able to see all the eyes that were staring at him...or the Hat. So, the boy was grateful for that.

Gwen was glad to finally be walking into the school she had long heard her brother talk about. It had always annoyed her having to listen to Hayden drone on for four years before she finally got to experience it herself. Though she was not all too impressed with the people she had met so far Gwen had high hopes for the next seven years, even if she had to do it all alone though that was far from the ideal scenario. Once the first years had been escorted from the station to the entrance to the Great hall Gwen could see some of the nervous faces of the people around her. She simply just shrugged her shoulders and waited for the Profesor to open the doors and lead them in.

Ignoring the eyes on her Gwen made her way down the aisle between the tables to where the sorting hat stood waiting. Gwen had never put much thought into what house she was in. To her, it didn't make much difference as she knew she would be the best wherever she ended up. As long as the name Lavish made people think of her and not Hayden, she would be content. One by one students went up to the stool and once it got to the L's it was her turn.

"Lavish, Guinevere"

Gwen looked around at the few students left before she made her way up to the stool and had the hat lowered onto her head.

The last three weeks had led up to this. Well, for Dittany, preparations had begun years and years ago, when she'd first discovered she would one day be attending Hogwarts New Zealand. No news had ever come so gladly to the young girl, who, while fond of her family, generally preferred to be left alone. Who could blame her? The only life she'd ever known was that of turbulence and upheaval; always packing a bag for America, or Australia, or Norway, or wherever else her father was participating in one of his stupid tournaments. All right, they weren't stupid. They paid the bills, kept a roof over Dittany and her siblings' heads. But all Dittany had ever wanted was somewhere to call home, and against all odds, she'd finally been presented with one.

So whilst the last three weeks had been hectic, Dittany had been long prepared for this moment - years and years before the pre-term rush. And now she was here. She swallowed down the lump in her throat as the enormous doors of the great hall swung open, revealing a veritable sea of students. Every head was turned their way as the unsorted children made their way up to the head of the hall, their plain robes threshing at their ankles, their minds racing in a desperate effort to keep up with the ambush of new sights, sounds, and smells. This place was truly extraordinary.

Dittany was among the first few names to be called; she threw her peers a hesitant glance, and then emerged from the crowd to take her place upon the sorting stool. Though she might have been meant to, she didn't mind too much where she went; the chance to escape her siblings for a little while might even have been welcomed. Still, at that moment, as the hat was placed on her head, an intense wave of anxiety overcame her. She looked out across the Gryffindor table, searching for her friend's familiar face, hoping the sight of him might quell her nerves. Failing to find him, she closed her eyes, taking care not to hold her breath. Really, she just wanted to get this over with.

The butterflies in Dominique's stomach reminded her of standing in the wings before opening a play. No idea what the audience would be like, no idea how the show was going to go, just herself and her cast and her memory. Except today was different. Today there were no lines to remember, no castmates to rely on, and the audience weren't proud parents but older students, here to watch and judge the new arrivals to the school. As the doors opened to welcome them into the Great Hall Domi took a deep breath in and let it out slowly before beginning to walk, calming her nerves.

Looking around the room, Dominique couldn't hold back a gasp of awe. The layout of the room felt like the grandest theatre she had ever seen, and the ceiling above was beyond words. She could definitely get used to spending the next seven years in such a beautiful place. And so many people! She had thought the group she was clustered with was huge, but the amount of people in this room... she could make a new friend every day for seven years, and never know every person in this castle! There was so much to do!

Dominique listened politely to the Headmistress's speech, and watched as her classmates began being called up to take their place. One after another, sitting in that chair. So dull! Dominique realised that for the older students rather than an exciting event, watching sorting each year must be a chore. Boring! Domi was never one to waste an opportunity, and when she heard her own name Domi knew she had to change things up a little.

"Malone, Dominique!"

Stepping out from the remaining group of unsorted students, Dominique struck a pose and smiled brightly for a quick moment, before walking confidently over to the stool. Striking another showy pose as she took her seat, Domi felt the hat settle on her head and waited patiently for its verdict.

Daenerys could feel her heart pounding with both excitement and nervousness as she awaited her turn to be sorted at Hogwarts. As she watched the other students recieve their houses, she idly thought about which one she would want. "To be honest, I guess I would like any of them, seeing as I don't know what they are actually like," she finally concluded silently. A few seconds later, she had a second thought. "Although I might like it if I wasn't in Slytherin, since my cousin Sayoria is already there and I might not want to see her so much during the next seven years." With these thoughts in her head, she took a deep breath when her name was called, sat down on the stool, and waited for the hat to be placed on her head.

It was time. It was time. Arielle was getting sorted! And what was best, was that her sisters were also being sorted this year with her. Arielle couldn't be more excited. She talked to them excitedly in French on the way to Hogwarts, on the train, and she didn't stop nor did the smile fade when they were led, along with many other students of their year, into a big room. Wow, this place was huge. It was incredible, nothing the eleven year old could have imagined. Of course they were in a castle so it was in the end very understandable, but she doubted that the descriptions she'd heard in her young life would match actually experiencing being in the place. There hadn't been anything Arielle had seen that disappointed her here, at least, not yet.

Arielle listened intently to the member of staff in front, it was rude not to pay attention and besides, the French brunette loved to know what was going on - especially seeing as the new bunch of first years had so many new things to learn. There were a lot of places Arielle knew she'd explore with her sisters later, but for now, she wanted to know what her fate would be. The sorting hat finished its song soon afterwards and Arielle had to wait as her surname started with an M, therefore it was in the middle of the alphabet, more or less. She sighed in content when her name was called, after her sister Amelie had gone to sit at her own house table. If there was anything she understood clearly, since she didn't speak English as well as some of these students, it was when her name was being called to go sit in the front. Arielle tried not to fiddle too much as she took a seat on the stool and watched the sea of students before her. Then she waited.

As much as Cayleigh wanted to go to the same school as her older brother, Keon Baros, her parents relocating to New Zealand on a more permanent basis required her to go to Hogwarts New Zealand instead. The houses were the same as the one in Scotland, and her mom and older sister was a Hufflepuff while her dad and older brother were Slytherins. Nalani and Keon were both gifted to go to Ilvermorny but at least she was with her twin, Coleman. She would never want to leave his side, but then again the two of them were as different as day and night. Cayleigh loved to play and be outdoors, much like her father. She wanted to play Quidditch one day and maybe take over his old team in the future. She was not too sure. But her future would be decided really soon since her surname started with a B.

"Cayleigh Baros!" Cayleigh shot a look toward her brother, as per always, she would be first. She was first coming out of their mother, and she was first to be sorted. She also walked and talked first as well. Everything about Cayleigh came sooner than Coleman and in a way she was proud of that. She bounced up to the front, and sat down on the stool. She felt the hat settle on the top of her head. Yes, this was her moment. Her moment alone. She would not have to wonder what it was like with her brother sorted before her. Her thoughts lingered on how her brother must have felt, before smiling and waiting for her verdict.

Emilia's eyes were wide as she took in all the sights around her. This was amazing! The castle was so beautiful, so big, so grand! It was like something from a story, but she was really here! The train journey had been fun, as she had met some nice people, but now it was really time to start at Hogwarts, something she had been dreaming of for years.

Her father had been in Gryffindor and favorite cousin Evelyn had as well, but she didn't know if that would be her house too. She wasn't very brave, she thought. She felt very nervous now, not brave in the slightest. She trailed a little at the end of the group, hoping not to stand out too much. The Great Hall was the most beautiful place she had ever seen, and her mouth dropped open as she took it all in. Then she spotted Evelyn at the Gryffindor table and waved at her, before scanning the crowd for Espen and waving at him too. The hat started calling the names of other first years, and she knew she would have to wait. She didn't mind, it seemed terrifying to be in the center of attention like that. But the names went by pretty quickly, and soon enough it was her name that was called. She froze on the spot for a moment before slowly making her way to the stool. She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the hat to be placed on her head and decide her fate. She hoped this would go by fast, as she hated the feeling of everyone's eyes on her.

Jumin was actually rather surprised that he was now standing in Hogwarts. Not because he had thought that he wasn't magical and was a squib or something, that thought had never crossed his mind even for a moment. He couldn't imagine spending the rest of his life at home with his Muggle mother and never getting to learn magic. No, he was more surprised that his parents had actually managed to work out where they wanted to send him in time for the new school year to start. It had been a bit of a close call in the end, but here he was in the halls of Hogwarts and he was just going to have to see how this went for him.

Staring long and hard at the sorting hat, Jumin scrunched his nose up, shoving his hands nonchalantly into the pockets of his new school robes. "Sorted by some old hat, what a joke," he just scoffed, dark eyes watching the kids called before him step up and get sorted into their respective houses. And honestly it was incredibly boring to watch, Jumin just wanted to eat and go to bed already, he was fighting back yawns as it was and he could feel his eyelids start to droop a little.

"Lee, Jumin!" The Professor eventually called and Jumin sighed a little. About time.

Shouldering his way through the thinning crowd of other first years, the boy wandered up towards the stool, giving the sorting hat one last hard stare before he sat himself down and the cloth was lowered over his eyes. "Do you mind not spending forever deliberating or whatever the hell you do? You kind of smell and I would like you off my head as soon as possible," it was not like he wanted to sit there forever with some awful hat on his head being watched by the whole school. "Also, don't you ever get a wash?"

The time had finally come for Jemma Potter to attend Hogwarts New Zealand. She had been looking forward to the day for years. It seemed like it was all Jake and Jemma talked about these days. The hall was as lovely as she had always imagined it to be. She squeezed Jacob's hand excitedly. He had been by her side the whole journey. Jemma hoped they wouldn't be separated by houses because he was her very best friend. She needed him. Jemma spotted Link and Lyra watching her from the Gryffindor house table. The small girl stuck her tongue out playfully at her older siblings. Jemma hoped that she would be sitting with them soon. She saw Noah at the Slytherin table and winked at him. It was nice to have family around. Leaving her mother and Carter had not been as easy as she thought it was going to be. Her thoughts were interrupted as she heard a voice call, "Potter, Jemma". The small girl squeezed Jake's hand one more time before walking through the crowd of first years to sit on the stool. Please be Gryffindor. she thought silently as she tried- and failed- to sit patiently on the uncomfortable chair

As much as Coleman Baros wanted to be first to be sorted, just to stick it with his sister, he had to suck it up and pretend that it did not bother him. This was his first school of choice considering that he wanted to go to a school away from his twin, so that he did not feel that he would have to compete with her, which she often turned everything into a competition. His other older siblings were not like that, and he wished that he could have had Keon’s advice on how to handle this. He was sorted into Thunderbird, and the rest were Pukwedgie, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. But, what would he be? Coleman just prayed that he would be in another house than his sister. He knew that she would want to be with him, only because she would be sorted into that house first. It was sad really. He watched as the hat sorted his sister. He knew he would be next.

"Coleman Baros!" Coleman swallowed what felt like a giant lump in his throat and his mouth felt like sand paper. This was just absolutely terrible, and what would have been a good experience would be if he did not have Cayleigh here with him. He walked up to the front of the crowd, and sat down on the stool. He felt the hat perch upon his hair, and imagined it digging through his family line, which wasn’t too much since majority went to the American school. He silently begged the hat to leave him and his sister separated, since he could not tolerate her attitude any more than the rest of the school.

Don't look them directly in the eyes. Arvel glanced to the right; nobody appeared to have noticed him trip. Good. Now, all he had to do was make it to the front of the hall without making a complete arse of himself. This sorting business was a lot more difficult than anybody had warned him; for one, he couldn't decide whether to walk at the front, in the middle, or at the back of the herd of students. At the front, he might draw to himself unnecessary attention; in the middle, he was liable to get trampled upon; at the back, he ran the risk of being left behind. Eventually he settled for being trampled. At least that way nobody could see him.

After what felt like eight million yards, the group finally came to a stop. Arvel, who couldn't see very well from his location, almost ploughed straight into the boy in front, and had to apologise for stepping on the heel of his shoe. Well, this was going swimmingly. While the headmistress gave her speech, Arvel fixed his gaze on his feet, trying not to think about how many people were going to watch them get sorted. He'd not eaten since breakfast, yet somehow he still felt as if he might throw up all over his shoes. Finally, his name was announced; the herd parted to allow him through, and with a nervous glance at the stool he made his way carefully up to the stage. Without so much as looking up at the crowd, he sat down on the stool, heart palpitating with the suspense. It was ridiculous, really, and he knew it. He was only being sorted, for goodness' sake, not performing a song. Squeezing his eyes and fists tightly closed, he awaited the hat's verdict.

Riley could hardly keep still. It had only been mere weeks since he'd discovered he had magical powers and had been thrown head first into a whirlwind of activity that involved shopping for magic supplies and exploring a whole different side of New Zealand he'd never known had existed. He bounced up and down on the tips of his toes, trying to catch sight of everything. The ceiling seemed to be animated as clouds fluttered across the stars. In the middle of the room, older students sat by tables loaded with trays of food. He hadn't eaten since the morning, and it took all of Riley's effort to resist joining them. The headmistress started to speak, but he ignored her and instead focused on the room itself.

It was only when Riley heard singing that he glanced at the front of the hall. To his shock, a hat was croaking out a tune. He watched in awe, trying to figure out if the thing was alive. Yes, it was singing, but did it have a brain? Organs? Could it die? Riley watched closely as one by one, first years were called up for the hat to analyze. Finally, it was his turn. He walked quickly to the stool and sat down, waiting for the hat to work its magic.

As she looked around the large hall at all the new students, Lunala wondered which would turn out to be friends, and which ones foes. She was eager to begin her path towards becoming a witch and hoped that along the way she would learn some new spells for controlling people, particularly her younger siblings. Rather restlessly, Lunala waited for her name to be called, not at all sure which house she should hope for.

Kinsey had been told of how this day would go by Tesla time and time again and yet the girl felt butterflies in her stomach from the moment the day had started all the way until now. She didn't truly know the meaning of the houses but the whispers of more knowledgable first years and her sister's stories told her that she knew she couldn't go into Slytherin. Plus green wasn't her colour. She could hope that she would make friends with whoever was in her house and those outside of it too but in the immediate she hoped that the sorting ceremony would get done faster. She wanted to know right away what house she would be in because nothing was quite so bad as waiting. If only her parents had given them their father's surname she wouldn't have to wait so long but after the long list she heard her name called - mispronounced as always.

"Wilde, Kinsey."

The girl trotted over to the hat and looked over the crowd of students as the sorting hat was placed on her head, although she was extremely suspicious that a hat wouldn't know a thing about her except her fashion sense and this hat was hardly in keeping with that. Still she stayed silent and gauged the audiences reaction to what was being said of her while she was uncharacteristically nervous.

Talitha Dawn Courage was tapping her foot as she waited for her turn on the Sorting Hat. She had grown impatient as she looked around the Great Hall. She had recented her parents, particularly her mother, for sending her here instead to Ilvermorny. One reason why she hated Hogwarts was because of her cousin who was a second year in this pathetic school. From what she gathered,Alexis Sage Kramer, was placed in Ravenclaw and if it would be possible, Talitha would move mountains so as not to be placed in the same house as her "perfect" cousin. Letting her blue eyes roam the massive hall, it was not long before they landed on her cousin who was happily chatting away with her Ravenclaw friends. Talitha even saw boys among the group which made it more interesting. Now, she was on a mission to break the facade Alexis was showing.

With her thoughts still on her cousin, Talitha almost did not notice that she was being called.

"Talitha Courage!"

The woman, who introduced herself as the headmistress, looked around as if searching for the face to match the name. This prompted the redhead to move to the wooden stool where the mangy, old hat was situated. With her head held high, Talitha perched herself on the stool before crossing her arms in front of her. Pushing Alexis toward the back of her mind, she was now focused in hoping this would be over and this stupid hat reach a decision on what stupid house she would be spending the next seven years of her life would be. Make it quick will you?, she demanded in her mind, And for Merlin's sake, not Ravenclaw! I don't want to see my cousin every waking day of my Hogwarts life. This would make this place less pathetic at the very least., she added, not caring if she was already rude to a century, maybe more, old hat.

"Ha! You think you have a chance at Ravenclaw? This is why students don't sort themselves. No, no, no, you're a Hufflepuff!"

From what Patrick had told Ana about Hogwarts New Zealand, Anastasie already had so much to look forward to. She knew most of what there was to know but also knew she had so much more to learn. However, she entered the Great Hall with her head held high, more than ready to take on whatever it had to offer. The girl looked straight ahead of her as she followed the group of first years up to the front of the Great Hall, the rest of the school's eyes on them all and wondered what house the sorting hat were to place her in. It sorted Patrick into Hufflepuff and Ana was unsure whether or not she really wanted to be sorted with him. She wasn't really sure why but Hufflepuff just didn't seem the best fit for her and she was sure the sorting hat had something else in mind.

As the first year's names started to be called out, Ana kept her head held high, watching as one by one the students walked up to the stool and the hat was placed on their head. The hat definitely looked older than what Ana had firstly anticipated and she wondered why Patrick didn't tell her this. Why would the professors place such dirty hats on the student's heads? For all they know, the hat could have lice and Ana shuddered at the thought of this as her name came closer. When it finally did come around, Ana confidently walked up to the stool and cringed slightly as the hat was placed on her head, hoping it would be over with soon.

Gwen was always happy to be trying new things and the thought of starting school in a foreign place was definitely one of them. The girl hadn't heard much about the school but surely it couldn't be much different to Hogwarts Scotland where her brother was going? The houses all seemed exactly the same and so Gwen thought it would be a good experiene. The girl stepped into the Great Hall with her yearmates and beamed at the floating candles above them. She was used to seeing magic at home but now it was all too real and Gwen smirked at the thought of what sort of things she could learn at such a good school.

It didn't take long before everyone's names started to be called out and Gwen stood there excitedly as she watched people take a seat on the stool and get sorted. It was definitely clever how a hat could easily sort you into a house based on your personality and Gwen was anticipating the moment that it was her turn. When it finally was, Gwen beamed and almost ran up to the stool on the stage, excited to get it over and done with. The hat's decision would determine where Gwen was placed for the next seven years and the thought of that made her excited but also slightly nervous. The girl smiled as it was placed on her head, knowing it knew just where to put her.

The Great Hall was just as her mother told her. Large, beautiful with the sky shining on the ceiling. Violeta could sit under the stars without the harmful effects of the chilly winds or the rain. This was definitely going to be an adventure for her. While Violeta did not know what she wanted to be when she grew up, she still wanted to impress her mom and make her proud. Her mom had a big position in the Ministry, and even judged people from time to time. Violeta hoped to accomplish even half of that. And this was where she would start. She became aware that she might meet with some family members here, but Violeta did not care. She didn't want to know her father's side. They never cared to know her, so why should she know about them? For all she knew, they could have abandoned her like her dad did. She only knew his name so that she could avoid him in the future if she managed to run across him. She hoped not. She didn't want to have anything to do with him, ever. But, hopefully she would begin her journey in Hogwarts with a fresh plate, ready to learn everything she could.

"Violeta Finch!" Violeta heard the blonde woman shout her name. Yes, she was next. The young Finch walked up to the stool, and sat down on it. Her blue eyes washed over the crowd. Since her name was in the first part of the alphabet, there were still plenty of students left over. The hat sat upon her head, and she felt like it was reading her mind. Right, it probably could. Violeta wondered where she would go, since her mom went to Durmstrang. She had cousins that were sorted here but could not remember what house for the life of her.

Going to a school like Hogwarts was very exciting for Addison, since her parents never went. Her aunt and uncle went to Hogwarts, and she saw that she was attending with her first cousins, which was exciting. But, she knew that she would not see any of her maternal's side here. That was sad, since she thought that would have been cool to see. Addie smiled as she entered the Great Hall, loving the scenery. Her blonde hair moved around her as she kept moving her head, and nearly bumping into someone in front of her while she was walking. After all, the Great Hall seemed to be full of bustling first years like her. Addie knew that she would be waiting a while, so she watched as name after name was called. She saw her cousins sorted, before clapping her hands since she was glad that they came here. And both looked to be really happy.

"Addison Thoreau!" Addie wanted to shout that was her, but bit her tongue since it was unnecessary. Addie skipped up to the front, and felt the hat perch on her, and she waited for her fate. All she cared about was being close to the kitchens where she could cook like her mom and dad. She wanted to open a restaurant one day, and did not know how magic would help her, but at least she could learn how to use spells to clean up the kitchen when she was done cooking.
