Open Get This Party Started

Although he could tell the other boy was uncomfortable, Vivian found Graydon's struggle for words endearing. It reminded him a lot of how he felt trying to talk to most people. Vivian had developed a habit as a child of trying to say everything in as few words as possible, to save himself having to figure out how to phrase what he was thinking quickly. He gave Graydon a small smile to try and show that he understood, and listened as the boy explained more clearly where he was from. "Oh... It must be a big change, coming over here." He said slowly, wondering how it would feel to be sent so far away from family for school. "Well, I'm glad you're here now..." He said, with a small smile.

Vivian had only just opened his mouth to deny that Graydon was keeping him from anyone, when to his surprise, Tristan came over. They hung out in public sometimes, but Vivian didn't remember Tristan so much as glancing at him at any kind of event ever before. The smell of alcohol rolling off Tristan was clear, and Vivian leaned away from Tristan slightly as he answered, even as the warmth of Tristan's hand on his shoulder made him long to lean closer. "This is Graydon." He explained, looking back at the other boy with a small, nervous smile. "He's transferring to Hogwarts. Graydon, this is Tristan. He's one of my roommates." Vivian paused for a moment, taking in Tristan's expression again. "Are you alright?"

Caro grinned and adjusted her hair slightly, pleased that Sophie thought it looked good. "Thanks." She said quickly, standing up a little taller. Maybe her hair would make other people notice her after all, even if they were all still busy fawning over Lizzie. Caro was distracted from a rather pleasant daydream about her sister having too much to drink and making a fool of herself by Sophie's next question. "What?" She asked, face heating up at once. Caro had tried to keep her feelings for Nixon private, at least until she could be certain the boy liked her back. She shook her head quickly, posture slumping slightly again. "I... no." She said quickly, not giving any more information than that. Caro had wanted to invite him, but Lizzie had insisted that she didn't want anyone so young coming to this kind of party. Caro was fairly sure it was really all about ruining Caro's life, Lizzie getting in one last jab before swanning off to do whatever she was going to do next.

Dancing was the thing Kauri wanted to do the most at this party, and he was glad Rose had brought them out onto the dancefloor. He started dancing with her, trying to keep his moves a bit more dignified than their last couple of dances together. Something about the way Rose was looking at him told Kauri that tonight wasn't the night for silly moves to make her laugh. He must have been doing something right, because Rose seemed to be dancing a lot closer than before, and he met her eyes, grinning shyly. His heart leaped at her words and his grin brightened, hesitantly moving a little closer himself. "I missed you too." He said quickly, unable to take his eyes off Rose.

Amber smiled at her companions. "We'll go get some drinks, we'll see you around later, okay?" she asked, her voice bright. She knew she could have just gone to get drinks herself, or let Ainsley do that, but it wasn't just something she had said because she was thirsty. It had been a reason to get Ainsley away from a crowd of people for a bit if she wanted to, and Amber wasn't going to let her do that alone. She led her girlfriend over to a nearby drinks table, where it was thankfully relatively quiet. "Are you alright?" She asked softly.

Rose was quickly forgetting where they were. The party wasn't that important, and neither were the drinks she wasn't yet allowed to have. She just wanted to dance and have this moment with Kauri. Her gaze was on him, and when he moved a little closer, she decided to take a chance. Rose was never one to really think things through, so she simply closed the distance between them and kissed him quickly on the lips. She pulled away, then gave him a shy smile. "Did you miss me like that?" She asked him, only her expression betraying her nerves at her own move.

Getting drinks was just the excuse that everyone seemed to need to break off into smaller groups even if they were going in the same direction. The teenager didn't mind in the slightest as she glanced over at her boyfriend, a grin on her face. She was happy he was here, happy he'd agreed to join her especially because she knew this wasn't his usual thing. The party was really starting to get going. Corrine spotted Rose and Kauri on the dance floor looking cozy and a softer smile crossed her face. She'd have to ask Rose for details later. Bumping her shoulder gently, Corrine began to sway gently to the music. "Maybe let's dance first?" she suggested hopefully. Corrine wasn't usually much of a dancer but the music and her one drink had her feeling like dancing was the best idea ever.

April grinned at October, glad she had made her laugh. It was nice to be out here with her sister, and nice that October didn't immediately run off to be with her cool friends or whatever. April grinned and nodded at October's suggestion, then grabbed her hand to pull her to the dance floor. "I thought you'd never ask." She said happily.

Dancing close to Rose, Kauri could feel his heart thumping. It was hard to focus on anything but how pretty she looked, how nice it was to be close to her like this. He was debating with himself whether it would be okay to ask if he could kiss her when the decision was made for him, Kauri's heart leaping in his chest as he felt soft lips on his own, just for a moment. Grinning in disbelief, Kauri nodded shyly. She had kissed him! Kauri felt like they were on the same page, and it was a relief to know she returned his feelings. Hesitating, he leaned a little closer. "Can I kiss you back?" He asked shyly, still wanting to make sure he had permission before doing anything.

Rose looked at Kauri after she kissed him, her heart beating quickly and her expression hopeful. She knew he had liked her, but was that still true? She hoped so, and was looking at his reaction with an eager curiosity. When Kauri leaned closer, she leaned in as well, sure he was going to kiss her. She paused when he asked her if he could, and then laughed. "I just kissed you! You don't have to ask permission after that." She told him, then leaned in more, until their noses were nearly touching. "So, yes." She said softly, meeting his eyes from up close.

Kauri knew asking to kiss someone might seem silly, but it seemed the polite thing to do. He smiled nervously when she laughed, face heating up as Rose came so close they were almost touching. When she agreed, he met her eye for a moment before closing his, leaning in to shyly press his lips to Rose's. She was warm and soft, and Kauri could feel his heart racing, excited and nervous and ecstatic all at once.
