Odette knew this final game of the year would be the most important one of her entire run as captain, and she wanted to ensure it would be a win for her team. She had called the practice a few days before the final match, just to make sure everyone was in shape and working together the way they were supposed to. When she thought about the upcoming match against Ravenclaw too much, she felt her stomach clench in anxiety. But she knew better than to show it to her team. She waited on the Quidditch pitch for them all to arrive. When they were there, she spoke. "This will be our last chance to practice before the game. I want you all to do your best, pretend Ravenclaw is watching and we want them to be too terrified to even want to play against us." She grinned a bit at that. "Beaters, try to aim for other players but within reason. If someone has been hit, don't aim for them again and protect them instead. I want everyone to be in shape for the match." With that, she gestured to the sky. "Let's get started!"

OOCOut of Character:
I skipped the arrivals so we can get as much practice in as possible, please make use of it! The game is in a week, and I'll be looking at activity in practice to help me decide on the lineup. Have fun! This practice will end the day the game starts.

Jasper was thrilled about this practice, as it was a new chance to show the captain what he was worth. He really wanted to show off and do well, so he impatiently waited for the practice to begin. To be able to play in the last match would be a dream, and he hoped he would get the chance to. He also hoped Blake wouldn't get to play this time, just to see the look on his face when he found out he wasn't going to give them another win. He still really didn't like Blake, and the fact that he had gotten the snitch so fast last time was a source of frustration for Jasper. When the practice started, Jasper flew to the quaffle and grabbed it immediately, he tucked it under his arm and started to fly to the hoops where Mordred was hovering.

Derek walked on to the pitch, very eager to get started on the practice that had been arranged. He had his broom in hand and shot up into the air the moment that he could. Derek went to catch the quaffle as it was thrown but one of the younger chasers got to it first. He flew in closer and followed beside the chaser in case the boy wanted to pass it to him.

Mordred was ready for this practice. He had been practicing a lot with his other teammates and his friends, so he felt like he was ready to play against Ravenclaw in the coming days, so he was going to play like the opposing team was watching. He flew up to the hoops and watched as Jasper caught the quaffle and flew his way.

Sapphire was ready. She jumped into the air and instantly went after a bludger. She smirked in satisfaction as it hit Jasper. He had the quaffle so she wanted to make sure he could handle the hit. She started following him immediately after to try and protect him a bit.

Blake was rearing to go for Quidditch practice. He'd more than proven himself as the real star of this team, and now he just wanted to get out there and play. He gave the captain a winning smile as he arrived, and waited with the rest of the team, relieved when she didn't talk for too long. As soon as the practice began he kicked off and shot into the air like a bullet, eyes wide and searching for the snitch.

Leda was glad to get in a bit more practise with the team before the next match. She’d already been out with Sapphire to practise her flying too, but it wasn’t quite the same unless everyone was out together. After changing and greeting the other players, the prefect wasted no time in taking to the skies, her eyes peeled for the snitch. They needed to win that cup.

Odette was both pleased and a bit dismayed to see Sapphire immediately hit a bludger at one of their players. But she gave the girl a thumbs up. It would bode well for the future, and she would put in a good word with whoever she chose as next captain to keep Sapphire on the team. Her drive was something Odette admired and hoped to see in some of the others a bit more. Odette flew over to Leda to stay near her, something she would do in the actual game too.

Jasper yelped as a bludger hit him, and he shot a glare at Sapphire as she started to fly closer to him. He didn't need her, not after that. He was glad he'd somehow managed to keep hold of the Quaffle, and held it under his arm as he approached the goal. He knew, deep down, that he probably should pass to Derek after being hurt. But Jasper wanted to prove himself. With a grunt of effort, he threw the ball at the hoops with as much force as he could. He was amazed and delighted when it went through the hoop, and he whooped happily. "I did it!"

Blake hadn't been off the ground long at all before a glimmer of gold caught his eye and he flattened himself to his broom, a grin spreading across his face as he shot towards it. The snitch ducked and weaved for a moment, but after looping around to chase it, Blake gave a small triumphant cry as his fingers wrapped around the golden ball securely. Whooping in triumph, Blake held the snitch high, waving for Odette's attention. "Back at it again, cap!" He called out cheerfully, making sure she had a chance to see how well he was doing before releasing the snitch and giving it a head start.

Leda was glad Blake had managed to catch the snitch but she would have preferred if it were her instead. Aware that Odette was on her tail and glad that she had less of a chance to be hit by a bludger, the Slytherin flew a little further towards the younger boy in the hopes of locating the golden ball.

Sapphire grinned at Jasper as he glared at her. There had been a method to her madness. She watched as he scored successfully. "Yes!" She hissed in pleasure. She spotted a ball coming for Jasper and quickly interviewed, successfully knocking it away.... And accidentally nailing Derek with it in the process. Her eyes widened a touch. Well... That was unexpected. She'd have to be more careful next time.

In the corner of her eye she could see the others doing well in their roles too. Sapphire had already managed to take a player down a peg with a bludger and a goal was scored. She just needed to keep herself above the second year though as she remained focused on finding her target.

Practice began with a flurry and it hadn't been going on that long before things started to happen. Blake managed to beat Leda to catch the snitch, something Luna was sure the prefect wouldn't be happy about. Shortly after Blake's heroics Jasper put the quaffle through the hoops for a score. Once the quaffle was thrown back into play Luna grabbed it and began to make her way up the other end of the pitch.

Odette winced as Sapphire managed to hit another player, torn between pride of her beater and protectiveness of the other players on the team. But her attention was soon pulled away by Blake Irons. Odette couldn't believe her eyes for a moment. The boy had caught the snitch early on again. It was getting difficult to assign that to simple beginners luck. She had a feeling she shouldn't make too big a deal about it, so she simply gave the boy a smile and a thumbs up before chasing after a bludger.

Jasper was pleased about his goal, and flew around with a huge grin on his face. But that grin only lasted for a few moments, until he heard Blake's voice. Jasper turned to him and looked in dismay as his enemy had the snitch AGAIN. How did he keep doing this? Jasper was sure he was cheating somehow. This sucked, all he had wanted was some recognition, but his goal was already being forgotten. Annoyed, Jasper flew after the girl who had now taken the quaffle. He didn't care about her right now, just wanted another chance to score. He practically flew into her in an attempt to steal the quaffle from her, grasping for it while holding onto his broom. "Gimme!"

If Blake thought he was going to be able to catch the snitch again before she did, he had another thing coming. Putting all her focus into locating the snitch and zipping off down the pitch without much thought as to whether the beaters were going to follow her, the prefect shocked herself by coming up to the golden ball. It tried to dart around her, but before Leda let it out of her sight, she shot out a hand and grabbed the wretched thing tightly, her legs wrapped around her broom to steady herself as she did so. Finally. She waved it up in the air to show Odette briefly, a small smile uncontrollably appearing on her face. At least they were even now.

Sapphire was closing in on another bludger when she spotted something from the corner of her eye. The other bludger was closing in on Leda, and fast. Sapph turned quickly and flattened herself to her broom, rushing to get their in time. She streaked across the pitch. Barely managing to put herself between the seeker and the ball, she swung. Her bat connected, but the momentum was too much.

Sapphire fell sideways off her broom. Eyes wide, she shot out and snatched the handle with both hands. With a grunt, she pulled herself back up to safety. She leaned forward, resting a moment to let her heart settle. She peeked just in time to see the bludger hit Luna.

The bludger got away from Odette before she could hit it, which frustrated her quite a bit. But then she noticed Leda flying after the snitch, and to her delight, she caught it. Odette laughed, two snitch catches this early on in the practice could only bode well for their match. "Good job!" She called out, feeling confident about her team. But just as she let down her guard, a bludger headed straight for Leda. Odette had spotted it too late, but it seemed like Sapphire was on it. She watched as the girl put herself between the bludger and their seeker, but realized immediately she wasn't entirely in control. A gasp of horror escaped Odette as she saw Sapphire sliding off her broom, and she sped over to the younger girl. A fall from this height would be very bad, and on her watch... that would be terrible. Thankfully, Sapphire managed to grab hold of her broom and get back on it. Her deflection of the bludger had even hit another player, something that was both admirable and almost frustrating. "Sapphire, are you okay?" She asked breathlessly, flying closer. The shock of what had happened had to be affecting her even if she would probably be too stubborn to admit it, so Odette made a decision. "You're taking a ten minute break, just to be sure. Go sit on the bench and drink some water. That was close." She wasn't sure if this would even help, but she felt the need to somehow take care of Sapphire after almost seeing her fall. It wouldn't hurt, that was one thing that was one thing she knew for sure.

"Back off," Luna yelled as Jasper rammed into her in an attempt to steal the quaffle from her. Players on the opposite team weren't usually so aggressive so she didn't know what he was playing at. With all her focus on Jasper, Luna didn't notice the bludger heading straight for her and didn't see it until it collided with her side. She winced in pain and attempted to throw the quaffle toward the hoop but it fell short. Luna pulled back and watched as Odette went to fawn over Sapphire who had almost fallen off her broom and was now being encouraged to take break, whereas Luna who had actually been hit by a bludger went unnoticed. "Oh don't worry about me cap, I'm good," She said raiding a thumbs up.

Jasper frowned at the girl as she yelled at him. "It's just practice!" He shouted back. "You have to learn that too!" He yelped in surprise as the girl was suddenly hit by a bludger, glad it had missed him. He braked, his eyes wide. But as she tried to score, he couldn't resist swooping down to get the quaffle. "Bye!" He yelled at her as he sped off with it. If she hadn't yelled at him, maybe he would have been nicer.

Before Odette had any sort of response from Sapphire, she heard Luna give her a sarcastic comment. With a frown, she turned to the younger girl, giving her an icy stare. "Good." She said shortly. "Though I'm sure there's enough room on the bench for you too." She didn't like the girl's attitude, and left the implication about a position on the bench hang in the air between them. It was completely fine if she wanted to take a break, and Odette would definitely let anyone who needed one take one during a practice, but if Luna continued with this attitude she would be sitting on the bench for the match as well. If she'd had given Odette more than a moment to react, Odette would have made sure Luna was okay too. But being hit by a bludger was far more commonplace during practices than plummeting off one's broom to the field below, which it had looked like Sapphire was about to do. Her heart was still hammering from it, and she didn't appreciate the girl's comment in the slightest.

Just as she thought she was clear of bludgers, Leda realised that behind her, Sapphire was pulling herself back up onto her broom. Unaware that she'd even been targeted by a bludger, she put two and two together and thanked her housemate for stopping the hit. If it had managed to land she may not have even caught the snitch. As Sapphire was sent off to the benches, Leda looked around at the girl who had actually taken the hit instead of her. Ignoring the comments between the younger girl and their captain, she flew a little way closer. "Are you alright?" she asked, knowing how much that would have hurt her if it hadn't just been blocked. "Taking one for the team right!" she did her best at a reassuring smile, which was rare for the fifth year, who quickly zipped off in search of the snitch once again.

When Jasper managed to get the quaffle past him, he was fuming. This was not what he was expecting. There was so much going on that Mordred was having a hard time keeping it together. With Sapphire almost faliing off her broom and sh*t. This practice was out of control. Jasper once again took control of the quaffle after Luna failed to score.

Luna scoffed as Jasper took the quaffle and flew off. "Yeah bye...jerk," She rolled her eyes at the response from Odette. She would need to choose her words carefully, she didn't want to warm the bench for their next game. "Well, thanks to Jasper I was almost hitting the deck too," Luna shrugged her shoulders. "I'm fine really," She pulled back on her broom and flew away from her captain, not wanting to give her any reason to punish her. Soon enough she was joined by Leda who unlike their captain was actually checking up on her. "Yeah I'm okay thanks, I've had worse," Luna laughed when Leda suggested she had taken one for the team and just like that she was gone and Luna set her focus to Jasper and flew toward him.
