Professor Misha Haden had been a bit surprised to be asked to help out, he didn't often, but he didn't mind it. Though of course he was feeling a little more tired than usual with the boys keeping him awake. It was nice though, they were adorable. He looked at the two students whose duel he was overseeing. "Let's keep this clean," he said, before inviting them to get started.

OOCOut of Character:

Eoghan was tired, but he knew that the duel against Elijah would be the most important yet. He got into position, knowing this one would take even more concentration than the previous, and bowed at his dormmate before readying his wand. "Stupefy!" Eoghan started them off, and wasn't about to be distracted with chitchat.

A shame, honestly, since Eli did like a bit of chit chat, but shouldn't be surprised his roommate wasn't about to be for it. After all, he was neither Lilith, or Tori. He blocked Eoghan's spell before casting "Expelliarmus!"

Lilith walked to watch the next duel which was between Eoghan and Eli, quite unfortunate since she didn't want to necessarily see either of them be hit by a spell. Oh well she'd show her support by sitting down and quietly watching.

Jonah had been content to cheer everyone on with his little flags and Lumos with his wand. He couldn’t use his blue flag though to cheer on Elijah because he wasn’t cheering for Eoghan. He was only cheering for his brother who cheered on him loudly in all of his Quidditch matches. So now it was Jonah’s turn to let Eli know that Jonah was rooting for him. “GOOO ELIIIIII!! KNOCK HIM CLEAN OFF HIS @SS!” Well… Jonah definitely ended up flushed after shouting that but he did continue chanting his brother’s name to hopefully cheer for him.

Eoghan was quick to block Eli’s spell but glanced to the crowd when someone started shouting. Jonah? That wasn’t like him. Putting the boy out of his mind Eoghan pressed on with another disarming spell of his own.

Eli blocked the disarming charm, noting Jonah in the crowd, a little surprised to hear his brother shout for him. He couldn't spare a moment to look at him though, a small smile creeping up onto this face as he decided to try and push him off the stage instead with "Everte Statum!"

Of all the second years that were taking part in the duels, Eli was the one person Eoghan refused to lose against. Besides, he hadn’t come this far just to see his dorm mate go on ahead. “Protego,” he said clearly, flourishing his wand, before immediately firing another spell his way. “Petrificus Totalus.” Would it have been considered playing dirty if Eoghan used anything at his disposal to try and break Eli’s focus?

"Protego, Stupefy!" It felt like a bit of a cosmic joke this, really. But they would see soon who would come out on top.

Eoghan blocked Eli's spell again, painfully aware of who was in the crowd watching them. This was more than just a regular duel. "Expelliarmus," he called out, trying to disarm his opponent.

Eli blocked Eoghan's spell and wondered idly if he should be letting Eoghan win. It crossed him mind for only a brief half second before he decided that Eoghan wouldn't appreciate him for that. It would only likely annoy him, so he decided against it. He didn't actually want his roommate to hate him. He wanted to be his friend (even if he'd given up on friends) "Accio wand!"

Eoghan wasn't about to let Eli steal his wand so he blocked the spell again. The blonde swallowed nervously, "you know, I'm not just going to back down." Of course, anyone in a duel was unlikely to do that, but he knew Eli would understand him most of all. "If you want to beat me, you'll have to do more than that," he added, sending another stunning spell at the Ravenclaw.

Eli glanced over to Lili, but said nothing. He had a funny feeling they weren't just talking about the duel here. He blocked Eoghan's stunning spell. "I never asked you to back down." He said, before sending the levitation charm, trying to make things more difficult for him by trying to levitate his robes, potentially into his face.

The glance to Lilith didn't escape Eoghan's notice, although he kept his own eyes on Eli. It was true, Eli never had asked him to, but that didn't mean he'd accepted the stance he now found himself in. "Even the mightiest waves must bow to the shore," the final words weren't delivered quite as gracefully as he'd intended when he got a mouthful of robe. He swiped the air around him, trying to push them out of his face although ultimately, he had to use to counter curse to resume gravity on his outfit. "Petrificus Totalus".

Lilith regretted coming to watch the duel. Things seemed unnecessarily tense and she had no idea what on earth was going on. Her only assumption was that perhaps the girls dorm wasn't the only place of drama this year. As Eli glanced towards her she shifted uncomfortably, not having a good feeling about whatever that glance was about but she stayed to watch them continue when Eoghan got a piece of his own robes. Oof.

"And I suppose you're the shore are you? A lone island? With a palm tree? Maybe a little boat?" Ridiculous. What was Eoghan even trying to say? He blocked the body bind and then raised up with "Everte Statum!"

Eoghan's face tried to remain motionless, although he couldn't deny that the idea of a little boat almost had him smirking. He blocked Eli's spell, and then suddenly had an idea. He took a few steps closer toward his dormmate, wand at his side as his movements slowed. "You tell me," he taunted, eyes fixed on the Ravenclaw. The blonde continued to step forward until he was no more than a few feet away. A hit from here by a number of spells would have been tragic. "Petrificus Totalus", he tried again, this time not needing to call out so loudly.

So intimidation was his tactic? He glanced over to Lilith again, almost as if saying, is this really what you want? She was this close to someone who had to rely on intimidation to get what he wanted. "You're just a bully, clearly, because look at what you resort to," he said, stepping back slightly to get out of his immediate vicinity. "Pathetic." Eli would have been fine to just duel properly, walk away as well, not friends, but this? Really? Was Eoghan so self conscious, so uptight, so in fear of his own relationship with someone who was Eli's friend and who he would have never actually chased, to do this? Really? He dropped his voice low. "You're such a fake."

"You think I'm bullying you?" A smile did spread across his face that time, because Eli had no idea what Eoghan was actually capable of. He'd stepped closer to the boy and if that was deemed as pathetic then so be it. As it turned out, Eoghan didn't even need to make a move on him if this was enough to put him on edge. "A fake?" Eoghan scoffed loudly, in case the spectators hadn't heard him call him that. "Please, tell us more." He'd stepped out of the way of his spell, but that didn't stop Eoghan from firing at him again.

Eli rolled his eyes, he didn't need to deal with childish behaviour. He stepped back from Eoghan again and raised his hand to the proctor. "Sir, you can tell everyone I forfeit, I'm not going to stand here and duel properly if Eoghan can't take it seriously." He said, turning his back on Eoghan and stepped down off of the platform. What a pathetic little baby. What in the world was going on in that boys head that he didn't think what he was doing was bullying? He'd seen enough with Eury to know the definition of it and he wasn't surprised they would allow it in this school. The whole school was pathetic. And the proctor? Enabler. This was what Lili was so worked up about? Merlin. Let her have him.

Eoghan had been trying to get Eli to lose to him, but for his dormmate to forfeit? It was too easy. Eoghan took a step back, a smile on his face. At the end of the day he had been dueling properly, and if all it had taken was to take a few steps closer, well then maybe Eoghan had deserved to win after all. He watched as Eli left the platform, "Eli," he called out, his voice much softer than it had been a few seconds ago. He left the platform too, not wanting the rest of the spectators to hear what he was going to say in case he was about to battle one of them next. "I had to play on your weakness," he admitted, following after him. "There's no hard feelings," whether Eli believed him or not was another matter, but he didn't care about whether or not Eli liked his girlfriend. He'd just needed Eli to think he did. Had it worked out in his favour? Sure, but after all that's what a competition was about.

Eli frowned at Eoghan. "This was a friendly duel, not a battle for who could be the most merciless." He said in return, not believing a word of what Eoghan was saying. Working on his weakness? "My weakness isn't that, my weakness is people being bullies to other people and then pretending what they're doing is a game. So maybe there's no hard feelings for you, but there is for me. Just ignore me, why don't you." He said, before rolling his eyes at Eoghan and walking away. Playing on someone's weakness? "Playing on someone's weakness is what bullies do. In case you weren't aware." He'd had enough. He didn't care.

Eoghan still had a smile on his face, but it was falling at Eli's words. "I know what a bully is, you're not the only one who's dealt with people like that," he said in a low tone. "Also please correct me if I'm wrong, the dueling tournament is a game." Perhaps Eli shouldn't be playing it if he was such a sore loser. It surprised him but being called a bully didn't hit him as badly as he thought it would. He'd spent enough time actually being one as a child to know that he wasn't anymore, and that even his dormmate calling him such didn't deter his own confidence. "Next time Jonah plays on someone's weakness on the pitch to score a goal, don't forget to remind him too," he said, irritation beginning to bubble in his chest although contained enough for the time being. Not everyone had a fistful of siblings to protect them and fall back on, "Have a little perspective for crying out loud," he added, walking away from the boy too, and debating why he'd tried to make friends with him in the first place.
