Rory knew that breaking up with Therese had been the right thing to do. He had even likely done it in a better way than the last time he’d broken up with someone, actually sat with them and calmly spoken to them, rather than breaking it off quickly and at a school event meant for couples. The slytherin missed her a little, though certainly not enough that he would want to get back with her. Just there was a slight lingering in his mind on her. The sense of slight injustice that other people could get together with anyone with the idea that it would be forever and he wouldn’t have the choice in the matter really. He didn’t necessarily care about blood status with a girl, the thought only entered his mind when he thought of the future. However, it was all done, and Rory just had to focus on the future. The one thing he did miss was the flirting with her and with the other girls he always flirted with. It never meant anything, but it was just a little boring after a while. The reaction of everyone upon his flirting and no one else’s was getting dull. It wasn’t his fault they felt fragile in their own relationships and simple smirk and comment from him caused them all to erupt. Well, maybe he could just not do that, but that was half the fun of the school.

The slytherin was sat in the relatively empty student lounge, a few other students were lingering around at the near curfew time. Rory had been doing some light reading, but mostly just letting himself be completely lost in thought. He was swinging lightly in the chair, and staring into the distance. There was school work in front of him, half complete and poorly put together homework that was clearly his own attempts to stay on top of the NEWT work he had, but really, that mattered as little as any possible girlfriend, come the end of the term, come the end of his school, no matter what he had gathered he would leave all of it behind and go home to continue his life properly. Yet there he was trying at it, even if it didn’t really matter in the end. His mind wasn’t on the work in front of him, but he was making no moves to tidy it up and head back to the common room. He was trying to stay out of trouble, but god was that hard when everyone in Hogwarts was just the absolute worst.

Amber was very happy with her current school life. She had amazing friends, a wonderful girlfriend, interesting subjects, and she enjoyed being a prefect very much. It was fun to work on Heta Omega things with Evelyn or to chat to Flavio about homework. As far as Amber was concerned, her sixth year was quite good. It was definitely less stressful than her OWL year had been, and she was happy to have done well on her exams at the end of last semester. But that didn't mean she had no work to do. The start of a new semester was always important, because it meant preparing for a range of subjects she hadn't studied in a while. Thankfully, she wasn't picking up any new classes, so at least the subjects were familiar to her.

With her Runes book under her arm, she headed into the student lounge to do a bit of reading on the subjects they had covered last year, just so she would be on top of things for the new semester. At a nearby table, only one person was sitting who seemed to be having the same idea. School work was scattered over the table, and it wasn't until Amber approached that she noticed who it was. Amber tensed, frowning immediately. Rory Fergusson was certainly one of the least pleasant people in her year. She still remembered how angry she had been when she heard he had been copying Flavio's homework, and couldn't understand why the Ravenclaw was still friends with him. The same went for Evelyn. But at the same time, Amber didn't like disliking people. And everything that had passed between them had been years ago. Maybe it was time to let some things go, before they became adults and graduated. With a small sigh, she took a seat at the same table. "Hello Rory, what are you studying?" She asked politely, though she couldn't help but notice his attention didn't seem to be on his work. She watched him closely for a reaction, wondering if he would recognize the olive branch in her casual greeting, and if he would take it.

Lost in his own thoughts, Rory hadn’t noticed anyone approaching, much less that it was Amber, someone he didn’t like….or well, who didn’t like him. He didn’t really care, after all, it had been years since they’d last argued and he would still claim that she had overreacted each time she had gotten angry at him for it. The slytherin looked at her and then down at his notes, the studying he had attempted to be doing. His gaze fixed upon her, why did she want to know why did she care, why were people caring about what he was doing. Why did she care what he was studying, why was she even asking about it. ”Doesnnae matter,” He replied with a tired groan, he could figure she was just being nice about it, but he wasn’t particularly in the mood for being nice. He couldn’t even get into a fight because he didn’t want to deal with Styx if it came to it.

”Isnae even revision, just hamework,” Rory added with a little dismissive motion with his hand, ”Why ye askin’?” he came across rather defensive as he said it, but Rory would just claim it to be his accent. He didn’t really mean to sound too defensive, maybe he also did because this was Amber and she didn’t like him much at all and everything he did was just wrong to her. He could admit he had liked annoying her but he didn’t care much now. He could assume she probably just thought he was copying most of it from other people, that he wasn’t doing his own work, and he could assume she wasn’t trying to be nice and polite to him, but looking for any excuse to make him lose house points. Which in turn would get him murdered by Styx, which he assumed she would probably be quite happy about.

The moment the boy opened his mouth, Amber knew this had been a waste of time. Why had she expected him to be nicer now? Because he was older now? Because Evelyn liked him? Amber seriously didn't know what Evelyn saw in the boy. Did she think him handsome? Amber had realized over the past year that she really was only attracted to girls, so she didn't think he was all that special. Objectively, she could see he wasn't bad looking, but that was as far as she would go. But Evelyn was dating Lucas, so she didn't think anything like that had anything to do with it. Maybe Rory was just less awful to her, and Evelyn hadn't seen his bad side. That would explain a lot. "I know it doesn't matter, I'm just trying to make conversation." She said primly, unrolling a piece of parchment and placing her book on top of it so it wouldn't immediately roll up again. "We're going to be sharing a classroom for the next two years. It seems silly to stay caught up in some sort of fight from years ago. We were little kids back then." And, as far as Amber knew, Flavio no longer did his homework, so she had no reason to be angry at Rory anymore as long as she ignored his rude behavior.]. She wondered what his grades were like. Really, she didn't know much about the boy. "I have no nefarious reasons for asking you about your studying habits, you can relax." She added with a slight smile, hoping it would break the boy's defenses down a bit. But if he continued to be weird and dismissive, she would just ignore him and go on with her own work. She wasn't that invested in making up with Rory Fergusson. It would just be nice to graduate without any childish drama following her around.

Evelyn decided to pay a visit at one of her most favorite places at Hogwarts. It was a place where she had made a lot of friends. The blonde always loved coming to the student lounge, everyone did just their thing and seemed to respect that. When she pushed the door open and closed it again afterwards she turned around and scanned the room with her blue eyes. She could see if her friends were there, mostly they were or perhaps there were still new people to meet. When she walked a bit further she noticed Amber sitting at a table and when she looked further she noticed Rory sitting there closeby. Evelyn knew that Amber didn't liked Rory and she didn't blamed her. She and Rory had started at the wrong feet too, but Evelyn saw him as one of her friends. He was there in his own way when she was rejected and felt bad. The blonde walked towards the table with a book inside of her hand. Perhaps they could study together, because it seemed that they were doing that. When she got closer she smiled and looked at both. '' Hey guys!'' The blonde said with a smile and put her book on the table and went sitting next to Amber.
'' So it's study time again right? How are things going here?'' Evelyn asked while looking from Amber to Rory and back. Perhaps she could try and let Amber see that Rory could be fun to hang out too. She had no idea what Rory thought of Amber though, but she couldn't imagine someone that would not like one of her best friends. She was just the perfect friend and one of the most sweet persons she knew.

Rory couldn’t understand why people were suddenly taking an interest in what he was doing, why they were so curious about what he was doing. At the very least, she was just trying to make conversation unlike others who just seemed to still be having a go at him, or just being weird towards him. Perhaps she was just being genuine with him, but honestly Rory had no way to know or believe that, it wasn’t like she’d ever been particularly nice to him, so why start now, ”Aye, forgive me if ah dinnae trust ye,” Rory didn’t know why now of all moments she was picking to be nice and to forget all about all that had ever happened between them prior to this. She was a prefect too now, holding more above his head. He didn’t mind if she sat and studied there, his mind was still else where and he wasn’t paying attention to his books and his own notes, so she could do whatever she wanted. He made no more statements and barely glanced at her.

He had been maybe about to consider apologising for his behaviour, when Evelyn joined them. He had to admit it was an odd venn diagram of friends that both he and Amber shared despite the fact that they themselves had never gotten along. He didn’t particularly feel in the mood for Evelyn, if she didn’t mind maybe him not flirting with her, it would be fine. He did however smile at Evelyn, ”They’re goin’” the boy replied with the same charming smile he always had for Evelyn and a brief gesture with his hand to the books and revision he wasn’t doing. The homework he had not yet completed. He didn’t want to admit, especially not now that his mind had wondered so much but the reason it had wondered away from the homework presently in front of him was because he was stuck. There was no way he would admit that, to either girl who he was now with, ”Good break Evelyn?” Rory asked her with a smile, before looking to Amber, ”And ye Amber?” he was a little less friendly with her than he was with Evelyn, but there was a clear effort to be nice.

Amber sighed softly when Rory told her he didn't trust her. Was he still under the impression she had been in the wrong all those years ago? There was no universe in which making someone else do your homework was not a bad thing to do, so Amber still felt justified for her anger back then. Sure, she could have handled it better, but she definitely hadn't acted without reason. "Well, that's all a long time ago. We're nearly adults, I think it's time we leave that sort of thing in the past, don't you?" Amber looked over at her book, frowning slightly at the more complicated Runes spread they were covering in sixth year. Hopefully she would understand it soon. Rory didn't take that subject, so she couldn't ask him for help.

Evelyn joined them, and while Amber was happy to see her friend she was a little nervous too. She had heard Rory flirted with Evelyn, which would probably grate on her if it went on right in front of her nose. Evelyn should discourage such behavior, especially because she had a boyfriend. She tensed a little, but nodded at Evelyn in greeting. "Hi, it's going okay. I'm just looking over Ancient Runes for the coming semester." She said with a small shrug. "It's good to be prepared." Rory asked Evelyn if she had a good break, and Amber expected to be pretty much ignored by him. It surprised her when he asked her about her break as well. Amber looked over and smiled. "My break was pretty good, I worked a bit which kept my busy." The store Rory worked at wasn't too far from Gladrags, but she had the feeling the firstie rush wasn't starting yet at Ollivander's. "How about you? Did you go to Scotland?" She asked him curiously, wondering if Rory's family lived out of the country or not.

Evelyn smiled as Rory and Amber seemed to be talking to eachother. The blonde knew that Amber didn't liked Rory that much and sometimes she couldn't blame her. Rory was a special kind of person and when Evelyn had met him they didn't matched at all. But Evelyn tried to really get to know someone before judging it was something she thought of as important. But it was harder than she thought. With Zenia she didn't even want to put effort in it. But more because of that such a thing had to come from two sides, and Zenia was never going to do that. Evelyn smiled at Rory and was glad that things were fine. The same for Amber. '' My break was fine. Didn't done that much, just relaxing and lots of shopping and working. That's always good.'' Evelyn said with a bright smile. Than she looked at Amber and she knew Amber was always trying her best. Sometimes Evelyn was jealous of how smart her friend was. Amber got good grades and she was a perfect student. Evelyn didn't understood it how she could not make mistakes in her life. She knew that Amber and November couldn't got along a while back but that had changed too she thought. '' It's always good to be prepared I don't really like Ancient Runes that much anymore. I did when Kingsley gave it.'' Perhaps she just wanted to impress her head of house and in that time she dated Noah still. But Evelyn had really enjoyed those lessons, but now her focus was with Charms and Muggle Studies, those were her favorite subjects.
