In the spirit of the school's 50th year, Angel had decided to branch out for the school's club fair this year. Maybe a little literally.

He'd relocated the standard club booths out onto the lawn for the afternoon and then taken it upon himself to transfer the section of grass into a proper native grove. Ferns brushed at his ankles and the sky overhead was a canopy of red pōhutukawa flowers and bright yellow kōwhai. Bees were already buzzing around the scraggly mānuka trees and tūī had begun gathering around the native flax, their distinctive song adding a nice soundtrack in the quiet before the students began browsing the booths. Angel had taken to hanging a series of magical lights and streamers from the winding pōhutukawa boughs to complete the atmosphere before settling himself back on his customary lounger to get comfortable in case anyone needed him.

Lucy was excited, and a little sad, that this would be her last year as the music maestro for the Conglomerated Arts Club. She’d put in hard work to help keep the club going - not to say the least for her organising the Talent Showcase last year. She'd been surprised to hear that the location had moved, but very pleased about it. She loved the outdoors and Professor Castillo had done a great job decorating, if she was being honest. In a good mood, with the atmosphere of spring about her, she had set up her spot. Photographs of the stage and the showcase’s performers had been put up (with their consent, of course) as well as a banner that she’d gotten help making in rainbow colours and glitter, spelling out: Conglomerated Arts Club. One of the club members had made stunningly decorated cupcakes with iced imitations of kōwhai (a rather unfriendly Slytherin), and Lucy diligently displayed them alongside some of the remaining stickers from her previous years. They were stickers of paintbrushes, sculptures, drama masks, and musical instruments - a variety of options for the aspiring artist of any sort. Lucy gave a wave to Audrey before sitting down behind her set-up booth and waited for prospective students to join.

Audrey was very pleased Professor Castillo was for one, back, and for another, had set up the club fair out on the lawn as opposed to the courtyard. It was a beautiful spring day (perhaps not for anyone with hay fever) and Audrey appreciated the chance to wear her nice wide brimmed witches' hat and oversized sunglasses. They were more cosmetic than actually sunblocking, but it didn't bother her. She felt especially glamorous, and she was excited to have the reins of Heta Omega this year. Audrey had never had siblings, but now she was the school's big sister. And this year, she was determined to be supportive. Helpful. Not get too annoyed by idiocy.

That last bit would take some doing, but it was worth it to try - not least because it was exactly the kind of revenge she ought to enact upon her parents.

Audrey was impressed by how stunning the Arts Club booth was, though of course Lucy had designed it. Audrey may not have been as artistically minded, but she tried her best to make it pretty. She'd decorated the booth with photos from previous years as well. She had set up a nice backdrop of dark blue tulle decorated with gold stars (along with the photos). It was a bit more 'witchy' than 'girly', though she'd put a couple of posters up of strong witches with a few girl power slogans to get the idea across. She had gold star shaped lollipops there to give out, one of which she was sucking on as she got comfortable at the booth. The gold stars would be explained in the first meeting, but she hoped it would maybe inspire some interest. A couple of sheets of parchment were on the table with some quills for signups, and she fiddled with a bracelet on her wrist as she waited to see who would come over.

Victoria had been over the moon when she had heard about the club fair. There were clubs. Great. She had difficulties sitting still sometimes so joining a few clubs to make sure she stuff to do couldn't hurt. Plus, it'd be an easy way to meet new people and have new experiences. She glanced around for a second and considered her choices for a second. Arts, kind of cool. Girls club, even cooler. Something with plants, maybe? Deciding to head for the things she was sure she would enjoy first, Vic made her way over to the girls club table. "Hi." She greeted the girl behind the table. "What sort of stuff do you guys do?" She questioned curiously, already sliding one of the sheets towards herself so she could sign up. @Audrey Beauchamp

Ten had mixed feelings about leading the Wild Patch. On the one hand, she was ecstatic, because obviously she was the best choice. She was one of the oldest students, and had plants and flowers had been a large part of her life since before she'd even come to Hogwarts. She already had some great ideas for the club and things she could demonstrate to the younger students, and she even had a little experience of leading in her repertoire too. That being said, Ten had only been in the club for two years, after an unfortunate incident of being misunderstood at another club fair in her fourth year had resulted in her being banned from joining entirely. Now the club wanted her leading it? How the tables had turned. She'd been right all along, they needed her, and while she wasn't so naïve to think bragging about it would help the situation, Ten wouldn't deny that she was feeling somewhat vindicated.

The Wild Patch, in Ten's opinion, was more than just pretty flowers. Plants had such an important role to play in magic that students seemed to overlook their powers. As a result, the Gryffindor had decided to make and give out a very specific gift to students that joined the club this year. Small jars hung from long chains, and inside the jars she'd crushed a variation of Rosemary and Mugwort together, topping it off with a tiny cork stopper. The prefect was proceeding to hand out the long necklaces to those who came to the clubs stall. "Both of these are excellent for inspiration and creativity," she was explaining, "keep it close and you'll find your energy is boosted, especially if you're the type of person who's trying to do well in class," She was hardly a straight O student herself, but she certainly knew enough students who were. "Plants can be useful, as well as pretty," Ten often referred to her own plants as her friends too, although she didn't expect everyone else to understand that.

Lumos had taken a leaf out of Teddy's book from last year and there were pictures of their successes within the club combined games. He'd left out the bludger bash defeat from last year and the musical chairs, but he wasn't going to admit that either, so he was happy to just add the tug of war there. He didn't think it was really a competition between the two, but he supposed it depended on who else was in the Heta group. The girls had done well, he could openly admit it. He also had a couple of quizzes that people could do just for some fun and then he had some muffins and cupcakes that Jonah, sat beside him, had happily volunteered to make for today. He could see Angel not far away and he wasn't about to mess up on his first day as the President of the Brotherhood.

Honestly he hadn't been surprised when Teddy had backed out, he'd been going through a lot lately and if the whole scandal of his last duel last year was any indication, he probably had a lot on his plate, but Lumos wasn't here to judge his former mentor, he was just proud that he'd picked him to take over the club. He liked Teddy, so he wasn't going to pretend he hadn't been something of a role model to him. Not to mention his dad seemed to like him well enough, even if Veronica and him seemed to have gotten off on the wrong foot. From what he knew, they were on better terms now, but he hadn't really spoken to Veronica about it. Bailey didn't really seem to have much of an opinion on any of it, but they all kind of knew that Veronica was the instigator of the whole thing.

"Please take a muffin or a cupcake if you want one, and we have some fun quizzes to play with if you want, that are just your general knowledge and stuff you might be interested in!" He pointed to the sign up sheet, "put your name here if you want to become a brother and if you have any questions please let me know!"

Natsuko headed out to the great lawn, enjoying the spring weather. She'd heard about the club fair but didn't really know what it was all about. What sort of clubs would a magical school have? Clubs about magic, surely. She wandered around the stalls, getting progressively more disappointed as she looked around. It seemed a bit...boring. She enjoyed the free snacks though, taking a cupcake from the conglom...the glom-glom arts club or whatever it was, and biting into it as she moved onwards. A wild patch club. Like flowers? Or vegetables? What was magical about that? The girl behind the stall seemed to be talking about mugwort or something in a jar. Weird. She finally stopped at the weird club that was a sorority? Was that a magic word? She liked the actual witchy vibe the girl there had. There was another girl there too, who looked about Natsuko's age. Natsuko caught what she was saying and nodded, indicating that she would like to know what the club did too.

Apolline had been given a lot of information by Fraser on how to run the accio yearbook. She had thought she could manage it fine, but being left alone to figure it out, that certainly, that was proving to be a lot. She knew though that this would be easiest. She was looking for her replacement, even though she had two years left, and at least one other member of the team was going to be replaced. She set up the accio stall and just waited for students to appear.

Ulric felt uncomfortable walking into the club fair. He had met a few people already but he still felt quite lonely. Joining a club should help with that but it seemed so overwhelming. It didn't help when he saw his brother at one of the tables and he immediately walked in the other direction. When he saw a girl at a table full of what looked like potion jars he went right to it. "Hello, what club is this?" he asked calmly although his eyes were darting all around taking it all in. "Is that.....rosemary and....mugwart in there?" he asked now that he was close enough to see the contents of the jars better. @Amortentia Layton

The stall seemed a little quiet, although Ten tried not to consider that was because she was the one behind it. She was however very pleased when one of the newest students came over to her, although she was caught off guard by the fact he seemed to know what was in the tiny jar. "You know your plants?" Ten eyed up with first year with intrigue, immediately seeing a lot of herself in him, or at least back when she was his age. "This is the Wild Patch," she continued, shaking her hair a little out of her face and standing a little straighter with pride. "We grow plants, more so than you will in Herbology, anyway." Just because there was a subject dedicated to the topic, didn't mean that was all there was to know.

As soon as Sofia heard about the Club Fair, she knew this would be the perfect opportunity to try and make friends outside of her housemates. She was impressed with the fair set up around on the lawn and all the booths with various goodies to pick up. Although she was intimidated by all the older students also looking to join clubs, she had to admit a few caught her attention. She lingered between two booths, unsure if she could join more than one and if she couldn't, which one she should choose.

She bit her lip in contemplation as she looked over at the Wild Patch Club booth, intrigued by the necklaces with a tiny bottle, but she resolved to stop by the Heta Omega booth first to get a couple of questions answered. Sofia only had brothers so she was interested in the idea of a sisterhood, but was mostly curious what they did. "Hi," she greeted the older girl, and then also spared a shy smile at the Gryffindor beside her, glad that she asked one of the questions already on her mind. Since the other girl had already asked one of her questions, Sofia decided to ask the other thing on her mind, hoping the older girl wouldn't take offense to it and think she wasn't interested. "Are we allowed to join more than one club?" @Audrey Beauchamp

Eoghan wasn't entirely sure how to run a whole club, but he was glad that at least he had someone experienced with him to show him how. He'd been writing for the school paper for years and so would have been more than happy to answer any questions from those looking to join, and was curious to see how many would be joining them for the upcoming semester. The Hogwarts Monthly stall had been set up with a number of the previous editions laid out as examples of what they'd be working on, but they'd also brought with them a few notebooks and pens, each one with the four different houses so that members coming to sign up could take start taking notes for their articles and events. Eoghan had already pocketed a Ravenclaw notebook and pen, the blue and silver pairing very well with the rest of his attire. Students may not have been accustomed to carrying note taking materials with them on a daily basis, but they'd certainly be useful to have for anyone who enjoyed writing, taking interviews or planning communications. Eoghan glanced to his more experienced co-editor, waiting to see who would approach them.

Juniper had liked the clubs she'd participated in so far but she'd also wanted to join another one so she awkwardly weaved her way through the vast amount of students toward the one stall she was looking for. Staring at the two older students seemingly in charge of the school paper. "I- e-excuse me um so how can I join the club?" Juniper asked nervously fidgeting with her sleeves. Her eyes wandering from the two students to anywhere else.

@Miranda Dawes @Eoghan Blyth

Maggie had decided to actully sign up for the Student Defense Association this year. She'd been dueling for the last two, and it made sense for her to actually join the club so she could practice and maybe eventually win, even if that meant having to defeat half the people in her year. For some reason, her year was really into dueling. She walked up to the guy at the table and looked around. "Can I sign-up somewhere?" she asked him. @Osiris Vale

Eloise had enjoyed the clubs that she was in. She liked participating in things, especially in areas she knew she could help. The Hufflepuff knew that maybe she might have joined a couple of clubs already that took a bit of her plate, but she didn't mind if she was being honest. She liked to keep herself busy. Something that wasn't related to her love of bugs and plants. Eloise entered the club fair, looking around for anything that might intrigue her. She grinned when she saw the yearbook stall. The yearbook was something that had interested Eloise, though she wasn't the best when it came to the photography side of things, but she did wonder if there were other aspects to the yearbook than the photography side of things. The Hufflepuff made her way to the yearbook stall, having a wee look around of the stall before looking at the older girl. "Hi! Are there any ways to help with the yearbook that isnt photography related?" Eloise asked excitedly, hoping to maybe help in anyway she could.

@Apolline Fontaine

Oliver knew it was probably a good idea to be part of a club or two. The problem was deciding which club he wanted to join. There were many options if he was being honest. Ollie walked into the club fair, looking around for any club that fancied him. He knew he definitely wasn't going to sign up for the hogwarts monthly. That sounded like a lot of work he didn't wanna participate in, and it also sounded boring. Plants didn't really interest him, so that was also out of the question. He then saw the club for the boys, and he knew that his brother was part of that club, so he guessed it wouldn't hurt to sign up for that one. The new Gryffindor made his way to the boy club stall, looking around at the cool stall before turning to the older boy. "Hey, so uh, where do I sign up?" Ollie says with a grin.

@Lumos Walden-Cade

Knox walked around the Club Fair looking for something that would catch his interest, but he was a little disappointed there wasn't a card collecting club or even a chess club to join. He had no creative talent so he couldn't sign up for the Conglomerated Arts club, the paper, or the yearbook, so his options were getting slimmer and slimmer.

His interested was piqued by the Brotherhood table, firstly because there were cupcakes he could eat, and secondly because the photos showed rather fun events to do. He took a cupcake as the leader of the club encouraged and took a bite of it, getting frosting on his nose in the process. "So what do you guys do in this club?" he asked, looking for an explanation of the photos. He wipe his face to try and clean himself off but immediately took another bite of his cupcake afterward waiting for an answer. @Lumos Walden-Cade

Ulric gave a quick nod when she said he knew his plants. He did. "Yes.", was all he said to that and he listened as she explained the club. It sounded perfect for him and he quickly wrote down his name. "Thank you." he added before grabbing one of the bottles and sticking it in his pocket. As he walked away he looked at the other clubs. The SDA did seem interesting but there was no way he wanted to be involved while his brother was in charge so he continued to keep his distance and approached the Brotherhood. For him brotherhood didn't evoke exactly positive emotions but he knew it was likely a good place to at least try and make friends. But not today. He saw a few other boys hovering near by and he ducked in quickly to sign his name before walking away. @Amortentia Layton @Lumos Walden-Cade

Rosalind knew she was perhaps too old to really go to the club fair, but she had a purpose. Over the break, she'd decided not only was she a reader, she was a writer. Maybe not poetry, that had fallen flat, but she could write other stuff. She approached the Hogwarts Monthly stall with a smile on her face, trying not to step on any first years. "Hi, I know I'm kind of old to be doing this but I wanted to join. Is that okay?" Rosalind asked.
@Eoghan Blyth @Miranda Dawes

Violet knew she should probably attend the club fair and help out, especially now that she was vice president of heta. She didn't have much else to do anyway and she also wanted to get an idea of the new faces that would potentially be joining them, as she really wasn't one for surprises. Walking past the spectacular display at the Conglomerated Arts table, Violet headed straight towards the table that Audrey had set up for Heta. There were already many girls there surrounding the table and asking questions. A Gryffindor asked what stuff they did, and not knowing what the plan was for that year, Violet decided to let Audrey answer that question, and answered the Hufflepuff's question instead. "Yes, of course you can join more than one club. I'm part of 2." she said matter-of-factly, hoping that she was being somewhat helpful to Audrey by being there.
@Audrey Beauchamp @Sofia Gutierrez

Aiya quite enjoyed her time outdoors, especially on days that it wasn't raining. She wandered out to the great lawn, stopping in her tracks as she realised that an event was going on. It was the club fair, and Aiya forgot to attend last year's one and so didn't bother joining any clubs, but she probably figured that it would be a good idea to at least take a look at them, and maybe she could make some friends and potentially this could make her father happy.

As Aiya took a look at all the stalls, she frowned as she realised nothing was really perking her interest. Aiya wasn't too good at art, unless one would consider doing makeup an art, and there was no way that Aiya was going to join a defence association. Anything physical was definitely off her list. The girl club seemed okay, however she didn't consider herself particularly girly and so wasn't sure how much she would have in common with them.

When Aiya saw the jars of greenery hanging from chains, this piqued her interest. She found herself walking over there, and an older Gryffindor girl stood behind the display. "What is this? Is this a plant growing inside a jar? How does it receive adequate air and moisture?" she asked curiously.

@Amortentia Layton

Miranda had left a few of the old issues she wanted to bring with her in her mother's office as the two of them had been going over old papers for a feature article. As such, she was running late for the fair. To add insult to injury, she'd gone to the courtyard only to forget it was moved to the lawn. The lawn was a nice change, but she had to move a little further and was short of breath by the time she actually made it. She was frazzled setting things up at the table but did her best to get back on track.

Taking a sip of water, she smiled at the students who walked up to the table. She was the older editor now, it was her job to be wise and experienced. "Oh, welcome! Here's our sign up sheet, just write your name down here and we'll let you know as soon as we have our first meeting!" The young girl was nervous, so Miranda wasn't going to put her on the spot too much. A girl who she vaguely recognised as a Gryffindor, possibly in fourth or fifth year, asked to join and Miranda nodded. "Never too old to join in! We'd love to have you on board." She was channeling her father more than her mother at this point, but that was a better point of reference for the whole being nice to people thing.

@Juniper Veritas @Rosalind Montgomery

It was nice to be out on the grounds after a rather wet winter, though Amanita swore she could still feeling her shoes getting wet as tramped out across the lawn. She'd kind of hoped Dad would have asked her for help with setting the whole club fair thing up; she knew she didn't really have a reason to help, and she'd been the one to ask for no special treatment, but it felt nice to be involved in school things instead of wandering into the midst of the stalls like any other first year.

Speaking of the other first years, Amanita tried to gauge what the others she could recognize were up too, rolling her eyes seeing Ollie and Ulric signing up for some boys club and making a beeline for the opposite girls club too.

"You signing up? Yay, me too," Amanita said, happy to see Natsuko already at the booth, listening to one of the older girls there. "I have a little sister already so I'm well practiced at this sisterhood stuff," she joked, signing her name on the sign up sheet.

@Audrey Beauchamp @Natsuko Hirano

Audrey was relieved that Violet was there to help, because Heta Omega was often quite popular. She paused at the young girl's question, thinking about the best way to explain it. She had thought about it, of course, she wasn't going in completely unprepared. "It's first of all a safe hangout space for girls in the school," she explained, remembering the points she'd decided on. "If you join the sisterhood, you'll always have sisters to turn to if you need anything. Like if you need someone to talk to but don't want to go to a professor or write to your parents or something. Or if you're having trouble with one of your classes and don't get what the professor's saying. Or just want to complain." Audrey spoke as though that had ever been something she'd used, when it wasn't like she really had that for herself. But she had written a lot of kind of generic slogans in her notebook, and the one that stuck out for Heta was be the change you want to see in the world. Her dad was always about beating competitors down, but after the duel Audrey was more and more convinced that was not the best way to to do things. Even if a lot was just her trying to will herself to be 'good'. "Oh, and before school dances we'll help you all get dressed up if you need. But yeah, then later you get to be a big sister to the new students after you and help them out."

"In the last few years we've had competitions with the brotherhood but this year I want to just focus on how awesome we are as witches."
She grinned, feeling extremely proud of herself for her planning. It had been in part because she didn't want to give Teddy any opportunity to cheat and belittle her and her girls, though now Teddy wasn't even leading the Brotherhood. "Sooooo we're gonna do things like setting goals and hyping each other up when we smash 'em. It'll be great, we'll have fun, and it won't take up a whole lot of your time 'cause you should try out a bunch of different things here and work out what you like." She was chatting away, but she was making sure to get the signed up names together.

@Victoria Barron @Natsuko Hirano @Sofia Gutierrez @Amanita Castillo

Peregrine would be lying if she said she wasn't disappointed by what had happened with the Quidditch team. It was probably a sign that she just wasn't good enough, but it didn't mean it didn't feel bad. She reasoned that she needed something different to focus on as an outlet for her emotions. The paper was good, but she wanted to do something a little more active on the side. A little shyly, she found herself wandering to the arts club stand at the club fair, feeling a little too old to be attending but figuring it was better to go now then not at all.

"Wow," Peregrine started, looking around at the stand in awe. "Your booth is really, really nice." She realised a little belatedly it was the head girl at the booth, and her face reddened a little. Lucy seemed really cool and sophisticated and smart. She had to be, since she was head girl and all. Though she was a little disappointed by Teddy, with the whole Quidditch thing. "Um, do you do, er, plays and things like that?" she asked, shyly picking up a cupcake. "And it is okay if I join even if I'm not in first year?"

@Lucy Montague
