Adorah had never been one for dueling. She still struggled to process how she had let herself be recruited to help proctor, but here she was, trying out new things since Noel was gone for the year. The professor stood near the platform as she looked at the two young duelers and gave them a soft smile. "One of you go to that side and the other over here. You'll bow and then start. The person who wins will advance to the next round. Begin!" she said, making sure she was out of the direct line of spells - hopefully.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponent's post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitor's post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Angelo wasn't quite sure how this worked. He probably should have watched last year's. His conclusion was that this was just like class? Which was nice cause he was up against Mania, and she was pretty cool. So he bowed and then start? How was he supposed to start? Er... "Do we say ready set go?!" he asked his opponent, still bowed.

Mania was quite excited for the duels. She'd watched a few of them last year so she felt ready today. Her first opponent was Angelo, she liked him he was cool and she was pretty sure Finfin liked him and probably the other way around if she was thinking harder on it. Bowing to Angelo she heard his question and looked at the professor. "I think we bow and then start like this, Stupefy!" She explained casting the spell at him. She felt a little bad since he'd asked a question but at least she was showing him right?

"Wha- TEKA!" he yelled as he dived out of the way (more like plopped) like this was some poorly made action movie. What happened to ready set go?!

Only after seeing Angelo’s reaction did Nia’s brain start working. He’d asked if they said not if they got a ready set go (or more like Faye had read it wrong..) The second year grimaced and stared at her friend instantly feeing bad. “I’m so sorry, I heard you wrong. Are you okay Angelo?” Poor boy had asked if they could do a ready set go and she’d just fired at him like this was some drive-by.

Angelo shot his thumb up with his free hand up in the air. Phew! That was close. “I’m okeeeeeh!” he called out as he stood and dusted himself off. Well he did just do sort of a belly flop so he ached a little but he was fine otherwise. “Okay! Game!” he said jumping up and down to shake it off. “Readyyyyyy seeeeeet,” he said—this time with Mania thank god they were now in the same page! “Go! Protego!” because nuh-uh he was not going to get caught by her spell this time. HAHA

Mania stared at Angelo, a little blankly, blinking at least twice as he blocked the…. Air around him? She looked around her, a little stunned trying to figure out if she was hallucinating. “I- uh I don’t think, you are supposed to fire a spell at me and then use Protego when I fire at you.” She tried to explain. Since she had nothing to block she fired another one. “Stupefy! Now you block and then fire at me!” Hopefully he’d get a spell in, otherwise Mania would take it to herself and teach the Hufflepuff step by step later how to duel. Not that she was any better at it.

Well his plan would have worked if Mania had actually cast a spell again at Go, but since she didn't, well... no one could really fault him for being prepared! "Yeah but I can't want to wait until you actually fiiiiiireeeed-" he was still talking when he dove out of the way of her spell again! "MUHN-YUUUUUH!" he yelled her name, full thick accent coming out, as he tried to sort of crawl to get up. She fired a spell at him! Before telling him to block! He was pretty sure she didn't have this whole tutoring thing down. Maybe he really shouldn't have joined this tournament. He stood up, dusting himself off again, moving in this school uniform was really annoying so he decided to take off his school robes because it was getting real annoying—there, now it was easier to move, he said as he kicked it to the side and jumped side-to-side a little as if testing his movement. Much better. Okay. Game! "Stupefy!" It was his turn to cast anyway right? That's what she said?

This was tough. He had to watch his best friend and... whatever the hell Angelo was to him right now, duke it out. Well, it wasn't really that bad he supposed because either way he would be happy one of them won, but he wasn't sure who he was supposed to be happy for winning. Mania was clearly trying to ... teach Angelo? Maybe? He was a but confused at what was actually going on. He just kind of watched them in a stunned sort of silence.​

Mania blinked a few times, yeah she was going to have to teach Angelo properly sometime. Not in an actual dueling setting but just the two of them because this wasn't going to do. The poor boy was so lost. And was that her name the Hufflepuff just called? It had a cute sound to it in his accent, definitely one she'd never head her name said in many times before. Casting a quick shield charm, after which Nia took a moment to clap. "Good job! Now shield! Expelliarmus!" She called out to him, she didn't really care if someone out there thought it was silly of her to give instructions as they went. She wasn't about to take advantage of her friends slight confusion, she wouldn't want to win that way.

Gaia had one single duel she was interested in and that was her sister's duel. She sneaked into the lines of spectators watching as her sister was... Instructing? A Hufflepuff. What in the world was she doing? Though she supposed if anyone was going to try and help their opponent to win in a duel it'd be Nia. Blinking a few times the Slyherin tilted her head to he right at a complete loss what the hell was going on up on the platform.
