Valentine Werewolf

Go Wolves!!!! Alex you were very right about me, but I played innocent

Told y'all Jaime was a wolf but nooooo, y'all suspected me :glare: my gut feeling is legit.

Reading back, I am so impressed with the wolves' strategy, I'm so upset!! lol
Y'all were sneaky, but well played :glare:

Still wanna know who the White Wolf was??

I wanna know all the roles. I'm pretty sure I was the fool, so Tenile was the actual Seer which sucked because she died early on. xD

Ya, Teigan, give us roles! :D

I think this is right. Based off of what people have claimed since the game ended and what the Devil said she's seen, here are the roles I know of
Alpha Wolf

Updated with all the roles!

The lovers were obviously Sara Moon and Charlotte Owens.

Kaye stole KR's role the night she was turned, Kaye got her PM in first however so it ended up that way. I was hysterical for hours after it xD

Thanks so much for participating guys!

Was the devil communicating with the wolves outside of this topic?
The only out of topic game chat should be wolves amongst themselves (no devil) and special characters to game master. Just like villagers don't get to know their seer and plot in secret (the seer has to risk outing themselves), so the devil has to risk outing themselves to try to help the wolves... Otherwise, it really tips the balance of power in the game!

All I know is that about half way through the Devil saw a wolf, so I can't say if she communicated outside the game or not. Admittedly, I believe I said they could all communicate with each other outside of the game.

If that's how you instructed them, then fair enough. I've just always been very against it because I find it makes the game impossible to play properly (consider how it's played in a room together - no conversation happens without everybody hearing it, the night phase is a lot of hushed pointing and that's it), and generally twists the balance of the game.
Imagine: The seer sees a villager, starts talking to that villager on Skype, builds a coalition of goof guys who they inform out of topic about wolves, etc., and they know not to kill each other. Or the devil sees a wolf and starts actively informing only them of who to target and doesn't have to risk others noticing that they reveal the guardian and then the guardian dies...

Ahh, but both of these scenarios have a chance to occur simultaneously, so it's not unbalanced if both sides have a chance to get a Seer on their side. Whether or not they can use their Seer depends on the craftiness of the individual teams.

Usually there is no devil. So unbalanced toward the village in most cases.
Secondly: "Consider how it's played in a room together - no conversation happens without everybody hearing it, the night phase is a lot of hushed pointing and that's it"
It really is absolutely not in the spirit of this game to have secret conversations not in public.

Let's not forgot that there are multiple versions of this game and how it is played. This isn't just a tabletop game with hushed pointing and closed eyes (Which in person makes it easy for people to cheat). Not every game of Werewolf on here has been the same, roles or otherwise.

Town of Salem, for example, has a team of evil players who each have their own ability during the night phase, such as finding out villagers roles, blocking them from using their abilities, and stopping them from speaking during the day phase. They can all openly discuss their strategies during the night phase.

In any case, the Devil hinted as to who they were, and while we were given the okay to communicate, we didn't communicate with her until the final two (?) nights, where we'd essentially already won, and Lovi had suggested she was the guardian openly.

As far as I know, I haven't seen a game with the Devil before, so I don't think there's been much of a precursor for how the role should be dealt with?

Sure, but then everybody knows the rules and abides by them. You don't have games where some people have secret conversations and others don't. Whatever the policy is needs to be clearly spelled out so everybody knows what's what.

Not only that, but online it's different. People play completely differently, and there are fewer 'tells' to be able to get indications off people anyway, so letting secret conversations also happen is harmful because it removes the little possible information gathering there is (in public discussion).

Finally, the fact that Werewolf on HNZ has varied from time to time has not escaped me. Some have been disasters of miscommunication, and others have failed to attempt a proper balance of teams favouring one outcome over another. (This isn't a criticism of the people who lead them necessarily, either, plenty of professional game designers spend years fine tuning and attempting to balance their games only to never quite succeed - hardly worth that effort for something that lasts a couple weeks.) Nevertheless, some effort should be made to ensure an even playing field.
