@Leia Hume vs @Linden Cullen

Barring a bit of water, round one thankfully hadn't been too messy this year and Angel hoped things would stay that way. Once the two competitors seemed ready, Angel directed them up to their places at opposite ends of the platforms before addressing them and the crowd. "Welcome to your second round of duelling, you should know what you're doing by now so let's keep it clean. The victor will be our Seventh Year Champion, and the loser will sadly be eliminated. When you're ready, please bow to your opponent and begin!" He said with a flourish, letting the students get started.
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Leia had been pretty surprised to get through the first round as quickly as she had. But she was quite pleased with it. She bowed to her oppenent and then assumed her position. She didn't hesitate and sent a non-verbal Stupefy towards him.

Linden was surprised when he had made it through the first round of the duelling tournament and beaten ryan. but now, now he was against Leia, he made his way onto the stage and glanced at the stands looking for cas. his man was easy to spot holding a poster that looked suspiciously new. which while not what he wanted cas to spend the time on, but there was really no dissuading him. he moved to his starting point and bowing his chestnut wand tight in his grip. before he had time to prepare himself a jet of a spell came flying towards him. he didn't have time to think instead dodged to one side. so Leila wanted to give him the silent treatment. he smiled before saying the incantation for the babbling curse

Leia knew this duel was the most important of her school career. It would make or break the streak of wins she'd had. She didn't know much about Linden, he was no in the same circles as she was despite the small nature of their year group. Leia blocked his spell using one of the more advanced protego's they'd learnt the year before and followed up with, "Incarcerous,"

Cas wasn't about to miss the next duel. It was his job to support Linden, after all. He stood in the crowd, smiling at Linden and hoping the man didn't mind the new sign too much. Cas was a bit stubborn, after all. This one was a bit more... satirical perhaps. He'd done a sign with the canarys from the last duel. He stayed quiet, not wanting to distract anyone or be a pest.

Linden wasn't surprised as his spell was blocked. Leila was a good duelist and had wont the most competitions out of anyone in their year that he knew of. he had a bit more warning this time as the ropes came flying towards him. he cast a quick "Impedimentia" and the ropes stopped mid air and fell to the floor vanishing. he thought for a split second before casting a silent Tarantallegra hoping that even if it woudltn win him the duel it would at least distract her a bit.

Leia blocked his spell, fairly happy that she wasn't the only one using non-verbal magic. She cast a non-verbal diffino back at the boy. She knew that the spells from younger years were much stronger non-verbally than ones she'd learnt more recently and this spell was a good one for duels.

Prot-" Linden said as he tried to sheild the spell that came flying towards him but he was too late. he had a cut in his jeans where it had hit and the blue around it was slowly turning red. "motherfff-fire he cussed changing the wording last second as there were children, (and professors) present. if he was going to have a chance of beating Leila he needed to be at least somewhat subtle with his cpell cast. and he knew that would require focus. he tried to focus but it didn't work so he just cast the spell as quiet as he could. "Levacorpus" he whispered hoping that she would be far enough away for it to at least not be heard.

Leia was pretty pleased when her spell managed to hit the boy. It was obviously a rather harsh spell. She was a little focused on the spell hitting that she didn't noticed the spell. She dodged out of the way of his spell and was rapidly following up with a trip jinx

Linden saw Leila dodge the spell. He hoped that it was a sign that he was wearing her down. He readied himself for the follow up casting a protago however the impact of the spell made him stagger as a pain moved through his leg. He let out a hiss as he steadied himself. Readying his wand to cast Graviatus hoping that it would catch her off guard as it wasn’t one of the spells learned at school instead it was one he had picked up from either Charlie or willow or Had it been Callum when they had been practicing in the paddock during the election campaign.

Leia was noted him staggering, and felt she was definitely on the right path. She raised her wand and blocked his spell, following it up quickly with the Tongue-Tying Curse.

Linden was not surprised when Leila blocked his spell. she was certainly the better dueler. he was already feeling a little light-headed and wanted it to be over. but was not wanting to give in. he had an idea. though it probably wouldn't work. "Papiloria" he said casting another spell that was not technically one they had learned at school. but one he had found in a book about animals and transfiguration. a swarm of butterflies appeared in front of him. he had hoped that they would block the incoming spell. as they didn't have tongues it shouldn't hurt them. apparently, it didn't work. and he felt his tongue stick to the top of his mouth. oh well. time to repeat what he had done in the last duel and hope it worked. he concentrated to cast a silent Oppugno sending the insects towards Leila not sure how much longer he could keep up the fight. the image of the butterfly attack reminded him of a muggle superhuman he had stumbled across a while ago which made him smile.

Leia had to admit this was the oddest duel she'd ever been a part of, she wasn't sure if summoning butterflies to attack her was even allowed. But he'd done it, only to be hit with her spell, the insects were coming towards her and she raised her wand, casting, "Finite Incantatem," she said and she was glad to see working in ending the butterflies attack. She followed it up, knowing she could go more complicated but decided to just send a non-verbal, "Petrificus Totalus," She just wanted this over.

Linden watched as the butterflies started to swarm Leila. it was clear that he was never going to be a professional dueler. but showmanship, maybe that was where he had the skills as it did look cool and that was important. it was almost a shame when she stopped them although it was still good to see them flying around. the follow-up attack came soon and he raised his wand. "pra-day-go" he started remembering too late that his tongue was stuck to the top of his mouth. and by the time he had processed that it was too late he was hit squarely in the chest and he felt his arms and legs all stiffen and dropped his wand as he fell to the floor.

[[edit as i realised the mistype of protago autocorrected to potato. so i retyped it, but just imagine trying to say it with your tongue on the top of your mouth and it would sound like that (and yes i said it many times to gry and transcribe it)]]
