Even as Monty and Rory arrived at the door to Professor Styx's office, the Potions professor was still reeling at what he had just witnessed. It was bad enough to hear a student insult another's blood status, but Rory had gone further than that. He'd attacked Tristan. And it might have gone further than the physical, too, had Monty not been there to step in and block the Slytherin's stunning charm. He'd never seen anything quite like it, and he was appalled that such behaviour was occurring within the school grounds - the grounds of a castle that was supposed to provide everybody with a safe, comfortable, and friendly home. Monty glanced down at Rory, lost for words, and then knocked firmly on Professor Styx's door. He knew the man to be fair but hard with discipline, and could only hope there would be some thought-provoking consequences for Rory's actions.

Rory arrived at his head of houses door as the other professor did. He didn't much care for this, for the trouble he was about to get into. It was well deserved, Tristan had deserved it. He knew that neither professor would see his side about it, not the head of house he was sure had some understanding of status. They were in a school so of course he couldn't be like that. The boy glanced at the potions professor as the man knocked on the door. Rory was trying to come up with a defence that would seem plausible. He knew that the head of house had tricks to figure out liars but perhaps he could get away a little more lightly if he just stretched the truth. Regardless he was about to meet his fate.

Kalif was working on the final homework of his students, when he heard a knock on his door. The knock was a bit firm, which caused him to look up. That couldn't be from a student. He waved his hand at the door, and it opened to reveal the Potions professor and also... Rory Fergusson. Kalif dropped his ink pen and clasped his gloved hands together. "Enter and make it quick." Rory had already been in trouble with him before, last year, so Kalif's mood quickly went from a good, mellow one to an aggravated one in a blink of an eye.

Monty stepped into Kalif's office and launched immediately to the point, aware his fellow professor did not appreciate perfunctory chit-chat. "Rory here has just been caught verbally and physically assaulting Tristan Collins, whose injuries are now being tended in the hospital wing. Mister Fergusson used derogatory language intended to disparage Tristan's blood status, and then attempted to attack him with a stunning spell. Fortunately, I stepped in at that moment to intervene." The Potions professor glanced down at Rory beneath a cold frown, hoping the boy would not contest this series of events. There were plenty of witnesses to back Monty up, but neither he nor, he imagined, Professor Styx, wanted to make this any more complicated than need be. Besides which, Styx always had an uncanny ability to tell when his students were lying. Whether or not he were a Legilimens, Monty did not care to speculate.

Rory walked in, and his resolve and anger somewhat wavered up looking at his head of house. The teen put his hands in his pockets, listening to the potions professor list off his behaviour. He decided that while he wouldn't deny his part, he might embellish why he'd done it. "Professor Styx, sir, ah admit tae hittin' Tristan, and intending tae use magic on him, but it wis self defence," he said, it wasn't untrue really, sure, Tristan hadn't made a move, but Rory was fighting back again his words, it was how he justified it in his mind. He wouldn't deny what he'd done, but attempt to pass on some of the blame. "Ah'll admit ah got a wee bit angry, but ah didne dae anythin' unmerited, ah wis jist fightin' back, and ah wis just stronger than him," the scottish boy's accent came in think and heavy, "But look, ah'll apologise tae Tristan and ah can assure ye it willnae happen again,"

Kalif narrowed his eyes at his student as Pendleton described what he had done. That langauage, again. He then stared at the student that tried to pass some of the blame, but regardless, what happened had happened and his rules for upholding the value of Slytherin were demolished. "Pendleton, you may leave Rory Fergusson with me." His tone was low, cold and on the verge of murderous, but Kalif held it back moderately. His patience was wearing thin with this one, but seeing as last time Rory only received a talk, this one would be much more severe, and regrettable. If only Tristan were in his house, because he always had a way of bringing two boys that were at each other's throats all the time. But this wasn't the case.

While Rory began to claim he had attacked Tristan in self defence, Monty gave a slow, incredulous shake of his head. Surely Kalif wouldn't believe that nonsense. Monty nodded as his dismissal and saw himself out, judging by the man's tone that he needed not bother explaining Rory was lying. Well, Monty thought he was lying. He hadn't seen the entire encounter - only the last few seconds of it. But really, Tristan attacking Rory? Now that was a difficult story to believe.
