Gabrielle was probably mad to volunteer herself to supervise duels again, but on the other hand, she hadn't volunteered to actually duel her fellow staff members so she was probably not as mad as she could have been. She had her wand in hand just in case (though kept aside, she didn't want to give either of these girls the idea that she didn't trust their spellcasting ability), and invited the the two seventh years to take their positions. She knew by now that both Ngawaiata and Aurora were intelligent and capable girls, and would certainly be competitive. But she trusted them both to abide by the rules. "Hello and welcome to the seventh year championship duel! The winner will be this year's seventh year champion. Now, ladies, you know how this goes. Give it your best, but keep it clean, alright? Ready?" She looked between the two, stepping back once they were both in their positions. "Go for it."

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

After avoiding the tournament out of disgust with one of the competitors, Ngawaiata had been relieved to sign up once she heard that Monday was bowing out. The fact that someone so violent had been allowed to lead the club threw up some serious red flags, but at least she wouldn't be duelling someone who would actively try to kill her. She gave Aurora a nod of acknowledgement and bowed before taking her place, breathing slowly. Even if she hadn't competed for a long time Ngawaiata had never stopped practicing duelling, hoping to pursue it as a career after school, and she knew she had to give this everything she had. Wand flashing expertly, she wasted no time in casting, eyes locked on her target. "Incarcerous!"

Aurora's mind was elsewhere. but she had signed up to the duelling tournament and was determined to not do too badly. She didn't need to win, but she didn't want to lose. The Gryffindor blocked the first spell sent her way and then followed it with a simple, trip jinx.

Ngawaiata was braced to retaliate, bringing up a quick shield and moving to fire around it, hoping to catch Aurora from another angle. "Levicorpus!"

Aurora managed to stop the spell, just barely, it had come from an unexpected direction, and she somewhat fumbled and sent back a rather weak but non-verbal, Diffindo.

Ngawaiata hadn't been prepared for nonverbal casting, and she winced as the spell sliced through the shoulder of her robes, exposing her skin to the air. That had been too close, and she did her best not to let it rattle her as she fired back a simple charm as quickly as she could, hoping casting offensively instead of shielding would catch Aurora off guard. "Expelliarmus!"

Aurora was very surprised when her spell hit, having really not expected it to. She couldn't lose her focus and was only just able to cast the protego to block what would've been a duel losing spell. Which she then followed with, "Incarcerous"

Ngawaiata was beginning to really feel her groove again, relieved to finally feel part of something so important to her again. She pulled up a shield quickly before casting back, sending a nonverbal stunning spell to Aurora in the hopes of catching her off guard.

Aurora liked non-verbal magic, but it was a little difficult to see until almost too late. She just managed to get a shield up in time, but followed suit and cast a non-verbal, Expelliarmus back.

Ngawaiata had hoped to catch Aurora off guard, but thankfully she hadn't staked everything on being successful. She pulled up a shield quickly, relieved that it had been enough to block whatever her opponent had cast, but now she felt like she needed to think further outside the box to get one up on the Gryffindor. Shifting her stance, Ngawaiata began to move her wand as though she were going for a stunning spell, before quickly switching up her angle and instead casting a nonverbal jelly brain jinx.

Aurora just managed to dodge out the way of the spell, having gone in the wrong direction to block it, and then just having to dodge. She didn't hesitate or wait to send back, "Langlock,"

Ngawaiata had higher hopes for her gamble, and almost didn't get her shield pulled up in time, not having expected Aurora to be able to counter. She kept her wits steady though, in her element with the challenge as she fired back a silent petrification charm.
