Pondering

"I doubt you would be able to get me in that lake." Professor King stated stubbornly. "I doubt even your friend the giant squid could." he continued, looking back up at the sky.

"Oh dear," Cecily said, squeezing her eyes shut. "You've done it now. That sounded like a challenge...a dare! Must've..give into..temptation..."she peeked at him before shutting her eyes again.

"What are you doing?" Professor King inquired, looking at Cecily very unsure of what she thought she was doing.

"Catching you off guard," she said simply before grabbing his hands and using his surprise as leverage, she pivoted, caught his foot and threw them both into the water.

(Okay, huuuge godmode. Feel free to smack me down on this one. I'll edit if it's not cool. :p )

(((tis okay I suppose)))

Professor King was thrust into the water with Cecily, after resuffacing in the water he took off his cloak which held his wand and threw it on shore. "I should have seen that coming." he stated as he moved his now perfectly flat hair out of his face.

Cecily popped up from under the water close to Nicolas, startling herself. She found herself gazing up at his deep brown eyes and it wiped all thought of what she'd been about to say out of her mind.

"At least it's a nice day for a swim." Professor King stated, looking down at Cecily and then staring in her eyes a moment before breaking his gaze. "I just hope you haven't called the squid out."

Cecily was relieved when he looked away, it broke the odd spell she'd been placed under. "Squid?" she squeaked, looking around. She'd been joking earlier. She'd had a fear of them ever since she'd went fishing with her father one summer and he'd caught one. It'd grabbed her leg with its tentacle and wouldn't let go. When it flopped around and went over the side of the boat it'd almost taken her with it. She'd had nightmares about sinking into the black bottom of the ocean for days after. Just then, something bumped her leg and she squawked and flew at Nicolas, holding onto his shoulders, while looking around.

(I dunno if we really have squid in our lake...I don't think we do at least...other creatures and big fish prolly. :p
Haha, squawked...sounds like a chicken. )

(((A squid has been role played here in the past, though there is no squid character.)))

"Trying to scare me are you?" Professor King asked jovially, "I fear you won't catch me off gaurd twice in a row."

"Something bumped my leg, I swear!" she insisted, her eyes locking with his.

"Your other leg perhaps?" Professor King joked, figuring if she was serious that something had bumped her then it would probably have been a fish or something.

Cecily couldn't help but grin when he did. It calmed her down and made her think. "Probably just a fish,"she said, relaxing and not realizing she still had a hold of his shoulders. "Coming to get us for last Tuesdays fish sticks," she laughed.

"I always knew fish were vengiful things." Professor King confirmed with a smile. As he said this he finally realised what he had been trying to ignore for most of the summer; he liked Cecily.

"Come on,"she said, grabbing his hand and leading the way through the shallows to the edge. "Before they realize I had second helpings and get me first,"she laughed, looking back at him over her shoulder.

Professor King allowed Cecily to lead him back to the edge of the lake, "That wouldn't be good at all." he confirmed with a smile.

Cecily let go of his hand and got out of the water, casting a drying spell on first herself then Nicolas once he got out. She sat back down and refilled their drinks. The sun felt great now. "Well that was fun,"she said, patting the grass beside her and holding up his drink to him.

Professor King thanked Cecily for drying him off before accepting the drink again and sitting down beside her, closer than before this time. "Yes, it was." he agreed a smile still on his face. Though the summer was ending and this may be his only time to talk to Cecily without worrying about students or the likes.

"You know,"she said, pausing to take a drink, "this has been the most fun I've had in a long time. Thank you for spending it with me, Nicolas,"she said, smiling at him. She liked his smile and almost said so, catching herself in time.

"It's not a problem." Nicolas assured her, "I rather enjoy it myself." he added with another smile. He wanted to say so much more, but figured it would be foolish and pointless. Instead he stared out over the lake and at the pattterns the sun made on it's surface.

Cecily sighed contently. "This is really nice. The last day of our freedom before the students arrive and proceed to eat us alive. To the end of summer," she toasted, lifting her glass.

"Hear, hear." Professor King cheered as he too raised his glass then proceeded to take a sip of it. "Do you think Bellatrix would be missed if she didn't come back?" he joshed.

She took a big drink of hers, smiling as it cooled her down further. "Come now, if she wasn't here, we wouldn't have anything to do on a Saturday night," she winked, referring to the girls constant bad behavior.

"I can think of a few better things I could be doing those saturday nights." Professor King continued, "Counting the grass blades on the lawn being one of them."

Or having dinner with me, she thought. Where did that come from? Feeling flustered, she chuckled. "Infinitely better. We'll leave her crazy antics for Arithmos."
"We'll have fourth years this year. Are you apprenticing anyone?" she asked curiously.

"No, nobody has approached me about an apprenticeship, I'm starting to wonder if it's me or my subject." Professor King stated, "Are you?" He inquired, figuring that Cecily would apprentice only if somebody showed amazing ability in Herbology.
