After a truly miserable set of tryouts, Celia had taken pity on the team and scheduled their first official practice for a much nicer day at a much more reasonable time. It was still chilly outside, but at least there wasn't a cloud in the sky. She had gotten to the pitch early and was waiting rather impatiently for the rest of the team to join her. They had a lot to go over before they could begin practice.

"Alright, listen up!" Celia called once the entire team had arrived. "We have two new members. Please welcome Mischa, our new beater, and Lennox, our new chaser," she gestured towards each of them in turn and smiled briefly before her expression hardened. "As you all know, Slytherin is the best team at Hogwarts, but last year something unacceptable happened," she paused dramatically, gaze searching the crowd before settling on Ivelisse. "We lost a match." Celia did not care that it had been the international match. She did not care that the snitch may have been cursed or that the other seeker may have just been lucky. They had lost, and that was unacceptable.

"Because of that, there will be some changes. First, I've added more practices to the schedule. I'll also be requiring everyone on the team to fly a Streak or better. If getting a new broom would be difficult for you, please see me after practice. I may be able to get you one for free." Celia didn't want to make any promises, but she was feeling pretty good about her alumni outreach efforts. "Finally, I'm getting rid of the traditional alternate system. 'Full' team members no longer have priority for the starting lineup. I'll be determining who gets to play in matches based on who does the best during practices." This time, Celia's gaze lingered on Avery. She paused for a moment to let the announcements sink in. "You'll all get a memo outlining these changes and the new practice schedule later today. Now, get in the air." Celia blew her whistle and released the Quidditch balls. She didn't bother giving further instructions, assuming everyone knew how their position worked. If they didn't, she would gladly jog their memory with a couple bludgers.

OOCOut of Character:
No arrivals, practice starts now! Also, please note that despite Celia's announcements, nothing is changing OOC. Full team members still automatically get spots on the starting lineup (unless they are unavailable for the match).

Let me know if your character wants a free broom!

Ivelisse wasn’t keen on finding out what Celia had planned for her first year as captain. Nor was she surprised that the other girl was calling her out. By now, Celia had become predictable. Always focussing on how she was such a good beater and how beaters could win the games for them yet looking directly at her when she mentioned losing a game. It was sad, really. If only some of that arrogance could actually turn into confidence or skill. Ive visibly rolled her eyes at the mention of alternates having just as much chance of getting put in the starting lineup at their games. If she hadn’t been sure that Celia was out to destroy her she was certain of it now. Once their new captain was done with her useless waterfall of words Ive hopped onto her broom and made quick work of getting up in the air.

Mish was buzzing to have made the team, a huge grin on his face and bat clutched tightly in his hand. This was just going to be great and he was desperate to prove himself. He was diligent in listening to the Captain, raising his hand in a mock salute and standing to attention before quickly hopping in the air to find a bludger to hit.

The try-outs had been challenging, but Avery had left feeling quite good about his performance. It set the standard for the rest of the year. Celia was a very different captain. More intense, though he didn't find himself feeling at all put off by it. He lined up with the others and gave a small nod to the new members as they were introduced. He paused at Celia's expectations for broom requirements. His parents had a...difficult relationship with Quidditch, and in particular with him playing. Streaks were fast, and they would have greatly helped with keeping up with the snitch. But they were expensive, and he couldn't be certain they'd agree to it. He frowned, considering Celia's offer, though he was stirred from his thoughts when it appeared she was staring right at him. His grip tightened around his broomstick and he nodded stiffly, casting a brief glance at Ivelisse. Without much more to be said, Avery took to the sky to begin his hunt for the snitch.

Ive looked for the snitch.

Natalia silently raised her eyebrow at Celia's words. If she was hoping to be a popular captain, she wasn't doing a very good job. She was certain of her position, though. As one of the oldest on the team, she was probably the chaser with the most experience right now. Only Indi might be better. Natalia said nothing as she took to the air, though she had her doubts about some of Celia's decisions. She grabbed the quaffle and took off with it.

Mischa was quick to find a bludger, but his aim was rather off and it completely missed everyone.

Satisfied that everyone was in position, Celia hopped on her own broom and took off. She immediately zeroed in on a bludger and hit it towards — who else? — @Ivelisse Burleigh. Celia knew she couldn't celebrate quite as openly now that she was captain. She had a certain decorum to maintain, after all. But that didn't stop her from smirking a little to herself.

Ivelisse clenched her jaw when she got hit by a bludger almost immediately, not bothering to look back and see who had send it her way.

Mish looked around for another bludger to try and hit.

Seamus flew up into the air after the captain's speech and tried to hit a bludger.

Indi was curious to see what Celia’s rousing speech before practice would be like. After years of Liusaidh she was looking forward to something different. She waved half-heartedly to the new team members, not bothering to remember their names. This was her last year and she doubted it would really matter. She raised an eyebrow at the mention of something unacceptable and she nearly laughed when the international game was brought up. Was she joking? The international game hardly counted. It always felt like more of a chore than a victory lap and it wasn’t like it really mattered. After that Indi hardly paid attention and just waited for practice to begin. It looked like things wouldn't be changing that much, Celia just talked more. Finally they were off and Indi took to the air following behind Natalia closely. They were the oldest chasers on the team now but she had been a starting member longer and she wasn’t about to let her forget that.

If it were up to Celia, she would have hospitalized Ivelisse and then benched her for two seasons straight. But she was still a little wary of her roommate complaining to Professor Castillo, who wouldn't hesitate to take the captaincy away from her. She needed to keep the badge until she submitted her college apps, at the very least. So, in the interest of not appearing too biased, Celia aimed her next bludger at @Avery Lancaster.

Zeroing in on another bludger, Mish grinned as he swung his arm feeling the vibrating as he smacked the bludger. He's been aiming towards the main seeker, but cringed as he went barreling towards @Natalia Novak instead. But he wasn't going to apologize, he'd rather pretend he meant to do that in the first place.

Celia was quite pleased to see Mischa successfully hit someone. A seeker would have been better, but a chaser holding the quaffle wasn't the worst target. She flew after the bludger, intent on landing another hit of her own.

The bludger hit Natalia right before she tried to score. She grunted in pain, her broom spinning sideways. But she still managed to throw the quaffle with a bit of force, and was pleased when it went through the middle hoop.

Seamus was a little frustrated that the new beater managed to hit something before he did.

Ive kept looking.

Mischa was quick to get on the hunt for another bludger.

Celia frowned when @Lucie Vernier failed to block Natalia's shot. The chaser had just been hit with a bludger, so there was no excuse. Celia slammed a bludger towards the keeper as punishment.

Ive flew a little higher to see if she could catch a glimpse of the snitch.

Mischa went to hit another bludger, but one again it veered off course and failed to hit anyone. Much to his annoyance.
