Gryffindor Quidditch Practice Y44 S1

Santiago was feeling pretty good about himself so far and looked around for more bludgers to hit.

Louis' instinct was to immediately fly up to the quaffle and grab it again, but he hung back to observe the practice instead. He wondered which of the other chasers would grab it instead.

Aurora failed to hit the next bludger she was aiming for.

Ruby lined the bludger up perfectly with the seeker, whacking it as hard as she could, giving herself a small wiggle of the shoulders as a celebration as the bludger flew straight into @Dahlia Doherty

Dahlia thought she saw a glint of gold and was about to go for it when a bludger hit her shoulder. She groaned, rolling it out and losing track of what might have been the snitch.

Ruby hit another bludger but cursed loudly as it went wide.

Santiago missed his next shot and frowned.

Rāwhiti's heart skipped a beat as he spotted a flutter of gold on the other side of the pitch, and he pressed himself flat to his broom, racing towards it. He stayed as flat as he could be as the snitch zigzagged, weaving after it desperately, and after a few seconds of tense chase his fingers closed around the ball. "I GOT IT!" Rāwhiti called out, spiralling out to work off his momentum, snitch hand held high. He waited until he was sure both captains had seen before releasing it, glowing with pride as he returned to the search.

Dahlia was distracted from her searching hearing Rāwhiti call out, and she beamed at him. "Nice one!" She had wanted to get it first but he was pretty cool (and cute) and as long as he could find it that was all the better for the team. It disappeared pretty quickly as he let it go, while Dahlia pondered the best way to balance working with the team and searching for the snitch. It was a lot to focus on at once and very different from netball, but she was sure she'd get the hang of it in time.

Rāwhiti grinned at the praise from Dahlia, face heating a little as he returned to the search.

The snitch had very quickly disappeared, and Dahlia supposed she would just have to look harder.

Soren yelped when Aurora hit him, but let out a laugh and went to grab the quaffle as it came back into play. "I'll catch you later for that!" He called to his friend before starting around again.

Santiago spotted a bludger and raced after it. Unfortunately his shot went wide and hit one of the captains instead. He shot them an apologetic look before looking for the next bludger. @Louis Alcott

Rāwhiti flew on, eager to get a second catch and prove himself to the team.

Dahlia spotted a glint of gold, and this time didn't hesitate in chasing after it, hoping no bludgers were coming her way to throw her off. But she could shrug them off if they did. Thankfully this time she wasn't mistaken and soon her hand was around the small golden ball. "Got it!" she waved it in the air towards the captains, before letting it go and marvelling as it disappeared again so quickly.

Rāwhiti's head snapped around as he saw Dahlia speed up, pressing close to his broom and turning to chase after her. He was too far off though, and he felt a mix of pride and disappointment as he saw her capture the snitch. "Ka pai*!" He said cheerfully, trying not to be jealous as he returned to the search.

*Ka pai - Well done, commonly used expression.

Ruby chased down a bludger, whacking it, grinning as it soared into @Santiago Torres . It was a weird feeling, to be pleased by someone else’s pain.

Soren flew back around, going to make another shot, but a sharp pain in his ribs startled him and it threw off his aim. He winced, before chuckling. "Aurora, you're mean!" He called to his friend, taking a moment to rub his side.

Josh quickly got a hold of the quaffle once it was thrown back in and made his way around towards the hoops.

Aurora failed to hit anything this time.

Rāwhiti kept searching, hoping another snitch catch was in his future.

The snitch was already well out of sight, so Dahlia started searching again, half watching the rest of the team.

Aurora was once again able to hit a bludger, and she aimed directly for the seeker which hit dead on.

@Raawhiti Te Rangi

Dahlia flew around, avoiding bludgers and trying to see if she could spot the snitch. She wondered if she needed to learn to make it less obvious when she did for the future.

When Josh was close enough to the hoops he had completely missed.
