The Stands

While Matt was incredibly proud of October for getting a spot on the team, he couldn't help feeling anxious as he watched her game start. The feeling in his stomach was very much the same one he had whenever April was playing. Why did both girls play a position that was most at risk of being hurt? He smiled at his daughter as she cheered for her stepsister. He was happy to see the two of them growing closer. Matt also had to admit it was nice to cheer for Ravenclaw, as it had once been his own house. The match was brutal from the start, and he watched in dismay as two girls got hit with two bludgers. He was glad it wasn't October, but still felt bad for them. But then his stepdaughter ended the match by catching the snitch. Matt grinned and applauded, feeling incredibly proud. He nodded at April. "We'll go congratulate her, and we can have some tea and cake in my office later."

Elio was present for the first game and had every intention of being present for the second, especially since his own team was playing this time. Despite feeling sick at the thought of the drop below, the first year was stood as close to the edge of the stands as he could possibly get, shouting down words of support as they prepared themselves for the match to help both their confidence and his own, as he tried not to panic at the view of the grass below. "GO GO GRYFFINDOR."

Professor Kingsley usually enjoyed watching quidditch matches, especially the Gryffindor ones. Today, she didn't think she was going to enjoy much. A mixture of nerves and pride for her son as well as concern for Merrill and Marisol's ability to lead the team and work together were too present on the woman's mind. Making sure she had a good view of the pitch, Cyndi waited for the match to begin.

Although her own team wasn't playing today, Veronica still wanted to take the chance to watch a Quidditch game in person. She also knew that Tomas was on the Gryffindor team, which would be playing today, so she had tied a gold ribbon in her hair and brought a little red flag down to show her support. It wasn't the same flag she had brought to the previous game - she hadn't been able to bring herself to cast the colour-changing charm on it for even a couple of hours, and had instead transfigured one of her quills to stand in its place. It looked exactly like a flag, and she gave it another few testing waves as she took a seat in the stands. Veronica hoped that today's match would prove exciting.

Analei almost didn't want to go to the game after not being selected to join the team, but she knew she had to. Not only to pick up tips on how she could improve (and make sure she got into the team the following year), but to support Arvel. Analei knew he felt nervous, that he felt bad about making the team and not her, but she was going to be as supportive as she could possibly be. And that meant attending not only his first - but all of his games. Analei had made a huge sign that had said GO HUFFLEPUFF, and GO ARVEL written underneath. Jacob Kingsley was also playing in this game, so they definitely had to win. There was no way Analei would be okay if Kingsley had made the team, and then Gryffindor won. There would be no living with him after that. As the team entered the pitch, Analei started cheering. "GO ARVEL!" She shouted as loud as she could.

Elio was just about content with where he was standing, although his head shot up when he heard another girl shouting down a name he didn't know. He may not have known many people on the Gryffindor team, but "Arvel" wasn't one of them. In a bid to keep the competition equal, Elio turned back to the ground on the floor. "GO JACOB!" He shouted with a grin before glancing at the girl. He was one of the only people he knew on the team, and it was only fair to keep it balanced.

Not that long ago, Matt had watched the match between Ravenclaw and Slytherin unfold in these same stands. Back then, October had been playing as seeker and he had felt nervous for her. He had also felt incredibly proud of her, and had made sure to tell her so after the match. But now the anxiety and worry was back in full force as he watched his daughter on the field. April didn't seem nervous at all. She seemed rather excited. Matt sighed softly, making sure his stepdaughter was still following him with the sign she was carrying as he tried to find a good seat. He spotted one next to his colleague, and gave Cyndi a smile as he sat down. "Do you mind if I sit here? If anyone knows how I feel, I'm guessing it's you." He said with a nod to the field where both their children were standing. He sighed. "I never know if I'm more worried or proud." He added, then glanced at October. He wondered if she had any idea he also meant the last match, the one she had played. But he didn't think he could say that right here.

It was like everyone loved Jacob, and wanted to shove it in Analei's face. Why did everyone love him? The boy did this on purpose, she just knew it. He glanced at her after he cheered for the boy, and Analei felt her eyes narrow, her sign lowering for just a second. Well, two could play at that game. Analei lifted her sign high again, knowing she'd just have to shout louder than she thought she could. "GO ARVEL!" Analei yelled again. Ha. Beat that.

Emilia was nervous but also excited about this match. She had no interest in Quidditch herself, and as she watched the players down on the field she was very glad not to be part of any team. But Jacob was, and Arvel was too. Emilia considered both boys her friend, and she was a little torn on who to cheer for. Arvel was in her own house, but Jacob was in Evelyn's. And she was a little closer to Jacob too. Their talk at the lake had been really nice. She had found a seat by herself, but quickly heard a familiar voice shouting Arvel's name. She looked up to see Analei only a little to her left and a few rows behind her. Emilia got to her feet, intending to make her way over, but before she could a boy nearby shouted a cheer for Jacob instead. Emilia turned to look at him curiously, though not very happy about all the shouting, and then jumped as Analei shouted even harder. Emilia winced, covering her ears. She quickly sat back down, Analei probably hadn't noticed her anyway. Hopefully, the supporters would be less noisy when the game actually started.

Elio tilted his head a little as the girl rose to the bait and tried harder still to call out the name of the other player. The Gryffindor smirked, looking out across the pitch again, putting his thumb and fore finger in his mouth to whistle loudly, a skill he'd been taught by his older brother. After a few seconds, he turned to stick out his tongue at the girl, wondering if she was able to do that or if she would have to just be satisfied with her signage. As though they could read it from down there.

The whistle was super loud and Analei couldn't help but glare at the boy again. Show off. She had a quick thought, followed by a smirk as she whipped out her wand. Analei quickly pointed it to her poster, casting a Flashing paint charm onto it, and it started flashing different colors and light and made it way more noticeable. Analei then Leviosa-d it into the sky, so everyone could see it. This time, she focused on her poster, and didn't look at the boy to see what would obviously be a look of defeat and dismay.

It was quite clear that this girl wasn't backing down, and it didn't escape Elio's notice that she tried to make some adjustments to her sign. He was going to have to get creative. He didn't really know any spells at all asides from Lumos and that wasn't going to get him far. At least he'd helped the other girl with her artistry though which was something, and she would have a better idea for what made a sign stand out against a crowd for next time. Even though the Gryffindor continued glaring at her few a moment, he wasn't done. Turning to stand on the bench, he began to chant as loud as he possibly could. Viewing something was one thing, but it much easier for the players to listen to something as they kept their eyes on the ball. "WHO ARE WE FIGHTING FOR? GRYFFINDOR, COMING OUT WITH A MIGHTY ROAR. WHO ARE WE FLYING FOR? GRYFFINDOR, THIS IS BATTLE THIS IS WAR! WHO ARE WE FIGHTING FOR? GRYFFINDOR WE'RE THE ONES YOU CAN'T IGNORE!"

Emilia's hopes of the shouting becoming less were soon dashed, as it seemed Analei and this boy were now wrapped up in some sort of noise-making contest. Emilia tensed, not enjoying the back and forth in the slightest. After Analei's loud shouting, the boy started whistling a high shrieking tone that made her wince. Then Analei enchanted her poster and made it fly into the sky. The boy then started to chant, and Emilia shrank back into her seat. Her gaze darted around, trying to see if there was a better seat somewhere. But how would she slip away without seeming like she was annoyed by the noise? What if they would be mad at her? Emilia tried to focus on the pitch, that was what mattered right now.

Analei's mouth dropped open, gobsmacked at his chant. She dropped her sign and stared at him incredulously. Damn, he was good. But she'd heard of one too. Smirking, Analei turned back and held up her sign again. "WHO ARE WE SORRY FOR? GRYFFINDOR - THERE'S NO WAY YOU CAN SCORE! WHO ARE WE FLYING BY? GRYFFINDOR, ALWAYS EASY TO IGNORE! WHO ARE WE SORRY FOR? GRYFFINDOR, CAN'T HANDLE WHAT'S IN STORE!"

Really? She was going to try and copy him? Well maybe he had another up his sleeve. Joining Hogwarts he hadn't been completely oblivious to what to expect and he liked a little house competition. He cleared his throat, unaware of whether he was annoying anyone else around him. "WHO ARE WE SORRY FOR? HUFFLEPUFF, THERE'S NO WAY THAT YOU ARE ROUGH. WHO ARE WE FLYING BY? HUFFLEPUFF, ALL YOU ARE IS TALK AND FLUFF! WHO ARE WE SORRY FOR? HUFFLEPUFF, DON'T YOU THINK YOU'VE LOST ENOUGH?"

Analei glanced around her to see if she could encourage some other Puffs to join in her chant. Seeing Emilia, her eyes lit up as she beckoned her over, hoping the girl would join in with her cheering and chanting. She looked around her, trying to pump up the other Hufflepuffs in the crowd, and continued her chanting. "WHO ARE WE SORRY FOR? GRYFFINDOR - THERE'S NO WAY YOU CAN SCORE! WHO ARE WE FLYING BY? GRYFFINDOR, ALWAYS EASY TO IGNORE! WHO ARE WE SORRY FOR? GRYFFINDOR, CAN'T HANDLE WHAT'S IN STORE!"

Did she really think that anyone was going to join her chanting? If anything, the students would probably join him even if they were Hufflepuff. He had a much better singing voice. "G R Y F F I N D O R! WE'RE THE ONES THAT JUST GO FAR. H U F F L E P U F F, DON'T YOU THINK YOU'VE LOST ENOUGH." In all honestly, Elio could do with a drink, but he wasn't going to let the side down.

Emilia's heart dropped as Analei caught her eye and beckoned her over. Anxious about all the shouting, she barely thought about her reaction as she quickly shook her head and averted her gaze. Only after she had done it did she think of how disappointed Analei would probably be. But Emilia really couldn't see herself shouting the way they were. Biting her lip, she tried to avoid looking in either person's direction now. Hopefully, Analei wouldn't want to stop being her friend now.

"It's all yours" the professor stated, offering a small smile to her colleague. She knew his daughter was on the pitch today, in the Seeker position no less. "Ah, so it is normal to feel the butterflies in my stomach and chest at the same time. That's good to know" she added, with a small chuckle.

The game still hadn't begun though the din of the stands would have you thinking otherwise. She could only hear snippets of the changes, but didn't move to stop them. It seemed they were having fun. As the Gryffindor captain met with Reeve, Cyndi returned her attention to the pitch, wishing Matt good luck as the whistle blew.

Athena walked over to the stands to watch the game. The blonde was rooting for her house today. And she wanted to cheer for Jacob her friend. When she arrived she heard people screaming or something and it made her laugh. Two people were cheering when the game wasn't even begon. She saw Emilia sitting and waved at her. It would be nice to sit next to her but she would be rooting for her own house she figured, but they were both friends to Jacob. '' Hi Emilia! I've thought the game already had begon. But two people are just excited I hear.'' Athena said with a laugh. She looked out to see Jacob, she was curious how the game would go. '' It's so cool that Jacob is playing. Isn't it?'' The blonde said to her cousin. Than she looked at the boy who seemed to be yelling for Jacob and Gryffindor. '' GO GO GRYFFINDOR!'' She than shouted and smiled. She really loved being in Gryffindor and she had to laugh about the first year. It was a great spirit she figured.

October had watched April play before, but everything felt different this time. She had foolishly felt resentful of her stepsister's success, rather than supporting the other girl, and her former bitterness had left her entirely unprepared for just how nervous she would feel for April's safety. Carrying the large 'GO APRIL' sign Matt had given her she followed her stepfather into the stands, stomach twisting just at the sight of the pitch. She still wasn't quite over the panic of her own first match, and couldn't imagine how April could seem so calm about all this. At least Matt's anxiousness mirrored her own somewhat. She took a seat with him, giving Professor Kingsley a polite nod in greeting, and waited for the match to begin, though she was soon irritatingly distracted by a couple of younger students kicking up a fuss. The game hadn't even started yet, could all that yelling really be considered necessary? Just as October was contemplating whether she could tell them to quiet down or not, she was distracted by the match starting, holding her sign high and joining the cheering as April kicked off. Yelling and cheering wasn't October's usual style, but it felt the only decent way to support her stepsister. She winced as she saw the beaters immediately aiming for April, the same dread she had felt during her own match creeping back under her skin. What if April got hurt?

Sapphire walked with Kira and Onyx to the stands. Jacob was playing, as was Kira's friend Lauryn. She found them a good spot- well away from the yelling of the two kids. She took a seat and waited for the game. Jacob had enough cheering, she was going to ignore that part.

Kira smiled, sitting next to Sapphire. She still didn't have an intense interest in Quidditch, but her friends were playing and she intended to give her full support.

Onyx had to scootch them apart, but he took a seat between Kira and Sapphire, wrapping an arm around each girls shoulder. He was looking forward to watching the game with both his girls.
