The Brotherhood Auction

Riley took a deep breath in and looked around at all of the other girls, it was a fierce bidding war for some, Riley hoped she wouldn't have to fight for the letter she wanted. Raising her hand she called out over the crowd "2 galleons on K!" she said, hoping they would hear her, or see her hand, she wasn't the tallest student. Riley wondered who was behind letter K, she wondered if it could be somebody she knew. But she would just have to wait and see.

Jai had looked on in dismay as Sureya had betted on another boy. He'd felt like his heart was going to leap out of his chest when the round of voting ended, but thankfully she hadn't won the auction. Over here, Jai had thought desperately the whole way through, then spent the rest of the time berating himself for wishing she'd chosen him. After all, he wasn't going to the Yule Ball. After Sureya lost, Jai was convinced that no one would vote for him. Now, as he watched two girls bet furiously for him, both at least a few years older, Jai felt right and ready to die. Now he had to go the the Ball and wear a fancy suit and dance with someone taller than him. Finally the torture was over and Dannii Merrythought won him for twenty galleons. Twenty? thought Jai. What an exuberant price for a first year. Nevertheless, she was very pretty although looking a bit worse for wear, and Jai removed his mask and approached her. Suddenly the tall boy found himself speechless and could only blush furiously. Luckily, because of his recent growth spurt, they were at least the same height. "You look a bit ill," he said with a hint of kindness. "Would you like me to take you to the Hospital Wing?". All the other boys who'd been sold were waiting elsewhere, but he figured slipping away could do no harm.

Elspeth decided to try again. "5 galleons on E" She called, wondering who it was. She didn't mind, but what if she got a seventh year? That would be awkward. She grinned. Who cared? She was having fun!

Briony stood awkwardly waiting for V to appear, and she smiled shyly as a very handsome older guy stepped forward and introduced himself as V. "H...Hey." She sputtered nervously, her voice shaking. Oh, how embarrassing. She scolded herself as he went back to the other BrotherHood members. He was certainly the gentleman, and he had succeeded in making her heart skip a few beats, something she had never experienced before.

Dannii was a little thankful when the other girl finally gave up, her throat felt like it was going to implode. Dannii stood there waiting to see if anyone else would make a bet on 'x' and luckily no one did. There seemed to be a few other fights for boys going on to and it was actually very entertaining to watch. Finally Professor Zhefarovich announced that the boys were sold. Dannii bit her lip nervously as she waited for her date to reveal himself. Please don't be to young she begged. How embarrassing would it be when Azerail showed up to Yule Ball with the veela girl and Dannii showed up with some first year. Although she didn't want to go with someone much older either, that would just be no fun for them. Oh merlin no Dannii thought as a first year, all be it a tall first year approached her. Wonderful. Just fan-freaking-tastic she thought unhappily. Dannii gave him a tiny smile when he approached her saying she looked ill. Okay so he wasn't that bad, at least he was her height. "Yeah that would be great" Dannii said placing her own hand on her forehead, "I think my fever rose" she commented, more to herself then to Jai, with a sigh.

Poor Jade, she had lost the bid again, to a younger student, as she found out. She wasn't ready to give up though, she would soon be standing up frequently to bid again. The professor stated the letters for the next group, and she decided K would be a good bet. Though she didn't know why. "4 galleons on K then!"It was her turn to win this time, and she was sure of it.

When his letter was called, Noah had stepped up - more so when his letter was finished with; sold. He removed his mask and flicked back the hood that made up for concealing his hair. His eyes glistened as the lights hit them, his hair shining bright as it revealed itself. A. That was his letter, and some unfortunate soul had bid on him and was stuck with him for the Yule Ball. Brushing a hand over his head, Noah stepped off to the side and gleamed over at the highest bidder on his part; she was pretty. It was lucky that he had landed himself with some one pretty - some one that had the looks to hold their own.

Then again, if the personality factor was a fail, the night was going to be a long one. If there was anything that Noah hated, it was girls who were overly obsessed with them selves. Pet Peeves seemed to add that extra bit of excitement to every ones wonderess lives.

Riley glared slightly at the older girl who bid on letter K also. Raising her hand promptly into the air she called out loudly, hoping this fight would not go on for too long, she was determined to win. Glaring wasn't in her nature, but there was a time and a place and it seemed like now. Afterall why shouldn't she have a great Yule Ball? "6 galleons on K!" she said adimently whilst looking at the opposition.

Arianna walked slowly into the Great Hall on Halloween a little than others. She glanced around at the decorations, but as it was her fifth Halloween, it didn't excite her. Fingering her now blonde hair, she swallowed. It was temporary. She hoped. Not exactly the most terrifying costume, but sh hadn't really been inspired this year. A smile was brought to her lips as she remembered last year. That had been her favourite Halloween of all she had spent here. Gazing around, she spotted a few people that she knew, however it was crowd of people, mostly girls it looked like, around a stage. Arianna moved over for a closer look. She stood herself next Riley, giving her a quick smile. After watching a round of bidding, she gathered what was happening. Though she wasn't keen on 'buying' a date to the Yule Ball, it was all in good fun she figured. She looked over as Riley placed a bid, before raising her hand "6 galleons on H" she spoke. She had no idea why she had just that, however maybe there somebody nice under those hoods.

Jade saw that another girl, whose name she didn't know, was bidding above her. By the looks of her she was very determined to get her own way. It was time for her to move on to a different person after this, "25 galleons for K please!" If she didn't get him now, she would move on. Thats just the way she did it.

Riley looked over at her competition and her hand shot up into the air once more. She knew how to scare the competition away so she looked into her purse and for once she was pleased that her family was so well off. "50 galleons on K" she said proudly, looking over at the older girl. She so badly hoped she would win, for some reason she was drawn to K, a reason she did not yet know.

Kara dressed as a vampire for this occasion, and she stood with Ariah. Kara muttered, "That was for your own good..." Ariah won Levi, the way it should be. Sooner or later, those two would have to get along, or go along. She glanced up at the options, and at first she was drawn to K. But her eyes found the one that she needed to bid for. With a loud voice, she yelled out, "25 galleons for E!" Kara just hoped that she knew what in the world she was doing. She needed to win this, and she didn't know why. Kara waited, her vampire fangs poking the inner part of her lips.

Prodan remembered some of those auctions that muggles gave out, and he mimicked their voices, "All right, we have two galleons for K, five galleons for E, oh, now we have four galleons for K...oh six galleons for K, six galleons for H, back to K, we have twenty-five...no fifty for K! Now we have twenty-five galleons for E! Girls, we still have Boys P and T here without bids! Claim them now!" Prodan took a deep breath and he said, "Wow, that auction thing is hard. We need to go faster! Going once!"

OOC: All right, Boy V - Maxwell Robinson, Boy A - Noah Blakewood, Boy D - Mike Goulding, Boy X - Jai Dionysus, and Boy O - Kyle Sparrow

Elspeth sighed when someone bid against her again. "Fine. Fifteen galleons for T" She called out, playing with one of the muggle guns from her costume. If she knocked the trigger there would be a loud Bang, but nothing else. Still, she was careful not to accidentally pull it.

It seemed like so many girls were against her this evening, so Jade retreated. 50 galleons was far too much for her delicate finances. Sure, she had been saving up for a while, but she wasn't going to waste it on a boy who might end up being a 1st year or something. The decision she made was to bid a high starting bid for one of the boys without competition. Hey, 20 galleons for P here! Her hand high in the air with her bid, she shamefully withdrew it so that the other girl could not come and complain to her later. She was only a quiet girl, and just because she was 7th year, didn't mean she would be trampled by any younger, more immature students, any more than they should let her have her turn.

"All right now! Going twice! We currently have fifty for K, six for H, twenty-five for E, fifteen for T and twenty to P!" Prodan called out. "One more shot for this round before I move on to the next five!"

Sureya got distracted by some other people when she noticed that there was another round of auction going on. She tried earlier to bid and lost. Sureya then thought that it maybe a good idea for her to bid again try her luck this time. She noticed that Jai had been taken by someone else and Hamza she noticed might have still been in there somewhere, so she gave it a try. "25 Galleons on P!" She said very loudly so the person running the auction can hear her.

Cassandra had been sitting there in silence for a great deal of the auction, biding her time. She didn't really want a date anyways so she certainly wasn't going to get in on one of the bid fests that were going to to fifty and sixty galleons. That was of course unless her competitive side got into her again, and who knew maybe if the guy she picked was decent looking and actually wanted to go to the Yule ball with her she may oblige them, granted he wasn't too annoying. Having wandered over to the nearby candy bowls she popped a caramel in her mouth as the latest round began. She heard a voice she had heard bid in the last round for T. Cassandra didn't know what compelled her to do it as she had nothing against the unknown voice but she was curious to see if the girl would try on a third or even fourth guy if she were outbid once more. "Twenty galleons on T!" she called out in a voice slightly more energetic than her usual monotone.

Hilde realized that the letter she was waiting for was up for bids. "Oh wow. I totally missed that!" she said to no one in particular, especially since Ariah had walked away. She had been planning on bidding on her favorite letter, H, this whole time, but was not paying attention. "50 galleons on H please!" she called out, finally getting into the mix. Turning to another student near her, she said with a smile, "H is for Hilde after all."

Jade heard another girl bid against her for P, 25 galleons... It could be a tough one, but this time she would stand up for herself. She wouldn't let this girl outbid her, she had just enough galleons to take over her. "Alright, 35 galleons on P!" She had to be strongminded, or else she would be defeated yet again. You can do this Jade! she told herself.

Sureya was happy with her bid so far when she noticed another girl outbid her. She looked over to see it was the same girl who had bid before and decided that she was going to win this bid, no matter what. Sureya was not a quitter and she was not going to certainly start today. "45 Galleons on P!" said Sureya very loudly so that the Professor can hear, and especially the girl that she was outbidding. Sureya was confident that she was going to win this bid and would not back out until she had won.

Arianna looked over at the girl outbidding her. Raising it to fifty galleons? Either the girl was very rich, or she knew who was under the hood, and wanted him. She hoped that the other girl wouldn't raise price drastically. There was only so much Ari was prepared to spend "Sixty galleons on H" she called.

Hilde was surprised that the other girl bid over her. To her, that was a challenge that she was willing to take -- and she only could hope that the boy in the hood was worth it. "Seventy five galleons on H," she said knowing that money wasn't an object for her. She was keeping her fingers cossed that the boy wasn't a first year or a real dork.

The competitive side of Arianna was coming out. It was from her mother, she kneww. All those parents's races at school athletics that she just had to win. It was embarrasing at times. She was caught up in the game, and she raised her hand once more "80 Galleons on H" she spoke. After the words had been spoken, she felt a little stupid. Spending so much money on a boy? She wasn't quite sure what had gotten into her. She resolved that that would be her last bid, and by the looks of the other girl, she would lose. You won't be losing 80 Galleons though she reminded herself.

Hilde gave a low chuckle. She smirked at the girl, then raised her hand again. "I bid 55 Galleons on K then," she said, a you owe me look going between her and the girl that she was competing against. It looked to her like the girl was desperate to get a date with that particular faceless boy. The one she moved her bidding on to had competition, but she hoped that they would not be able to outbid her. Hilde wasn't sure who was under the mask, but hoped he wasn't a first year or someone that she didn't like.
