set after Flying Lesson 1

Emori had been fairly disappointed to learn that they weren’t going to fly by the end of the first lesson, she had been looking forward to it so much that the thought that they would be starting slow and easy hadn’t crossed her mind. She was too eager to be up in the air and she wasn’t scared to just fly, even though she wasn’t very skilled at it yet. She couldn’t wait to try it out though, and be somewhat on the same level as her sisters. She wanted to be prepared for next year, but knew that she had to be patient. For now, she had to force herself not to think about it too much, otherwise she would be waiting in agony. That day, to keep herself busy and distracted from these thoughts, she decided she would do some exercise outside, and once she had packed all the necessary items she headed to the lawn, and made sure to be a safe distance from other students in case there was the chance that she would bump into them, quite literally. It would probably be more painful for the other party than for her. Em took out her skipping rope, before beginning her jumps, counting them in her head and creating new achievable goals every time she reached her target.

Flying class had been a bust, leaving Harper slightly disappointed. All they learned was how to summon their brooms, a maneuver that could be accomplished just as easily by simply bending over and picking up the broom. It would've saved a lot of time, and maybe they would have been able to start actually flying. At least Harper had had a chance to spend some more time outdoors. It was way better than sitting in one of the castle's stuffy classrooms. Though it was still early spring, the weather had been nice, and she decided that it would be a waste to spend the rest of the day indoors.

After heading to the castle to pick up her football, Harper made her way outside to practice dribbling a bit. Maybe with a bit of luck, she'd find another person who played. But she was also perfectly content to just run up and down the grounds on her own. She needed the practice, anyways. Harper kicked the ball towards the Great Lawn, where she'd have more room to maneuver. There were some other students, but she didn't mind. Dodging them would make for an even better drill.

For several minutes, Harper successfully zig-zagged across the lawn, avoiding other students and imaginary defenders. She was just making her way back to the castle when she accidentally kicked the ball too hard, sending it towards a lone girl skipping rope. Harper sprinted after the ball and just barely managed to stop it before it rolled into the other girl's path. "Sorry about that!" She hoped she hadn't startled the other girl too badly by abruptly stopping next to her after running towards her at full speed. It struck Harper that this was the first time in a long she'd seen a skip rope. "Is that a normal skipping rope?" she asked curiously. She hadn't ever thought wizards would use a skipping rope for fun. It seemed far too ordinary for a magical world.

((Ack, sorry this took forever. Will hopefully be faster with replies in the future.))
