Hi all! It's my turn for a BWU and I've got quite a bit to get mentioned so let's start!

Halloween
The Halloween feast sure was fun!
Our lovely judges are working on deciding who to crown as winners of our costume contest, so expect to see those results soon!
Quidditch!
The second match of the year found Gryffindor and Ravenclaw taking to the pitch. The Beaters had a field day this time around, but Gryffindor still managed to pull out the victory.
Can't wait to see how the rest of the season goes!

God modding
Let's get serious for a moment. God modding is ,and as everyone should know, a big no-no on HNZ.
As we mention in the site rules, "You may control your character and nobody else's. You may not determine another person's character's actions without their explicit permission. (To do so without permission is known as 'Godmodding')"
So while you can perhaps lean in for a kiss, you can't confirm if it lands. Or you can throw a punch at someone but can't be sure you don't miss. You also can't know another character's motivations or reason for missing an event unless the other RPer has explicitly mentioned it in roleplay.
If you're wanting to go a step further in your roleplay and include another character's response to an action you have your character performs, you must reach out to the other RPer and get their permission to describe any of their actions. And your post should be accompanied by a 'godmod approved' so that all RPers are aware there was a conversation and agreement between those involved.

Let's talk about character development
A task that admin take very seriously is when individuals apply to portray certain physical or mental health conditions. When we get these applications, we want to ensure the RPer has more than just a baseline understanding of the condition they're planning to portray, that they're showing us a sense of responsibility in their portrayal of this condition in the application, and, of equal importance, that they're portraying a whole character with traits/attributes outside of this condition. A character should be the sum of many things, not have the entirety of their character only focused on one aspect of them.
Although we don't require an application to have a character that belongs to a specific culture or community, we hope you'll consider taking some of the points mentioned above and apply them to your character development. Keep in mind that when you choose to portray a character as belonging to a specific culture or community, that there are members who are going to be reading your roleplays who may identify as part of that community or culture.

Donna's life has been just a little too busy lately, and for the foreseeable future, she'll be taking a break as a GM. You may see her around still RPing but please help us make her time here enjoyable by not going to her with any GMing questions. She'll be back on board eventually, and until then we will miss her and want to extend our greatest thanks for all of her hard work as a member of site staff.
