Closed A Night For Four

Eoghan wasn't sure he'd thought this one through. He'd presumed Lilith would join Felix and Nia together, leaving him on his own to his peace and quiet, but suddenly he was stood on the edge of the hall beside the fourth year, like a stray cat someone had left behind. He didn't even have a drink left to sip, anything to distract him from the awkward silence that followed.

It happened so quickly that Lilith hadn't the time to protest before she was dragged to the dance floor. "You didn't have to leave Nia, I could have survived the night without dancing." She said hesitantly. She'd only danced like once at a valentines dance, but it was okay she got to spend time with Eoghan still. She didn't even know if she could dance. "I don't even know if I know how to dance to be honest..."

Mania smiled as Fifi took Lilith to the dance floor, glad that the other girl could get a least one dance in. Though she hadn't thought it through because now she was left with the stonewall of guy that was Eghan. Sipping at her drink the fourth year glanced at the prefect. "She looks very pretty tonight." Nia stated, gesturing towards Lilith. The only times she'd seen the blonde smile was when the other Ravenclaw was around so should be a safe topic.

"Surviving isn't living Lili," Felix called over his shoulder as they approached the dance floor. He turned to face her probably once they'd re-joined the group, the familiar volume shadowing their voices. "It's not that hard, besides," Felix smirked, "You've got me this time." Eoghan walked around as though he had a stick up his jacksie that even if Lilith was to dance with him, she probably wouldn't get very far. He slid an arm around her waist, purposefully not glancing in Eoghan's direction. He may have once felt a little something toward Lilith, but these days he was more than confident that they were friends, so the prefect didn't feel awkward in the slightest.

Eoghan knew very little about the Gryffindor, that he wouldn't have known how to make conversation with her even if he wanted to. "Mhmm," he agreed, watching with close inspection as Felix decided to hold his girlfriend rather closely. Was this how they were that night in the Owlery? Eoghan knew he could trust them both, but that didn't mean it was easy to let his guard drop.

Lilith almost winced at Felix's words, smething about saying surviving wasn't living made it all sound so terrible when really it was one dance. Giving a small smile she nodded. "Very well then, I expect great hings from you now Fifi." She told him with a grin. Placing her hands how she remembered she'd done with her grandma and father those few times they'd danced. "Lead the way Layton, wait that rhymes!"

Alright give us nothing, was what Nia thought as Eoghan just hummed. Her eyes were on Felix and Lilith and she watched as Fifi held the other girl rather closely. She was confident enough in whatever they had going on and the fact that the prefects were just best friends that it didn't bother her really. What did bother her was the silence. It was torture. Truly. "How long have you two been together?" She blurted, simply wanting to make some conversation and not knowing much about the couple.

Well now the pressure was on if Lilith was going to be expecting things from him. Felix smiled, leading her in a way he'd done with Nia too although this time it felt substantially different. He supposed that was to be expected given the nature of their relationships. He was glad that she'd gotten involved and not let the chance go to waste, too. So many years had gone by when he'd seen her leaving early, or he'd catch sight of her in the common room when the evening had barely begun. "You really do look amazing," he told her sincerely. There was a small part of him that wanted to keep hold of Lilith, because at least like this, he could make sure his best friend was happy.

Eoghan gave Mania a side eye, but misjudged how much smaller she was than him. He'd side eyed the table behind her before lowering his gaze a little further. "Three years," the prefect replied after a moment. They'd gotten together in their second year, although there had clearly been something there during their first, too. "What about you?" He didn't really care but perhaps Nia would spill more beans than Felix ever did.

It was far easier than she'd anticipated and Lilith just let Felix lead them and focused on not stepping on his toes. Dancing hadn't ever been a priority but it was nice to get to dance at least every once in a while. She smiled at Felix's compliment. "Thank you, you don't look too bad yourself." Lilith replied honestly. "Thank you for dancing with me, this is actually kind of fun."

"Not too bad, not too bad! Ilves you offend me," Felix teased, still leading them in their dance through the sea of students. His features softened however after a moment, "You, are very welcome." He didn't like to think that Lilith was missing out on things because of who she spent so much time with. Eoghan had his uses, but Felix didn't think he exactly knew how to have fun. Felix wanted to check in with the Ravenclaw, make sure she was handling things as the Christmas period drew closer, but he didn't want to bring the mood down either. "You know I'm here for you, don't you?" Felix said, leaning his head a little closer so that he could make sure he heard her.

Mania glanced up at the tower, the guy could probably lick some clouds if he tried. She nodded at the answer, they'd been together for pretty long then. She wondered if they'd ever even considered others, but it wasn't her place to ask. "Well we have had our thing going for a bit now." She said with a shrug. They'd only spoken about what was between them at the beginning of the semester but it'd been going on for a bit before that too, there still was no label though and she didn't feel like specifying it.

Eoghan didn't know what Mania was referring to and frankly, he wasn't sure she did either. "Your thing?" he pushed, hoping he could get some intel to feed back to Lilith once she was finished with the sweaty boy. "Either you're together or you're not," Eoghan wasn't the type to beat around the bush. He hadn't risked losing Lilith once he knew he liked her, and they'd been together working on what they had ever since. Anything casual just didn't make any sense.

Lilith snorted a laugh and poked Felix's side when he teased her. She was enjoying the dance and when Felix mentioned he was there for her the prefect nodded softly. "I know and I appreciate it," she said with a smile. She did, more than she could ever express, appreciate the friendship they had rebuilt. "I am doing fine though so you needn't worry abut me, but thank you." Lilith reassured Felix, knowing he probably wanted to check up n her knowing the Holidays were coming up. If the places were rversed she would have wanted to do the same.

Mania turned her whole body to the Ravenclaw prefect this time. Crossing her arms over her front she peered up at the boy with narrowed eyes. "There's no label. We like each other and enjoy hanging out together but are in no rush to call each other boyfriend or girlfriend. It is what it is and it is between us." She was rather annoyed that the boy was trying to force a label on what it was between them. "Can we not just enjoy spending time with each other?" She challenged him.

Lilith reminded Felix of an older sister. Not Ten or Pho, because neither of them had ever looked out for him in the way an older sister should (or at least not since he'd been old enough to remember). Instead Lilith was like the sister he didn't have, the one that actually listened to him and heard him, rather than painted his face and told him when to smile. That wasn't to say if Lilith had been his sister, he wouldn't have also stolen and hidden her Hogwarts letter when it arrived as he had to Amortentia, but perhaps it would have meant that he wouldn't have felt as invisible for all those years before he'd met his friends. "I mean it, you ever need anything, anything, and I got you, okay?" Felix was looking at her quiet seriously now, not wanting her to take it as a joke, at least until he followed up his assurance, "Unless it's Quidditch. I'm not giving you Seeker tips because that cup is ours."

Eoghan ignored the fact that the tiny girl was now trying to square up to him. "Sure, there's no label," it wasn't his place to get involved, and he hadn't meant to make things more difficult to Felix for the moment his back was turned. Eoghan had to remember that Lilith was proud of him and how much he'd done this semester, but there was still a small part of him that felt a little bitter. "Just don't expect him to stick around, he's not that kind of guy."

Lilith hadn't even dared to wish finding so many friends no to mention to find friends like Felix who were there for her through thick and thin when she'd first come to Hogwarts. She was entirely too glad she'd chosen this one instead of the one in the UK because she'd gotten to meet these people. Her smile grew both in warmth and size as Felix spoke. "I know and same goes to you," He was like a brother to her and she wanted to be there for him as much as he'd been there for her. Not only in helping her look out for Leo but even now dancing with her just so she'd get to dance too. Another snort escaped Lilith a that as she rolled her eyes. "You wish, it's going to be a fun game." Lilith said grinning, she was looking forward to it.

Mania's slightly suspicious stare turned into a glare that was practically throwing daggers at Eoghan. he colour felt like it might vanish from Nia's face when he said not to expect Felix to stick around, not from anxiety of him leaving actually but annoyance. "You really think so lowly of him then, huh?" She said, feeling annoyed. "I don't know what beef you have with him but my trust in what we have isn't frail enough to be deterred by you telling me he isn't the type to stick around. For all you know I could be the one not to stick around. Not that I will, by the way." Her tone was pissed off and just looking at him was making her want to pull some hairs out. "You don't know a thing about what's happening yet you seem to already have your own assumptions. Anyhow we can now both shut back up and just watch them dance, I am done with the conversation." He better take her offer because she might bite his head off if he said one more presumptuous word.

Eoghan said nothing as the Gryffindor started ranting at him, but he rolled his eyes and did his best to turn his head away as so she didn't see it. He was only half paying attention to what she had to say. Mania didn't know any of them well enough to be able to make a call like that. "I don't have any beef, he's my friend," were the words that finally and reluctantly left his lips, "but from the evidence at hand, I'm only warning you that you're likely being used as an emotional filler. Of course you're welcome to do what you want with that information." He was a prefect, he wasn't going to be told when he had to be quiet. He'd come too far to be silenced by someone who believed they had power over him. His eyes were fixed on the couple up ahead, but his headache was growing once more.

The music may have been loud, but it wasn't so loud that Felix was oblivious to the commotion going on over by the drinks table. "Fire, fire, 3 o'clock," the Gryffindor motioned to Lilith, nodding in the direction of their partners as Nia was trying to square up to the blonde. It wouldn't take much before Nia turned into a storm although Felix would prefer to avoid such an event happening on a night like this.

Mania was trying to tune whatever this prick was saying out. Honestly how a warm and kind person like Lilith could be with a guy like this was beyond her. He didn't even make the effort to dance with the girl. Her jaw was clenching as she tried to ignore his words and she wanted to so badly urn around and kick him on the shins. Before she could stop herself she went for it, only to regret it. Instead of kicking Eoghan her kick landed on the foot of the table and the fourth year cursed in Greek. "You don't have to be so mean." She muttered to the fifth year, still wanting to kick him too but her foot just hurt now.

Eoghan's jaw was clenched so tightly that he couldn't even move when Nia managed to kick the table beside him in frustration. He was here, and that was what was important. He'd tried to warn Nia, he'd done his part. Eoghan disagreed with the way the Gryffindor called him mean. If he was mean, he would have let her continue getting further down the rabbit hole while blinded to what was really going on. That being said he did feel a little twinge of guilt, knowing that Lilith was likely to find out what he'd said about their friend.

Lilith was wrapped up in the moment when she too noticed some commotion from the side and as Felix called it out she turned to look in the right direction just in time to see Mania go for a kick. "Merlin, we need to break that up." Lilith said with her eyes wide, already moving forward pulling Felix with her. She wasn't sure what had happened but Mania had gone to kick Eoghan only her kick landed on the foot of the table and as they got closer she could hear some words that weren't English at first and then Nia was talking about someone being mean.

Hurrying after Lilith, it wasn't long before the pairs reunited. Felix hadn't seen what caused Nia to suddenly get upset, but given it was Eoghan she was talking to Felix presumed it could have been anything. He never should have left her alone with him. "Heyyy," he moved in front of Nia, pushing her back by the waist slightly, both to get between them and to see if she was hurt. "I said I'd be right back," he smiled, kissing her nose, "Are you alright?"
