@Tyler Lee vs @Blake Irons

If Angel was smart, he would have saved his energy and not agreed to proctor this year. But he had never really been that smart. He just hoped no one got too seriously maimed or injured in any of his matches, especially not in the first round. Once the two competitors seemed ready, Angel directed them up to their places at opposite ends of the platforms before address them and the crowd. "Welcome to your first round of duelling, let's have a nice clean duel today. The victor will be able to continue on to the rest of the tournament, and the loser will sadly be eliminated. When you're ready, please bow to your opponent and begin!" He said with a flourish, letting the students get started.
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Tyler felt like it made sense that it had come to this. He had to win against Blake, show him once and for all that he was better. He was the SDA club leader, he couldn't lose in the first round. He bowed slightly, then cast the first spell. "Incarcerous!"

With the Quidditch cup squared away for Slytherin for another year, Blake felt ready to take on the duelling tournament. He had beaten Tyler last year, and he was ready to do so again this year. He gave a small bow before the duel began, then snapped to attention, quickly blocking Tyler's spell before firing back with one of his own. "Levicorpus!"

Tyler knew he had to win this duel and he quickly blocked Blake's spell. He quickly fired back a spell of his own. "Silencio!" He cast. He was sure Blake wouldn't be that good at nonverbal spells.

Salem didn't know half the spells Tyler was throwing around in his duel, but she figured that was to be expected from her cousin considering he lead the duelling club. She watched, eyes large, as Tyler swapped spells with Blake Irons. She still remembered Tyler warning her to stay away from Blake and his sister, wondering if the two of them were still fighting. Or rather, fighting outside of the duel today. Tyler managed to block another one of Blakes spells, and Salem let out a cheer, sure Tyler had this in the bag.

As nice as it would be to end this quickly, Blake wasn't fool enough to think Tyler would be taken down easily. He was already prepared to block his opponent's spell when it came, firing back another of his own. "Confundo!"

Tyler blocked Blake's spell, moving to the side afterwards, trying to keep moving to make himself a more difficult target to hit. He shot a stunning spell at him after a moment.

Despite the upheaval of her emotional life, Lily wanted to continue to try and show her support and offer of friendship for Lars' boyfriend. She felt a bit odd in the dueling chambers, but she was determined. "Go, Blake!" She cheered. It wasn't the loudest cheer or the boldest, but it was a lot for Lily.

Blake knew Tyler's duelling style fairly well after so many years, and he watched his roommate shift positions, countering with a quick shift of his own as he blocked the spell. He shifted again quickly as he cast, trying to catch Tyler off guard. "Expelliarmus!"

Tyler jumped back to avoid Blake's spell, silently cursing himself for having to dodge rather than shield himself. He felt a surge of annoyance. "Incendio!" He cast back.

As frustrated as he was with Tyler, Blake had been picking his spells so as not to harm the other boy, a measure he quickly realised Tyler wasn't taking. He blocked the spell quickly, quickly deciding not to retaliate in kind. A younger, crueller version of Blake would have, but instead he countered with a quick, "Langlock!"

Tyler was a hair too slow with his shield charm, and Blake's spell hit him. He wanted to curse, but he couldn't. This was definitely bad. He was glad they had learned non-verbal spells, but he had never been very good at them. He cast a stunning spell back at Blake non-verbally.

Blake was pleased he finally managed to hit Tyler, though he wished it had been enough to take the other boy out of the duel. Wand gripped tight in his hand, he cast a quick shield, cursing himself again for the choice of spell as he realised how much harder nonverbal spells were going to be to block. "Tarantallegra!" He fired back, not trusting his own nonverbal casting abilities enough to try it. He hoped losing control of his legs might distract Tyler enough to keep him from casting nonverbally again.

Tyler had to jump out of the way, he was struggling without his voice. He managed a disarming spell, but knew it wouldn't be very strong even as he cast it. He was running out of time.

It was satisfying to see Tyler less cocky than usual and Blake couldn't keep the grin off his face as he blocked Tyler's next spell with ease and fired back at his roommate. "Stupefy!"

Tyler knew the spell was going to hit him before it did. He had no time to get a shield up, not without saying it. He couldn't even yell in frustration as the spell hit him and knocked him out.

Non-verbal spells weren't the easiest, even for upper year students, so Angel's heart went out to Tyler when he was hit by Blake's jinx. He put up an admirable effort, but it wasn't surprising that Blake was able to land the last hit and Angel stepped in to stop the duel. "Blake Irons is the winner," he announced, pulling out his wand to revive Tyler and make sure he was okay.
