Xenia was just hoping they put up a better showing against Ilvermorny than last year's game. That had been quite embarrassing and sometimes she had nightmares about it. Not that she wanted to admit that, it would look bad in front of the team and she had to put on a strong front. A lot of the team would be graduating this year, she wanted to win for them. Or at least, go down in a valiant effort, not a curbstomp. She looked around as the team arrived. It wasn't the best day for flying, but it wasn't terrible - just overcast and a little windy. It was threatening to rain, but it hadn't quite reached that point yet. "Hello," she started, giving a small wave. "Let's go before it rains. Work together and, er, do your thing." She didn't really know what to say, but just shrugged and tossed the quaffle over to one of the chasers. "We can see what we need to work on once we are in the air." She took off with the others, circling around first to see if everyone was okay before she moved to the hoops.

OOCOut of Character:
No intro posts needed, just straight into practice!

Nina was super excited to get out for Quidditch. Even if she was only an alternate, it was going to be great fun. She took off eagerly once they were allowed to, keeping an eye out for the snitch and looking forward to ducking and weaving around bludgers, for some reason.

Ava was excited for quidditch to start up again, wasting no time in hopping on her broom after Xenia was done talking.

Malik was quite surprised he had made the team, but he wasn't going to complain. He was practically buzzing with energy, smiling at the captain before mounting his broom and kicking off in search of a bludger.

Eren wasn't quite wiling to admit he'd come to look forward to quidditch over the past few years playing, especially not with the team doing badly last year, but he would admit he looked forward to heckling Xenia, already smirking at her as she addressed the team before they got into the air, grabbing the quaffle and heading right for her at the hoops.

Bellamy stared uncertainly at the sky and only sort of paid attention to what their captain had to say. But as the rest of the team moved he followed and took up his spot opposite Xenia and was relieved to see Eren heading towards her first.

Xenia felt a bit bad for Bellamy, she wanted to give him opportunities to play but unless she somehow got severely injured she wasn't going to not take the field, especially as captain. She narrowed her eyes, focusing solely on Eren, grinning at him as he headed towards her with the quaffle. She was really going to miss him next year. She only hoped any new chasers showed the same sort of intent.

Nina zoomed around, letting the wind run through her hair. She didn't see any sign of the snitch yet, but she wasn't too bothered. They were only just getting started, after all.

Eren made a point to swerve to the side, trying to psych out Xenia for a moment before trying to score, checking over his shoulder to see if any of the other chasers were close to give him a better chance of confusing Xenia too.

Malik looked around for a bludger to hit.

Ava swung her bat at the bludger she had been chasing, a little disappointed when the ball shot past the player she had been targeting.

Slowing down seemed to have worked in his favour as Eren was able to quickly spot an opening in Xenia's guard and throw the quaffle through the hoop, raising a smug eyebrow at her. "Getting rusty?" He asked lightly, flying a loop around the hoops as he waited for her to throw the quaffle back out.

Xenia was thrown by the feint, much to her disappointment. She knew she should expect this by now but it was still poor form to miss. At the same time, she was quietly pleased that Eren had scored, knowing that they needed the chasers to be on point for the game. "Someone's been practicing," she shot back, tossing the quaffle back out into play.

Nina didn't see any sign of gold yet, but her heart raced as a bludger rushed past her. She giggled, imagining how her parents would feel seeing this.

"Har har," Eren said to Xenia, backing up some on his broom to get a better read on the quaffle and the other chasers as it was thrown back in.

Xenia shook her head. She was in a pretty good mood, all in all, despite the looming threat of the Ilvermorny game. She relaxed her stance a little, watching the team practice to see if anyone needed help while she had a moment.

Still no snitch, but Nina was mostly just trying to practice flying fast.

Seeing the opportunity, Eren swept in to grab the quaffle again before the other chasers, pointing a warning at Xenia before making his way across the pitch to hassle Bellamy for a bit.

Xenia rolled her eyes, offering a little prayer up to Bellamy. She realized she was being just like her yiayia, though, and stopped because she was far too young to start being so superstitious.

Nina stopped speeding to detangle her braids while she looked for the snitch.

Eren didn't make an immediate beeline for Bellamy just yet, wondering if he could manage to goad any of the other chasers into trying to tackle or steal from him first, just for a bit of fun.

Bellamy's palms started to sweat as Eren came his way. But he got ready and gripped his broom tight and kept a close eye on him.

Malik was desperate to prove himself as he chased after a bludger to try and hit.

Ava glanced at their new beater when he flew after a bludger.
