After months of dueling practices and spell lessons, Celia wanted to do something fun for today's Student Defense Association meeting. Her first idea had been to lock all the members in the chamber and tell them to duel to the death until one was left standing. However, she had a feeling the headmaster wouldn't be too pleased with that idea. Her second idea had been a dodgeball game but with Stunning Spells instead of balls. But then the Brotherhood had held a dodgeball game (what that had to do with fraternity, she had no idea), and Celia didn't want anyone to think she was copying them. So she'd finally settled on Capture the Flag. It was similar enough to her first idea, but with enough extra steps that nobody could accuse her of running her own battle royale.

Celia had owled all the members ahead of the meeting, telling them to meet her at the Great Lawn just before sunset for a game of Capture the Flag. She'd also included the rules and team assignments in her message. As she waited for people to arrive, she draped a large orange flag over a low-hanging branch on one tree and then did the same with a purple flag in another tree roughly 100 meters away. Behind some bushes off to the side, Celia hid a couple fun surprises she planned on unleashing in case the game needed more violence action. She didn't bother clearing the playing area of stray objects or flora. If any of the players were smart, they'd use their surroundings to their advantage.

As people started to arrive, Celia greeted them with a smile and directed them towards a bucket with glowing orange and purple wristbands. Once everyone was there, she cast a Sonorous charm. "Hey everyone. As you all know, we're playing Capture the Flag today. I've already set the flags out," she gestured to the flags hanging from the trees, "and those trees will serve as your 'base.' To win, you need to capture the other team's flag and return it to your own base. Your entire team must also be conscious to win, so if you see one of your teammates get petrified, help them."

Even though she'd included the rules in her owl, Celia figured she should go over them again, just so no one tried to maim a first year and claim ignorance. "A few reminders about the rules: You can use any spell you want unless you're aiming for another person. In that case, you're limited to first year spells. Except Stupefy. Don't use Stupefy." There weren't enough sixth and seventh years around to revive anyone who got hit with a Stunning Spell (and Celia certainly wasn't going to do it herself). "You can also cast spells on your own flag as long as it remains visible and stays in flag form. So no transfiguring it into a frog or shrinking it to the size of a postage stamp." The flags had also been cursed so that anyone who tried to cast a Summoning Charm on them would get a nasty shock (literally), but Celia decided not to mention that. She wanted to leave that as another fun surprise. "And no physical contact. This meeting is about being creative and working on your spellcasting." And providing her with some much needed entertainment. "I'll be refereeing and making sure no one breaks the rules." She paused for a moment to let all that sink in. "Now, head to your base. The game will start at my signal." After giving the group a minute to split into their teams and head over to their respective sides, Celia blew a whistle and used her wand to send some red sparks into the air.

Tempest hadn't been surprised to hear the SDA was doing something actually fun now that Celia was in charge. The clubs had been ridiculously boring last year for Tempest because no one was being creative, but this event would actually help her prepare for the duelling tournament next semester, something she desparately wanted to win. She needed some way to make a name for herself at the school, and that seemed like her best bet for now.

Having coming decked out in athletic wear and her hair in braids, Tempest found a spot with the group as Celia reexplained the rules, clarified a few things. It seemed easy enough, but she knew it couldn't be that easy. Tempest took stock of her team, not sure how she felt about it. June was on the other, and the other team had the only reigning duelling champions, which Tempest thought was unfair. But yet again, this was a chance to prove herself. She didn't know if there was really going to be any team tactics, but she didn't just want to waste away trying to protect their flag. She wanted to get the other one. As Celia gave them the go ahead, Tempest hid in the bushes near their flag, tossing out a trip jinx towards a student who had already made it close to their side, before sneaking along the edge of the playing field as others played in the center.

Audrey was very excited about the SDA event, more than any of the others. Sure, she didn't know too many spells yet, and she wasn't going to get to enter the duelling tournament this year. But this would be good practice, and a chance to watch the older students up close to pick up tips. As long as she didn't get caught. The other team had some tough competition, and unfortunately for her Teddy was on the other side and she was stuck on the same team as Toby, who was a whiny pompous little brat. But Oz was on the other side too, so she was more determined to win to get one over her cousin. She'd dressed in darker colours, but hung near the base for now. She wanted to get out there, but she wasn't stupid - she'd be better served trying to petrify or trip anyone who got close and carefully observe.

Conan was pretty excited when he heard what the SDA would be doing, wand already in hand and an eager grin planted on his face as he diligently listened to what the Head Girl was saying. This was going to be fun, no doubt about that. He was on Team Orange, though he didn't really know any of the other students on the team. But he supposed that didn't matter. "Do you think we should come up with a strategy or something?" He asked asked to the rest of the team as the game started.

Leah had never played capture the flag before but the rules seemed easy enough. She had been sad when Anisha was on the opposite team and she was stuck with Dorian instead. He was quite boring but Anisha was stuck with Savannah so she guessed they were even. She gripped her wand tightly as she waited for the last few instructions before they began. When the whistle blew, Leah didn't waste any time running towards the middle of the field and managed to dodge and block a few spells before throwing a few trip jinxes and the other team as they headed her way.

Oz was quietly furious that Audrey had signed up for the SDA as well. At least they were in different years and houses, and apparently different teams, but it meant he basically expected her to come after him on the field. He was older, though, even though he was smaller, and knew more magic. Even if he was only allowed to use first year spells. He looked around at his team as they were getting started, looking up at Conan, who he only vaguely knew from class, and nodding slowly. Their team had a lot of strong duellists, though he knew this was a different thing. "...uh, I can try and...scout?" he offered, cautiously. At least his height might actually be an advantage for staying out of people's way. "...'spose we could spread out a bit...?" This was pretty new to him, but he started moving towards the left, his gaze moving between his teammates and the open field.

This meeting sounded like quite a lot of fun to him, a grin on his face as he twiddled his wand around his fingers. They were absolutely going to crush the other team, no doubt about that. And it seemed as though he was on a team of others who didn't see the point in strategy. That was perfectly fine with him, Mish scanning the field before sending a quick trip jinx towards the closest person on the other team as he bolted forward.

Louis thought this meeting was incredibly fun and he couldn’t wait to get started. he was the oldest on his team, so he pretty much figured he was the leader. He knew he had to lead team purple to victory. He saw a few other students start to charge and resisted the urge to do the same. He needed to be smart. He glanced at the flag, wondering if there was anything he could do that would make it less easy to grab. Suddenly, he realized there was something he could do. It was a tricky spell, but it could help them out a lot. Instead of running over to the orange flag, Louis ran back to their own. He raised his wand, then cast a spell. “Incarcerous!” He yelled, pointing at the flag. Ropes flew out of his wand, wrapping around the flag and the branch it was draped over, attaching it to the branch. It wouldn’t be that hard to slice through them with a spell, but Louis was pretty sure Diffindo wasn’t taught until like the fourth year. It would at least give them an advantage. Louis grinned proudly, then looked around to see if anyone noticed his genius idea.

Tempest frowned when her trip jinx missed a student and instead watched as one of her teammates secured their flag to a branch, which she supposed may help, but it didn't help them get the other team's flag. She saw another Slytherin from her team head towards the flag and managed to catch up with him without getting hit by any spells. "Is there a plan? How could we distract them?" she asked the boy, knowing that there was still the matter of actually getting the flag down. @Mischa Falter-Butera

As the game started, Celia wondered if it would be overkill to conjure a lifeguard chair and a bowl of popcorn. (Of course, the popcorn wouldn't be real thanks to Gamp's Laws, but this was about the optics, not the snack itself.) She quite enjoyed being in charge. At the same time, Celia wished she could participate, even more so once she saw the amount of trip jinxes being cast. No way would she settle for such a boring spell. Only Louis did anything remotely interesting, and she was curious to see how the other team would respond.

In the meantime, though, Celia thought the game needed a little more action. No one was getting hit, and she was sure she could change that. She made her way to some bushes to the side and found the Quidditch chests she'd concealed with a disillusionment charm. With a tap of her wand, she removed the charm and released five bludgers. They were flying at a quarter of their normal speed, so they couldn't seriously injure anyone. But they were still heavy, and she doubted getting hit by them would be fun. Celia watched as the iron balls soared across the field, and she wondered how long it would take for the players to stop them. She just hoped the bludgers would be able to hit someone or at least ferret out some of the hiding players before that happened.

OOCOut of Character:
They are now five bludgers flying around at quarter speed. Feel free to godmod/interact with them!

Audrey was surprised when the cute seventh year tied up their flag, but she saw the benefit - it would make the opposition have to take longer to take it down while they could fight them off. Her eyes lit up when she saw the bludgers, though she remembered that the rules were no physical contact. But if she summoned her bat, which was...a distance away, but not so far that it was impossible, was that breaking the rules? But one was very slowly moving towards her, so she stood up, took a deep breath and cast "depulso!" sending it back towards the oncoming opposition. And then, for safety, she looked towards her bag over at the side and cast "accio beater's bat!", the gaudy glittered bat flying towards her slowly. Hopefully she wouldn't get hit by something on the way.

ooc if this is against the rules let me know and I can amend it!

When Celia had divided up the teams, she'd focused first on pitting people against their enemies and friends, and then on trying to keep the teams evenly matched in terms of age. She'd noticed that she'd put four beaters on one team but hadn't thought much of it. Maybe that would give them an advantage in dodging the bludgers once she released them, but avoiding a bludger while flying was very different from trying to avoid one while running.

And then Audrey summoned her bat.

For a moment, Celia could only gape at the girl — did she always carry that thing around with her? also, was that glitter? — but then she laughed. Celia glanced at the other beaters. If they had also brought their bats (or managed to conjure one), then things could get very violent, very quickly. She wasn't sure how she felt about someone using a bat to hit a bludger towards someone. On one hand, that did feel like a violation of the "no physical contact" rule. On the other hand, it would be endlessly amusing. (Was she a little biased as a beater herself? Perhaps.) Plus, the "no physical contact" rule had mostly been put in place to prevent players from tackling or physically assaulting each other.

Celia decided she didn't have to make a decision yet. Audrey's bat was still flying towards her, and there was a lot of time to see how things unfolded. Celia smiled as she surveyed the field. She might not be playing, but she was still having fun.

Ofcourse June would be present with an SDA event. Not only to show Celia that she was an motivated person and wanted to be the best. But she was curious how others did as well. Watch the competition in a way, she knew Tempest was part of the club as well so was glad she had her as well there. But she was not so happy about being outside, but Celia knew what was stupid or not she figured it would not somethingv to get dirty. As June stood with the group she gave Celia an smirk and listened as she told them they would play an game. June was not sure what to think of it yet, and figured her respect was gonna drop very hard. But as she explained further June was pleased. It was ofcourse that they had a lot of older students and they knew more spells, but June was not afraid. June figured she had to play things smart, but she was with an team ofcourse. When she heard the teams she didn't believed she knew a lot of persons and Tempest was in the other team. But some of her teammembers seemed to be good so that was fine. Conan she knew who was in her year, but it wasn't like they talked a lot. She heard Conan speak as she stood close and that Hufflepuff small boy was in their team as well. June had to hold her face straight as he suggested to scout. He could hide since he was small, but scout was not smart.

June decided not to listen to much and say how she saw it. '' Just spread out. Some stay with the flag protect it. And some try to get the flag. Older students know more spells, so in case they done something to their flag it's usefull if someone goes along.'' She had to think really smart. '' I'm gonna go.'' June said being the leader she liked to be, since no one else from their team was saying anything helpfull. But the older students had to help her with spells she didn't knew yet. '' Who's coming?'' June said as she didn't want more time to waste. If someone would come along they could, but she was not losing. She did notice someone from the other team running. So June took out her wand and slowly moved. She figured an simple accio was not gonna work, Celia was not so dumb. But she was moving towards their flag. But than suddenly she heard an noice in her way and noticed an bludger. She had to think in a split second and than pointed at it. '' Everte Statum'' June said focused and noticed the bludger flying away from her in another direction backwards. And smirked. And hold her wand close to continue.

Louis was relieved when Celia didn't call him out for breaking any rules. He was fairly sure she was trying to create as much chaos as she possibly could. A thought that was confirmed when Celia unleashed bludgers onto the game. They weren't flying nearly as fast as in the air, but they were still bludgers. Louis was trying to think of how to deal with them when one of his team members summoned her beater's bat. He laughed in surprise. "Awesome!" He called to her, then he copied her other move and cast a banishing charm on upcoming bludgers to send them in the other direction.
