Y36 Sorting Ceremony

Willow Coleman was nervous, to say the least. Her father had been a respected Ravenclaw and she didn't want to live up to that expectation. She kept scratching her wrist. A nervous habit. Since her last name started with a C, she would be up in a jiffy. At that thought, she started to scratch her wrist harder. Her eyes glanced from left to right. Everyone seemed to have friends while she was by herself. Perhaps her house would be kind to her. Suddenly, she heard her name being called out.

"Coleman, Willow"

She walked up to the stool while the Professor placed the Sorting Hat on her head. She hoped there weren't any nits in there. Willow was a bit disappointed at the way the school sorted the students. She hoped there was some sort of trial but no, it was a scruffy old hat. She didn't know that the hat could hear her thoughts. She could only hope that the hat could sort her into the right house.

"It'll be the right house for you...though for you there are two very good options...slytherin or gryffindor...there is one you would suit and one you would rather....let's go with the latter...Gryffindor,"

Being at the start of the list of names gave Ophelia goose bumps, though it wasn't from nerves, it was her excitement of starting her Hogwarts career like her dad talked about. She turns to the person closest to her and gives them a huge smile, "This is so exciting!"

Ophelia was counting down the names to hers. As soon as they were nearing her name, she felt like her heart was going to burst out of her chest at that moment. Fumbling with her fingers, she hears the Professor call her name,

"Butler, Ophelia."

Ophelia walked to the front of the crowd and sat on the stool like everyone had done before her. With sweat forming in the pits of her hand, Ophelia closed her eyes and waited for the hat to speak,

"Well, this is rather simple, there's so much. adventurous spirit in you, so clearly on display too...Gryffindor"

Glinda was not only nervouse but excited to find out what house she whould be sorted into. She had no one to share this amazing moment with or to share her feelings with. she stood there nervously waiting to hear her name being called out , finally "Glinda" her name was called , she hesitated for a moment before walking up and taking her seat to be sorted.

"While you'd certainly make for a good Gryffindor - there's a lot of adventurous, I think you'll do just as well, if not better in Hufflepuff,"

I wish that the sorting hat will place me where I deserve to be.

"You'll deserve where I place you because it'll be what suits you best and what suits you best is....Slytherin,"

Liam knew enough about his family history to know that it all started on this day twenty one years ago exactly. His father had been sorted into Gryffindor, His Aunt into Hufflepuff and his Uncle into Slytherin. The three of them together had apparently not really worked in the way some might have wanted. Then of course there was his mother who was a Ravenclaw, so really it was all anyone's guess. He looked around, he didn't have any family being sorted today except for that one cousin who lived in Italy, but he didn't know him very well and so didn't really care enough to work him out. He could see a bunch of his other cousins and siblings around the room, and refused to look at them either, preferring to pay attention to the names being called so he didn't miss his. He assumed, they would call him by Nightray rather than Raven, but it was so hard to tell with hyphens because some people were dumb and didn't know how to work with them properly and so would only use the Nightray or the Raven and leave out the hyphen all together. Some people called him Nightray Raven sans hyphen and that annoyed him because he very clearly had a hyphen and it was just impolite to not use it really. He hoped, they would do it properly and call him by Nightray-Raven, but again, it was unlikely because it happened so little. When he did finally hear his name, wrong as he suspected, he slowly walked up to the hat and stool to commence with the sorting. He didn't know nor did he care particularly which house he would be placed in as he had family in all of them to be honest and that was fine by him, though Gryffindor and Ravenclaw contained the twins and they hated him, so he wasn't sure he wanted to know the kinds of antics they would pull with him really.

"I wonder if me telling you a house will make you not go to it.....I guess we'll find out.....Slytherin,"

It was Page who could get into trouble where they couldn't be found. She had a good experience of dating and communicating with people, and she could think of new stories and excite others with her stationery. Before the ceremony, she found a way for her sister to get the pain of a new head that made Page smile about her work. The page was different from its monopolies. She liked reading books and smelling the new reading material. It made her feel like the seventh sky.

She rearranged her mantle sleeves from time to time, its Page a little too long. She felt she was partly frozen in her fears, for she didn't know what Shaughmichael wanted, but on top of it all her name came and she had to go forward without another chance to think about what she wanted to ask. Page swallowed a lump that had gathered in her neck. As she walked forward, her mantle swerved in her legs, and she hoped she wouldn't stumble in front of her. There was a desire to find someone at least a familiar face and a full look of support. She walked slowly, but then again her eyes and attention were looted by the ceiling, which had been sailed and bright stars shining on them in the creased sky. Without knowing Halliwell, she had come close to Sortig and she stopped in the face of worry, but she continued to go. She stepped on the edge of her mantle without noticing her own, her legs crumpled and the girl landed on the steps with her hands. It was very clumsy on her side and embarrassed by the looks around her that were devoted to her.

Page was swallowing a lump again. Despite her sense of embarrassment, she stood up and was successfully seated in her chair for other incidents. How did she know what tower she had to be in and how could she understand the human soul? There were many questions and they hadn't vanished with a sense of fear, but now she tried to focus on thinking about her favorite tower, Hufflepuff, in which she wanted to get. It would be nice to win the betting, but in her mind the tower of the Ravenclaw came back. Which tower suited her better? Elshputt or Ravenclaw? Both towers were good, but she was more hopeful of getting Elshpuff. It was not only an opportunity to be away from her sister. Page Halliwell closed her eyelids and took a deep breath. She was at least briefly prepared to hear Sorting decision.

"I'll have to disagree for you there is only one good house and that is.....Hufflepuff,"

Eadred was little tired, but this was magical moment. Stars and silver shining from moon, and women with white hair and voice from future. Headmistress Alicastell, he recalled and was calm about this new place and new opportunities.

And then... Hearing his name was good. Eadred happily walked up to the stool to have the hat out on his head. In this thrilling adventure he was completely alone. White page, clean start. Everything is possible!

"Everything is possible and you're about blend in very well with those who are constantly challenging that everything.....Ravenclaw"

There she was, Hailey Penelope Rowle, daughter of two death eaters, someone who didn’t want to follow her parents’ footsteps, she had a deep desire to be a hero, not a villain. She was waiting impatiently for the teacher to call her name, and see who she truly is, after all she had always been confused about that. Looking up to the bewitching ceiling, her name was called. She sat down and the sorting hat was put into her head. She was nervous, truly nervous, she had always been hiding her true self, and was afraid the sorting hat won’t be able to look past her mask. She thought about how she could be in each house, any of them fit, she kept wondering whether the sorting hat looks at how she is right now or how she wants to be. The sorting hat, it felt quite strange, it was mumbling words, she knows it was taking a few seconds, but she felt like eternity she was under the hat. She started to get impatient, she was eager to go and make friends, to go and explore Hogwarts, to go and learn magic! She wanted to know everything and everyone, but at the same time she wanted to start getting in trouble with her best friends, she wanted to really start her experience, and this couldn’t happen unless she was sorted.

"You have a strong sense of loyalty, a desire to learn and in all of that is bravery....best be...Gryffindor,"

Rita Smile was ready to be sorted. It was her time! Even though it was Kengi's last year, she was still excited she would see him more. The Great Hall was much bigger than she imagined, which made sense. There were so many students! The was some quiet chattering happening in the line, and it was nice background noise to all the hush in the Hall. Someone had asked her what house she wanted, but Rita couldn't get out a word before the person's name was called. Hufflepuff. That is what she would have said. She could be closer to her brother, and she heard Hufflepuff was a great house anyways! Auntie Jaz had been in it. Kengi was in it. There would be no problem if she was. It was choice she was content with. She would find her way there. She was sure of it.

"Smile, Rita."

Rita took in a deep breath before walking up to the stool. She stared at the old thing for a moment before she took a seat. She tried to get comfortable as the hat was placed on her head. "Hufflepuff will be okay." she thought loudly. It would be the easy choice. It would not cause the Hat any trouble.

"Okay?! But we're not going for okay, we're going for perfect and perfect for you will not be Hufflepuff..it could be slytherin...but all that desire you have to learn....that's certainly....Ravenclaw,"

Kai looked around the big hall, she realized that tonight is one big night. There's no turning back and a new journey is about to began. She imagined lot of things like fireplace in the common room and coffee. "Awee, that's comfortable." she thought. Everyone was starting to talk with each other except for her who just stood silently waiting for her turn. She yawned and rubbed her eyes, she felt sleepy again. Her body feels so heavy that she wanted to lie down on the bench.

"Neverland, Kai."

After a few turns of students, she's finally called. Everyone was looking at her, she felt her heart race. "There's really no turning back right now." she thought quietly. She took a deep breath and walked forward and looked at the sorting hat. She smiled and sat down on the small tool. The sorting hat was then placed on her head, she immediately crossed her fingers for a good luck.

"You can always turn back, but where's the fun in that....Slytherin,"

Hilda was dazzled by the beauty and complexity of the architecture of the great hall, then her gaze looked at the new students who all had different occupations some seemed to wait patiently, some had already made acquaintance, others seemed about to vomit .Hilda, on the other hand, was doing one of the things she was most adept at, observation..When everyone had arrived in the Hall, the call of the names began, after a few minutes the name of Hilda was called.

"De Valeriane, Hildegard"

She raised her hand as a sign of presence then began to walk towards the sorting hat but on her way she stumbled and fell.
"I'm okay ,I'm okay" she said to the crowd as she rose
"I'm so clumsy, sorry " she said at to the professor in charge of the sorting hat
Then she sat on the stool quickly, after a few seconds she felt the cup of the hat resting lightly on her head then the sorting hat started talking:

"Here I am...here to sort you, and you are not as simple as some of the others I've sorted....but...then again, I'm the best hat there is.....Gryffindor"

Eva was watching as the others students were being called. It seemed like they were all confident and familiar with this world, which made her hands sweat even more. After a moment, the professor called her name.

"Sunray, Eva"

She gulped anxiously while making her way through the crowd to finally sit on the stool. Feeling the eyes of hundreds of people on her was terrifying, but their faces were showing excitement, which relaxed the girl. The professor put the Sorting hat on her head. Eva was definitely impressed by the fact that a talking and singing hat could even exist.
Her hands were clenched on the stool as she was watching the different tables. She honestly didn't know where she could belong as she wasn't really ambitious, had terrible grades and not so much friends in the muggle world and didn't feel brave at all. But the hat should probably know better than her...

"You are braver than you think...but I can see what you want...Hufflepuff,"

Beckett was on the Great Hall. He waited all his life for this moment and all of this was perfectly planned, he wouldn't have times for parties, to go for a walk, to spend time on foolish things, study was his one and only priority and that's all he cared for. He had to graduate on top of his class. He had. To be. The best. No place for errors or mistakes this wasn't the place for it but he wasn't very worried about that because he had never made a mistake in life. Now, he would be sorted into Ravenclaw like his parents told him they were, like his sister was, like every family member who went to hogwarts was. He never thought if it was what he really wanted, he just didn't want for his parents to be ashamed of him so he had to get in. Of course he had thought about other houses too and his second choice was definitely Slytherin which wasn't so bad but those were foolish thoughts. He knew what he was born to be and with that, his name was called.

"You'll find a house full of people who want to be the top of their class, so you better find a way to shine in... Ravenclaw!"

Olivia was there, she couldn't actually believe she was there! She thought about how she would miss her family but they were all so happy when she left too that she didn't have a lot of remorse of leaving them. She always felt like there was something more for her, she always knew something was missing in her mundane life she just didn't knew what. Now she knew and she couldn't be more excited, some tears of happiness streaming down her face. She then heard her name being called. She got up and walked towards a stool where there was a professor holding a hat and waiting for her to sit

"Now's your chance to reinvent yourself and find some adventure. You'll do that in... Hufflepuff!"

Valentin was really excited. He knew this day would come like his parents told him. He was excited and nervous. He always wanted to be a Ravenclaw but his siblings said he was something more of a Hufflepuff and that really annoyed him. This was the time where he was gonna prove that his triplets were wrong. He was gonna become a Ravenclaw...or not.

"Right, Valentin"

He got up and walked toward the stool. His excitement flooding but he took a deep breath and tried to get a hold of himself

"It's my job to dig deep and see where you belong, and sorry to tell you but it isn't Ravenclaw. You're truly a...Hufflepuff!"

Saira was in the halls, taking in all of the twinkling lights of the candles and the stars on the ceiling. Many of her age rushed into the room pushing her forward, and she did not like it. It was a little too warm for her liking and a little to crowded for her to see. Despite being taller than most of her age, there were too many heads poking out of the crowd of shorter people. Other than that, she was quite excited, magic being a fairly new concept to her, as she is muggle-born. Her parents didn’t know that she would be attending hogwarts. All they knew was that she was attending some fancy boarding school, and Saira was going to keep it that way.

Soon, they were at the front of the hall and after what seemed like a million names, her was called,
“Lykims, Saira”

She started towards the chair in a graceful manner, and sat on it, crossing her legs to the side.
“Hello, sorting hat, it seems you will be assigning my house. I hope you do choose the right one for me. I will be lending you my trust.“ She said out loud. She stared at the students below her. Hoping that she would be sorted in a house with a colour she could pull of.

The sorting house babbled on for about two minutes as Saira grew tired, she thought to herself. “When is this ending? I could fall asleep! This was so short for the others. ”

"People are complex, so some are easy to place and others not. Guess which one you are? Even so, I've never failed at my job, and I won't start today. You belong in...Slytherin!"

Blake was sitting in the wooden bench of a table chewing some bubblegum. She was lost in her own mind to busy to care about what was happening. She didn't even knew why she was chosen to be here, the decorations in the castle weren't even that pretty but she coupdn't do anything now. She was debating herself on whether she should care about this school or if it was gonna be like the other ones where her dad would just bribe the professors into giving her good grades and trying to get away with it without her knowing. She just wished to be normal, and the lack of confidence that her dad had in her just showed that he really doesn't know her because she is smart and she's gonna prove that to everyone.
Someone calls her name while she is lost in this train of thoughts. She is suddenly pulled back to reality and she notices she's being called to do whatever the other students were doing. She notices everyone looking at her so she finally gets up, almost tripping but she didn't "Crisis adverted" she thought to herself "You were almost making a fool out of yourself on the first day in front of all these people" she smiles to everyone trying to make them forget about her almost falling, the heels of her stilletos echoing through the room as she walk forward.

"Adventure awaits you in...Gryffindor!"

Veronica was in a total new environment. She was used to being always with her brothers or at least be the center of attention but right now she was none. Her brothers had taken sits away from her and she didn't knew anyone. But one thing was for sure, she was gonna be the center of attentions very soon even though for just a brief moment and she didn't knew what to feel. She was used to that, people watching her every move, so it was fine to her. She sees her brothers being called, she knows she is next.

"Right, Veronica"

She embraces herself for what's coming after the hat decides herfuture but right now, with all eyes on her, it's her time to shine

"You have high hopes and lofty goals for yourself, but you also have the drive to achieve them. Your desire to be the best and strong ambitions make you suited for...Slytherin!"

Aurora had just arrived at the Great Hall. The amount of people there was scary but nothing she couldn't get over. She was really proud of herself for being admitted into Hogwarts, it was all she had dreamed since she was a little girl and now her dream was coming true. She heard her name being called and she knew what she had to do. She got up and fearlessly crossed the sea of faces to a tiny stool where the hat was waiting.

"Don't get too comfortable. I know just where to send you. Hufflepuff!"

Flynn wasn't nervous in the slightest, why would he be? He was confident that he was going to get through this in one piece. Truthfully, he was simply glad of the chance to get out of the orphanage, away from the matrons who he was sure hated his guts and just wanted to get rid of him. Well he supposed this was their lucky day, he was finally out of their hair and he had no intentions of coming back until the end of the school year.

"North, Flynn!"

A grin slipped easily onto his features when he heard his name, easily shoving his hands into his pockets as he shouldered past the boy standing in front of him with a rough, "move." Head held high and nerves bubbling inside his chest, Flynn moved to the front of the Great Hall and happily plopped himself down on the stool. And as the old sorting hat was lowered over his eyes, the only thing he could really say about the situation was - "When was the last time you were washed? You smell... musty."

"So do you, but you don't see me complaining. Now let me do my job and place you. Oh, you're not as tough as you'd like everyone to believe are you? Hopefully, you'll let yourself learn a few things in...Gryffindor!"

As Sarah stepped into the hall she looked around and she firmly gripped her letter. She sat down on a vacant seat and attentively listened to the headmaster's speech. She was really excited to be accepted into Hogwarts, specially since she comes from a muggle family. While waiting for her name to be called she read her letter over and over again. She didnt know much about Hogwarts but she began to study as soon as she received her letter. And then her name got called, she walked over to the stool and sat down....f

"I've sorted many a muggleborn student, and I bet you'll meet some of them today as you begin your magical education. It's my job to place you in the house that'll help you succeed. For you, that better be... Ravenclaw!"

Aaliyah's first year at Hogwarts. It felt unreal that she was following the steps of her older siblings. They said it wasn't scary, but as she stepped grounds of this school, her knees were trembling. As the group of first-year students walked up the stairs, Aaliyah had already started to make friends. Her parents had high expectations, as being the last family member to join Hogwarts, I'm sure the school did too. All her older siblings were apart of Gryffindor and were straight-A students.

As the group slowly started to fill up the room, the noise level went from loud to silent in the blink of an eye. Aaliyah was eager to find out which house she would be put in. This is one of the biggest moments in the wizarding world. The professor was speaking but all she could think about was what was to come in these 7 years. Suddenly, names were being called. That boy was in Hufflepuff. That girl was in Slytherin. After about 10 minutes, she heard it.

Mendes, Aaliyah

She stepped up and sat on the stool. The sorting hat was placed on her head and began to speak. Here comes what she has been waiting for her entire life.

"Sometimes it's better to be apart from your siblings to help bring out your identity. That's the case here. Gryffindor wouldn't be right for you. You're a true... Ravenclaw!"

Dara felt anxious as she remained standing in front of the witch who conducted the sorting ceremony. One by one, her co-first years joined their house tables. She was new to this country, as she only came here a week ago after receiving her admission letter to the school. If it weren’t for the fact that the sorting ceremony will take turns for each student, she would probably make a fool of herself. Good thing she had to scratch that off from her worry-list and waited for her turn.

As the ceremony went on, she noticed some students having older siblings in the school. Usually, they were also sorted into the same house as their siblings. She felt anxious once again knowing she didn’t have any relatives being admitted in this school. Once they will be assigned to their dorm room, she would write lots of stuff in her diary. Dara then tried to remember if she put her diary in her trunk as she remembered it. She was thinking where she could have place it inside her trunk when her name was finally called.

“Dara Luza!”

She straightened herself up, composed herself and stepped forward. As she walked towards the stool, she could hear murmurs. Maybe they were wondering which country she was from. She hoped they heard of Philippines as she sat down and felt down the hat in her head. There was a deafening silence until the hat spoke to her.

"You've come a long distance to attends this school, so I better get this right, huh? Don't worry! I've never been wrong! Never! You're a...Slytherin!"

It was the first time tha Ches was feeling that nervous; he always had been brave and courageful, how his parents would say "You're awesome" or in Spanish, "Eres la leche". Then he realised what was happening, he raised awareness about the situation and tryed to stay relaxed. The ceremony had just started, he didn't have anything to be scared of.

Suddenly his confidence was raising, he was sure that he was going to be sorted into his favourite house, but there was a big possibility that this wasn't happening, so he prefered to keep thinking on something more realistic. "How will mom and dad be? I should call them later to tell them everything." He kepthis mind blank for a while until he noticed how the student that was before him was preparing her turn. "Just two more to go, keep calm Ches, you can with everything" he thought.

He started focusing on the hat, but he saw how a black cat passed behind really fast, the cat had a intense black fur, with really bright eyes, it was really pleasing to look at him or her, the gender wasn't visible from where he was.

When he came back to reality he was surprised by a voice:

"Bravo, Chesasoo"

He started to be nervous again, he couldn't even react.

"Mr. Bravo, it's your turn, please take a sit right here."

He was ready to know the truth, where will he be sorted? He was going to know it ipso facto. He felt how the hat was putted over his head, he couldn't wait until the answer of his questions. "Hola gorro, I mean, sorry, hi sorting hat, I'm ready to hear your veredict whenever your ready, I'm sure you're going to slect the right house for me..."

"Of course, I am because that's my job! And you're right, there isn't anything to be afraid of. I'll just have a look and place you in the right house. For you, that's...Slytherin!"

Kard watched as his fellow first-years get sorted into their respective houses, observing their reactions and movements a bit too closely. He couldn't help it; He was excited to finally be part of something he was always told about when he was younger. He was excited to learn from all the different classes he would take and all the knowledge that'll flow into his brain.

"Thomas, Kard"

He was finally called to take a seat and be sorted. As he walked up the stairs, he kept his head held high and his shoulders back and relaxed, just like what his dad taught him. He took a seat on the chair and the hat was placed on his head. He kept himself relaxed, not forgetting to breathe properly, so that he wouldn't work himself up to an attack.

"That's right, you keep breathing while I figure this out. Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure. Know which house that's for? Yours! Ravenclaw!"
