This was an important milestone in the life of a wizard, and Irene Finch knew that many of the students looked at their license as a taste of the freedom they'd earn on their way to becoming fully trained wizards. With the registration list tucked in a folder that was under her arm, the woman stepped into the room. She called attendance, making sure that no one had snuck into the room without paying their galleons. "Good afternoon, sixth years. My name is Irene Finch and I'm here on behalf of the Department of Magical Transportation and Ministry to prepare you for your apparition exam." She said all of this briskly. Irene was not a lady who liked her time wasted. Irene hoped to be able to focus on her job today, grateful for the distraction that work brought these days. Pacing in the front as she spoke, her heels clicking as she moved, Irene's icy blue eyes looked at all of them and none of them at once. "The headmistress has been kind enough to lift the enchantment placed on this room so that you will be able to practice apparating within these walls for the duration of our lessons."

Her voice echoed throughout the room. With so few students and the furniture against the walls, her voice carried easily and echoed slightly. The woman focused on a student in the front, her blue eyes piercing into the student. "I will warn you from the start that your ability to apparate will have little to do with what house you are in or your blood status. Your ability to apparate will, solely, depend on your ability to focus on the three Ds: Destination.Determination. Deliberation." She enunciated each word. "There are no shortcuts. If you fail to grasp these concepts, you will fail your exam. First, you must choose your destination. Next, you will focus your determination and once you feel you are ready..." With a small step, Irene apparated next to one of the sixth years who had been whispering while she was lecturing and continued, "you must move with deliberation like so." She gave the student a sharp look.

Moving towards the front of the room, Irene continued lecturing the students. She knew that some were probably expecting to apparate today but she also knew that the foundation for apparating started with this information. Soon enough their time was up, and they had done nothing but listen. "Don't forget the 3 Ds. I will see you all next time. A word to the wise: Don't bring anything with you to the next lesson. The less you carry, the easier it will be. As a reminder, the moment you step out of this room, the enchantment will be put back in place until next time we meet. It would be very, very unwise to consider practicing anywhere on the school grounds until then." With that, she dismissed the students though she waited a few moments longer in the event that any of the students had questions.

I'm so sorry for the delay! Please RP the lesson. Remember that these lessons are so that your student can earn a license. Without it, they can't apparate!

This is just the first of only three lessons before the exam takes place.

It was the first day of lessons for the second semester. Students were still buzzing with the excitement being back from the holidays. Sad that holidays but overjoyed seeing their friends again, Alexis made her way to her Apparition class. She wondered if she would be sharing classes with Joshua or Xavier. While she looked forward to going to classes with her boyfriend, she was anxious about how she and Joshua would see each other after what happened. She tried talking to her when the HM issue was released but the boy was adamant about keeping his distance. She respected his decision but had not lost hope. She and Xavier, on the other hand, had made up during Yule Ball and spent holidays with their respective families. Their birthdays happened during the holidays to which they exchanged birthday cards via owl post.

She arrived in the class and waited for the lesson to start after she greeted her professor. Soon enough, her classmates arrived and the class began. The prefect already knew the professor by name and she was quite excited to be learning under her care. Just like any other first lesson, the course was explained before immediately diving into the lesson material. This was normal since they were already in their sixth year and were preparing for their incoming NEWTS next year. Just like her other classmates, Alexis was excited to learn how to apparate. She found this essential should she ever apply for an Auror. She positioned herself at the front of the hall. The furniture was moved against the walls, making the Great Hall even bigger. Prof. Finch's voice resonated loud and clear as she explained the theory of the apparition. The Ravenclaw already asked questions from Achim about it. The woman's blue eyes bore down on her own blue orbs. Not breaking eye contact, Alexis listened to Prof. Finch and almost jumped when she disappeared right in front of her. The professor appeared next to her classmates. The lesson continued while the students listened in attention. They were not expected to apparate in their first lesson. The class ended and Alexis made her way back to her dorm.

Simon knew with Charlotte that the rose giving and the valentines celebrations were exceedingly important pieces that he needed to get right, even more so than anything else and given this was the first valentines celebration that they would have. He’d already planned to have a whole lot of roses sent to her, even for her to feel sufficiently appreciated for who she was and then there was the Valentines dance. All in all, he knew he had a lot to do during this week, a lot riding on him getting everything right. Simon knew he would have to work hard all week, be completely up to date on all of his homework to ensure that he could do everything he needed to for Charlotte. He didn’t even really mind the challenge of it all. It would be fun and he knew he could do it. He’d always managed everything in the past and this wasn’t that much more. It helped that dating Charlotte made him want to be the best he could be, pull in the perfect grades so that definitely helped. He gathered up the last of what he would need for the day and then headed out of the room.
Simon walked into the great hall with the rest of his year group. He had been pretty excited to be able to finally get this started. He had wanted to apparate for years, the ease with which it opened the world to him. It would just be amazing. The ravenclaw glanced around at the different students in the hall and then let his gaze shift to the professor at the front of the room, or well, according to her she was just really a teacher from the ministry. He listened to her words, taking on the information she was passing to them. The boy was very eager to get started and give it a try. He nodded as she listed some of the other things that were necessary to get done before he would be able to do the apparation. He was a little disappointed that they wouldn’t actually get to do it in this first lesson, but that wasn’t too bad. He had time to learn and revise over what was necessary to be able to do it. There was nothing wrong with being prepared for it. The Ravenclaw headed out of the great hall and went to the library to get started.

Shane always liked when he left school for a bit. The world of the muggles was always of far more interest to him over the break. He continued to be invited to parties which was nice and some of them had been a whole lot different from the balls of hogwarts. He met a few dozen people and had had his fun throughout. The teen always felt like hogwarts put a massive pause on all of that. That they were left studying, and doing boring things week in and week out without the same parties and celebrations as the kids of the muggle world. He liked magic, liked being magic, but parties, parties were fun. He knew that parties could be very dangerous, but he understood now more than ever why his parents had just enjoyed them so much. He pushed aside those thoughts, he had another semester to do and then he could have more fun. He was looking forward to being able to enjoy some of the fruits of hogwarts even if they were entirely different from what he imagined the muggles had. Shane packed up the last few things he might need and headed to class.
Shane walked into the great hall, he had been keen to do this, finally opening up the world to him and all of the great parties within it. The boy didn’t think he would use it that often, he still very much liked walking, but it would help with those distances which were unwalkable. He stood in the great hall and looked towards the teacher who got started. He wondered if his last school would’ve required him to have this teacher teach him or if they had someone else on call. He listened as she ran through what it took and didn’t take to apparate, all of which sounded quite normal. It wasn’t like it was a deeply secret element of magic, anyone could do it and skill would be based on the individual’s attempts at it and not anything more. The hufflepuff kept listening to what the teacher was saying, a little frustrated by the fact this was a lecture, but perhaps they had just needed to go over this stuff to even bbe able to get started in the next. So he grabbed his things and headed out of the hall to the next class of the day. .

Christmas at home with her siblings and parents had been fun, but returning to Hogwarts was fun as well. She had been with all her siblings on the train, and it had felt nice to all be together. Fleur knew she would be sad to graduate next year, even though it would bring her a lot closer to her ultimate goal of working with dragons. She couldn't wait for her future, but was starting to realize she would miss Hogwarts a lot too. As always, she had looked forward a lot to Care of Magical Creatures, and was glad to have the class again this semester. But of course, there were other classes too. One of them was Apparition this semester, and because it was entirely new, Fleur was pretty interested. The ability to apparate would be very useful. The woman who was teaching them introduced herself, and Fleur couldn't help but feel like it was someone she wouldn't want to cross. She looked pretty strict. She was glad the woman said the ability to apparate had nothing to do with blood status, as she always hated those who thought they were more important because of their blood. The teacher went on to talk about the three D's, and Fleur tried her very best to pay close attention. The lecture went on for a bit, and Fleur was starting to lose her focus. She preferred more practical lessons, but understood why they weren't apparating yet in this first lesson. When the lesson was over, Fleur left the classroom with a few of her friends. She chatted with them about the possibilities of apparition, once they were all able to do it.

The Christmas holidays had been fun, as always, but Stella was happy to be back at Hogwarts again too, to see her friends and learn new things. It felt like there was less disconnection between the two now that her sister was settled at Hogwarts as well. This semester they'd be starting something new, something she was very curious about (not that she wasn't curious about everything). Stella was always excited for new and interesting learning, but this felt like more than that. This felt like a step towards her future, and that scared and excited her all at once. It was a milestone, and such a useful, practical thing to learn to do. She hoped, as always, that they would also get to learn about how it worked, but doubted that that hope would come to anything. In fact, her hope was dashed almost immediately: this woman's focus on brisk instruction and what seemed to Stella like rote learning didn't look likely to leave any room for explanation. It also didn't seem very helpful to her. How could they focus on those things if they didn't know how? Were they supposed to just . . . feel determined? She could do that, she supposed, but it didn't seem like any other magic they had learned. Was that it? The end of the lecture? Stella supposed it made sense that they wouldn't get to practice today, but if they were only allowed to practice in class, she was concerned about getting it right. She hoped she could at least find something to read about it for more detail.

Charlotte was curious at this new lesson she wanted to do good in this as well as for the others. It was important to get this it would be handy for the rest of her life. The blonde entered the great hall and went standing next to Simon with a smile. She touched his arm for a moment and smiled and than looked at the person who was giving the lesson. She wanted to apparate and could not wait. Charlotte saw a lot of students and from every house ofcourse. She listened as the teacher explained stuff. Charlotte just wanted to try and be succesfull. She didn't expected to train this lesson already but it was sad though. She would read more about it soon to prepare the best for the next lesson. She could prepare together with Simon she figured. Charlotte left the great hall when they were done.

Patrick was excited for his next semester at Hogwarts. He was so close to his NEWT exams next year and soon enough he would be out of school and doing something that he actually enjoyed and could work towards. He had a small idea of what he wanted to do when he graduated, even though it was particularly ambitious of him, but he hoped that these next couple of years would help him get there, along with the help from his Head of House who seemed very willing to do so. The Hufflepuff packed everything he needed into his backpack for the day before heading out of his dormitory and to his first class.

Apparition seemed rather daunting to the Hufflepuff teen. It was something that he always thought only adults could do, but Patrick was becoming an adult himself and so he would have to learn how to do it soon enough. It would be a very helpful skill, and he was happy that Hogwarts gave him the opportunity to learn it. He entered the Great Hall with his yeargroup and gathered around a lady he had never seen before. She introduced herself before beginning to teach them. Patrick wondered if they would actually be apparting today. Instead, the lady spoke about the three D's which the prefect made sure to write down, not ever wanting to accidentally splinch one day. When the lesson ended Patrick filed out of the room with everyone else.

The year was going by fast, and it was strange to think that next year would be the final one. He was glad things had gotten better between him and his twin, as he finally felt whole again. It helped that he had Zoe too. Actually, he was pretty happy these days, even if it wasn't something he advertised. He looked forward to going to the Valentine's dance with his girlfriend, and was glad to be in a year without the big exams. Next year the NEWTs would be difficult, but at least he had to wait a bit before that time.

This year also brought with it a new subject for the sixth years: apparition. Theodore was both excited and apprehensive about this subject. He wanted to learn how to apparate, as it was objectively useful, but he also worried that he would be unable to do it. He preferred things he could read up on beforehand, but apparition would be a mostly practical subject with no way to practice in between sessions. He just hoped it would turn out alright, and that he wouldn't humiliate himself in front of all the other sixth years. The teacher from the Ministry seemed strict, but Theodore didn't mind. He preferred it over the professors who pretended to be their friends. The teacher lectured them on the three D's, and Theodore wrote things down in a notebook he had brought with him. He wasn't sure, but he hoped it would help be more prepared. At the end of the lecture, he pocketed the notebook. He was glad they hadn't had to try yet, but they would next week. Theodore left the great hall with Edmund after the lesson.

A new semester at Hogwarts meant plenty to look forward to, and it was good to be back. Although Zoe had been adjusting to being the only member of her family left at Hogwarts, it was still a relief to see Harley and Jason over the holidays. Jason was as talkative as ever, and becoming an adult hadn't changed Harley a bit. Though she was happy to be back at school with her friends and boyfriend, Zoe missed her siblings immensely. It was a scary thought that there was only a year and a half left until she would be out there, joining them in the real world and trying to make a start on her career.

Today was time for a class Zoe was especially excited to get started on. Apparition. At last. Harley had gone on and on about how strict the teacher was, but Zoe didn't care. She was ready to be able to apparate all by herself. The holiday after Harley had gotten her license she had lorded it over Zoe big time, apparating from the kitchen table to the pantry and back to get a box of cereal every morning. A nightmare. Well, now it was Zoe's turn, and she was determined to be better at apparition than Harley ever had. The teacher was exactly as strict as Harley had made her out to be, and Zoe paid closer attention than she thought she ever had in any class before, taking careful notes of everything the woman said. Zoe needed to ace this, no questions. She was disappointed when they didn't get a chance to practice right away, but she was excited to get started next time, bouncing out of the Great Hall once the lesson was over.

Edmund still wasn't over the novelty of enjoying his holidays again. The years of fighting with Theodore had made holidays at home torture with just the two of them, but now everything was the way it should be once more, the twins against the world, and the holidays were a blissful time for the two of them to spend as they had spent their childhoods, just the way things should be. The only difference was that now they both had people to miss. Edmund was relieved to return to Hogwarts and see Analei again, a small pang hitting him at the realisation that were they still romantically entwined when he graduated, he would graduate, and she would still be here. It was too much to think about right now.

Apparition. It was finally here. Edmund had wanted to learn to apparate for as long as he could remember, and he was thrilled to be beginning on the journey at last. He joined his classmates in the Great Hall and listened with interest as the woman from the Ministry explained what they were doing. It all seemed far too easy, but Edmund took notes just in case. Was apparating really that easy after all the fuss? He certainly hoped so. Edmund was disappointed that the first lesson was just a lecture, but he made sure he had all the information he needed, just in case, leaving the Great Hall with his classmates once the lesson was over. He couldn't wait for the practical lessons to begin.

Even without important exams looming at the end of this year, Charlie was stressed about her schoolwork. She had tried to keep up with her studies over the holidays, but the drama at Phoebe's family's Christmas party had been something of a distraction, to say the least. Charlie knew her mum had a bad relationship with her birth family, but their family was just them and Mum, they had never met any of her family, and before that Charlie had had no family to have drama with. It was a bit scary to think about.

Charlie had been excited to learn to apparate ever since she had learned it was possible, and she was over the moon about today. Something about the fact that apparating was a bit dangerous somehow only made it even more fun. She couldn't wait. She stood with her classmates in the Great Hall, listening to the woman who had come to teach them intently. Just 3 Ds? Finally, something Charlie could remember easily. She was pleased that it seemed mostly to be based on visualisation as well, Charlie had been finding more and more in all of her nonverbal casting classes that that was an aspect of magic she had an aptitude for. She took notes for the whole class, disappointed that they didn't get a chance to try today, but now that she knew what to expect, Charlie was even more excited. This was something she could nail.
