Beauxbatons Practice Y43 S1

Nina sure wasn't seeing the snitch anywhere.
 
Xenia was glad she was able to stop some shots, knowing she needed to be on her A game for the Ilvermorny match. She gave Eren a small smile. "Look at it this way," she said, a little short of breath. "You're helping me have my pride against that Ilvermorny chaser."
 
Vincent continued to fly around the pitch, and he finally found it! He reached out and caught it. After maybe ten seconds of sweet victory, he released it so that it could fly away.
 
"You definitely help with something," Eren said snidely, though he did give Xenia a teasing smile as he grabbed the quaffle yet again, paying little mind when it seemed like Vincent might have finally caught the snitch.
 
Nina cheered when the older boy caught the snitch, but it disappeared too fast for her to catch it in turn.
 
"I will pretend that is a compliment," Xenia said somewhat stiffly, pretending to look serious (it was a hard act to keep up) but quickly distracted by seeing Vincent catch the snitch. She beamed. "Nice one, Vincent!" If they kept up like that, they had some hope for the upcoming game.
 
Vincent gave a wave to the captain when she called him out for catching the snitch. It was sort of embarrassing but it was good nonetheless that he caught it at least once during practice.
 
Nina wasn't having any luck, maybe she needed to get her eyes checked. She hoped the beaters hit a bludger directly at her soon because she felt like trying to dodge.
 
Xenia rolled her ankles around, keeping the blood flowing in her legs.
 
It was tempting to try to score on Xenia again but Eren had leant his lesson last time of trying without enough of a run up so he sped off to the other end of the pitch, not surprised when it worked well enough to out pace Bellamy and score another goal.
 
Nina hung upside down on her broom for a few seconds, letting the blood rush to her head and wondering if that would help her see the snitch. Evidently, it did not.
 
Xenia hoped that Bellamy wasn't getting too discouraged, Eren was on fire today and he hadn't had quite as long as she had to practice.
 
Enjoying being smug again for a moment, Eren leant back on his broom, lacing his fingers behind his head and keeping an eye for where the quaffle was being thrown in.
 
Seeing an opening, Eren swooped in, grabbing the quaffle and making a beeline for Xenia.
 
Nina blinked, seeing a glint of gold and immediately making a beeline for it. She pushed her broom as hard as it would go and was rewarded when her fingers were able to clasp around the snitch. She beamed, squealing in delight. "I did it!" She held it for a moment, and then let it go, watching it fly away.
 
Xenia was extremely pleased to see even their alternate was able to catch the snitch, feeling more and more optimistic about their chances. She kept one eye on Eren, while she yelled out some general encouragement.
 
Malik was really starting to get annoyed, feeling worse and worse by the second. Why couldn't he hit anything?
 
The snitch got away pretty fast, and Nina wasn't rushing to catch it a second time just yet.
 
Xenia could see the beaters were looking a little frustrated, and she bit her lip, trying to think. Maybe she could play baseball with them at some point, if they wouldn't mind some muggle sports. Pitching to Malik would be hard because of how tall he was, but she'd give it a try if it could help. Something practical worked way better for her than trying to talk it out.
 
Vincent beamed when the other seeker caught the snitch too. What luck!
 
Eren knew it was petty to want to blame their new, little seeker for distracting him as he took his next shot on goal but he knew deep down it was just Xenia was much better at defense than Bellamy. But he still glared over his shoulder at her when she called out after catching the snitch, crossing his arms and drifting back from the hoops to await the quaffle again.
 
Once more he went to hit a bludger, but his frustration was making him miss.
 
Nina dodged past a bludger that came perilously close to her, and she practically cackled as she did.
 
Xenia gave a small shrug at Eren, as if to say 'what can you do?'. She thought about teasing him for pouting, but thought that might be better done after they finished training.
