It was a cloudy day at best, as Avery made his way onto the pitch to set it up for the team's first practice. He'd spent too long waiting for a storm to roll in, to carry on with the precedent that Celia had set for the team's practice conditions. He couldn't wait any longer. They had work to do, and the longer he waited, the more of a leg up their competition had. The Slytherin team needed to refine their skills, particularly with how many vital gaps they'd needed to fill after some of their members had graduated. With everything set up, he waited for the team to arrive, one foot pressed firmly against the lid of the Quidditch chest to keep the bludgers contained.

When it had seemed like everyone had arrived, he gave the group a firm, and brief, nod of acknowledgement. This was it, the new team. It was always different, year to year, but this time he had been the one to pick some of them, a fact that was still strange to think about. A silence lingered in the air - a rousing speech seemed like the usual way to go, but Avery had none prepared. He couldn't articulate anything particularly inspiring the same way prior captains had. He took a breath. "I don't need to tell you all how to play - even the newer faces with us. You wouldn't be on this team if you didn't know what you were doing. I will tell you if I don't think you're trying hard enough. We have a cup to win. Let's go." He said, lifting his foot to release the balls from their chest. The snitch and bludgers were off without any hesitation, and he tossed the quaffle into the sky before taking flight himself.

OOCOut of Character:
Just get straight into it!

Vanity was ready for her first Quidditch practice. With her new broom and new robes, she knew she looked great. She had her hair pulled back in a ponytail to keep it out of her face, but had added a little green bow to match her Slytherin robes. She shot to the air with her bat and immediately rushed after a bludger. Unfortunately, she missed.

Mischa grinned as he gripped his bat, quickly hopping into the air and chasing after a bludger.

Enoch was very suprised when he ended up with the quaffle first and headed toward the hoops.

It almost felt strange to be on the pitch without Celia, though really he just imagined that it might be a slightly safer practice.

Enoch approached the hoops quickly, and surprised even himself, by actually managing to score on his first attempt.

Summer was thrilled to be on the team, even as an alternate. Surely, making the team during her first year would be good for her reputation. She flew after the other chaser as he headed for the hoops, quite impressed when he scored right away. Once the quaffle was thrown back into play Summer managed to catch it and tuck it under her arm.

Mish was still warming up as he searched for a bludger to give a good whacking to.

Summer circled back towards the hoops and made her shot, not too surprised when it was easily blocked.

Enoch was pretty pleased that the other new chaser, the alternate, didn't score, where he had. He caught the quaffle when it was tossed back out.

Mish missed the next bludger.

Enoch wasn't too surprised when the next attempt he made went completely wide.

Avery scoured the skies while trying to keep an eye on the team, a task that was proving difficult to do when the snitch could have appeared at any moment.

Enoch waited for the quaffle to be tossed back out, hanging back to let one of the other chasers have a go.

Mish got a bat on a bludger, but it ended up going a bit wide.

Horror was barely warmed up when he missed blocking one shot, and then blocked the others. It didn't help that he was hit with a bludger either. He caught the quaffle and sent it back out in play.

Once in the air, Terror circled around and ended up grabbing the quaffle once it was back in play.

Avery only briefly glanced at the other players in his search of the snitch, idly keeping track of who was doing what.

Terror made it to the goals and hurled the quaffle, only for his twin brother to block it.

Horror blocked Terror's shot and threw the ball back into play.
