Sawyer didn't exactly consider himself the most competitive person; Quidditch had always been more about having fun and something to do than anything else (at least until he'd gotten his captain's badge perhaps), but even he could admit that finishing his final year at school and on the team in dead last like last year wouldn't feel great. Now he just had to convince himself of that enough to hopefully rile up the team into some sort of winning state.

"Uh, hey guys," Sawyer greeted the team, patting down his green hair and frowning as it stuck to his forehead in the light rain that was falling this morning. "Little wet out but nothing we can't handle, I'm sure. Let's just get back in the air today and try to get back up to speed with our new members," he said, nodding especially to Rory and Lillian. "And speaking of, Lillian if I can get you playing seeker for today, just to see how it feels, I don't think it'll hurt to have some back up this season," Sawyer said, swinging a leg over his own broom, mind lingering over the fierce beaters on several of the other house teams. "Everyone else, Chasers, let's try to keep up the momentum, keep the quaffle moving at all times, beaters, gonna be three seekers to aim for so trade off offense and defence as you see fit. Okay," He took a breath before blowing his whistle and kicking the gear trunk open, releasing the balls and tossing the quaffle under his arm into the air.

OOCOut of Character:
Let's just get right into practice!

Michael was a little surprised to actually be on the starting lineup, but he very much appreciated it. He had packed a cricket bat and tennis racquet with him to do some ground practice at aiming, bur was glad to get the proper training in too. Considering how the last games had gone, he needed to get quick hits in. And after giving Sawyer a thumbs up, he headed straight into the air and was pleased to see he hit the first bludger he came across, aiming away to start but watching as it veered off and hit @Xiuying Huang.

Bludger Hits
1x Xiuying Huang

Sawyer had barely made it to the hoops before he saw Michael already knock a bludger into Xiuying, letting out a low whistle as it made impact. Hopefully that boded well for their season.

Michael was slightly encouraged by the good start, but the next bludger he came across jolted awkwardly and he didn't get his bat to it.

Branson grabbed the quaffle and began heading towards the hoops.

Val was sure anyone else would've been frustrated by still being an alternate when a younger team member was the non-alternate, but Val was happy, all of the fun and interactions with still zero pressure. She was still on the team. So it worked. It helped that immediately upon being in the air, the other boy managed to hit a bludger immediately where Val failed but she was pretty happy to just keep trying.

Michael wasn't having much luck, in reality.

Xiuying had just flown into the air when she was smacked by a bludger almost immediately. She put a thumbs up to show that she was okay, before slowly catching up to Branson who had the quaffle.

When Branson was close he threw the ball really happy to watch it go in. He felt that was a good way to start practice.

Michael looked around for bludgers, giving a cheer when Branson scored.

Valeria spotted a bludger heading towards herself, and managed to it away and even better, managed to hit it towards the captain, where it hit.

1x Xiuying Huang
1x Sawyer Carnahan

Xiuying cheered when her teammate scored a goal. Xiuying got a hold of the quaffle when it was thrown back and circled around the pitch to make her way towards the hoops.

Hamish arrived to practice with the others, and determined to do better this year, took off into the air and began his search.

Lily was glad she had made the team somehow. She didn't matter which position and she was eager to learn more. Curious about which position was the best for her. Lillian smiled when she arrived at the pitch and looked around. Then she mounted her broom and was of. Looking for the illusive golden ball.

When Xiuying was close enough to the hoops, the threw the ball towards the hoops and cheered when it sailed through the hoops.

Sutton was happy to get the notice that they would have a Ravenclaw practice today. She wouldn't say it aloud but they certainly needed it after the previous year. She joined her teammates on the Quidditch Pitch, smiling at the new additions. There was not much time to talk though. They went right to work. Sutton swung her leg over the broom and lifted off into the air. It seemed almost right away that a bludger came in her direction. She swung hard, hitting it in a random direction. She had to work on her aim this year.

Maybe the first hit was a fluke, Michael thought, taking a deep breath and trying to readjust after one bludger just barely missed his arm.

Rory had been surprised when he found he had been given a place on the quidditch team as a regular start, not as an alternate. His head was filled with doubts as to whether he was ready for it or not but nonetheless he would give his all. He made his way onto the pitch for practice and after an introductory speech from the captain, practice got underway. Rory followed everything closely and after one of the other chasers successfully scored he swooped down to grab it after it was thrown back into play and made his way towards the other hoops to try and score himself.

After Xiuying scored, Branson followed behind the casual who caught the ball

Valeria failed to hit the next bludger she'd been aiming for.

With the quaffle in hand Rory flew closer to the hoops and threw it in an attempt to score but it was easily saved by the keeper.

Branson gave a little thumbs up to the kid who had just joined the chasers. He hadn't managed to score but that would come. Branson grabbed the ball when it was tossed back out and headed towards the hoops.

Valeria failed to hit the next bludger she was aiming for.
