Horror Zhefarovich decided to ask for a co-captain because he took up another position in the school. He was co-leader of the Student Defence Association. He didn't care who he was leading it with, but he knew what his limitations were. And he wanted more time to work on his NEWTs as well. So, after getting the flyers and the bulletin board updated, Horror made it to the pitch earlier than expected. He tapped the clipboard as others arrived, and once it was time, he started to speak. "This is my last year here. Vanity is my co-captain now. Returning players, just help the recruits. There are more bludgers and snitches out there. If you don't know what to do or how to play, then leave. So, get to it." Horror was as blunt as he always was, and expected everyone to know how to try out.

Returning players, just post a quick one to keep your place. Alternates will have to try out again. And new players will. Just 1 post! Any questions, feel free to reach out!

It was disappointing that Terror had already graduated the previous year. He had been the fun chaser in the team. It was even more disappointing however to know that Mettlestone was made co-captain. Eurydice's beef with two Slytherins had easily become known once her cousin had finally spilled the beans to Mikael. And while Sayuri had never been particularly close to Eurydice, that did not mean she liked and tolerated it when other people targeted her family. It was disappointing enough that Mettlestone was a prefect. And so, since she didn't really have anything better to do today, Sayuri decided to help the hopefuls by aiming quaffles at their heads passing quaffles, and if she would fly just a little too close to Mettlestone every now and then, it was purely coincidental. Well, surely since she was made Quidditch co-captain, she should be at least this good on a broom.

Vanity had been surprised to be asked for co-captain, but also pleased. She didn’t particularly like Horror or anything, but she didn’t dislike him either. He announced to the team that she was going to be co-captain, then started the tryouts. Vanity didn’t have a speech prepared or anything, but still was a little put out she didn’t really get a moment to say something. She just nodded confidently, then took to the air to participate in the tryouts. She noticed Sayuri occasionally flying close to her, which was annoying. Had the girl’s steering always been this bad?

Sage wasn't completely sure why she'd decided to get involved in this. But she wanted an outlet and this school didn't really seem to have a lot of options. After a break of getting into morning runs and trying to build up her strength, she found herself on the pitch. The captain seemed to be fairly straight forward. Once they were set loose, Sapphire took to the air. She was determined, and she didn't let up. She had a lot of room for improvement- she could hit, hard, but her aim wasn't great yet, and the bludgers only seemed to go where she wanted them to every third hit. Still, she kept at it, not letting up until the tryouts were called. She landed on the ground, wobbling a bit but keeping her feet. She was drenched and her arms felt like jelly, but she was satisfied that at the very least she'd given it her all.

Sunny was less than thrilled to see Vanity as co-captain when she turned up for tryouts and wondered if it might be problematic for resuming her own spot as alt beater. She didn't really care about the team politics, or Quidditch particularly, but she did absolutely love mercilessly whacking bludgers at people, in particular Ignatius and Vanity, which naturally was part of the problem. She listened to Horror's speech then said, "Sunny Day, returning as alt beater." She swung her beaters bat under one arm to grip the broom and flew up to whack bludgers at people. Once in the air she moved her bat into whacking position and swung at a bludger, she absolutely loved that cracking noise her bat made when it made solid contact. She had good aim after lots of training over the last couple of years too. She managed to aim some good hits on players as they were trying out for their own positions. Her own arm ached by the end of tryouts from swinging the bat so much but she thought that must be a good sign.

Enoch stood on the pitch, just wanting to get started. He didn't care about the new people who could be on the team, he just waited until he was allowed to fly up into the air and then launched himself into the air. quickly settling into the practice.

Alana was hoping for a better season than her previous ones, she was determined to bring home the trophy for Slytherin that season and hoped her teammates and captains were just as dedicated. Alana waited with her teammates for the try-outs to start and would help out where she could.

Echo had been waiting until she was old enough to try out for the team. She may have liked to look good, wear her hair and nails in elaborate styles, and preferred to be neat over anything messy, but that for the most part went completely out the window if she got stuck into some competition.

"My names Echo, I want to try out for Chaser." She knew she'd be one of the youngest, but it would only mean that by the time she was one of the older students, she'd have a great deal of skill on her back. Echo also wasn't as tall as most of the other students and she fully intended to use that to her advantage.

Once in the air, she was quick to fly in line with the other chasers, just in case they needed to pass to her. After a while the quaffle was thrown back out onto the pitch after a successful block and Echo knew this was her time to shine. She darted forward on her broom, grabbing the ball and tucking it under her arm before turning 180 degrees in the air and flying off the other direction. Bludgers came her way but she managed to dodge them, dropping high and low as needed. Once shed reached the hoops, Echo threw the ball as hard as she could, pretending the hoops was her little brothers head, and watched as it sailed straight through. Echo continued to help the other chasers score too, passing as often as she could.

"Hope that was okay!" She told the captains once she'd returned to the ground, before taking a seat to watch the rest of the tryouts.
