@Tempest Vero vs @Astraea Vale

Angel stretched as he stepped up to the duelling platform, motioning to the two students to join him at opposite ends before surveying the crowd. Content everyone looked ready, he addressed the gathered students. "Welcome to your first round of duelling, let's have a nice clean duel today. The victor will be able to continue on to the rest of the tournament, and the loser will sadly be eliminated. When you're ready, please bow to your opponent and begin!" He said with a flourish, letting the students get started.
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Tempest wasn’t sure why she signed up for the duelling tournament. Maybe it was because she wanted to get out her aggression, or maybe it was because she wanted to do her best to win something. But either way, she was here, and even with her limited knowledge of defensive spells, she wasn’t going to let the least liked roommate stand in her way. Tempest knew they were supposed to bow, and couldn’t help but scoff at the idea. Yet, she did it anyway and sent her first stunning spell.

Astraea was eager to finally use some of the offensive spells they had learnt. Not wanting to risk expulsion (though she was sure her mother would teach her well anyway), Astraea waited for the dueling tournament before she actually sent any spells flying another student's way. Vero was barely worth a breath, nevermind an actual duel, but there was no way Astraea was going to let her room-person get the best of her. Astraea bowed her head in response, side stepping the stunning curse as it was sent to her, before sending back "Petrificus Totalus!"

Tempest watched as Astraea merely avoided the spell she had sent instead of actually engaging with it. It felt like cheating, but Tempest blocked Astraea's spell before sending back another spell. "Everte Statum," she called.

Astraea blocked the spell that Vero had sent her, before sending back "Locomotor Mortis." Hoping that it would hit and the girl would fall over and smack her head on the ground. That would be satisfying.

Horror Zhefarovich didn't care much for dueling. He never wanted to participate. But when he knew that Astraea was going to be in the tournament, much like how she supports his Quidditch activities, he remained on the sidelines and watched Astraea go off against whoever it was. Horror never kept up with names unless they were important (to him but if asked, he'd say in general). Horror smirked as Astraea seemed to show no mercy. Good. Very good.

An duel June wanted to see for sure was from two of her roommates. She rooted for Tempest ofcourse, but beating Astraea in a duel would be fun too. She noticed Horror being there, ofcourse he was. And shot an quick look at him. Deciding to sit far away from him and took her notebook beside her. Watching and smirking. '' Go Tempest! '' She said, wanting to let Astraea know she was here and watching her. And supporting Tempest an bit. Although June only cared about herself in this, obviously.

Tempest heard a voice cheer her on and looked out to see who it was, but she couldn't make out where the sound came from. Unfortunately, this made her turn back to Astraea too late, and she quickly ducked to avoid being hit by the spell. Tempest sent back a slug-vomiting curse, something she had never actually tried in practice except maybe once during the break on her brother, but she really didn't care. She just wanted to knock her roommate out and get this done with.

Not one to get easily distracted, Astraea ignored the call coming from the audience, and almost smirked when it made Vero duck. Astraea blocked the curse before sending back "Stupefy."

Tempest was starting to get bored, if she were being honest. But she knew she wanted to get ahold of that trophy. As she blocked her roommate’s spell, she sent back her own stunning spell.

Astraea blocked the incoming spell again, swishing her wand and sending the disarming spell at Vero.

Tempest stared at Astraea for a moment and wondered if she knew a spell that could enlarge the girl's head. That would surely make her give up dueling, wouldn't it? "Petrificus Totalus!" she sent back to her roommate.
