This was an important milestone in the life of a wizard, and Irene Finch knew that many of the students looked at their license as a taste of the freedom they'd earn on their way to becoming fully trained wizards. With the registration list tucked in a folder that was under her arm, the woman stepped into the room, her heels announcing her presence. She called attendance, making sure that no one had snuck into the room without paying their galleons. Tucking the folder away, Irene began. "Good afternoon, sixth years. My name is Irene Finch and I'm Head of the Department of Magical Transportation. I'm here on behalf of the Ministry of Magic to prepare you for your apparition exam." She said all of this briskly. Irene was not a lady who liked her time wasted. In truth, she enjoyed teaching apparition to much of the dull paperwork she was often stuck doing as the head of a department. Walking around as she spoke, Irene's icy blue eyes looked at all of them and none of them at once. "The headmistress has been kind enough to lift the enchantment placed on this room so that you will be able to practice apparating within these walls for the duration of our lessons. But do not attempt to do so in your free time. It would be...unwise to attempt practicing here or elsewhere outside of these lessons" she stated in a very firm tone.

With so few students and the furniture against the walls as she'd requested, her voice carried easily around the large room. The woman focused on a student who'd been fidgeting, her blue eyes piercing into the student. "I will warn you from the start that your ability to apparate will have little to do with what house you are in or your blood status. Your ability to apparate will, solely, depend on your ability to focus on the three Ds: Destination.Determination. Deliberation." She enunciated each word. "There are no shortcuts. If you fail to grasp these concepts, you will fail your exam. First, you must choose your destination." She'd made a quick scan and found the perfect landing point. " Next, you will focus your determination and once you feel you are ready..." With a small step, Irene apparated next to one of the sixth years who had been whispering while she was lecturing and continued, "you must move with deliberation like so." She gave the student a sharp look.

Moving towards the front of the room, Irene continued lecturing the students. She knew that some were probably expecting to apparate today but she also knew that the foundation for apparating started with this very important information. Soon enough their time was up, and they had done nothing but listen. "Don't forget the 3 Ds. I will see you all next time. A word to the wise: Don't bring anything with you to the next lesson. The less you carry, the easier it will be." With that, she dismissed the students though she waited a few moments longer in the event that any of the students had questions.

Please RP the lesson. Remember that these lessons are so that your student can earn a license. Without it, they can't apparate!

This is just the first of only three lessons before the exam takes place.

Minnie felt rather odd as the term got started again mostly because she hadn’t really left the school. She hadn’t gone home for the holidays and this was the first time she’d done that. She had no reason to leave and thus as others arrived back she was just there. She hadn’t left and it felt like nothing had changed. Which really from her perspective they hadn’t. She had been at school, the term had ended and now it was starting again. She’d reduced her studying a little over the break, but not a whole lot. Not a noticeable amount. Why bother when it wasn’t like she was going to get gifts or have people to spend the time with. Eric had gone home and she couldn’t fault him for it. If she could go home to a family that wasn’t actively ignoring her she would. But since they were and being there would’ve made her feel worse than just being lonely at school she had opted for the latter. But, today was the first week of the second semester and Minnie was already way ahead of her studies. She was getting herself ready for the day, getting her books and notes putting them in her bag and then eventually when ready heading out of the dorm and to class.

Minnie stepped into the great hall, apparition. She was rather looking forward to this. It would make her movement so much easier. No one else and nothing to rely on. Flying was fine but she knew she would much prefer this even if others said it was uncomfortable. She’d handle uncomfortable. The girl looked to the woman who was teaching them, nodding along as she explained that she was from the ministry and would be teaching them. Minnie listened with keen interest as the woman began going over it. She wasn’t sure if the part about purebloods meant that those like her who studied hard and worked hard would find this easier. But she would find out she was sure. She nodded as the woman went over the three D’s and she was keen to retain that information. It was vital, the thing they would need to remember. With that the lesson itself was drawn to an end and Minnie was able to head back out of the great hall, she was going straight to the library to read and revise all that she could on this.

Daintree had spent the holiday essentially doing nothing, he’d gone home but things hadn’t really gone how he’d wanted it to. It had been fine, but over dinner, his brother had not so politely dropped the crumb that Daintree and he weren’t real brothers. It had been a surprise to him to hear him say it. It had followed Dain talking about his magic and wondering out loud a little about the genetics of magic, and that had led to a long conversation when his entire family structure had been broken down. It didn’t really change how he felt towards his step-mother, but it just changed things. He’d always assumed he was muggleborn, but he maybe hadn’t been. The slytherin gathered up the different things that he had, making sure that he got all the books and notes and ignoring the odd feelings about it. He was focusing on his studies, focusing on his learning and this first year of NEWTs, on getting enough to continue with his classes though his motivations and his determination was certainly lower. He grabbed the last bits and pieces he would need and then headed out of the dorm.

Daintree had heard a lot about apparition, and in his wondering around the magical world he had seen it in action, but he was rather curious to now learn it. It was possible the only class this semester that he knew he would actually be trying to do good, to be good at. The rest of his classes were not things that interested him. He walked into the hall with everyone else and looked towards the woman at the front of the class who began speaking. She was someone that Daintree had seen around the place but until now hadn’t really paid attention to. He listened and nodded along as she spoke, thinking it was quite good if this was an equal playing field for everyone, there would be no advantages to anyone they all just had to work to get good at this. He nodded and then repeated in his head the three D’s. It wasn’t too much more of a lecture before the professor dismissed them and he with everyone else headed out the hall.

It had been a while since Eric had been excited about a class, but this was something new. Something useful. Something he would actually use in the real world. Ever since he was young, Eric had wished he could apparate. Especially when he was angry, it would be so much easier to walk away from fights if he could just disappear. It would definitely have saved him a lot of detention.

The person teaching them this skill was someone from the Ministry, and Eric immediately didn't like her. Not just because she worked for his aunt, she just seemed like the sort of person who liked having authority over others. At the very least, he was sure she was trying to intimidate them. He scowled at her. Though he also paid close attention to what she was saying. He knew this was important for trying to apparate, and Eric was not going to fail. He'd heard one of his older cousins had failed and never retook the exam, she still couldn't apparate. Eric was not going to be a loser like that. Even though it may look like he wasn't paying attention, Eric was carefully taking in every word of the lecture. When it was over, he actually headed to the library to read up on it some more, catching up with Minnie on the way.

The apparition lesson was something important and interesting. So Noel was excited and made it's way to the great hall. He was ready for an new semester and to let go of all that was before. He was ready for anything and only what he wanted. And if there would be some girl that suddenly came by or he would like he would take that chance but it was also Noel time, which ment getting all out of the years still of Hogwarts and to make sure he got an shot at headboy next year.

As he stood there he noticed a lot of students. And he went standing with the people he liked and far away from Eric and Minnie. Noel listened as the woman from the Ministry introduced herself and he nodded friendly. He loved what the woman said that it didn't ment who you were and where you came from. He noted the three D's and tried to remember them. He saw the woman going from the one to other place and grinned. It was cool and handy, and very useful if he wanted to become an auror. He was dissapointed this was all, but he hadn't expected it to be more so no suprise. He made sure he got the three d's in his mind and on paper and left as the lesson was over.

Hattie couldn’t be more relieved that her OWL exams had gone smoothly and it was all over. She had received pretty decent grades, and took the liberty of taking some subjects out of her schedule this year in hopes that it would take some pressure off her. She was only left with a few now, which looked much better every time she looked at her timetable. The teen had a smile on her face as she packed her belongings into her backpack and headed to her classes, hoping this year there would be some interesting content to learn.

This year Hattie was finally able to start learning how to apparate. She excitedly joined the other sixth years in the Great Hall, gathering around as she listened to the lady from the Ministry talk. She was excited to apparate just like her father did as it would definitely get her to places quicker and she wouldn't have to always rely on him. It was just another step towards independence, and Hattie liked the idea of that. The lady went over the three D's which they needed to think about every time they attempted to apparate. The lady stressed that they were very important, so Hattie even made sure to write them down. Unfortunately, they weren't going to start apparating just yet and so the sixth years left the Great Hall once they were dismissed and Hattie walked to her next class.

Ryan never really liked new lessons, but they were needed to learn new things. When he read the list of new lesson Apparition at first wondered, but then understood its meaning and why it was necessary to go to it to get a license for movement in the magical style. At fixed when really lesson happens, so as not to forget and miss the first lesson. He had a motto lately, if you delay, you will miss everything important.

Therefore, a certain day and time went where a lesson was set. He soon joined a large group of students. Ryan stood in Hattie, but his attention was drawn to a lady from the ministry who stood in front of Irene Finch and listened carefully to what she said, and so she taught them to focus on their goal in order to reach their ultimate goal. All this he tried to keep in mind to remember for the next lesson lecture, when they were fired he went back to the common room.

Adorah had seen quite a few adults apparate when she'd been shopping, but the concept was still rather foreign to her. She'd taken a portkey but knew that was different to actually apparating. Adorah had read up on the subject prior to their first lesson, and the description of what it felt like or what bad things could happen made her rather anxious. Finding a spot in the Hall, she listened closely to the instructor, repeating the three words she told them. Destination, Determination Deliberation. Destination, Determination, Deliberation. Destination, Determination, Deliberation, she thought. It was clear the Ministry woman wasn't expecting them to apparate today, but even watching someone so close to her move through the air was wild. Hoping she was better at apparating than she was at flying, Adorah looked around at her fellow students before heading to the library.

Aisa returned to Hogwarts for the second semester of her sixth year feeling a bit anxious. Her final year was getting closer and closer, and after that, she had to actually be part of the wizarding world. Unless she chose not to. The thought had occurred to her before, the idea of going to a muggle university instead. But something about living without magic made her feel sad. She just had to figure out what she wanted to do within the magical world.

The Gryffindor was somewhat curious about the apparition lessons, though her brother had told her a bit about it. It still surprised her that wizards and witches could actually... teleport, and she often forgot it was a thing since it didn't happen around Hogwarts. She could definitely see why it was useful, though, and she wanted to learn to do it. She listened to the lady who introduced herself as Irene Finch, part of the Ministry. She quietly listened to the lecture, taking in all the information. It sounded pretty vague to Aisa, who preferred a more direct explanation. Wasn't there an incantation or something? That would make it much easier. When the lesson was over, Aisa figured she should note down the three D's. They were dismissed and Aisa left the great hall, mulling over everything that had been said.

If there was one thing Sully had been looking forward to learning, it was apparition. What kid hadn’t imagined what it would be like to be able to teleport anywhere they wanted? And now Sully actually got to learn how.

He listened impatiently as the ministry lady introduced herself. She seemed a bit uptight and Sully mostly ignored her warnings, only really tuning back in when she started saying more about how apparition actually worked. Sully had managed to work out flying without any magical background. He was confident he could get this one down easy too. It was a let down when the lesson ended with just a quick demonstration, but Sully was levied by the promise that next lesson they’d be trying it themselves and left the room in high spirits, badgering Aisa and Noel as they left the room.

There were plenty of branches of magic taught at Hogwarts that Sydney thought were a waste of time but Apparition was not one of them. While she was certain it wouldn’t be a struggle for her, Sydney was anxious to get started, eager for a chance to finally have more freedom around the wizarding world. She was already 17 and free to perform magic outside of school, so now learning apparition was simply the final step.

Standing with her peers, Sydney tried not to roll her eyes at their giddy chattering, listening to the ministry worker who’d come to teach them intently. She appreciated the woman’s blunt manner regarding mastering the subject, still intent she’d have no issue. When Finch had finished going over the basic concepts, they were released for the day and Sydney was already keen for the next lesson.
