This is the forum variation of the game "Werewolf"/"Mafia".

The Story:
It is a small town of Obsidian Harbour, close to New Zealand. The townsfolk are enjoying the time while their children and relatives are at Hogwarts New Zealand. Everything seems to be going well until they find a mysterious ring near the pier. It was an Ouroboros ring. There was a new threat looming.

The next day, cloaked people stood in the square, making their presence known. The Scitorari have descended, and they seek to rid all the good doers of Obsidian Harbour!

Team Ministry: You will need to find and lynch the Scitorari members, and survive!
Team Scitorari: You need to kill all the ministry folk without getting caught.

How to play:

• Sign-ups will begin immediately and close in a week - 5/5/25. Once closed, PM's will be sent out to each player with their roles and/or instructions if required.
• The game will begin on 5/6/25 with the night phase. During the night, no one must talk in the forum. The ministry folk will be sleeping. Anyone with night roles, you will need to PM me with your action - if you so choose to.
• When the sun raises, I will reveal the outcome from the previous night, and all players can discuss who they believe the Scitorari members are. You should decide between yourselves on who to lynch. Dead players cannot talk. You can lie and deceive all you wish, but you absolutely cannot share your PM with your role to any player.

And now, the roles!

• Scitorari- You are the enemy. Each night, you may choose one person to visit and kill. If/when you are killed/lynched, your role will show up as a Scitorari member.
  • Additional Scitorari - First is at 11 players, second at 17, third at 23
• Ministry Officials - You do not have any special powers, but your role is very important. Lynch the Scitorari, and survive!
• Seer - Once per night, you may look into your crystal ball, and see the role of one person
• Faux Seer - You think you are a seer, but your use of tarot cards and scrying leave you with uncertain answers. Once per night, you may draw the cards and see a role of one person, but the roles are random. They may or may not be correct. Upon death, you will show up as the seer. You will not know you are a faux seer until the end of the game.
• Healer - At night, you may visit a player to heal them if a Scitorari attacks them. You may also protect yourself once per game. If you try to heal a Scitorari member, you will die.
  • Additional Healer - Second at 15
• Minister of Magic - You lead the ministry officials. Your vote to lynch off players will count as 2 votes.
• Azkaban Guard - Once per night, you can block a player from using their night action.
• Ghost - You will not know that you are a ghost until you are lynched/killed. Your role will be tole that you are a ministry official. However, once you are lynched/killed, you can choose to take someone down with you for revenge the following night.
• Curse Caster (at 12 players) - Once per night, you may visit a player and cast a spell to take their voice away. Your target will only be able to communicate with GIFs, except with choosing a name to lynch.
• Auror (at 14 players) - You cannot be killed by the Scitorari at night.
• Hit Wizard (at 16 players) - Once per game, you can choose a player to strike down who you believe is a Scitorari member.

Additional Notes:

• During the day phase, bold your votes. If you are changing your vote, be sure to put that in there as well.
• The game is OOC, so one account per person. Use it during the whole game, so it might be best to use your main account.
• If there is a tie with the lynching votes, the death will be settled with RNG.
• Since we have a lot of time zones, each phase will last 24 hours. This should give everyone ample time to plot, discuss, murder, lie, etc.
• All game discussion will need to be in the thread, or via PM with the Scitorari members. Do not communicate outside the thread!

1. You think it's too soon and the village can still die if we do a role reveal right now?
2. You're a seer?

The thing is, if we lose another unique role today or tonight (and the probability is we will), our chances of success from a role reveal go down

Hmm, I think it does greatly depend what evidence we have so far, but even if we had none, each unique role can only be claimed once (without the scit giving themselves away with a probability of 50%) and then it's just a numbers game

The seer can be claimed twice right now, as well as the Ministry Officials, so normally in this situation you would risk like, 4 people claiming seer and trying to confuse everybody, but I'm willing to say I have enough evidence that that shouldn't actually be able to happen

6 could be Minister for Magic (unclaimed) or Verity depending on what list you're looking at

. But I think so far I'm most suspicious of Faye because most of what she's bringing up is in the rules. Could be just because it's her first time playing or an attempt to use that so we don't suspect her. Idk yet.

Idk why but for some reason I am incredibly proud I am raising your alarms but also its very valid reasoning lmfao. I just think I'm genuinely far too lost for my own good and keep needing clarification then realizing i read it in the rules but somehow skipped over it

So I just read back and realised Zephie pointed out yesterday (when Zazz was cursed) that a Scit could be hit by the cursecaster

Daphne chimed in then to say that anyone could be hit (subtly deflecting suspicion away from Zazz, if there was any)

Zephie then dies overnight

Now I accuse Daphne of being a Scit and Zazz immediately jumps in to defend her

this makes a lot of sense to me but i'm still iffy and have no clue which isn't helping the case

I think that revealing the roles of seers would be helpful if either of them spotted a Scit so the guard can give a shot at blocking them when night comes. Especially now that we know blocking one scit blocks both of them so we’ll find out if a seer is legit or not and potentially have a safe night - woo more survivors.

Also you know what, this is a good point

Even if nobody else is revealing - and I can't figure out if it's smart to or not - I'm a seer and I saw Amber as a Scit

I figured by voting her off, I'd learn if I was the real seer, but perhaps instead we should just ask the guard to block Amber tonight and see what happens

I think I still need to vote for Amber - if all we do is block her, and she's not a Scit, then the Scit only need refrain from attacking anyone tonight to frame her

I like your thinking Claire and if you're a scit taking a risk then fair play to you, but for clarity I do believe you, although you could be the fool. I am still deciding if I should change my vote or reveal my role.

I fine to reveal my role because it's not very exciting. I'm just a Ministry Official, which probably makes me look suspicious because there are only two left but I promise.

I'm inclined to believe Claire that she's at least the seer or the fool because that would be a wild claim to make otherwise. I am curious what else you might have seen on the other night? Maybe for extra proof and I'm nosey. But if Mia is the other fool/seer I wish I could figure out her code haha.

I completely forgot about the ghost, I assume it'll be made clear when that happens?

I've never gotten into the thinking that night kills are random. Even so early on in the game, I'm wondering if one or more of the scits are worried about Zeph being able to catch them out quickly.

This is interesting, someone close to her perhaps?

Zephie didn't say anything accusatory about anyone, or make any suggestions, so my guess is they chose her because it gives us literally no information

Then I read this and went. Damn, good point it feels likely to me.

My gut's telling me Marga is one of the scit (sorry, Marga).

I can kind of get this, but I also think Marga's one of the more active participants rn who is actually analyzing and showing what she's thinking and keeps posting the list, and that is also very helpful. So while I understand this, I also think accusing her could be a good tactic for a scit since if she's Not a scit she's a very helpful ministry person.

I am very confused about you Mia because you meant that it was too soon to claim, right? But then all the cryptic stuff would mean seer so uhhhh I'll have a better look at this

Ok Mia gif analysis:
Claire posts about role revealing, then asks if it's too early. Mia posts a gif that says 'way too early' and then a gif of someone looking through a looking glass, a seer and a dead person coming out of a grave.

I would take that to mean it's too early to reveal, but then the other gifs confuse the matter a bit. Maybe it means we'll die if we reveal now?

Then Claire asks if its 1. too soon or 2. mia's a seer. Mia clearly posts a gif saying 1, saying it's too soon. If she meant both, I imagine she would've posted a gif saying 1 and 2 or something. So at that point, Mia doesn't seem to be claiming seer.

But then those other gifs. HMMM.

EDIT 2: Claire didnt actually ask if it was too early, I remembered wrong, but I do think it's clear that Mia's gif was in reply to the role revealing thing
EDIT 3 : also somehow HNZ didn't save a bunch of my first post when I moved to the next page, because I had quoted Claire about suspecting me and asking if I was busy but I can't see my response to that in the post anymore, so something went wrong there.
To recap:
I've been pretty busy, back to work after a 2 week break. And what is messing with my participation most is honestly the timing of the day/night cycle in this game. It ends/starts at like 6 am my time, which means when I wake up I just have time to like sleepily look at the result, then I have to rush to work and it's around 12 hours later that I can finally sit down and reply properly at 6 pm (today it's 8 pm because I had dinner at my dad's, but I digress) so by that time the day is usually pretty far ahead and people have been chatting for a good few hours. Also means I don't see the last like 7-ish hours of the day as I'm asleep.

Trying to catch up again so this is a stream of thoughts as I read!

The idea of revealing roles this early feels scary. I do think Marga narrowing it down to just the Seers should reveal their roles after Claire was suggesting everyone do it is suspicious. We need our Seer. Mia seems to agree based on her Seer gifs?
Oh boy, no idea what Mia's second post is telling us. It seems to be something about nights 1 and 2. Maybe revealing something she suspected/checked? Though there being 2 numbers night 2 doesn't help that theory make sense and then it kind of negates her previous post where she seemed to suggest we shouldn't reveal the Seer role. EdIT: I was wondering why someone mentioned night 3 that hasn't happened yet but now I see why - 3 moons.

Overall thoughts: Still suspicious of Marga and Faye, and very curious on if Claire is the Seer, Fool, or playing us all.

It looks like we have 1 vote in for Daphne (Claire) and 1 vote for Marga (Verity).

I do plan to vote before I go to sleep tonight.

Thank you for posting because I had a lot more thoughts but I didn't want to double post AGAIN lol

In all the Mia gif puzzling, I had missed Claire's role reveal as seer and her seeing me as a scit. Way to make priorities, brain. I don't really want to role reveal, but like Kadi it's not all that exciting and I'm a ministry official, though I do also see how that is more suspicious since that's also what a scit would say.

I did have a thought but I could be entirely wrong about it: I was thinking back to night 1 and how we kind of figured that a person Kiersten might heal was a staff member, and seeing Verity accusing Marga made me wonder if there's a possiblity it's both of them and they're saying the other is suspicious to throw us off. Then again, Cyndi's also staff. And there's still the possiblity Kiersten just protected someone random.

But Verity accusing Marga came kind of out of nowhere and it just popped into my head that it could be a strategy.

I'll not be voting yet because I'm really unsure, but I will also vote before I sleep tonight

I kind of vibe with what daphne is saying about them working together and it being so early a strategy early wouldn’t surprise me, i think our wolves are active in this game, there’s only a very small group that aren’t after all so i think this is more likely. im voting Ai Nightray

Marga also said she’d kill me first which i don’t disagree with, but she’s in a group with the other wolf right? so they have to agree, and maybe they think that’s too suspicious? i don’t know i just feel like maybe she is, she got far the one time i saw her play werewolf and almost won by being deliberately like this. sorry marga.

Alright I stayed up as long as I could but unfortunately it is bed time and I won't be around again until after the day ends (unless I somehow wake up before 6 am on a Saturday which I hope I don't, but my cats might have different plans)

The Verity and Marga idea still intrigues me, but if I'm honest I find Verity just slightly more suspicious than Marga. But in an attempt to not die I will vote for the person who is also getting votes already (sry Marga if you're innocent) I'm voting for Ai Nightray

I agree, we need our seer. I also said they should reveal if they saw a Scit so there’s a way to confirm so our guard has somewhere to point their guard-y powers aka block.

Look I don't know what is going on here and I'm going to bed now. Based on trusting Claire's role reveal, I am going to change my vote from Ai Nightray to Amber Chou Wilson to even the score, because it could be either/both of them and I just hope I'm not making a huge mistake!

Ah see, but tomorrow if you lynch a wolf today you would have 3 people claiming Ministry official and 5 special roles left, there is a Math to this that I’ve been Math-ing or if the wolf would really be bold 2 people claiming a special role.

If we lynch a Scit, guard has 7 people left one is a Scit, assuming they did their job, they would have already checked 2 people so that leaves 5. I believe Claire is the fool or the seer - one or the other. It’s either they’d kill Claire or somebody else if Claire and the guard makes it through the night they would have been able to do their job and tomorrow we can have a better trust list let’s say. At worse we lose a special role tonight but that’s still 4 left against 3 Ministry officials I hoped I’d explained that well. And well if Daphne does turn out to be a lynched wolf, Kadi’s been claiming Ministry official so like checking her at night makes sense. Since I don’t think anyone else has claimed Ministry official.

In any case, a role reveal of only seers if they’d seen a scit was the most strategic imo, and a role reveal of the rest tomorrow.
