Y50 Start of Year Feast

Fiona didn't know how to explain what she had been feeling at this very moment, but all she could think about was how nervous she was feeling. The girl was now leaning against the table, the food completely forgotten now, her hand lingering on where they had bumped each other. "The youngesters are gonna look up to you, they're gonna think you're a cool prefect" Fiona says with a nervous nod. She chuckled a little at what she had said next. "I mean, you're an expert at that, I reckon, with that track record of yours" Fiona says with a small smile and nod. She felt her face heat up a little. "I don't think I would be a great prefect. I reckon they made a good decision" Fiona says with a grin. She knew she wasn't in the prefect realm like her two eldest siblings, but if she was being honest, she was a little glad she didn't have to hold any extra responsibilities. "Y-yeah! Quidditch together is always fun" Fiona says, stuttering out a little nervously, bumping Aroha back with her shoulder.

Teddy had cheered so loudly for the new Gryffindors but there had been so many of them that by the time the ceremony ended his throat was sore and he was in need of a drink. He listened to the headmasters speech, smiling when the announcement came that this year marked the schools fiftieth anniversary. That was so cool and being head boy for such a landmark year made him feel even more important than he already did. Once the food appeared, he started helping himself to food and most importantly a drink. He started to drink his pumpkin juice and let his eyes wander the hall, waiting for others to congratulate him on his new head boy badge that was proudly pinned to his jumper, next to the Quidditch captain badge.

Sybil enjoyed watching the ceremony and she clapped for all the first years, and even welcomed the ones who ended up sitting by her. But she couldn't help but feel antsy. She felt like she had so much to do and not enough time before lessons started. She didn't want to waste it sitting in the great hall all night. But she was hungry and when the food appeared she served herself but ate quickly incase she spotted a chance to duck away early.

Naveen found it a little annoying that they had to sit through the whole sorting ceremony. He'd have to deal with the new first years one way or another so why did he have to watch them all walk up one by one. It had been bad enough when it had been his turn. He wasn't sure why he was feeling so grumpy, he had been partially relieved when he hadn't gotten a badge in the mail over the break. He didn't want to spend his free time patrolling the hall or having to tell off younger students, well the last part didn't seem so bad. Still it was a bit of a blow to his pride and he was a little paranoid about what his extended family might think. Two of his cousins had been head girls after all, it was a lot to live up to and he felt like he was doing something wrong. He tried to shake off the feeling as the food finally appeared but instead he served himself and couldn't help but think of all the ways he could have done it better.

Elise was happy to be back at Hogwarts, what she didn't like was knowing she was in her second to last year. Yes, it was still the beginning but there was a sense of mourning that she just couldn't shake. It was different than when her brother had graduated and she had to return to school without him. It was more personal, knowing this time of her live was ticking closer and closer to the end. She sat with that feeling heavy on her shoulders as she watched the new first years walk up one by one to be sorted. They seemed so small and fresh. Her stomach growled shortly after and she was pleased when the food appeared. She served herself and took a sip of juice and instantly her spirits felt lighter.

Oskar thought that after this long he'd feel more at home at the Slytherin table, but he didn't. He felt a house guess and kept his hands folded neatly in front of him. He watched absentmindedly as the first years got sorted. He felt a special kind of sympathy for those who seemed exceptionally nervous. He looked down the table and spotted Hazel, his stomach doing a flip for added effect. He raised a hand in her direction but he wasn't sure if she saw him or not. They hadn't crossed paths yet and he wondered if she wanted to talk to him as much as he did her.

Frannie sat at the Ravenclaw table, politely clapping for all the new members of their house before the Headmaster spoke. She had found her first year to be a little challenging with little socialization and a lot of alone time, something very different from growing up in her tight-knit family. She looked around for some of her roommates but happened to be sitting by some older students and shrank into herself, not really feeling like talking to strangers that much. Once the food appeared, she put some on her plate, not planning to eat too much so she could still feel like doing some things like unpacking this evening.

Mary Paige had been flustered by the whole transferring process, but she had quickly found herself sorted into a house - Hufflepuff. It seemed like a good fit. After all, Hufflepuffs were notoriously nice, right? She looked over at her brother and wondered how he was doing when the Headmaster started speaking to them. She listened closely and then was surprised when the food just appeared in front of them. "Could you pass the veggies?" she asked the person next to her.

Hudson wasn't surprised that he was sorted into a different house than his sister - after all, they weren't exactly related biologically, but he thought maybe being raised together that they might be. He wouldn't admit it, but it made him a little sad. However, he was going to make the most of being in his house and quickly filled his plate with different foods he was mostly familiar with and scarfed it down.

Apolline was very ready for her sixth year of school. She was ready for the lessons, ready for everything that she would learn within the year. A year which would hopefully be a little relaxing when her next year was the ever hard NEWT year. She had enjoyed sorting, and applauded the headmaster's speech, thoroughly looking forward to what the school would do for the 50th anniversary.

Winnie knew this was the year to really knuckle down, to focus on her studies, to not let herself be distracted by other things, she wasn't quite at important exams, but there were things that were important outside of that. She glanced towards the headmaster when the sorting ceremony blessedly came to an end and then focused on waiting for the food which did appear shortly after a thankfully short speech.

Henri hated the sorting ceremony, it was just boring, he had other things to do and get to, why would he need to watch all of this. He didn't care really about the 50th anniversary of the school, not when there were just more interesting things going on than a school. he glanced at the girl who spoke, and frowned. He took the veggies she was clearly wanting and began passing them over. "Who are you?" he asked pretty bluntly. She was about his age, but he wasn't sure he'd seen her before, and Henri wasn't as...unobservant as that.

Callie felt nervous about this being her final year at the school. She had done so much in her time at it, and was pretty nervous about what the future might bring for her, though unsure of what to actually do. She had never figured out what she actually wanted to do with herself. She applauded for each of the students, though not too many of them joined hufflepuff and then she glanced to the headmaster and smiled. She was pleased she'd get to participate in that. Callie took some food and filled her plate when she could.

Magne was ready for whatever this year threw at him, and he certainly wasn't thinking about the big important exams he had upcoming or anything like that. he wasn't thinking about how this was a major year for him, just that he would treat it like every other. He had been made a prefect which had been pretty surprising. He nodded at what the professor said and then took some food when it appeared. "Good Break?" he said to the person next to him.

Daiki was ready for another year at Hogwarts, ready for whatever the year would bring. He couldn't believe that he was a fourth year, it felt like he'd just been like one of those first years about to be sorted. He applauded for each of them thinking of the journey they were about to take in their schooling. He hadn't realised the school was as old as it was. He was eager to find out what they would do with it. He grabbed some food when it appear, passing to Kairi her favourites from it.

Tiernan took the opportunity as the sorting happened to take a nap, whispering in his twin's ear. "Wake me up when the food appears," and then leaned his head upon the table, pillowed in his arms, dozing until the food did appear, knowing he'd missed nothing of importance.

Nico was a little nervous to be at a table but not with Aurora, he had and she had known that it would be highly unlikely for them to be in a house together. Unless it had been hufflepuff, but still, he missed her, and didn't know anyone at the ravenclaw table. He took some of the food, and glanced at the other new sortees.
