Gabrielle was probably mad to volunteer herself to supervise duels again, but on the other hand, she hadn't volunteered to actually duel her fellow staff members so she was probably not as mad as she could have been. She had her wand in hand just in case, and invited the two fifth years to take their positions. She was quite curious to see how this duel would go, as she knew these two were somewhat competitive. "Hello and welcome to your first duel of this year's tournament. Now, I want to see a nice, clean duel today. When I give the signal, you may bow to each other and begin. Ready?" Gabrielle looked between the two, making sure they were both ready, before nodding. "Go for it."

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Leah was more than ready when the dueling tournament came around this year. She was even more excited she wasn't going against Anisha first. Maybe this time she'd finally get past the first round. She took her spot on the dueling platform and gave Dorian a quick bow before firing off a quick stinging hex.

Dorian had something to prove in the tournament this year, not willing to leave it to chance that someone else would beat Anisha if he didn't. But first he had to get past one of the other Gryffindors, returning Leah's bow. She was faster on the draw though, causing Dorian to grit his teeth as he'd barely straightened up before he had to throw up a shield charm. Dorian couldn't wait till he mastered non-verbal spells and didn't need to waste time with incantations, throwing back a Babbling Curse in return.

Leah felt good getting in the first spell of the duel and was ready by the time Dorian countered. She was ready with a shield charm and stood firm as she sent back her next spell. "Confundo!"

Dorian did his best to keep his composure, watching Leah's actions closely as she blocked her spell and sent another his way. He didn't need his thoughts or nerves running away on him when he needed to focus. Shield charm and then return fire. He needed something to make Leah unsteady he decided, shooting a Jelly-fingers jinx back this time.

Leah was watching and ready for whatever was going to come at her next. She was a little disappointed when her spell didn’t land but she held he wand tighter and was ready with a shield charm just in time. With an irritated grunt she shot back a knee reversing hex.

Dorian was doing his best to keep his cool and keep focused. He hadn't managed to hit or even graze Leah yet but he just had to keep at it. Blocking her spell again with a shield charm, Dorian decided to focus on power over fancier spells, firing a simpler stunning spell at her at hopefully maximum power.
