So far the castle was bigger than he thought it would be even though his father had told him about the castle many times and had given his son a near-perfect description of what it looked like inside. He obviously thought that his father was trying to oversell the school to him to get him excited about going to Hogwarts, but it appeared that his father was actually telling him the truth. Which meant that there was plenty to get excited about if he was to believe everything his father had told him. The kitchens, for example, or that one empty classroom filled with beans his father talked about on a daily basis, or the giant squid in the lake and the many creatures living in the Forbidden Forest. There was definitely a lot to do at Hogwarts and he was looking forward to exploring all of it. Once the Headmaster began to welcome all of them, Max tried his best to follow what the man was saying. At some point, he decided to give up and focus more on his new surroundings again. He knew that he would have plenty of time to do so later but everything was just so very interesting at the moment. Thankfully, he had started to pay attention to the ceremony again right as the Headmaster told them that they were supposed to sit on the stool when their name would be called out. Which, luckily for him, didn't actually take all that long. He made his way through the first years when it was his turn to be sorted and sat down on the stool, looking up as the Sorting Hat was placed upon his head. He didn't really care where the Hat would place him as long as he could make friends and do fun stuff together, and he reckoned that he could do that in any house.
"Hmm...Well, this is interesting, you are intelligent but actively push it away...you would've made a good Ravenclaw, but I think you will more easily grow in....Gryffindor,"
