This was an important milestone in the life of a wizard, and Irene Finch knew that many of the students looked at their license as a taste of the freedom they'd earn on their way to becoming fully trained wizards. With the registration list tucked in a folder that was under her arm, the woman stepped into the room, her heels announcing her presence. She called attendance, making sure that no one had snuck into the room without paying their galleons. Tucking the folder away, Irene began. "Good afternoon, sixth years. My name is Irene Finch and I'm Head of the Department of Magical Transportation. I'm here on behalf of the Ministry of Magic to prepare you for your apparition exam." She said all of this briskly. Irene was not a lady who liked her time wasted. In truth, she enjoyed teaching apparition to much of the dull paperwork she was often stuck doing as the head of a department. Walking around as she spoke, Irene's icy blue eyes looked at all of them and none of them at once. "The headmistress has been kind enough to lift the enchantment placed on this room so that you will be able to practice apparating within these walls for the duration of our lessons. But do not attempt to do so in your free time. It would be...unwise to attempt practicing here or elsewhere outside of these lessons" she stated in a very firm tone.

With so few students and the furniture against the walls as she'd requested, her voice carried easily around the large room. The woman focused on a student who'd been fidgeting, her blue eyes piercing into the student. "I will warn you from the start that your ability to apparate will have little to do with what house you are in or your blood status. Your ability to apparate will, solely, depend on your ability to focus on the three Ds: Destination.Determination. Deliberation." She enunciated each word. "There are no shortcuts. If you fail to grasp these concepts, you will fail your exam. First, you must choose your destination." She'd made a quick scan and found the perfect landing point. " Next, you will focus your determination and once you feel you are ready..." With a small step, Irene apparated next to one of the sixth years who had been whispering while she was lecturing and continued, "you must move with deliberation like so." She gave the student a sharp look.

Moving towards the front of the room, Irene continued lecturing the students. She knew that some were probably expecting to apparate today but she also knew that the foundation for apparating started with this very important information. Soon enough their time was up, and they had done nothing but listen. "Don't forget the 3 Ds. I will see you all next time. A word to the wise: Don't bring anything with you to the next lesson. The less you carry, the easier it will be." With that, she dismissed the students though she waited a few moments longer in the event that any of the students had questions.

Please RP the lesson. Remember that these lessons are so that your student can earn a license. Without it, they can't apparate!

This is just the first of only three lessons before the exam takes place.

Emily was excited for her apparition lessons. She definitely wanted to get her license so that she could freely do it when she was older. That is why she found herself in the Great Hall with most of the other sixth years. Emily listened to the Ministry worker and hoped they were going to practice today. She knew your house and blood didn't care, but she hoped she had some skill hiding in her.

She looked at Tyler and shot him a grand smile, she saw this as a tiny competition between the two of them. Emily soon realized the first lesson wasn't about practicing today and thus she listened and wrote down words here and there. The three D's sounded very important and she made sure to outline those. When the lesson ended she left the Hall hoping they were going to practice next lesson.

Aonghas felt an immense relief building, one that was sitting at the back of his mind just waiting for the day he was done. He was so close to being able to leave that it felt like a dam was building in his mind so he wouldn’t relax too soon and end up failing his last classes. All of his school work would be wasted but he at least wanted to finish with a perfect record. He wanted to be able to say he did well right up until the very end. Like given an opportunity he might’ve really made something of himself. But regardless he could feel it building in his head and the job was to just not let it overwhelm him. He was getting himself together for the day ahead of him, grabbed the books and notes and placing them into his bag. He’d already mostly got rid of his old books. He’d left them at home, since he super wouldn’t need them any more. He didn’t outright throw them out, perhaps Liusaidh might find some use to them or Fraser even. He hadn’t parted with them entire, he just hadn’t brought them back to school. Aonghas was getting the books he would need for this day and placing them into his bag. He gathered everything he would need and then headed to his first class of the day.

Aonghas was glad he’d stuck around school, if only for this. He’d be able to get lessons and do the exam without too much hassle. He walked into the great hall with the rest of the class noting how empty the place look comparatively to how it had looked earlier in the day. He looked to the woman, the teacher who began speaking. He nodded along as she explained where she was was from and then went on to tell them more about how one apparated. He didn’t care about this extra information that she was giving them and just wanted to just get started but as she instructed them on what it took, on the fact there was no reach around you just had to work, Aonghas realised they wouldn’t get to it in this lesson. He just put away those expectations he had and focused on what the professor was saying and showing them how to do it. It didn’t look that hard when she showed them but he could imagine it was much harder than it looked. With that the lesson was wrapped up and Aonghas headed out of the great hall.

Cyzarine walked into the dorm room, she’d been keeping herself busy ever since she’d come back to school, without Mihail nshe was feeling a little lost, admittedly they hadn’t spent all of their time together, they’d been close and she had spent all the time she could with him, but now without that option she was less sure of herself, less certain of herself, at least just in the beginning, she needed to find her footing once again but she could do that. She almost certainly could. Cyzarine was just keeping busy, she’d gone for a walk after breakfast making the most of the warm air to be able to enjoy a short morning walk. She’d come back to the dorm and was beginning to get ready for the day, changing into her uniform, pinning the prefect badge to her chest and then was grabbing the different things that she would need for this day and heading out of the dorm room and to the first class of the day. She just needed to readjust, find her footing and focus on all her responsibilities and she would be just fine and she could start that now, now that she was heading to her first class of the day.

Cyzarine was equal parts keen and nervous about apparition it was a common and good thing amongst wizards but that didn’t exactly make it easy or simple or not scary. She was with the rest of the students in her class as they were brought into the great hall. She could admit that helped build her keenness. It was just really happening. She might fail but she was getting an opportunity to really try it. She glanced at the others in her year group, seeing if any of them felt as excited as she did. Cyzarine looked towards the professor and listened as she explained who she was. Cyzarine wondered if Mihail would end up getting taught by this woman too, or if his family would teach him and he’d simply do the exam with her. It just didn’t entirely matter. She listened along to what they were being taught, listening to the three D’s of the lesson. She nodded along easily. Eventually after a demonstration the lesson was wrapped up. They were dismissed front he hall without an opportunity to try and well, that would probably end up being next time. This hadn’t really calmed her nerves about it, but it had also made her no less excited.

Jasper couldn't believe how fast this year was going. He hadn't really done anything interesting yet, and knew he had to remedy that as soon as possible. He had bought a bunch of fireworks over break, and was hoping for a good way to use them soon enough. The Slytherin hadn't gotten in nearly as much trouble as he had imagined he would at Hogwarts, and he was slowly running out of time. It just sucked that in order to become an Auror like he dreamed, he had to do his best at school as well.

Jasper headed to the Great Hall for the first Apparition lesson. He knew that was a skilil that would be important for him too. He couldn't imagine being an auror without being able to apparate. It was essential that he passed this class. The teacher from the ministry called attendance, then introduced herself as Irene Finch. Jasper's first impression of her was that she had no sense of humor at all, and that disappointed him a bit. She explained the enchantment on the room had been lifted, and that it would be stupid to attempt practicing around Hogwarts outside of these lessons. Jasper was itching to get to the good stuff, but it seemed like that wasn't in the cards or today. The professor launched into a lecture, about the three D's and a bunch of other stuff. The most memorable thing about it was the demonstration she gave, but Jasper tried his best to pay attention to the theory. He needed to figure it all out in order to pass. When the lesson was over, he felt a little nervous. This sounded like it was a lore more complicated than he had previously imagined.

Lars knew that apparating was an important skill, but that didn't stop it from being terrifying. He kind of wished he hadn't signed up for these lessons, but his parents had insisted. It was important, they said. Fleur had tried to assure him it wasn't so bad, but things usually came easily to her, especailly things that didn't come particularly easily to Lars. He could still clearly remember her telling him in elementary school that it wasn't that hard to make friends, but it hadn't been that simple for him.

The boy joined his classmates in the great hall, glancing around for Blake before remembering he shouldn't be doing that. He went to stand near Lily instead, giving her a quick smile before focusing on the scary Ministry lady. She told them about apparating, making it instabtly clear that itw as not going to be simple. It also became clear she was not going to take pity on any of them if they failed to be perfect in this, which was a bit unsettling. She talkd to them about not practicing apparition outside these lessons, which made the whole thing even more intimidating. Then she launched into theory, and Lars wished he could take notes. The teacher spoke about destination, determination and deliberation, which were clearly very important. Lars listened to the rest of the lecture carefully, trying his best not to be distracted by anything. When the lesson was over, he felt more insecure than he had been when he started. He left quickly.

Elliot was still relieved he didn't have to spend all this semester prepping for OWLs or NEWTs, but he hadn't really considered how nerve wracking having apparations lessons was going to be. Apparation was a skill Elliot had been looking forward to for years, but now he was standing in the great hall, listening as Ms Finch spoke, he was filled with a lingering dread that he was going to mess this up. The last thing he wanted was to fail his exam and be stuck using floo and portkeys for the rest of his life. Or worse, muggle transportation. He'd had even long, boring car and plane rides with his dad to last a lifetime.

Standing next to Lars, Elliot tried not fidget under Ms Finch's cold gaze and just listen. He hadn't been sure if he should bring a notebook or not, though he had tucked a small one in his pocket, it seemed wrong to try and pull it out now when no one else was taking their notes. Instead, Elliot just tried to internalize everything Ms Finch said, especially when she mentioned next lesson he should leave even the small notebook behind. When she was finished speaking, Elliot let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, relieved today's lesson had just been theory for now as he left the hall.

Being back at Hogwarts was nice, for the most part. Tyler had enjoyed the relative peace and quiet of his break, but he was glad to be back at school where he at least had some sort of purpose and goal. He also had a girlfriend now, which was great even if it was also a little scary. Tyler didn't know how to be a boyfriend, and that was something he had to figure out. Though he also was eager to show Emily off and appear together as a couple.

He headed to the Great Hall for the first apparition lesson of the semester, listening quietly as Miss Finch explained where she was from and what she did. It was clear she was going to be on the stricter side, and he knew he didn't want to get on her bad side because of it. She explained about the enchantments on the great hall, which explained why they would be able to apparate here soon enough. Tyler caught Emily's smile, and smirked back at her. He saw the challenge in her eyes, it was going to be a competition between them who would get it first. As much as he liked her, he still really wanted to be better. But this lesson was only going to be theory, it seemed. He listened quietly as the teacher explained the three D's, destination, determination, deliberation. She went on in more detail and Tyler tried his best to focus on it all. When the lesson ended, he left the great hall. He was curious to see how it would go next time, and who would be the first of their year group to apparate.

Sophie couldn’t believe that she had made it this far through her Hogwarts journey. She was already going to start learning how to apparate, and she couldn't help but feel a little relieved. It would help her quite a lot and she just hoped that she would be good enough at it to not think about it too much. She entered the Great Hall with the rest of the sixth years and gathered around to listen to the Ministry lady talk. She began lecturing them about the three D's, which she really tried to emphasise. Did more experienced wizards think this way too? She nodded at the lady's words though, hoping she could remember it for the time that they actually tried it. Once dismissed, Sophie followed the pool of students that headed out and headed in the direction of her next class.

The beginning of another new semester, where once again Nell found herself haunted by the end of the previous semester. She hadn't really thought much of anything about being matched up with Jasper for the Yule Ball, figuring they would goof the night away like usual. And they had, mostly, the ball had been fun, but... that was almost the problem. She couldn't stop thinking about how comfortable and carefree she felt with Jasper, how natural it had felt to dance with him, to kiss him. It was the polar opposite of the nervous excitement she had felt about Selene, but it felt familiar, somehow, and Nell didn't want to think about what this meant.

It was a relief to have classes to distract herself, and Apparition was one class she had looked forward to for a long time. It would make things a lot easier in the upcoming holidays, being able to get around by herself and she was excited to learn something so different to the branches of magic they had studied so far. She joined Elliot, Lars, and Lily, and tried very hard to pretend she hadn't stood with them to consciously avoid Jasper. She listened as the ministry lady introduced herself and gave an overview of what they would be learning, committing the three D-s to memory quickly. All she had to do was focus? This might not be so bad after all. Nell was a bit disappointed that the first class was just a lecture, but at the same time she was already excited for next week when they were dismissed, looking forward to putting her skills to the test.

Lily was nervous about this lesson, really. It hardly seemed real that they were sixteen and ready to be learning this. She was waiting for the lesson to begin, shifting from foot to foot, smiling as Lars, then Elliot, and eventually, Nell stood with her. The last one surprised her, but she knew that Lars and Nell were friends. She turned her attention to the woman that was teaching them as she began to speak, listening intently. She repeated the three D's in her mind, hoping she could remember it properly. She swallowed as they were dismissed, glad they didn't have to attempt anything today.

Jasper was not looking forward to the end of the year, already knowing he would miss Arinna dearly when he was here without her next year. He sighed, spotting the other Jasper and moving to stand near him. Jasper wasn't nervous about this lesson at all, listening easily as the woman spoke about the theory of apparition. He took note of the three d's, a little disappointment in his gut as they were released without actually practicing anything. Ah well. Next time then. He sighed and followed the others out of the room.

Selene made her way to the great hall. She was nervous about apperation. she had hoped that she would be able to succeed and get her licence. wand magic was not something that she had ever been particularly good at but she hoped that one day she would be able to apperate so she could travel. she could visit her aunt, go back to the le fey house in the UK, or visit her aunt in Salem. and while in Salem she COUKd visit someone else. ever since her birthday Thackery kept popping into he mind.
She found a space at the back of the room as the teacher introduced herself as being from the ministry and that today's class was mainly a theory one. she felt rather relieved at that revelation.
As the witch explained the process of apperation she felt a little more confident in it. it seemed like it was more of a mental exercise than she had given it credit for.
three d's sounded simple but she had a feeling that it was more simple in theory than in practice. Destination, determination, deliberation, simple. her mind flicked to the many destinations she would be able to visit. all too soon the class was over and she left the room heading upstairs to the owlery to send a letter to her distant friend.

Most things made Clifton nervous these days, and apparition lessons were no exception. He knew that apparating could be perfectly safe, but he had heard more than enough horror stories from his father's work to cast a dark shadow over the entire idea. It was much too easy to splinch yourself by accident and wind up horribly injured, when all you had wanted to do was pop around the corner to buy some milk. Clifton had seriously considered just... not trying for his license at all, committing to a life of getting around by floo and bus, but his father had been fairly insistent that Clifton was being silly for worrying so much. So he had showed up in the Great Hall with the rest of his classmates, trying hard not to look at Lily.

Being surrounded by his yearmates was doing an excellent job of driving home to Clifton just how few friends he had, and he was relieved when the woman from the Ministry began the lesson, giving him something to focus on other than how alone he felt. Dad had already given him a long lecture about safe apparating technique and things he needed to be careful of, but he listened carefully nonetheless, wondering if the Ministry in New Zealand had a different way of approaching things than his dad's department back in England. It all sounded pretty much the same though, and Clifton was relieved that he didn't have much new information to memorise. He was even more relieved that they wouldn't actually be trying to apparate in the first lesson, and quickly made his way out of the Great Hall once class was over, glad to be done with this for now.

Blake had been looking forward to apparition lessons for a long time. Being able to get around by himself would be game-changing. No more depending on floo, no more having to ask his mum to side-along him places. He knew he wouldn't be able to get his license until the end of the next holidays, cursing his late birthday, but at least he would know how to do it, be ready for that upcoming exam. He tried not to look too eager as he piled into the Great Hall with the rest of his classmates, quietly avoiding Lars' group.

Blake was a bit surprised there was an outside teacher coming in to teach them, but he supposed it made sense. This was a Ministry subject, not really a school one. He listened harder than he ever had in any Hogwarts class before, doing his best to memorise everything the woman said. Destination, determination, deliberation. He could remember that, easy. Almost felt too easy, after the amount of pages of notes he had failed to take in all his other classes. But Blake committed the phrase and its meaning to memory, focusing on everything the woman from the Ministry said. He was disappointed when she said they weren't going to be apparating today, but he supposed that would be too good to be true. Next time, though... Blake made a mental note to dress light for the next Apparition lesson, and left the Great Hall with the rest of his classmates once the lesson was over.

Apparition was another core subject Vi had to get right or else she’d be useless in the field she was entering in after Hogwarts. It’s like a bus driver without a bus or a license for that matter, without any, how can a bus driver be a bus driver? It was a poor analogy, though it still made sense. Vi came to the lesson which was meant to be given in the great hall. That seemed right, the great hall was a big enough space to appear and disappear in different places of the grand room. The slytherin stood in silence waiting for the lesson to begin. The Head of the Dept. of Magical Transportation, Ms. Irene Finch, would be given the lecture. That means Vi could be possibly seeing her in the foreseeable future. Possibly. Vi listens intensively to what the witch had to say, making sure she didn’t miss any of it. The woman demonstrated how to apparate, she made it seem so easy. That will be Vi once she gets a hang of it. Once the class was dismissed, Vi left to do some studying.

Mordred Cavanaugh felt free thinking about learning apparition. His father was giving him more charge over the company budget, which was definitely stressful. At least he had something going for him since it wasn't school. This license was something he needed. If he couldn't do anything else related to school, he at least needed to learn how to apparate. The Keeper stood in the Great Hall and turned after hearing the sound of heels. The instructor did not look bad, so he was not worried. There was nothing wrong with being stern. Slytherins should be used to it by now because of Professor Styx. Mo kept his hands stuffed in his pockets as the woman made her way around. He found his shoes much more interesting for some reason. Ms. Finch mentioned the Three D's. Determination. Deliberation. Dedication? Was that it? He was disappointed that they would not be learning today, but he felt it was the best since he was still unsure of what dedication had to do with apparition.
