Ava Davershire welcomed the students entering the Great Hall with a warm smile. The holidays had flown by, and the Headmistress couldn't believe that it was time for another year of school to start. The Sorting Ceremony was something Ava loved attending, so she made sure the Hall looked immaculate. The roof was, as always, charmed, the stars twinkling above the student's heads. The roaring fires on each end of the Hall kept the large room warm and homely, the candles flickering above the tables made the room even more magical.
Ava approached the podium, the chatter in the Hall quickly dying out. "Hello all, and welcome to another year at Hogwarts." Ava started off happily. "Welcome to all our new students, this will be your home for the next seven years - if you treat it well, it will treat you well. And welcome back to all our old students, it's great to see you all again!" Ava stated smiling. "A reminder to all that the Forbidden Forest is strictly out of bounds, and any rule breakers will be punished." Her blue eyes studied the new faces in front of her, some looking nervous, some excited, others indifferent. "First years, when your name is called, please come and sit here," Ava started, gesturing to the stool "And I will place the Sorting Hat on your head. The Sorting Hat will decide where you will be staying for your school years. When it's made it's decision, you may go and sit with you new House." Ava grinned, excited to get the year started.

OOCOut of Character:
As stated in the Information about Sorting thread, you must fill out the sorting form entirely properly and fill in an RP as exemplified in the post. If your RP does not leave room for the sorting hat to sort you: you will not be sorted. If the sorting hat does not receive your sorting form: you will not be sorted. Follow instructions and: you will be sorted.

You can edit your post once you are sorted, but be sure that you only reply to this topic once and it is through the sorting form provided. Thank you.

It comes but once, but once each year,
When, I, the sorting hat appear.
I appear to sort the latest batch,
To look within and find a match.
To seek the person who does reside,
Beneath the skin, deep down inside.

Rest assured, I do take care,
To avoid mistakes and always be fair,
Because I know my duty is very great,
The decisions I make affecting fate.
So do not approach with a sense of fear,
Embarrassed when seated upon your rear.
And when I’m placed upon your head,
Your thoughts should not be full of dread.
Approach with confidence, pure and true,
Give me the chance to honour you.

Those who step forth brave with pride,
Likely in Gryffindor they will reside.
Fire and Lion, scarlet and gold,
A house of friends, strong and bold.

Hard working kids who value fair play,
May find that Hufflepuff is where they stay.
The Earth and Badger, yellow and black.
Loyalty and tolerance, keep them on track.

Creativity and intelligence will help some soar,
Above the rest to Ravenclaw’s door.
Air and Eagle, bronze and blue.
The wisdom to make dreams come true.

And finally those, resourceful and cunning,
Ambitious and powerful are in the running.
They’ll join the house of silver and green,
Where water and serpents stage the scene.

Now, one last thing, please take heed,
Here is some advice that you may need.
This school has grown in a short time,
So have mistakes and heinous crime.
A challenge to all present, to look within,
No matter the house I've placed you in.
To do your best and persevere,
To use your strengths and face your fear.

The time has come, no more delay,
I call you forth, come on, let’s play

Damianos Styx was unsure about how he felt while he was here. Merging into the group, he noticed a few family members here, most with the same birthday. He did not see Prodan’s girl anywhere, so he must have shipped her to Durmstrang. Damianos would have loved to go there, but apparently, he would have to stay with the family and with his dad, who was the Slytherin Head of House. Sighing, he found his twin brother before giving him a nod. Nicolas had their father’s eyes while Damianos had his mother’s golden eyes. They appeared to be cold and piercing despite the warm color that was associated with gold. Damianos shifted in his position as he looked up at the Headmistress who started the sorting ceremony. Since his last name began with an S, he knew that he would be one the latter ones, but not necessarily last. It had been a while since a Styx was sorted. More so with a Snow, from what he had heard. And this year, there were four of them. All looked similar but different in their own way. Damianos had a lot of siblings, but they had more. He did not sympathize with them at all.

Upon hearing his name, Damianos stepped up to the stool and had a seat. His golden eyes rested on Nicolas, wondering what house he would be sorted into. Needless to say, it might be different from his. Would he be a Slytherin like many others in his family, or would he be different? Either way, he did not care since he wanted this to be done and over with. He hated being up here, and the center of attention. Regardless, the hat will do everything in due time. Damianos was not impatient with this matter. Instead, he inhaled and closed his eyes to await the verdict.

Nicolas really hoped that he wasn't sorted in the same house as his twin was. If that was the way things swung, then oh well. But it would be nice to get away from his brother for a little while. Nicolas was tired of his brother always hogging the spotlight with his so called 'awesomeness'. Everyone just loved Damianos and how wonderful he was. He was smarter, stronger, and just an overall better person than Nicolas was. Who wouldn't want to get away from that? Besides Damianos being a total spotlight hogger, he could be such a bore sometimes. Nicolas really liked to laugh and have fun, but Damianos was always studying or keeping to himself. Hopefully Hogwarts would be a change for the both of them! Their father was the Slytherin Head of House and the Defense Against Arts Professor though, so it wasn't like he could have too much fun. Entering into the Great Hall, Nicolas glanced around curiously. So this was where his elder siblings and his father disappeared to every school year! Now it was his turn to experience Hogwarts! The only thing the young Styx could hope for was that his brother wouldn't run the experience too much for him.

They group gathered around a stool and an old looking hat. That must be the hat that was supposed to sort the whole lot of them! Since his last name started with an S, he knew he had to wait a little while. The sad part was, when it came to sorting, he was after his brother too! "Just another thing he beats me at." Nicolas thought to himself darkly. He glanced at Damianos for a brief moment, before he returned his gaze to the student currently being sorted into their house. After some time, it was his turn, and Nicolas grinned. He was afraid to make eye contact with his father during the whole process, because if he managed to be sorted into a House his father wasn't so fond of, he was sure that he'd never live that one down. Waiting, Nicolas wondered which house the hat was going to place him into. Would it be in the same one as his brother?

Lucien Snow stood tall and proud, not even a small smile across his face. His mother ended up married to his father's brother which was fairly strange. He did not care though, as long as he was happy, and he was left the hell alone. He did not really stand next to his siblings, but he could see them and hear them speak. His blonde hair reflected that of his parents, and most of his half siblings. His silver eyes were definitely Zhefarovich. He wondered what his father would have thought if he were alive today. Instead, he went crazy and got himself killed. Lucien did not appreciate that at all. He wanted his father. He felt like he was left out from the other half-siblings. Then again, he heard the tale and tale again on how Jean Snow was almost lost in birth, since there was a cord wrapped around his neck, from him. Lucien smirked a bit about that, but he would protect his brother to the best of his ability, same with his twin sisters that looked just alike. Only difference was their eyes. That was the only way to tell them apart. Then again, it was the only way to tell him and Jean apart.

Looking up, he heard his name called out. He was the last of his siblings to be sorted, thanks to the alphabet. He walked up to the stool and plopped down. He felt the hat sitting on his blonde hair not a moment later. His impatience wanted to kick in, but he forced it down as much as he possibly could. He did not want to make the hat too chatty and force this process any longer than it needs to be. He sighed and waited for the house to be called. He truly did not care where he was at. His family were sort of Slytherin oriented. His father was a Slytherin and his mom went to Beauxbatons. As a Snow and a Zhefarovich, there was truly no telling where his fate rested.

Jakobe Hitachiin was very rarely this happy. That wasn't to say that he wasn't a happy person, quite the opposite. Jakobe is really quite a happy person, he likes to play games and eat lots of sugary substances, mostly icecream and chocolate he can never get enough of those. Icecream was the most amazing stuff ever invented, he wasn't sure who first made it, but he was glad for that person because now he could eat ice cream all the time. Ice cream and chocolate. He didn't know who made chocolate either, but he loved that person too. Jakobe sighed as he walked into the Great Hall. Not out of boredom are sorrow, but out of awe. His house was big, the manor that he lived in with his family, but it wasn't a castle by any definition, he could definitely get used to living in a castle. Castle's were so cool.

"Hitachiin, Jakobe"

Jakobe looked around, just to be extra sure that there wasn't any other, Jakobe's with his name, and finding none, he slowly stepped forward, up the stairs and too the stool. He sat on the stool quickly and looked out at the crowd of people. He was a little nervous to be perfectly honest. He wasn't used to being on show. But that didn't matter right now, at the moment, the important thing was where the hat was going to put him. He wondered what kind of traits he had to put him in which house. He never much paid much attention to that really, he always let his parents and older siblings dictate his life, he supposed that wasn't going to happen anymore, not when he was Merlin knew home many millions of miles away from home.

Ivaylo Zhefarovich-Dolohov truly felt angry, thrown away and rejected all because of who his mother was. His father favored his other half-siblings, all of them. Instead, he was raised mostly by his aunt named Rayna. It was the same way with Vixen, but her father loved her. Him? Ivaylo was unsure, but he would assert his power, one way or another. He craved it. He needed to show everyone that he did have a strong mix of blood in his system. His great-grandfather was the infamous Antonin Dolohov. He had some Carrow blood in there, but he did not mention that much. He had great potential. This might be the place to show it off, especially to the future Patriarch that taught here, who was incidentally his half-brother. Same with the Potions professor. It was really awkward, but he did not really care either way. He walked in, his head somewhat up as if he were proud to be there when in reality, he wanted to be in Durmstrang or even home schooled. Vixen was sitting in the Slytherin table where he nodded once to her before looking at the Headmistress with a grimace. Ugh, what sort of place was this? He stuffed his hands into his pockets and he waited to be sorted.

It seemed like ages before his name was called. He walked his way to the front and flopped down on the stool while the sorting hat went upon his head. Truth be told, Ivaylo knew nothing about the houses so he did not care where he went. As long as he can prove himself worthy of the house and his family. That was all he wanted, and he needed to fulfill that. He was more determined than ever to prove his worth, since most of his life, he felt like he did not have much despite getting whatever he asked for.

Scarlet entered the Great Halls of Hogwarts New Zealand for the first time, her eyes widening in amazement and bewilderment. This was her first time walking into a large enchanted structure after all, and it was oh so magical. Of course, that was too be expected from a magic school but it completely entranced the young witch nevertheless. She was not a muggle-born, in fact, she knew quite a few things about magic thanks to her brothers being able to go to Durmstrang, but she had grown up in a muggle community and magically-enhanced stuff would never fail to amaze her, just like now when she had entered together with all the other first years who were gathered for the known sorting ceremony of the school. She never did have much interest in the occasion, and she really had next to no idea on the purpose of the said ceremony, but it was school policy, so she pretty much respected it.

One by one, names were called. Slowly, the number of students within the group of youngsters lessened. Scarlet thought her name was still quite far off. Well, that was until she had heard her name being called, "Scarlet Joussane!" The French girl gulped inaudibly and made her way to the stool on the platform. A hat was raised and she sat on the stood before the said magical hat was placed on her head. She knew it would speak. How could it not? It would speak every time a student was called and so she was pretty much sure it would do the same for her. Unless of course it was also a bully and would do a practical joke or a prank on her by refraining from speaking. Oh dear Merlin! She hoped not. "I would really appreciate it if you speak like you did with everybody else before me," she whispered under her breath whilst she waited for the Sorting Hat to speaking, her mind nearly filled with thoughts of the probability of large number of bullies within the school.

"I have never not sorted a student. You need to trust people and things more: the whole world isn't out to trick you. Perhaps you'll learn some of that around the good people of HUFFLEPUFF!"

"Lucy stop fidgeting and stand up straight. We'll look more professional if we do this!" Katrina hissed, pressing a hand onto her sister's back, attempting to get the young girl to stand straight and look proud to be here. If it was one thing Katrina hated, it was the way her sister attempted to make herself look small. No matter how much she tried, the fact that she was already a good three inches taller than most of the unsorted students, was going to work against her immensely. Katrina was probably the most motherly of her siblings, and it was for a good reason that she was. When the four of them were together, chaos tended to ensue, and Katrina hated any sort of chaos. The young blonde loved to have things under control and in an organized fashion. It might make her appear as if she was a control freak, or suffering from OCD, but she didn't care. So what if she was? It wasn't like she could control the way that she was! Besides, someone needed to keep her siblings in line! What would their mother think if they suddenly got out of control and started causing problems? Katrina didn't want to deal with getting into trouble because of them anymore!

Katrina tried her best to make sure that she didn't bump into any of the other students, the last thing she wanted was someone she didn't know touching her. It wasn't like she was scared of germs or anything; she just preferred that people kept their distance from her until she knew them on a personal level. The group of students, Katrina included, all gathered around a stool and a hat, and were told that this is where they were going to be sorted into their houses. Katrina sighed and remained straight and stiff. Hopefully this would go fast. Katrina just wanted to be within the comfort of her belongings and away from these others kids. When it was Katrina's turn to be sorted, she stiffly walked her way up to the stool and sat down. She had to resist the urge to ask if she could put the hat on herself and merely bit her lip as she awaited the hats decision.

Lucretia watched her sister with tired eyes before she nodded and attempted to straighten herself. As long as Katrina was happy and not nagging at her, she would do whatever her younger sister asked of her. Lucretia was much too shy to tell her sister that she just wanted to be left alone, so she often just did as she was told. It was better that getting her all riled up and upset with everyone. Wide eyes took in the Great Hall around her, and Lucretia swallowed the lump in her throat. This was so scary. Mostly because all eyes were on her, and Lucretia didn't like a lot of attention to be on her. She was too shy to even talk to kids she has known all of her life, how did they expect her to get up in front of everyone and act like it didn't bother her? Lucretia followed closely behind her siblings and prayed the whole time that she wouldn’t have too many kids staring her down once she got up there. Not that she could blame them if they did stare though, they were probably eager to see where she was going to be sorted. Not that she was going to be much of an asset to any house

Lucretia stopped walking once the group was situated around an old stool and hat. Her eyes wearily took them both in before she swallowed another lump stuck within her throat. Her last name started with an S so she had a little bit more time to wait before it was her turn. As each and every student was sorted into their house, she grew a little bit more nervous. Pretty soon it was her time to be sorted, and Lucretia suddenly felt like she was going to throw up. Keeping her eyes averted to the ground and approached he stool. "I wish everyone would stop staring at me. It's not all that exciting anyways." Lucretia thought to herself just before the hat was placed onto her head. Lucretia figured that the hat knew exactly where she belonged, and she was going to trust the decision it made. Just so long as she could get off this freaking stool soon!

Alex glanced around the Great Hall as he, and the rest of the new first years, were led through to the Sorting Hat. This was a day filled with mixed feelings for him, as he was finally attending the school that he'd been told about for most of his life growing up. When he had received his letter, he hadn't known what to think. It was the happiest day of his life so far, and he was still very excited for what was happening at this very moment. He looked around at all of the people who were also in the room, surrounding them all, the people who were returning to Hogwarts for the rest of their years of magical education. This would be his first, and he was so impatient for it to begin. Names started being called, and he sat here waiting for his to be called. Some were sorted into Gryffindor, others Slytherin, and some Hufflepuff. Some had disappointing looks on their faces, and others were happy with the decisions. Next was him.

"Jeffreys, Alex."

Alex smiled very widely at the call of his name, it was now his moment to be told what direction he would be led into at this school. Your house was like your family here, and he would have to be able to trust his family. He sighed, and placed the hat on his head. The decision wasn't in his hands anymore.

Mason Robert Greene walked into the Great Hall, his brown eyes wide with anticipation. He could not wait to be sorted! Maybe he would be in Gryffindor with his slightly older twin brother. He looked around to see if he could find Matt, and sure enough, there he was, sitting at the Gryffindor table. He noticed that there was this really pretty blonde girl next to him. He wondered if that was Belladonna. He never mentioned how enchanting she looked. But he did not know if that was indeed her or not. So, he looked forward at some of the other first years. He was perhaps the oldest, since his birthday was on September second. He hated that his birthday was the next day after his brother. Time zones really messed that up! If they were born in another time zone, they would have been sorted on the right day. He sighed and he waited patiently. The hat started to speak and Mason looked at it in disbelief. That was so cool! Do other objects talk too? Like tables and stuff? He would have to ask Matt since Matt had one extra year ahead of him in learning and magic. It would be so neat.

"Greene, Mason!" a voice spoke out, which made Mason all that more eager to go up there and get sorted. Walking up to the stool seemed like it was taking forever. He plopped down, only to accidentally miss and fall off, landing on his rear. "Sorry, so sorry!" Mason got back on the stool this time, his excitement almost causing him to shake with delight. He felt the hat placed on his head and he immediately started the questions, 'So, you are going to sort me? Would you be so awesome and kind to put me with my brother, Matt and that pretty girl, Belladonna? But if I don't belong there, that's okay too. This is all just so new and I should probably shut up now and let you do your thing.' Mason almost blushed a bright red as he thought this. He fell silent and awaited the verdict.

"I think you'll be pleased to find that there are pretty girls in all of the houses. And you'll meet ones who are perhaps some of the nicest girls during your tenure in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Joanna was so glad that the day of sorting was finally here. She hadn't been out of the Snow Manor in what seemed like forever and she was getting sick of seeing the same old four walls and same people everyday, so she was up for a new adventure. She knew that she would have to see some familiar faces, her siblings, but she planned on staying as far away from them as possible. She knew she was different from them and they knew it too. Whenever she thought about it, her blood boiled. She didn't ask to be born with muggle blood in her veins but they was something's that couldn't be changed, unfortunately. Entering the Great Hall with the new students Joanna straightened herself up and walked tall and proud between the tables filled with current students of the school, she may hate her muggle blood but she wasn't going to let that show to people around her, she was brought up to be a proper young lady and she was going to try her best to maintain that image.

As the Headmistress talked to the students Joanna looked around, the Great Hall was very grand and quite beautiful. As she looked around she saw some of her family members, she didn't let her eyes fall on them for too long as she knew they wouldn't give her the same courtesy. This didn't bother her though, she didn't see or talk to them much at home so this would be just like that. She wondered what houses they would be sorted into, neither of their parents had gone to this school, heck her own father didn't go to a magic school - she shuddered as she thought about it. The only ray of sunshine from her father's family was her aunt, Patricia Styx, who was the only family member from that side that Joanna talked too as she actually had magical blood in her veins. As names started to get called out Joanna was glad she didn't have to wait long to hear what her verdict was going to be, she really didn't know what house she would be sorted into, so as she made her way up to the stool and sorting hat when her name was called she was a slight bit nervous but didn't let it show. Taking her seat she felt the sorting hat being placed her head and scanned the crowd of people in front of her, trying to hide her fears.

"Hmm, I think - at the heart of it all - you're certainly a SLYTHERIN!"

Littlemonster felt overwhelmed with emotions as she walked through the Great Hall with the other first year students. As she walked past the older students, she caught a glimpse of the teachers at the end of the hall. She saw one professor standing next to what looked like an old dusty hat that was sitting on a stool. Feeling quite confused, Littlemonster and the rest of the first years came to stop infront of the professor. Littlemonster could feel her heart beating in her chest, she had read from hogwarts a history about the four hogwarts houses, and while she felt proud to be in any house she did take to a prefence to one. One by one, first years were getting their names called to go and sit on the stool and get the old hat placed on their head and get sorted into their house. Littlemonster was looking around the great hall taking in the atmosphere of her new school, when the professor spoke "littlemonster". She gulped and stood there for a second, feeling extremely nervous now, she walked slowly upto the professor and sat on the stool, the sorting hat began to spoke, Littlemonster was too nervous to take in what the sorting hat was saying, despite the great hall being extremely quiet, next minute the sorted hat yelled out...

Envyesse felt so amazed at how everything simply looked...magical. Well this was a school fir WITCHES and WIZARDS for god sakes. She smiled when they finally reached the Great Hall and her eyes lit up the size of saucers. The stars shined brightly tonight capturing the essence of how everyone else was feeling. The candles shined brightly as well luminating the room and floating so effortlessly flawless. Soon enough the old sorting hat was set upon a stool and the headmistress was seen front and center. Envy sat there waiting anxiously for her name to be called and eventually- "Ross, Envyesse." This was it! Her sorting finally. She closed her eyes breathing in once deeply and got up walking towards the stool and hat. The headmistress picked the hat up and placed it gently on her head. For a while the hat waseerily quiet. But then. All of a sudden it screamed out....

"I think you'll find great opportunity in HUFFLEPUFF!"

<SIZE size="50">Avie was glad to have finally been rid of that house, and those people who had not exactly made him feel great. Avie, which was short for Avery, though no one called him that. Only really his aunt, whom he had no intention of thinking about at all. He was at a school for the very first time. He'd never set foot in one until now, and well, it wasn't what he expected in the least. He couldn't really say what he had imagined but it wasn't a castle. He had thought of a more functional building, but they were all magical, so that had to be the thing to explain it really. Avie was glad to be their. He was glad to be among those who would be in his class. He wasn't so good with strangers, but maybe that was something that they taught at the school? He didn't know. His schoolings had been from that aunt, and she hadn't ever really spent much time with him. She'd focused more on her two sons, whom Avery liked about as much as he enjoyed tomatoes. A side note, Avie is deathly allergic to tomatoes. But he was here, and they were back home, in that all too small house where he slept, generally on the floor of the room he shared with his cousins. It would be nice for a little bit of space wherever he ended up.

This was new to him, the whole school thing. For one he couldn't understand why they were just waiting, and unable to sort of shove himself to the front of the cluster, he just asked out loud why they weren't moving. He wasn't overly loud, but the few around him, seemed to not enjoy his questions, and nor did they take the small amount of time it would've taken to answer him. He knew they were suppose to be sorted, but he had no clue what that entailed. His mother had attended Hogwarts Scotland, as had his aunt and uncle. His mother had spoken about sorting, but she'd just told him good luck. Avie had no clue what that was actually suppose to mean. What did he need luck for, surely sorting would be simply reading who would go in what classes. In any case, Avie was not looking forward to it. He was sure that no matter where he was put he wouldn't fit in. His aunt had told him repeatedly that he was special, and not in the sort of tone that was overly positive. His mother called him unique, so he worried that this simple fact would just make him stand out. Really not fit in. It worried him so much that when he noticed the crowd move, he grew increasingly nervous. He noticed as they walked that the school was filled with people. That he hadn't really been expecting that many other people. It seemed like a whole lot more than Avie was used to. He noticed that they stopped near the front, or would that be classed as the back, of the hall. He glanced around, and noticed that a tall person was stood, holding a bit of parchment, and beside her was a stool with a hat.

Sorting. He looked round at the older students, four tables. Well, that explained what sorting would be about. Although not why he needed luck. Surely there were no bad houses. Jumping slightly, as the hat appeared to start singing. Avie noticed that he was getting nervous, more and more nervous. The hat surprising him like it had, helped nothing. Thankfully the song was shortly over, and the sorting began. He was suddenly glad he had his mother's name, and would be a far way down that list. He watched as various students were sorted to the four tables. Ravenclaw, with all the blue, Hufflepuff with the yellow, Gryffindor with the red, and Green for Slytherin. He didn't know what they meant but, he was curious to know which colour he'd get to wear. Avery knew that in one of the books his aunt had thrust at him had been exactly what all this was about, but, after struggling with all the long words in the first chapter, Avie had given up. He wasn't very good at reading, his aunt wasn't focused on him, and his mother assumed he'd be a reader like her. The opposite was true, Avery liked arts, drawing. He liked music and dancing, though he wasn't so good at the latter. Finally, he was called upon, "Mitchell, Avery" At the sound of his name, the boy made his way through the now, much thinner crowd, muttering apologies and scoffs as people either moved out his way, or did not. Eventually he made it to the front, and with a deep breath, practically skipped up the steps. Setting himself down on the stool, the hat was placed on his head, and he waited to here what it would say.

Charlotte couldn't believe she was finally here. She had been dreaming about going to Hogwarts since Peter started going and at her young age she wanted to go everywhere with her older brother and was so upset when she found out she couldn't go with him, but now she was here for herself and she was more than excited. As she walked up the Great Hall with the rest of her fellow classmates she looked around in total amazement, this place was so cool and big. She kept looking out for Peter but she couldn't find her older brother in the mass of older students. She was a little upset that this was her first year and while she was so excited to be here, Peter would be leaving at the end of this year. It was just typical that as soon as Charlotte would be able to see her brother whenever she wanted he would be leaving almost as soon as she got there. Although this was the start of something new and exciting for Charlotte and she knew she was going to have to grow up now and maybe stop hanging out with her brother all the time, she was sure that he was going to get tired of her at some point.

As she continued to look around in a daze she was startled when she heard the Headmistress starting to talk, bringing herself back to the Great Hall she listened to the Headmistress talk, it wasn't long and before she knew it she saw the Sorting Hat come out. She had heard Peter talk about the Sorting Hat, she was so excited for this moment, she was finally going to get sorted into her House. She had fantasised about coming here for so long but the only thing she couldn't fully imagine was what house she would be in. With her father having gone to Drumstrang and her mother going to Beauxbatons, she only had Peter who was sorted into Gryffindor, but that was nothing to go off. So when her name was called Charlotte walked up to the stage and sat down on the stool. She let her eyes scan over the vast amount of older students and as the hat was placed on her head she relaxed as she saw her older brother looking up at her, she smiled and waited to hear where the Sorting Hat would put her.

Aya rocked back and forth on her heels out of both excitement and fear, wanting the doors to open, to give her confirmation that this wasn't just some fantastical dream, that she really was in the school her father had once been to. Only when the doors opened and all the unsorted students were guided through, it felt more like a fantasy than reality. Magic practically buzzed through the air, and she couldn't suppress the grin on her face. Students crowded around her, chattering, and for once she didn't care she had no room. This was a place where miracles happened, where she could forget, and maybe even have fun. The room quieted as greeting rang throughout the giant room, and then names were being called. Her name was right in the middle, not having to wait too long, but just long enough that a pit of worry seeded itself in her stomach, getting lost in her own thoughts.

What if she wasn't good enough here? What if she never lived up to her father's expectation? Her mother had already been reluctant to send her away, but what if it was all for nothing? The blonde became so lost in "what-if's" and "maybe's" that she barely heard "Aya Matrim," being called out. She froze before forcing her muscles to work, trying to trick herself into being confident and knowing she just looked like another nervous first year in front of the entire school. She sat down on the chair, clamping her hands together in front of her and closing her eyes, taking a deep breath. "Just put me where I belong," she breathed out, focusing all her attention on the hat that sat on her head.

"Well I certainly wasn't going to be putting you where you didn't belong! Go on, then, join your housemates in GRYFFINDOR!"

Ellie Hayes looked around the Great Hall in awe. She had never seen so much magic at work in her whole life. Her mother used to tell her about magic, so she always knew about it, but apart from her own magical outbursts, she'd never had much to do with magic. She was definitely excited. It was true that after her mother died and she'd come to live with her father, she had pretty much been surrounded by magic, but it was only her father and his partner that ever used it. For obvious reasons, all of her siblings were still much too young. Ellie didn't really get along with the rest of them. Svetlana was kind of a b!tch to her and Imogen was always so difficult about everything. Leander and Ruben were always so loud and they all teased her about her name. She hated it. Ellington indeed, what had her mother been thinking? Ellie loved her mother to be sure, but sometimes she wondered if her mother was silly. She was eccentric, Ellie could see that, especially after meeting her father, but she had, for quite a long time, wondered if her mother hated her. She was glad that was not the case at all.

"Hayes, Ellington."

Ellie shrunk back at the sound of her name and she was sure she heard people sniggering around her. She sighed and tried to hide her face as she walked up the stairs to the stool. She sat down and looked out over the crowd of people. Ellie looked over at the Slytherin table and smiled slightly at her new brother. Tommy was the only one who didn't tease her about her name. She didn't know what he thought about it, because he didn't really say anything, but she was greatful that he didn't tease her at least. He seemed to like her over the other children, which was definitely a first. Svetlana and Imogen look after Ruben and Leander so much she doesn't get much attention. There were so many of them in that house, she wondered how they were all going to cope. "Thank you, Mr Hat." She wasn't sure what she was thanking him for. But she was thanking him anyway.

Giuliano Raven looked around the Great Hall with wide eyes. It was very nice, and so crowded with people from all over the place. He knew that he had family around, sitting in their seats, and his brother in the crowd somewhere, but he wasn't looking for family members. He was too busy thinking about how awesome this will be. He had not heard someone speak Italian for ages, and it was incredible! Italian was his mother tongue, but wow, he had gotten over it. He moved through the crowd silently, as he wanted to see the proceedings as clearly as possible. The headmistress began the ceremony and Giuls rocked on his heels with his hands behind his back. He couldn't wait to sit on the stool and have the hat on his head. The thought of being sorted intrigued him, and he wanted to know what it was like. Did he need to do anything? Dante never said anything about that - not that he ever said much at all, least of all the Giulian.

The list of names ran down, until it reached 'R', and Giulian knew that he would be up directly after his brother, Arturo. Unless there was some other person with the name Raven, which he doubted. He didn't have any cousins here. After Arturo was sorted, to which Giulian paid little attention as he found the candles more exciting, he heard his name called, and he walked up to the stool and sat himself down. His family member that had come here were only three, in two houses. He knew little of the houses individually, and really did not care where he was put, as long as he was able to read, and play. Reading and playing were the best! He closed his eyes as the hat slipped down his face, and hoped to hear the hat's decision soon.

Dwaide Lesley was ready, he was ready to be sorted, he was ready to learn and he was definitely ready to be the Doctor. He steeled himself and waited, rather impatiently, for his name to be called. He wasn't a very patient person, in fact he had never really been so. He was definitely more like his sister Demeter then Desislava in that respect. Whilst he wasn't really considered to be a party animal, he definitely didn't mind a nice dance or two. He shifted his weight from foot to foot as he continued to wait and eventually found that even his hands were getting fidgety. Maybe He should have brought something to play with. He shook his head as he realised that he did. Immediately he brought his hands up to his neck where he was wearing a bow-tie. He loved Bow-ties. They were cool, just like his favourite Doctor.

"Lesley, Dwaide."

Snapping his head up to look at the owner of the voice, he suddenly became aware of the stool, hat and various students around the room. He hadn't actually been aware of them before and he chided himself on his stupidity and obvious blindness. He should know better then to not look. He'd gotten himself into a lot of trouble doing that after all. He walked up the stairs and deposited himself down on the stool, grinning to himself as the hat came down over his eyes. However he managed to locate his cousin Dexter before he was encompassed by darkness. "Okay, Sir. Do your thing!"

Arturo Raven stood awkwardly in the crowd of future students, and attempted to locate family members in the hall. However, it was difficult, as he was also trying to keep a track of Giuliano, to ensure that he didn't break something the family would have to replace. Again. Whilst the headmistress began, Arturo gave up on scouting for his brothers, and decided that it would be wiser to listen to the professor, rather than chase idiots. He tucked his hands behind his back quietly, fidgeting with the school sleeves. The hat was intriguing and he rather liked its song. However, he was happy to have the song finish, as he knew that his name being 'R' would mean that he would have to wait for a few names to be called before he could be sorted. And while not a particularly impatient boy, Arturo wanted this all finished so he could get used to whatever house he would be in.

He managed to find Giuliano, who was looking wide-eyed at everything. Arturo was focused on the hat, and that was that. Everything else could be observed late. The list of names came closer to his own, and he realised that - just like with most serious things - Arturo would be first. He was glad for this, and his heart jumped a little as he heard his name called. The youth walked to the stool and sat carefully on it. The hat was placed onto his head, and slide down past his eyes. He kicked he feet a little as he waited, wanting to get off the stool and join other students as quickly as possible.

Metis was uncomfortable, to say the least. The Great Hall was packed with far too many people. Too many strange people. She didn't like it at all. The robes she was wearing were new and odd, nothing like the school uniform she'd become used to at home, and not like her comfortable clothes she wore around the house. The roof was made to look like the night sky, probably glass, Metis thought, scowling up at the roof as she clutched Athena close to her inside her robes. While all of Metis' ball-jointed-dolls were in near perfect condition, Athena wasn't - she was missing an arm, which would've been cause to throw her away, but even with her imperfections, Metis still loved her doll dearly. She was anxious about keeping them at school, but she wouldn't have been able to cope without them. It was bad enough she was being sent to a foreign place full of strangers to learn about tricks and other such pointless things that were no doubt not even real.

Metis squeezed her eyes shut tightly, willing herself to be anywhere else. Of course, willing herself was pointless, she knew that, and she was here whether she liked it or not. Unless this was a very long, very bad dream. Which was probable, she supposed, but given the length of time this had taken, it was more than likely reality. A hypothesis confirmed when her cousin, Laurel, gently squeezed her arm. Metis turned around, annoyance on her face, before Laurel gently whispered to her. "They're about to call you up, Metis," she explained. Metis nodded slightly, glad that Laurel had told her, although she said nothing to that effect. She wasn't paying attention to the voice calling out names, but they were evidently in the 'C' section, just about at 'Chancellor'.

She didn't hear her name called out, but Laurel pushed her forward slightly, informing her that she had to go up (evidently her parents had spoken to Laurel about offering her help, no doubt) and so Metis, her face stony, focused entirely on the hat as she walked up and had it placed on her head.

There must be something in here. A speaker, perhaps. Somebody speaking in to a microphone and it being played through a speaker in this hat. How silly. Sighing, Metis waited for the hat's judgement, hardly willing to believe she was participating in such a bizarre spectacle.

"Come now, Metis - you know there's magic: you still haven't come to terms with all your books moving themselves to the other side of your room. Here you'll learn all about what was going on - and I think the best place for you to begin that journey is in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Following his Professor, Jarek was one of the first of the first years to enter the Great Hall, and was immediately dumbstruck by the ceiling. He gazed at it as he walked the length of the hall, almost walking into the back of the teacher as they stopped suddenly by an old hat precariously placed on a stool. It wasn't until he had been there for a few seconds that he realised his mouth was open. His face must have looked quite hilarious, one of deep thought - confused yet amazed thought. Why did this room have no ceiling? And how had he never realised how beautiful the sky was until this very moment?

Jarek's thoughts were interrupted by a roll call which had started. He watched as his peers ascended the steps and placed the Sorting Hat on their heads. One by one houses were being called, Jarek knew the stereotypical traits of each house as his parents had told him before. As a result Jarek could not help but scowl at the newly sorted Slytherins, smile sympathetically at the Hufflepuffs, nod to the Ravenclaws and smile widely whenever Gryffindor was called. Jarek hoped more than anything to follow his dad and join the Gryffindors.

And that's when he heard his name called. Jarek stepped out from the remaining first years and settled down on the stool and had the Sorting Hat placed on his head.

"I really don't understand your prejudice against Slytherin - they're a fine house and a place where you would do better than I think you can imagine: especially in achieving your dream of becoming a great wizard. By my point, even Merlin was a Slytherin. But fine. Go on, then - you're a GRYFFINDOR!"

It's already that time of the year again. The time when families had to part ways and parents had to send off their children to school. It's that time of the year again that most kids around Rivaille Nightray's age was waiting for. Yet, despite all the excitement around him, the eleven year old remained apathetic. He didn't like it here. Sure, the place was amazing. The Nightray manor paled in comparison to the castle that would be his home for the next seven years. But despite that, he didn't like it.

The eleven year old had never been one to enjoy being surrounded by people. Socializing drains his energy. Talking and interacting with other people was a task for him. Attending school would mean that he had to live with people he hardly knew. Attending school would mean that he had to force himself to do the things that he never wanted to do. He could hide all he want, plug his ears to get rid of the noise, but he knew that he couldn't keep doing that for an entire seven years. His aunt knew that, yet, despite his protests, there he was, arms crossed in front of his chest, eyeing the decorations around him with an uninterested look.

Rivaille tried to ignore the noise around him, but it was proving to be difficult. The boy never did like noise. All his life, he was used to living in silence, though his twin brother wasn't really the silent type. But still, the only source of noise that he knew all his life was his older twin. This was new for him, and hi despised it. He tried to maintain his distance but that was proven to be futile. He was surrounded by a bunch of kids, and these kids seemed to not know the concept of personal space. The blank mask that he usually wore was replaced with an annoyed one as he once again stepped aside to increase the distance between him and the nearest person. He was in a bad mood and his twin wasn't really helping. The older was nowhere in sight, probably too absorbed with the magic around him. He sighed, Armin was the older twin yet at times, he acted too much like a kid.

Minutes passed before Rivaille had given up trying to protect his personal space. It was of no use. He was only wasting his energy be glaring at every kid around him. He didn't have to endure it for long though as soon, the headmaster gave her speech, which was good. He was already getting impatient. At this time of the day, he was supposed to be in his room, reading whatever book he grabbed from the enormous library in their house. He wanted to go back to that usual routine.

Once the headmaster had finished her speech, the first year students were called one by one to be sorted. He wasn't really paying any attention to what was happening around him as he was searching for his twin. They had to be in the same house. They have to. Soon, he heard his surname being called. He knew that his twin would be the one to be sorted first. He tried to push himself into the front to see better but with his small frame, he was unsuccessful. Then it was his turn. Though unsure, he tired to remain calm as he walked to the front. "Make up your mind and decide. I don't have much time." He whispered, wanting to take off the hat as soon as possible.

"Oh, I'm sorry - I didn't realize I was holding you up from your very important eleven-year-old business. Next time I'll make a more convenient appointment with you! Well, if we're in such a crunch for time, you best make your way off to SLYTHERIN!"
