Y31 Wheelbarrow Race: The Race!

Odette grimaced and cursed when Margo hit the ground. Sure, she was annoyed they were now a little more behind, but she was also concerned about her best friend. "You okay?" She asked, then quickly added, "just nod," before the girl could get distracted again and stumble once more, which seemed sort of likely. She was glad Margo kept going, as she knew the girl probably had the tougher job of the two. "You're doing great." She said by way of encouragement, hoping it would help keep her spirit up.

There had been a few stumbles, but it was certainly going to be a close one. Monty grinned as he watched the students make their way down the final stretch toward the finish line, breath almost held in anticipation for the winners. He wasn't rooting for anybody in particular, but the excitement in the air was tangible, and he knew that more than one of the students had a competitive streak.

OOCOut of Character:
The next team to cross the finish line wins! Both roleplayers have to post before they're considered the winners.

Odette didn't know if Margo was responding to her positive reinforcement, but it did make her feel a little better about pushing her so hard. She spotted the finish line not too far in the distance. "C'mon, we're almost there!" She said, urging her on more.

Sapphire wasn't paying too much attention to where they were, but she heard Odette shout. She was there? She glanced up. They we're pretty close to her captain. Sapph grinned and focused a bit more. "Move it old man," she teased her partner. "Let's finish this!"

She could see the finish line in sight. "Come on Corrine! We're almost there!" Xena knew it was definitely easier said than done, and being the one to hold the legs was definitely easier than being the arms. But Xena wanted to win!

It felt like forever before the final stretch, and Zenia's arms were aching from having to hold up Rose's legs, but she could imagine Rose's arms were even more sore than hers. "Go go go!" Zenia shouted, none the less. They were almost there! They could win this thing!

The finish line was in sight for Jess and she was desperate to be the one to cross it. "Pick up the pace we're almost there," Jess yelled back to her partner. They were getting closer and closer to the finish line.

Gideon didn't need telling twice. It had been a difficult journey of trying to balance running and pushing without tripping over his own feet, or Jessica herself, but they'd managed to get a good pace during the race and Giddy was excited. The finish line was so close, and as risky as it was, the Gryffindor picked up his pace, running that little bit faster. They were so close, it was practically in front of them - and then they crossed it. Gideon finally stumbled and fell across the grass, rolling over to glance back at the finishing behind them. "Did we do it? Did we win?" He asked, but by the looks of it, they had been the first. "Jess! We did it!" Giddy shouted, holding up his hand for a high five.

It had been an awkward journey, attempting a half-crawl, half-run to the finish line, and Rose's arms were exhausted. Merlin's beard, she needed to get done more exercise done. Being the wheelbarrow had been a lot harder than it looked, and the girl had been constantly aware of the feeling of her glasses shifting in her pocket, threatening to fall out at any moment, until a shout from behind her had the girl looking up. The finish line was just a bit further, they were almost- they crossed it! Rose let out a sigh of relief. She didn't want to have to do that for a moment longer. The Ravenclaw scanned the others crossing the line, or having already crossed it, but it was difficult to tell where they'd placed. "How did we do?" She called breathlessly back to Zenia.

Flavio continued moving forward, keeping his eyes forward when the finish line was in sight. Winning was not his goal but he knew Rory would be more inclined to care if they placed so as they got closer to the end of the race he tried his hardest to help win for his friend's sake.

The finish line in front, Rory pushed to finish. He kept encouraging Flavio to move quicker and quicker, they could finish with a place hopefully. He kept going and going and finally crossed the line. He sighed heavily and let go of Flavio, teaching a hand down to him to help him back up”I can’t tell how we did, I don’t think we won though,” it didn’t matter if they won or lost the ice cream after would be on the table and he had enjoyed himself with Flavio during the tournament.

Signy pushed forward, she was encouraging Xavier lightly, with a light tone in her voice, they certainly hadn't won this, but she was so happy for the time they were able to spend together. She liked xavier a lot. The moment they crossed the finish line, signy let go of the boy's ankles and sat down on the ground next to him, laughing lightly, "Goodness," she couldn't help the word that escaped her lips as she smiled and marvelled in what they'd just done together. It had been fun, "You're a great wheelbarrow partner," Signy looked at the boy fondly, hoping that he wouldn't be disappointed that they hadn't won, but happier that they'd just had fun.

Monty really couldn't tell who was going to win; the slightest trip or stumble could have sent the leaders into second place or the runners-up into third. "It's almost neck-and-neck as our wheelbarrows approach the finish line!" he said, enjoying himself a little too much. "Miss Cade and Mr Zelinsky have taken the lead, but can they keep it? Thornhill and Katsaros are right on their wheels, but... no! Cade and Zelinsky are across the line! An indisputable win, there, with Thornhill and Katsaros coming in at a very admirable second place. A few stragglers catching up now, but I'm afraid it's all over for you. Congratulations Cade and Zelinsky; your wheelbarrow was unparalleled. A remarkable race that is certain to go down in Hogwarts' history." That might have been a slight exaggeration, but they would at least have their trophies displayed in the trophy room for many years to come.
