Apparition 2

Irene stood in her Ministry robes looking as poised as ever as she awaited the sixth years' arrival. Today, they'd finally get some practice in. She knew that some students had experience with side-along apparition, but doing it alone was a very different experience. They'd soon find that out for themselves. It was one thing to go along for the ride, and quite another thing to be the person who had to remember the 3 Ds and execute them perfectly.

"Let's go. You don't have all day and neither do I." Irene Finch urged the students forward impatiently as the first student walked tentatively through the open Great Hall doors. She took roll as they entered, shutting the doors from the distraction of younger students who wanted to see what was happening. "You don't need to be on top of each other. Space yourselves out!" she stated, exasperation in her tone. Irene gave her wand a small flourish and a large wooden hoop appeared in front of each student, falling into place before them.

Looking around at their faces, Irene stared at each student for the briefest of moments, making judgments about their ability to succeed at the task before them. She had been doing this long enough that she was rarely wrong. "Alright, let us begin. Today, you will make your first attempts at apparating" she declared, her hands on her hips as she walked around. "Before we begin, however, can someone remind us of the three Ds?" she pointed to a student and nodded her head as they responded.

"Excellent" she stated. "Now that you've all been reminded of the three Ds, it is time to put them into practice. For your safety, one of your school nurses is here" she nodded towards the corner where the nurse was stationed. "If you splinch yourself, please remain in your spot and the nurse or I will come to you. No sense bleeding all over the place" she stated with a small shake of her head, not even thinking about how startling that sentence might seem to a muggleborn. She didn't explain splinching either. Sooner rather than later, she was sure they'd learn if they didn't already know. "Begin. I will be walking around."

Points will be given to the student who answers the question. RP the lesson.
If you'd like your character to splinch themselves, please PM me first.
School nurse welcome!

Akihiro was starting to settled in at school again. He had plans set up for the semester, things he wanted to accomplish before heading home again between the years. He had plans with Aika and plans with Guilia, and despite the emotional issues he was still trying to figure out how to handle himself. For now, that meant focusing on his studies and his classes. He got up early, taking time to get dressed and making sure he looked presentable, all of his things gathered in his backpack neatly.

Though he didn't take his bag to this class. He was a bit nervous, but not enough to stop him. He took his place, taking deep breaths. He settled down, closing his eyes and concentrating. He took deep breaths, focusing on his center. He wasn't sure how long he meditated, but eventually he felt a little tug in his stomach, and when he opened his eyes he was standing several feet away from where he had been before. He smiled. It was a little progress, but still something. He followed the others out of class, pleased with himself.

Leonardo’s hands hadn’t stopped shaking since he’d woken up that morning. He had known that no matter all the reading in the world, it was going to be fine, most likely, but he was just nervous. Leo got to the great hall with everyone else and walked in to stand in amongst the rest of the year group. He nodded as she, or someone, reminded them of the three D’s. and then they were just to do it. He wsn’t sure if he’d expected more lectures or more demonstrations, but not to just do it. He stared at the hoop in front of him, and then glanced around the room as a few people seemed to manage it quickly. It took Leo the whole lesson before he managed to finally feel what he should and was able to lean into it. He felt the tug and was transported to stand in the hoop. He didn’t feel anything missing and was glad he was able to just leave the room.

Seamus arrived eagerly at the great hall, absolutely ready for apparating. They hadn’t managed to get to it in the previous lesson, which he definitely thought was a cop out. He stood in the hall, sticking close to his brother and then looked towards the woman. He didn’t raise his hand to answer the question and was mostly already focusing on the hoop. He could do this. This would be no struggle for him. The moment they were allowed to he focused on it. Put the destination in his mind, made sure he wasn’t letting his mind stray and quickly he felt that pull and apparate. He was pleased that he was one of the first to manage it. He was feeling pretty proud of himself. The teen was able to practice again before the time in the lesson ran out and he was able to leave the room.

Brevity arrived at the great hall, at exactly the point where people were being welcomed into the hall. She wasn't going to arrive a moment before she absolutely needed to. Brevity tried to not be annoyed by the fact in the previous class they hadn't gotten to apparition, knowing that they would get to it in this one. The slytherin stood amongst the crowd of other students, and stood a little apart where she'd be able to have some space, which turned out to be the right thing she needed as the hoop appeared in front of her. She listened along, but was mostly just waiting for when they could get started. It took some concentration and then reminding herself to not get nervous to be able to focus enough on it and then be able to do it. She felt the tug and heard the crack and was stood in the centre of the hoop. Brevity was pleased with herself as she left the hall.

Evie had been feeling herself getting tired lately, and there was no doubt in her mind as to why that could be. She was spending time on her animagus training rather than sleeping because she was afraid that if she missed any opportunity, she was going to fall behind and all of her previous efforts would be wasted. She was even missing out on practicing for quidditch as she was too tied up in her work. She wanted nothing more than to fly around on her broom, but knew that she'd get carried away and forget about things that mattered more. For now however, Evie had classes to attend, so she made her way to them.

Evie followed everyone to her next apparition class. As the Ministry lady immediately began demanding them all to spread out, Evie beamed and quickly did so, knowing that meant they were going to actually learn how to apparate now. She was glad for the reminder of the Three D's, and quickly repeated them in her head multiple times before she attempted it. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes and imagining herself standing in the center of the hoop. She opened her eyes, but didn't move, so tried again, and again, until finally she managed to get somewhere. When she opened her eyes again, she had one foot in the hoops and one not, but at least she hadn't splinched herself. Feeling a bit of a headache coming on, Evie exited the great hall for a nap when she was dismissed.

Jingyi was exited to actually practice apparition, sure that he was just going to find this whole thing easy and get through with flying colors. Of course there were the usual warnings at the start, Jingyi just trying to suppress the yawn as he blankly listened to whatever the instructor was saying. Thankfully, however, they were finally given free rein to practice, Jingyi instantly zeroing in on the hoop they were supposed to be transporting themselves too. Easy-peasy. Focusing, Jingyi took a breath, concentrating all of his energy into the stupid 3 D's and then, he squeezed his eyes close. He felt a tug, leaning into it and with a soft pop, the Gryffindor opened his eyes again to find himself standing in the hoop. Well, mostly in the hoop, he was standing on it with one foot, but that was good enough.

Hamish was almost excited for this, almost excited for a chance to try out his skills. Not like he even knew if he had any. But he'd been donig a lot of reading on it. It seemed like something he just really wanted to know, something that would be insanely useful and convenient. He walked to the Great Hall with his brother, waiting a bit and watching the others try it. He smiled, proud when his brother managed it, before stepping up and trying to do it himself. He shut his eyes, focusing, and let that pull move him forward. When he opened his eyes, he was thrilled to see he'd made it, that he'd moved exactly where he'd wanted to. He grinned and followed Seamus out, eager for the next lesson.

Maisie skipped down to class, eager for the lesson. She hummed happily, lighting up when she saw Brevity join the crowd. "Brevy!" She chirped, skipping over to her friend. She stayed close, moving with the others into the room. She listened to the woman speak, and cheered for Brevity when she managed to apparate succesfully. Maisie closed her eyes then, scrunching up her nose and focusing on the feeling of the pulling at her gut. She smiled brightly as she felt herself jerk forward, and when she opened her eyes she was standing on the edge of the circle. She giggled, clapping her hands. Pleased, she hurried after Brevity as they left the room.

Xinyi was a little nervous about this. He was usually okay with his magic, but what if he messed up? This was dangerous, after all. He tried to remember everything they'd been told, biting his lip and waiting a bit, watching more and more of his fellow students accomplishing at the task, apparating succesfully. He took a deep breath, turning to look at the circle he was meant to go to. He was scared, but he tried to push on anyway. Probably not his best idea. He ignored his churning gut and tried to lean into the tugging of it, only to stumble and fall with a sharp cry of pain as he landed. He didn't have to look to know he'd messed up- he had splinched himself, he'd hurt his leg, he wasn't sure how badly. He put a shaking hand to his thigh and pulled it up again, swallowing hard at the sight of blood. "Jingyi," He called, pale and shaking, trying to look for his brother and trying not to cry. @Jingyi Huang @Irene Finch

Irene kept scanning the room, making sure that everyone was getting their Sickles and galleons worth. So it took her a moment to notice the splinching that had transpired. It was bound to happen with so many children in the room. It was his voice that gave him away, and then with a scan the woman caught sight o d the blood. She gestured for a nurse as she surged forward. "Oh a splinching no doubt" she stated only the slightest of the sympathy betraying her voice. "Let the nurse tend to you" she stated before turning back to the class. "Nothing to see but a splinching. Let's get back to it" she stated firmly.

Renata was quite nervous about this upcoming lesson. She knew deep down it wouldn't be too bad, that she just had to breathe, remember to think carefully and focus on her destination and she wouldn't have any problems. She'd done side-along apparition before, with her father, so she vaguely knew how it was meant to feel. But it was still a pretty big thing to be able to do by herself, a complicated type of magic and a rite of passage for all young mages. If she could get her licence, because she was already seventeen she'd be able to apparate over the break, which she was really looking forward to. She just had to pass it, and she just had to believe she could pass it.

Renata was also a little startled when she was called upon to answer the question, but she took a deep breath and nodded. "Destination, determination, deliberation," she said, as those three words had been rolling around in her head the whole morning. She found a spot where she had enough space to move, and, having brought nothing more than the uniform she was wearing, took a few deep breaths and took her time focusing on the hoop. All she had to do was will herself into the hoop. She could do this. She closed her eyes, focusing entirely on moving into the hoop, and after a moment felt herself being pulled. She almost was jolted out of the spell in shock at the sudden feeling, but thankfully was able to keep enough focus that she completed it without injuring herself. Well, not perfectly - she was standing on the hoop, not inside it - but she had apparated. And next time, she wouldn't be so startled by it that she would nearly lose focus. Unlike poor Xinyi, it seemed. Renata winced, hoping he was alright. She had barely enough time to practice again and managed to do slightly better, not quite in the center of the hoop but still in it. Hopefully she'd do even better next time, but she had actually done it. She felt light, happy - the fact that she'd done it at all was a huge weight off her mind.

Felix was excited for the next Apparition lessons but also a little nervous. He had heard some of the horror stories about splinching but he was doing a pretty good job at keeping his cool about the whole thing. He had made sure to get to the lesson right on time and yet the instructor snapped at them. He made a face but stood with the rest of the class and awaited instructions, only to be scolded again. Geez, she was hard to please but finally they got started. He grinned at Renata who answered the instructor’s question. Of course she knew the answer. He also remembered the three D’s but he was hesitant to do much in class out of fear of being yelled at some more. Felix swallowed hard when they got to the splinching reminder and he spotted one of the school nurses in the corner. But he took a deep breath before getting started and repeated the three D’s over and over until he felt confident. He pulled out his wand and before he knew it there was a twisting sensation and suddenly he was standing in the middle of the hoop. He let out a nervous giggle until he heard someone cry out. He didn’t know the other boy well but there was a hush that fell over the class as they all froze in place until he was taken away by the nurse. Of course they were snapped at again and Felix got back to work until they were finally dismissed.

Eston was ready. He had asked for tips from Zee and Sutton. Both giving rather different tips. They were so different, Eston kind of expected that. He was going to keep each in mind, but also do his own thing. He hoped that would work. The Gryffindor boy was feeling rather confident though. He entered the Great Hall and stood among his classmates, making some small talk. The ministry worker apparently didn't like that. She was rather strict, calling the attention of the students. She even barked at them to move apart a little bit. Eston wasn't sure what her problem was, but he did what he was told and stood apart from the students next to him.

A wooden hoop appeared in front of him. This seemed so simple. Eston couldn't believe they were starting so small. He was of course underestimating how difficult appariation was though. He stood away from the hoop trying to think of the three D's. Nothing happened for awhile. He saw other people managing. Then he noticed a fellow Gryffindor get splinched. Eston's stomach swirled as he saw the blood. The Ministry worker didn't even seem fazed. So maybe this was a more difficult than he had given it credit for.

Eston continued to focus, harder than he had in awhile. He was determined. He knew his destination, inside the hoop, and now he just had to do it. He closed his eyes, focusing. Then an odd feeling in his stomach occurred. It felt like was on a roller coaster. He opened his eyes. He was in the hoop. He had done it. He was rather close to the edge, his foot touching it, but technically it was still in the hoop.

Eston wanted to try again, but there was no time. There was only one more lesson left. He knew he needed more practice, but he couldn't do that around the school. Appariation was only allowed in the Great Hall during these lessons. He would just have to practice more next class. Eston grabbed his things and left the Great Hall.

It was almost Harmony's seventeenth birthday. she had the paperwork ready to submit on the day. soon she would no longer be harmony. and would finally officially be sky. She didn’t dislike the name harmony. It was a nice name and ring like a bell. However it just had never been a name that had felt like hers.
She entered the great hall looking forwards to the ape ration class. She stood with the rest of her classmates somewhere at the back where she wouldn’t necessarily be noticed she focussed on standing still. As the ministry lady spoke about the three d’s what were they again he sighed. Even though this was an optional class she knew that she needed it. Maybe more than any other. It was a life skill after all. She almost missed the at the lady was saying and that it was time to practice. She moved to a spot in the hall and where she could practice and started to run through the three d’s under her breath before taking a step. destnation, deliberation Determination” step. Nothing. destination, deliberation, deviation” step nothing. deviation deliberation damnation step. Nothing. desperation deviation damnation.
She kept going with the same result until the class was over and they were dismissed. She left the hall hoping that next week she would have better results.

Gwen was excited about today's apparition lesson. She was leaving nothing up to chance, so she had dressed incredibly simply for once. No earrings, no bracelets, no unnecessary accessories. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail with a simple elastic band, and Gwen had triple checked her pockets to make sure there was nothing in there. She headed into the Great Hall and listened as the teacher told them what to do. She told them to space themselves out, and Gwen thought the lady sounded like she needed to get a bit more sleep. She sounded so mad, and for what? Gwen raised her hand when she asked for someone to name the three D's, but to her annoyance, Renata got to answer instead.

Then it was time for them to get started. Gwen wasn't completely sure what to do, but she figured focusing on the three Ds was a good start. All they had to do was appear in the wooden hoop at their feet. Gwen tried her best to focus and when she finally managed it, she beamed and looked around if anyone had seen it. Only to see that one of the Huang twins had hurt himself. Gwen huffed, annoyed that now al the attention was on him. Once he was gone, Gwen tried apparating a few more times, managing it once more.
