Mania had had long enough of a summer with her family, now that there were twins too and one of them was a son it had been even more of a hassle. Callie had stayed over and after she'd left Nia's mum had made sure to give Mania a lecture about her behaviour and bad influence on her perfectly proper friend. She'd wanted to roll her eyes and say something back but instead she'd just lowered her head in shame. It was now a few days before they'd go back to school and Mania had no intentions of staying with her parents anymore so she'd asked them to take her to Obsidian Harbour for school shopping, she didn't need anything but they didn't need to know that and if they did know they hadn't said anything.

Nia had her trunk with her and she'd dipped from her parents, leaving her younger sister Eris to tell them she'd be going to a friends house, she'd meet Gaia at the platform. Mania arrived at the apartment that was the address she had dug up, from who? A smart person never reveals her sources, duh. Knocking on the door she waited patiently for someone to open. Merlin she hoped this was the right place, if not she'd have to just dip as soon as possible.

"Dad there's someone at the door, can I go check?" He saw his dad look up from where he was currently feeding the snakes and nod. They had to be careful when feeding because it was the one time the snakes forgot they could all talk to each other and just started fighting if they didn’t get the specific food they wanted. Tinsel liked bird, Glimmer liked Rats and Ace, well, they still hadn’t quite worked out the favourite there, but at least there was eating and food. He headed over to the door, the series of rapid knocks making him think there might have been some kind of a problem. He had no idea what he was about to open the door too, but when he opened it, he was both surprised and glad to see Mania on the other end. “Oh, Hey! I didn’t think I’d see you here,” he said, before realising he’d been hissing at her. He shook his head. “Sorry, hi, what are you doing here?” he noticed she look like she had her trunk, but he wasn’t sure why she would be here, he was pretty sure she didn’t live around here, and why would she need her trunk for that anyway?​

Mania was very patient in her waiting, rapidly knocking and tapping her foot on the ground, when someone opened the door. A smile formed on her face as she looked at Finley, who was now hissing at her? Well that was a new response. As the boy finally spoke the common language Nia grinned even wider. "Hey! I came to stay with you guys for a few days! I'm sick of my parents complaints so I said I needed to do school shopping in Obsidian, they took me here gladly and then I dipped said I'd go to a friends house and that I'd meet Gaia at the platform for the train." She explained, her speech faster than normal. "So technically I am homeless now until we go back to school so you guys get a new roommate!" Mania concluded with a grin, pushing past Finley inside. "Oh also like HI I MISSED YOU!" She suddenly said, turning around and attacking him with a big hug. Merlin it was good to see him.

Finley blinked, struggling a little to keep up with what his whirlwind of a friend was saying. It was so quick he wasn’t even sure it was in english for a moment before he managed to catch on. “You… what?” he said, before she was able to breeze past him like she owned the place. That was Mania alright. He thought for a second that maybe she’d been possessed by something, but he wasn’t going to say no to her, she was his bestfriend she could practically do no wrong in his eyes. He stepped into her hug and grinned. “Whoa - hi! Missed you too,” he said, though it was slightly muffled against her hair. “You could’ve at least warned me you were gonna barge into my life again like a tornado. I’d have prepared dad.” He looked over to where his dad was now looking up from the living room and heading over. He could hear the snakes starting to hiss more aggressively, this time not as language but as challenges. “Uh, you might want to avoid the snake room, by the way. Feeding time. It’s basically a gladiator match in there.”​

Zennon headed up from the hallway, knowing it was best to leave the snakes to themselves for a bit, especially now with a guest in the room. At first he had expected it might have been Rowan, perhaps Isaak, and then maybe Arvel, he hadn’t expected that girl from St Mungo’s, or for her to be apparently Finley’s friend? Did his son tell him nothing? “Did I just hear someone declare themselves homeless and move in?” He eyed the girl with a raised brow, he knew better than to ask these kind of questions to kids, and so he just plastered on a smile and grinned. “Well, welcome, you’re lucky i recently replaced the mattress because the last one was getting very old, so there is actually some space for you,” he said, gesturing down the hall to the second room. “It’s a bit small, it’s for guests who usually stay short term, but it should be enough, let me know if you need more space and we can see if there’s anything more we can do.” it wasn’t long until they would be heading to school though she he figured it would be fine. He didn’t want to say anything in front of Finley, but he would talk to Mania later about whether or not he should be contacting her parents. He didn’t want them to consider him a kidnapper after all, and it really didn’t seem like they knew where she was. “Alright then, Mania the Nomad, have you had lunch? Welcome to the circus.” There was a self stirring potion bubbling in the corner, Finley’s toy dragon flying around their heads and the bookshelves were currently rearranging themselves as they liked to do on occassion. A bit of a disorganised mess, but it was home.​
