Closed A Night For Four

Mania was about to fling herself at the boy again, test if her kick on the other foot could land on target when Felix suddenly appeared. She was still angry when the prefect pushed her back and his actions did very little to dull the fire inside of her, because as much as she might pretend Eoghan's words had hurt her. They had fed to that small part of her that was still waiting for the other shoe to drop and Felix to lose interest, but also it made her mad that Eoghan called Fifi his friend yet he spoke so lowly of him! "I am fine, he is just ughhh! He is mean!" Finally looking at Felix the fire simmered down a little bit and she didn't feel like punching anything. Maybe she'd just focus on him.

As Felix handled Mania Lilith walked to Eoghan. Her brows furrowed and a frown on her face she glanced her boyfriend up and down to see if he was okay. "What happened? Did you say something or was there someone else?" She asked, not sure what could have happened in the time they were gone for it to escalate so astronomically. There had to be a reasonable explanation.

Felix didn't want to speculate on what Eoghan had said to get Nia so riled up, but he could sympathise that it was easy to be annoyed by him. "I know, I know, he's a d*ckhead," Felix flashed a glare in his direction before turning back to Nia, "he's alright though. He doesn't mean it." Felix didn't quite understand how he'd gotten into the position of defending Eoghan, but given that the Ravenclaw had been helping him most of the semester, Felix didn't believe that he would intentionally try to throw anyone under the bus. "He's sh*t with people, just ignore him," Felix knew that better than most.

Suddenly Eoghan felt as though he was being interrogated as his girlfriend eyed him up suspiciously. "I didn't say anything that wasn't true," he mumbled, not wanting to peer over Lilith's shoulder to see what Felix was doing. Eoghan was feeling more sheepish than he normally did. Once again he'd managed to ruin what would and could have been a perfectly fun night.

Mania was even more convinced now that the Ravenclaw did not deserve Fifi's friendship. He was defending the boy even after the absolute bullsh*t the other boy had just said, granted he didn't know about it. "I don't know what happened between you two but he sucks and he is an assh*le and I'll try to kick him again if he says something like that again." She so would try to kick again, maybe next time she'd actually succeed.

Lilith narrowed her eyes slightly. "Then, what is true that got her in the mood to kick you?" She asked, what could he possibly have said that would have the fourth year attempting at kicking a prefect. "Are you hurt?" Lili asked soon after, he didn't seem so but best make sure he wasn't.

Felix chuckled again at the ferocity in which Nia told him she'd kick him again. So that's what that was! "Chatty B, you kick him again and I will cheer you on," he told her quietly, pulling her into a hug. "Come on, I'm sorry I left you, we can still have a good night, yeah?" Felix certainly hoped he could pull things back from the route they'd gone down.

"I just said..." Eoghan didn't want to admit it. He knew it was wrong. There was a brief pause as he was looking at Lilith, when he realised this was only going to turn into another rendition of the events of last year if they didn't just smooth things over now. "I'm sorry," Eoghan shifted past Lilith, talking to the wall of Gryffindor between him and Mania, "I'm sorry." That would be fine now, right? He turned his gaze back to Lilith, "No, I'm fine," his head was pounding but he could blank it out.

Mania frowned looking at Felix, she took a few deep breaths. She wasn't an emotional filler... Right? He wouldn't use her like that. Eoghan was just being mean, he was bad with people Felix had said. She didn't get to respond before she heard the Ravenclaw talk again and peeked past Felix to glare at him. "I am not sorry for trying to kick you," she grumbled at him.

Lilith waited for explanation that never came, instead she watched Eoghan apologize to... her? Then walk past her and apologize to Mania through Felix's back? That was a start. She wanted to know what had been said but wasn't sure how to go about asking. "What did you tell her?" She asked gently, glad to hear he wasn't hurt at least, though she was wondering if his head hurt from reading again.

It took everything Eoghan had to remain calm and composed as his girlfriend continued to question him. He wasn't even sure if Mania accepted his apology. "I just, warned her that maybe, maybe Felix wouldn't always be around. It's not like he doesn't have the history for it," his voice had gone incredibly quiet, shame taking him over in a way he wasn't used to. "I was trying to help her not get attached too quickly, that's all." It didn't really matter what he said, he knew it didn't come across any better.

Felix turned on his heels, "Can you please, stop, talking, in Finnish!" He hadn't expected himself to get so passionate about it, but the more they did it the more disrespectful it was beginning to feel, especially given they were in such close proximity and sharing the same conversations.

Lilith stared at Eoghan as he explained, her mouth falling open slightly. He hadn't! "You did not... You shouldn't have meddled in their business, we didn't want people to know about our situation for this exact reason. Because people would try to meddle with it if they knew-" Her words got cut short when Felix turned around and asked them to stop speaking in Finnish. It caught the Ravenclaw so off guard she almost jumped at it before shooting the Gryffindor an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, sometime's its an automation and I don't even realize." She tried to explain, knowing she tried her best to speak English around others but feeling bad when she slipped into Finnish.

Mania was only now realizing the other couple were speaking in a different language, one she didn't know. When Felix turned around to tell them to stop speaking in Finnish she tilted her head. "Oh that's what that was, I was trying to figure out what language it was." She said placing a hand to Felix's arm.

Lili was right, of course. They'd purposely not told anyone when they'd gotten together out of outside judgement and now here he was doing the same thing to someone else. Eoghan dropped his eyes to the floor (which was a long way away), unsure of what else he was supposed to say. He'd already told them he was sorry. To top things off, Felix was also now complaining that they were talking in their mother tongues although it didn't surprise him to know Mania had no idea what it had been. Wanting out of the situation, and feeling somewhat at a loss, Eoghan turned to find one the chairs tucked into the table, and slid himself into it.

"It's fine, it's okay," Felix rested a hand on Lilith's shoulder, "I know it happens naturally between you, I just, we shouldn't be left out either, you know?" Felix tried his best to give her a reassuring smile. As Eoghan slunk off into a seat in silence, Felix wasn't sure whether or not it was best to ask Lilith what he'd said. "Look, maybe we're just better off doing something by ourselves for the rest of the night? You two should make the most of the ball. For Merlin's sake Eoghan, dance with her!" He urged. Felix wasn't going to be around every time.

Lilith gave a soft smile to Felix and a nod. "I know and I don't want to make you feel left out," she said glancing towards Eoghan who seemed to have fund himself a chair of shame. Returning her eyes to the Gryffindor's she smiled again. "I think it is best if we do that for tonight, you two make the most of it and enjoy each others company." Lilith agreed with a nod.

Mania glanced at Eoghan who seemed to have put himself on a timeout. She then watched Felix and Lilith talk it through and agreed in silence to just spending the rest of their nights apart. Maybe that was for the best. She already felt like the guilty look on Eoghan's face was enough of an indication that perhaps what he'd said wasn't true at all. "Yeah I'm good with that, come on we can dance for a bit more Princess." She said pulling at Fifi's arm.

Felix was on the fence as to what they should be doing next, although thankfully he didn't get the chance to make the decision. He let Nia pull him away, a grin to Lilith before he turned to give the Gryffindor his full attention. "You mean to say you're not tired of it yet?" He joked, catching up to her. At least one of them had been able to take a break from the dancing.

Eoghan felt himself relax a little as Felix and Mania left them alone, perhaps how it should have been from the start. "Did you like the dancing?" Eoghan asked. He realised he'd never really seen her dance properly before, and that even though she'd managed to convince him to come to these school events, he'd never really fully participated.

Lilith gave a smile to Felix as they went off to dance, she then turned around and looked at her boyfriend sitting in the chair. Walking so she was directly in front of him she made a little space in his lap for her and sat there, brushing away some of the hairs on his forehead so she could look at his face better. "It was nice, I hadn't really thought much about the dancing during the other dances and balls for whatever reason so it was a nice change I suppose." She admitted. "Don't be too harsh on yourself about what happened with them, mistakes happen and we say things we shouldn't but the important thing is to learn from them. You should let them figure their situation out on their own the way we got to figure ours out." Just because he'd messed up with what he'd said didn't mean she was going to shame him for it, but she did hope he learned not to meddle with others relationships.

Mania grinned at Felix and looked up at him as they stopped. She placed her hands on his shoulders and shook her head. "Tired of dancing with you? Never." With a full grin on her face Nia started moving along to the music with full haphazard chaos this time. There wasn't really any true rhyme or rhythm to her movements she was more so just swaying them from side to side and grinning like a maniac because it was funny.

Eoghan was caught completely off guard as Lilith slid onto his lap. It wasn't something she'd done before nor he was expecting, but he wrapped both arms around her and peered up to give her access to his face as she began playing with his hair. It was very different, and perhaps the dancing had brought out a side of her he didn't usually see. He swallowed remorsefully as Lilith returned to the previous topic despite his attempt at changing the subject, but she surprised him again with her forgiveness. Eoghan leant forward to kiss her arm, resting his face against her as he considered what she was saying. "I thought it was a good thing," he realise quickly of course he was wrong but the intention had still been there. "I love you," Eoghan kissed her skin again, full of mixed emotions he was truly feeling quite uncomfortable with.

Felix wasn't quite sure what was going on anymore considering Nia was no longer dancing to the beat, rhythm or in time with anyone else around them, but instead of trying to fix it, the Gryffindor just joined in with whatever weird stray motions she seemed to be making. Frankly it was more about making an evening they'd remember than making a scene that others would enjoy watching. As Felix watched Nia with a grin on his face, he was looking at her with awe in his eyes. He'd had no idea that when he met her a couple of years ago in the joke shop, that she'd end up meaning this much to him. He hadn't even been sure that someone could mean this much to him. Felix continued dancing beside her, resisting the urge to sweep her off her feet there and then.

Lilith actually quite liked this new angle she had to look at Eoghan's face from. Perhaps she should sit like this more often. She smiled down at him understanding and nodding. "I mean sometimes something seems like the right thing in the moment and that's fine I am proud of you for apologizing though." She told him and felt a shiver run though her as he kissed her skin. "I love you too." It'd been a good night and it still was, minor inconveniences aside she'd had a good time.
