Y36 Dueling Match #4

Current Points: 35

Juniper sighed when the Gryffindor blocked another spell. It seemed like they were both relatively decent at this, though getting hit with fits of laughter made her weaker than she would have liked to have been. Noticing that he had grabbed his wand with both hands, Juniper felt a twinge of hope. Maybe, just maybe, she could actually not only get Adorah off her back but actually show her up. Most of what Juniper had done this year had either been to annoy or retaliate against her sister, but this time, her stubbornness might just pay off. She heard the jelly-brain jinx coming towards her and barely blocked herself and almost lost her balance in the process. She did not want her brain to resemble jelly in any sort of way. She regained her footing and called out. "Incendio," she said with much less power than the beginning of the duel, aiming towards the boy's feet.

The duel was getting a bit exhausting, but Lysander kept his hands firmly on his wand, ready to block the next spell. For a moment he thought he might win, but as Juniper found her footing and fired back, he was surprised to see that she'd aimed at his feet. He was too slow to move his wand down to block it, and was soon hopping about, his shoe on fire. He yelped and frantically kicked at the heel to dislodge it, and planted his shoeless feet on the platform. He look at the flaming shoe with a sad frown, hoping his dad could fix it without him getting into too much trouble. It wasn't his fault they were ruined, this time. "Um, everte statum." He said, blasting the flaming shoe toward Juniper. It was already on fire, and he didn't know how to conjure water, so he figured he may as well damage it further.

Juniper couldn't help but laugh when she saw her spell hit Lysander. She didn't mean to set him on fire. It was more of an attempt to scare him off the platform, but ruining his shoe would have to do. She covered her mouth to hold in her giggles when she noticed a flaming shoe coming towards her. "Ahhhh!" she yelped as she pancaked onto the platform to avoid setting her own self on fire but missed and fell completely off and almost onto another student. She pushed herself onto her knees and yelled at him. "You could have ruined my hair!" She wanted to show her sister up but not if that meant destroying her own clothes or hair. Huffing, she climbed back up onto the platform and crossed her arms, upset that she lost, but at least satisfied she had caused him some damage. "Good game," she murmured reluctantly.

Lysander turned bright red, trying not to burst into a fit of laughter as Juniper plummeted off the platform. It was hilarious to watch. "It'd grow back!" Sander said with a shrug and a grin. There were probably spells for it. He'd chatted with Sully a bit on hair-growth charms, but he didn't actually know any. "Good game! I had fun. You were pretty good." He continued once she'd pulled herself back up onto the platform. He was almost disappointed for it to be over, but it meant that for now, he was slug-vomit free, and could have a minute to rest.

Professor Styx watched the duel carefully, before too long, the Gryffindor came out on top. He announced that Summers was the winner.
