Liusaidh didn't really want to share this with anyone else, but given that Ruben apparently wasn't feeling well and wasn't able to do this, so she was being made to do it. Liusaidh didn't want more responsibility but she clearly was the only person worthy of it, not just that she was one of the oldest ones to be able to do it. The slytherin was on the quidditch pitch and glanced at the people who were here to tryout. "Right, tell me who ye are and what position and then get tae it," she told them all sharply, she hated that she was having to be responsbile and do things, but she would pick a winning team.

OOCOut of Character:
Out of Character:Welcome to tryouts! For those unfamiliar with how this works, please begin by having your character state their name and the position they're trying out for, followed by RPing them trying out in that position.

Returning team members listed above must post attendance at tryouts to retain their positions, returning alternates must try out again.

First years may not try out without first PMing me for permission, no first years will be allowed to try out unless there are not enough older students to fill the team.

After the disaster that had been last year's Quidditch season, Celia was looking forward to a fresh start. This would be the year Slytherin got the Quidditch cup back, and she was ready to bludgeon anyone who got in the way of that goal. Broom in hand, Celia made her way to the pitch and started to push through the group of try-out hopefuls to reach the rest of the team, a smug sense of superiority radiating off of her. She was feeling rather pleased that she wouldn't have to go through the tryout process again; she'd already secured her spot for the next five years.

What she saw at the front of the group made her stop dead in her tracks. "No freaking way," Celia muttered under her breath. Liusaidh? Liusaidh was leading tryouts? Who had put her in charge? Ruben? Styx? It must've been the latter. The old man had clearly gone senile, as evidenced by the fact that he'd also given the girl a prefect badge. Hopefully this change in leadership was temporary. Celia couldn't imagine having to attend practices led by Liusaidh. The older girl might have been an adequate Quidditch player, but Celia was less sure about her leadership skills.

When it was time, Celia took to the air and immediately chased after a bludger. She hadn't been able to practice over the break, and she was determined to shake off the rust. As she batted bludgers towards the other players, she wondered if it was bad form to send someone to the hospital during tryouts. And then she decided that anyone who ended up in the hospital wing during a simple tryout session didn't deserve a spot. It was better to weed out the weak now. Celia continued to fly around the pitch, aiming mostly for seekers and beaters. She was curious to see who would end up taking the open beater spot.

Seamus had waited to try-out, he'd been jealous of his brother managing to get on the team already but only because he hadn't been able to try. Now he was old enough and he wanted to try so he'd come to the pitch. He wasn't sure if he'd been expecting the girl, he'd thought a boy was doing it, but the girl didn't even offer any explanation, just getting them to be start. He somewhat nervously ended up at the front of the line and said, "Seamus, Beater,"

Seamus got his beater bat and then flew up into the air. He adjusted his bat and then focused on chasing the bludgers. He flew with a practiced ease, his focus sharp, he'd always managed to do well in sports and he was able to easily slip into the mindset. He hit his bludger and realised that if he got this position he would have to hit Hamish with one and he wasn't too sure he could do that...but he would have to. he was pretty decent with his bludger hits, they were mostly on target, some went a little wide and some he missed, but he felt he'd made a decent shot of it. had managed to hit enough things to feel relatively proud of himself. He needed to work on how hard he hit, though some were on target he could tell that he lacked power and he needed to slow down to hit, which did slow him down overall, but he would get better at those with time he was sure. Seamus then flew down to the ground and hoped he'd done enough. Perhaps too that fact he was scottish and the fact the possible captain or sub captain was scottish might improve his chances.

Ares had been waiting for this moment ever since he set foot into Hogwarts. The teen wasn't too familiar with the Quidditch teams at Hogwarts, but he knew that he wouldn't be anywhere near content at the school if he wasn't part of one. He knew he would be better than half the people that were trying out, and so confidently made his way onto the quidditch pitch where the tryouts were being held. He had obviously practiced during the break, and had even tried hitting some bludgers, which had really helped him get his anger out. The beater position would be a good position to try out for as well, as it was another position where he was doing his job with someone else by his side. Better yet, the audience paid less attention to the beaters than the chasers and Ares wasn't sure why he didn't think of the beater position any sooner.

Ares gathered around with the rest of the people trying out, smirking a little at the second years that thought they had a better shot than him. There was no way they were going to get a position over him. When Ares saw that a beater position was free, he couldn't help but feel excited for it, and knew that it was going to be for him. He lined up with the others, and when he made it to the front he spoke to the captain. "Ares. Trying out for beater, but I am also an excellent chaser. Was one of the best on the Beauxbatons team." Ares bragged. He felt as though it was an important thing for her to know. After all, she would need to know what she was missing out on if she decided not to choose him over anyone else.

Ares shot up into the sky quickly with a beater's bat in hand. He watched the younger Slytherin who was the other beater on the team. He was sure he could do better than her. When a bludger came his way, he swung his bat as hard as he could, hitting it and watching as it flew straight across the pitch. He wasn't aiming for anything, but he knew that he should if he wanted the captain to see how good he was. When another bludger came his way, he swung even harder this time, aiming for one of the smaller chasers. He didn't care if they were sent to the hospital wing. After all, it was all part of the game. Ares had a few good shots, hitting players on the pitch easily. He definitely had the hang of the beater position, didn't miss one at all, and had quite enjoyed his time hitting bludgers that came his way.

When Ares had enough of the bat, he resorted to picking up a quaffle and taking it into the skies with him. He wanted to show the captain how good he was at being a chaser too, just in case she didn't think he was good enough yet. He flew as fast as he could around the pitch, the quaffle tucked neatly underneath his arm. He dodged bludgers, making it to the far north side of the pitch and taking a shot at the right hoop. It sailed right through, and when Ares collected the quaffle back, he made his way to the other side of the pitch, this time pretending he was going for the right when really he was going for the left. It left the keeper confused, and Ares smirked as that shot also went through. There was not one that he missed.

At the conclusion of the tryouts, Ares made it easily back onto the ground, confident that he showed the captain enough to earn himself a good position on the team.

Lucie always looked forward to another year of quidditch, and she was interested in seeing who the new people were that were trying out for the team. She made her way to the pitch where the tryouts were held, looking around at all of the new faces. When Liusaidh instructed everyone to begin and head to the skies, Lucie did so, making her way to the hoops so she could block any shots. There were a couple of people trying out for chaser, and Lucie tried her best blocking every shot that came her way. When the tryouts ended, Lucie headed back down and back to the castle.

Indi was more than an little shocked and confused to see it was Liusaidh who was giving them instructions. She kept her face neutral and wondered if her conversation with Celia last year had some how caused this to happen. She knew it was a ridiculous thought but it was still unsettling and while she knew she was only a fourth year she couldn't help but think she'd be able to do a better job. But she took to the air with the rest of the team and managed to get ahold of the quaffle a few times and even scored a couple points. She was pleased with herself but the time it was all over and was curious to see what kind of changes might happen to the line up this year.

Natalia was starting to get a bit frustrated with her position on the team. She was still an alternate after being on the team for years. She knew it was probably just because the positions were full, but it was frustrating. She considered changing her position, but chaser was what she knew and what she was good at. She also doubted her parents would approve of her playing as beater. She was surprised to see Liusaidh running the tryouts, she wondered if that would work in her favor or not.

Natalia waited for her turn, then spoke. "I'm Natalia Novak, and I'm trying out for chaser, but I can play seeker or keeper too." With that, the girl took to the air. Thankfully, it didn't take long for her to get her hands on the quaffle, and she flew over to the hoops. Her first attempt to score was blocked, but she managed to grab the quaffle again soon after and scored that time. Natalia scored twice more, and then landed back on the ground. She didn't think it was likely she would make it, but at least she had tried again. She just hoped Indira would keep her mouth shut about it.

Avery had watched the previous year's Quidditch games pretty closely from the stands. Quidditch was a team sport, and he hadn't been too sure it was for him outside of the capacity as a spectator. He'd never had the chance to play a sport with a group before, though both of his parents had played Quidditch in school, and played it well, so he wanted to be able to do them proud. It had still taken some self-encouragement to bring himself out to the pitch, shifting uncomfortably in such a large social setting. It was reassuring to see he wasn't the only one in his year attending, though quite a few of the other students were a fair few years older. He could recognise their new prefect taking charge, and offered her a quizzical look. She hadn't been the captain last year, though perhaps her new status had something to do with it.

"Avie Lancaster. Seeker." Avery started once his turn in line came up, following Seamus' lead in keeping it short and to the point. It had taken a lot of thought to consider the position he'd wanted. Seeker was the only one where he didn't really need to interact with many of the other players. He had one goal to focus one, one small little golden rock to spot in the sky. It was the least daunting to think about. He mounted his mothers old broom, still riddled with dust after too many years at the back of the broom closet, and took to the sky, leaving behind a small cloud in his wake. One, singular golden orb in a large blue sky, that's all he had to focus on. It sounded easy, he'd imagined it was easy, but the reality was anything but.

Avie couldn't see anything up there for some minutes. There was too much nothing, almost overwhelmingly so. But then he spotted it. He'd almost missed it as he scanned the air, so small as it was, and he wasted no time in accelerating after the little thing. He lost it almost immediately and had to slow down to pinpoint its general area, before speeding off again. He gave chase, understanding now why it was so difficult for the seekers to end the game early, but in the end, his hands clasped around the snitch, and its wings settled against his skin. He held it up triumphantly before he released it, wings fluttering again. He continued a few more times, feeling he was getting a little better with each success, or that perhaps the snitch was growing more tired. Finding it was becoming easier, but it was keeping track of it while he tried to fly after it that was the hard part, so many moving parts, worse, he imagined, with other players in the sky. He touched down to the ground, almost feeling nauseous at the sudden change in having everything ground-bound be so close to him after so much time in the empty air, and walked it off on the way back to the castle.

Eleanor Kingsley could hardly believe it when she received the note that she had been made co-captain of the Slytherin quidditch team. Today, they were having tryouts, and Eleanor was determined to do her best for the team. She brought a clipboard with parchment to the field along with her broom. She knew that her teammates might be a bit surprised by the news. She nodded at Liusaidh as she addressed the team. She wrote meticulous notes on her clipboard as the new and current players moved about the pitch.

Ivelisse didn't quite know why Liusadh seemed to be in charge of tryouts when she showed up, but simultaneously she didn't care for it much. She waited for the girl to finish speaking before stepping forward. "Ivelisse Burleigh, trying out for seeker again." She said with a grin, a little annoyed that alternates had to try out again. Especially since she felt like she had proven her skill last time and had given the captain a run for his money. Pushing off into the air Ive flew up above the other players, scanning the sky for that now familiar glimpse of gold. She thought she noticed it at one point, easily avoiding another player to get to it but then lost it again. It didn't take long for her to spot the golden ball again though, shooting after it and managing to wrap her fingers around it once she got close enough. Ive held the snitch up with a grin, letting it go and giving it a few seconds to disappear before setting of to look for it again. She managed another time before tryouts were over although the sneaky little thing certainly hadn't made it easy on her. She was still confident in her skills though, believing just as much as she had last year that they would be stupid not to take her on. Again.
